A word from our president

Hey Seals! rThis is your club president, Samantha Tang. I hope all of you enjoyed the first Key Club meeting of the year. Keep looking forward to future key club meetings where you can spend time with friends and get all the latest updates about division and volunteering opportunities. The new cabinet members and I are excited to see what’s to come this year. We have many events prepared and we hope you are able to participate in them. Let’s have a great time together and spend time with others! Thank you, Samantha Tang

A word from our historian Hello! I am your Key Club historian, Athena Chen. This month’s issue is inspired by Halloween and its spooky scary themes. The cabinet members will start looking out for outstanding members once more service events are available, so keep a look out for that in the future issues of the Sealy News. Keep reading to get a recap of this months events as well as upcoming events! Remember to drink plenty of water and stay safe (^ v ^) Yours truly, Athena Chen

Get your D35W Key Club merch out now! Everything about the merch from the design to the price is amazing. The sweatshirts run for $25, shirts are $14, and bucket hats are $15. Check out the divisions Instagram which can be found on page 12 to get instructions on purchasing the merch. There will be a google form to record your purchase and size which closes on September 25th, 2021. The First Key Club Meeting The first Key Club meeting for the year 2021-2022 has finally happened. There was a great turn out with about 117 new and returning seals. Officers started out with introductions of themselves and provided only the very best photos of themselves, one of my favorite moments. Closing of the presentation was a brief explanation about the purpose of Key Club and some of the bonding events that take place throughout the year. Following the introductions, was a ice breaker called “Heads or Tails?” A game where seals would have to guess heads or tails and hope that their intuition will kick in. Winner received a Starbucks gift card. Then snacks were handed out as the meeting ended, a great end to a great start.

August DCM All members and officers can attend DCM’s and it is guaranteed fun. The DCM started off as usual with old business from each school that attended. For the rest of the meeting, water balloons were handed out to those who paid $2 and everyone sang happy birthday to the LTG. It was a day full of great memories and we hope to see you there next time!

Skating for PTP There were many laughs shared and memories made during the skating for PTP event. There were those who knew how to skate and then the ones who couldn’t even maintain a stable balance. The event profits go towards a good cause so next time there are event’s like this, try it out! It is extremely fun to meet new people and spend time outside.

Self Care 101 This segment is very much needed because the two first months of school are overwhelming especially since the transition from online school to inperson has been rough. These are my suggestions to self care and give them a try when you have time and are feeling stressed or simply taking a break. 1) NAPS do wonders however this is something for those who have the time. Additionally, those who have trouble falling asleep can just close their eyes and relax. Think about everything or nothing, this is time for you to stay still and relax. 2) EXERCISE are for those who do not like resting for too long and want to do something productive even on a break. A great way to keep healthy and relieve stress. 3) COOKING OR BAKING, again are for those who have time however it is of great benefit most of the times. When I cook or bake, I like to choose easy recipes and enjoy the food afterwards. Hopefully these few tips are helpful to you and if not there are always an abundance of resources online which is available 24/7. There is only the rest of October and seven months left if I calculated right (I probably didn’t). Hang in there and try your best!
