Sue Crook and Gerry Millington, who are friends and colleagues working from the Faringdon office of Perry Bishop Estate Agents, have been taking part in the ‘Cycle 150 Miles In September Challenge’ to raise money for Maggie’s cancer support charity in Oxford. Gerry said: “We rode at a leisurely pace with several rides of about 20 miles per day throughout September. “We were pleased to be able to complete our target of raising £150 and contribute to this worthwhile cancer charity and would like to thank everyone who backed us either by donating or helping behind the scenes.” Maggie’s cancer charity is a cause that is very close to the hearts of both Sue and Gerry. Sue lost her husband, Ken, to cancer eight and half years ago and said: “My late husband was diagnosed in 2009 with a rare cancer. We came across Maggie’s after Ken’s first treatment and they gave us so much support.” Perry Bishop’s Residential Director, Sarah Benson has been with the Faringdon estate agents for over 30 years, but is currently off work to be with her husband, Roddy, who is receiving palliative care for cancer. This involves hand rolling each bead, decorating and baking them and then varnishing each one. Another favourite is Redwork embroidery, usually in the form of Christmas decorations. She also enjoys sewing, making small gifts such as lavender bags, make-up bags, card purses, etc. Come along to the Faringdon Information Centre during November to see Teresa’s beautiful, handcrafted jewellery and gifts.

I retired some 6 years ago after almost 50 years as an Environmental Health Officer working mainly in local authorities from the Vale of White Horse to Kensington and Chelsea. I moved to Faringdon to be close to my two daughters and their children. I undertake voluntary work with Oxfordshire’s Youth Justice Service both as a referral panel member and acting as an appropriate adult at Abingdon Police station on a Rota. I was encouraged to put myself forward for election to the Town Council by my daughters and had the privilege of being elected. My focus is both on the environment in its broadest sense and on stimulating the town centre to be a vibrant hub not only of some retail shops but especially of places for eating and drinking and general social interaction which I believe is the way to proceed. I live in the town and have enjoyed my time here and working with the other Councillors to try and improve life for all inhabitants of Faringdon.

FARINGDON RUGBY CLUB FRUFC goes from strength to strength Faringdon Rugby Union Football Club (FRUFC) continues to deliver a bumper season with super wins from the Silverbacks and further community activity added to the calendar. Touch Rugby on a Tuesday night has proved very popular even with the changing season. Every week we’ve had at least 45 turn up from a full range of ages – great to see. Due to the success of Touch Rugby and demand, we are delighted to have been able to officially start a separate women’s rugby training session. This will run every Wednesday at 6pm for all abilities. Come and join us! Our senior team, the Silverbacks has also strengthened their start to the season with a further win at home – they now have two wins from three matches. The second match, away to Oxford Rugby ended 26-19 to the Silverbacks. A good battle from both sides in what was gruelling conditions. In the third match, they were awarded a HWO (Home Walk Over) prior to kick off, as the opposition, Risborough couldn’t field a front row. Both sides elected to play a friendly, with uncontested scrums from the off. The Silverbacks came out the victors, winning 54-0. Currently the Silverbacks sit a promising fourth in the league. Training continues on every Thursday at 6:15pm – do come along if you have an interest in playing for the seniors or for the Under16s. A note of thanks needs to be given to everyone who helped run and support our first Families Day at the end of September. We hope to do the same next year and help local charities raise much needed funds, whilst providing a really fun day out for all families. Our partnership with Glouscester Rugby Club continues with another rugby camp held at half term. Plus for our members we are now officially affiliated, which means cheaper ticket prices! If you become a member of FRUFC, we can provide your discount codes. Finally we are delighted to confirm that together with Faringdon Community College we will be offering regular after school rugby to all year groups for the foreseeable future. Our first session was attended by 25 children with FCC Head of PE Mr Rees, along with our coach coordinator Keith Wilson and our Chair, David (Chuck) Norris. This is an excellent opportunity for kids to get involved in rugby away from the usual weekend games or training. We as a club are extremely excited to work more with the community, delivering on all the activities set out at the start of the season and will continue to become involved in all aspects of the community. We are continually looking to help and assist whenever possible with your suggestions. Do sign up to the Community Lottery where each ticket sold helps with our ongoing fundraising for the club. For your chance to win £25K every week register with www.whitehorselottery.co.uk/support/faringdon-rugby. GET INVOLVED! Maybe you are a long-term resident or are new to Faringdon. Perhaps you are here for a few years at one of the nearby service bases. Either way, make rugby union YOUR sport and Faringdon YOUR rugby club. To keep track on what is happening at FRFUC, follow us on Facebook or check out our events on the website www.faringdonrugby.club/events

Hit Job
By: Eric Cunningham
PODCAST – Hit Job This month’s review is of the comedy show ‘Hit Job’ written by Eric Cunningham. The podcast is free if you have a membership to Audible, part of Amazon. It tells the story of Brynn Morris, an aspiring artist desperate to earn money to pay for her grandmothers lifesaving surgery. She takes a job as an administrator at Kill Co, whose motto is “Do Bad Things for Good Reasons”. At the start of her employment, she is appalled at the objectives of the company, killing people. Kill Co, need a company morale boost so create a competition to see who can kill the most people in the shortest period. The rules of the competition constantly change to suit the Managing Director. The most significant rule change is that the person at the bottom of the leader board becomes a target. There are strict rules about who can and cannot be killed. All kills are displayed on the company app, think Tinder. Swipe left, and it’s a pass, swipe the other way and you accept the contract. Our heroine gets herself involved in the competition. Brynn teams up with Geo, the tech nerd, who’s father started the company. The subsequent episodes take us on each of their kills and the mishaps they experience. The series has undertones of Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. To enjoy this series you would need to understand “cult” movies, as there are subtle references throughout, for example, one employee of Kill Co wares a mask, and invites friends over for dinner, (for those who don’t know, Silence of the Lambs). Film references come thick and fast. The series has 12 episodes which is two episodes two long. The pace was excellent, and the comedy timings of the voice artists were superb. The attitudes of Millennial's was fascinating, from self-absorbed social media junkies to dedicated diligent workaholics. Its wacky view on life and death is interesting. Anyone in business is a target, especially if money is a driving force. Environmental issues and morality were discussed about who should be added to the ‘hit list’. I am not sure I like the concept of glamorising killing but there are laughs out loud moments, some sophisticated dialogue that moves the story from one subject to the next. I wouldn’t recommend this to my father, however, my nephew would love it. A new cult audio production has just been created. Here is a link to my website if you are interested in listening to the podcast, however you will need a membership to Audible. GARDENSCAPE
This Is About Trees - Planting Trees! Lots Of Them - In Faringdon This Winter! Of course, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; but the next best time is this November. Why November? First Reason: while a tree is resting from producing leaves and fruit, it has more energy to make good roots. The soil is also ideal - still warm from the summer, but not too dry. Second Reason : in November this year there is a Global Climate Conference. The UK is hosting a 12-day meeting in Glasgow with the world’s climate scientists and political leaders. This is being seen as the last chance for the world to step back from the brink of complete climate disaster. Will a few hundred trees in Faringdon make any difference? Yes – Every Single One. Planting a tree is hopeful and practical. Let’s show our children and grandchildren that we believe in the future. Let’s tell the world’s leaders that we are watching them and we expect them to get it right this time. And each tree will be removing carbon from the atmosphere for years to come, while also giving a home to countless birds and insects and smaller plants and fungi. A small step to add greatly to the beauty and health of the earth and everything that is in it. Will you branch out with us this November (or in fact anytime up to next March)? Order a tree now, ready for planting in the winter. Find out how, at the Information Centre, or the Mustard Seed Shop, or go to www.faringdon.org

ART & CRAFT TO WARM YOUR HOME AND YOUR HEART Husband and wife team, Jennifer and Andrew Harrison work together under the same roof in the Cotswold town of Witney. Jennifer runs the SOTA Gallery and Andrew is in charge of Witney Framing. Andrew served for 24 years in the British Army and Jennifer was in property management. Whilst in the Army, Andrew took a carpentry apprenticeship, as he had always wanted to be a furniture maker. However, he found that instead he was drawn to sculpture and, as part of his resettlement package, the Army sent him to work with a world-renowned sculptor in France. Once Andrew retired, he and Jennifer decided it was time to open their own gallery to showcase the best of Oxfordshire and British Art – and so SOTA was born. When the businesses first opened in 2012, they were in a much smaller building, but they later moved to larger premises just next door off the main Market Square in the pedestrian walk of Langdale Court. The new building really lends itself well to being a gallery where it’s possible to display and show more work. Jennifer said: “Andrew and I work well together. We are a great team.”
The art and craft is very varied: Original Art, ceramics, prints, glass, sculpture, jewellery and limited edition prints. These wonderful works are on display in the gallery for people of all ages and from all over Oxfordshire and beyond to visit, enjoy and purchase. Jennifer, who was born in Oxfordshire, said: “We have a wide variety of styles and subjects – there really is something for everyone.” Witney Framing is situated inside the SOTA Gallery and offers a range of standard-size frames as well as a bespoke service. Andrew said: “Picture frames are key in the overall presentation of art. Not only do frames enhance the final look of the piece, they also protect it. More often than not, a frame can even add monetary value to the painting. “We have seen a large increase in the sale of art since we re-opened our business post-lockdown in April 2021,” said Andrew. “People have spent a lot of time in their homes and have been re-decorating or re-modelling. Both Jen and I love what we do and are passionate about promoting the wonderful work of our artists.” The SOTA Gallery and Witney Framing can be found at 11 Langdale Court, Witney OX28 6FG and are open from MondaySaturday from 9am-5pm. The gallery is disabled, wheelchair and pushchair accessible. There is free parking for up to three hours located close by in the Woolgate car park behind Waitrose. Find out more from: www.sotagallery.co.uk or contact: sotagallery@gmail.com.

Country Life Faringdon Day Centre for the elderly has now reopened after the Covid shutdown and is keen to welcome new clients. We meet every Monday and Thursday, 9.15am- 2.15pm, in Faringdon Baptist Church Hall for socializing, games, activities, refreshments and a freshly cooked two-course lunch – all for the cost of £12. Come for a taster visit for free. Local transport can be available if needed. For more information contact Annamaria on 07523 116 918. The spooky days have just passed us and the sparkling and twinkly ones are just upon us as everywhere starts to adorn the festivities ready for Christmas… BUT, I don’t want to talk about Christmas just yet and thought I’d come up with some fun and creative ways for you to dispose of your pumpkins instead of leaving them to rot on the street or throwing them in the bin and letting them go to waste. Idea 1 - If you didn’t carve yours into a spooky face or something for Halloween then why not cut the top off and scoop out the seeds for roasting. Roasted pumpkin seeds are delicious, especially dusted with vanilla sugar and make a perfect and nutritious snack.

Idea 2 - Why not fill your pumpkin with bird-seed or fat balls and leave it out for the birds, somewhere high up so they can feel safe and secure. It’s a fun thing to do, good for wildlife and something kids might enjoy! If you’ve got any other ideas or suggestions on what to do with pumpkins I'd love to hear them so head over to my Instagram page @hercountryliving or visit my blog www.hercountryliving.com and share them with the wider community! The rest of this month is going to be spent working (as always) but also cleaning up leaves in the garden as well as venturing out into the damp and cold weather to go mushroom hunting (for observation only) locally. Some of the coolest mushrooms we’ve seen have been amethyst deceivers which are edible (but please do not pick or eat these without a professional as they look similar to Lilac fibrecaps which are toxic). If you’d like to have a go at mushroom spotting you’ll need to go out ready to look at the ground, up trees and in damp and warmer places (woodlands are ideal). Some of our favourite locations are local and you might even find some growing in your back garden.

If you are looking for fun recipes and things to forage, head over to my Instagram page @hercountryliving where you can find lots of fun tips and ideas for ways to cook easily identified things such as blackberries and apples. Which, if you’re lucky (as the season is now over) you might find lurking in hedgerows and bushes around the local area, but mostly you’ll find tips to keep in mind for next year! Just a reminder, if you’ve got neighbours who have pets, please be mindful of fireworks and loud noises over the next week. Some may have pets that are triggered by loud noises so it’s always best to check in if you’re planning a fireworks party.

Argentinean Wines
Tesco do a lovely Malbec in their finest range and Waitrose have one called Beefsteak club plus some brilliant bargains at Aldi. Sainsbury take the prize for the most Malbec wines on offer, with up to 27 on offer. The bulk of the £6 - £8 bottles will deliver all the flavours you expect at a great price. Spending a little more - £10 - £12 does get more intense flavours, but it is all down to your preference. This month I have picked Argentina for my focus. The wines from this country are plentiful on our supermarket shelves, so there is ample choice. The most common style of wine we get is of course Malbec, which delivers a lovely deep red coloured wine, a hint of blackberry and other dark fruits, plus some spice in the smell. On tasting the wine, you should get the dark fruits like blackberry and dark plums, plus more of the spice and perhaps vanilla. These last two flavours are strongest if the wine has spent some time maturing in oak casks. The tannins are moderate in intensity, which offset the medium levels of acidity that you taste. The result is a nicely balanced wine that is easy drinking. All this makes Malbec a great wine for barbecue season, but also for most roast meats and tomato based pasta dishes. The bulk of Argentina’s wines are grown in a plateau around Mendoza, going North and South from this city. The vineyards are to the east of the Andes, so get the benefit of meltwater runoff to boost the growing season, but also suffer from hail storms early in the growing season.
WE LOOK AFTER YOU! FREE COURTESY CAR, MODERN WITH AIR CONDITIONING
As the Malbec grape is a red variety, you can get a rose made from this grape. keep an eye out as both Aldi and Sainsbury offer this wine. You will get a nice salmon pink colour and gentle hints of strawberry when you smell it. The taste should show off the strawberry and other red summer fruits with a modest acidity and the taste hangs around for a short time.. Keep an eye out for high altitude wines, as these will show even better flavours as the cooler temperatures of high vineyards help the flavours to concentrate. Even the standard Malbec vineyards are around 2,500 feet above sea level, Which is a lot higher than most other countries. In fact the Altura Máxima" (10170 ft ) claims to be the highest vineyard in the world and is used in a blend of Malbec grapes from various high altitude vineyards for a Colomé Malbec Calchaquí Valley Salta found at Waitrose. I hope you enjoy your wines this month and please drink responsibly. Ian, your wine enthusiast.

Healthy Living!
| The Advertiser | page 23 |
Make Those Changes Is it going as well as you expected? Last month we looked at 4 fundamentals to keep you healthy and well. My aim in life is to be healthy, live long and be happy, maybe yours is too. To achieve this goal we sometimes have to make changes to our current lifestyle. Poor health can make every day activities difficult or even impossible and the way to good health can seem incredibly complex. There are tweaks you can make to improve your energy levels, even if you’re already exercising regularly and eating good sources of protein and plenty of vegetables. So what can you do? 1. Well, of course, keep exercising! Little and often is more effective than one or two marathon sessions a week, and easier to fit in. Anything you do is better than doing nothing! 2. Eat well. Avoid ultra-processed foods as much as possible, eat a few more vegetables, enjoy seasonal fruit and increase your variety of protein sources. Prepare more of your own meals from scratch, and don’t be frightened of making ‘mistakes’. A simple salad or a mixed vegetable, hummus, or chicken wholemeal wrap is so easy to create and better than a bought sandwich for a lunchtime snack. 3. Reduce stress. Often easier said than done, but stress saps your energy. Mindfulness, tai chi or yoga or a walk outside at lunchtime could help. 4. If you are constantly on the go, prioritise so you do less, either at work or at home. Decide what is important to you and put that at the top of your priority list! Ask for extra help if you need it. 5. Sleep is incredibly important to keep your energy levels up and reduce stress. If you’re not sleeping well exercise and relaxation can help, consider improving your sleep hygiene, and do seek help if these don’t work for you. So how can you possibly achieve all of this? It’s not as difficult as you might think. Focus on one or two areas that you know you can change or feel you want to change. Just a few tweaks, if you can keep them up, could make a tremendous difference in the long run! Fitness device of the month: Massage guns I’ve just invested in a message gun, I thought I’d share my experience with it. ● Why - percussive massage therapy is the new foam rolling! ● What does it do? – it helps to prevent body aches and pains, reduces muscle tension, increases blood flow to reduce soreness, tightness and pain. ● Cost - £30 to £300 ● Points to note – massage guns aren’t suitable for everyone; look at reviews before you buy. Some can be too brutal for home or non- professional use. The cheap ones can break easily. I bought the MuscleGun Carbon Go not too expensive at £129.00, I found it well-made and effective. At the end of the day you need to know why you are buying it, what your budget is and how much you will use it. See what you change this month to improve your energy levels! David Johnston MP Parish News
Drive Well For Less
I’ve just been appointed to a new role, Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Department for Education. PPSs are support roles to the ministers in a department: they help MPs to get issues resolved within their constituencies that relate to the department’s work; help ministers in any debates or question sessions in their area; and generally act as eyes and ears to spot problems which are bubbling up. They are non-ministerial, unpaid roles but a great way to understand how government really works – and it’s the perfect department for me given my pre-politics career working with young people. The only downside is you’re not allowed to speak in debates that relate to the work of your department! I was pleased to welcome Zac Goldsmith, Minister for the Environment, to the constituency recently. He visited the Buscot and Coleshill estates, where there is a Government Woodlands for Water project in which trees are planted along riverbanks (known as riparian planting), which can help to improve water quality, manage flood risks and boost biodiversity. I took the opportunity to take him to Greencore’s Springfield Meadows development in Southmoor to show him what is possible with housebuilding and he was just as impressed as the other ministers I’ve taken there – I’m hoping if enough see it we’ll in turn see much more of it around the county and the country. The Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme has been running since 1989 and is designed to give MPs and Lords of all parties a better understanding of life in the armed forces. You apply to take part and I was accepted and have chosen the army strand (rather than the navy or air force strand) as my dad was in the army for many years. We happened to kick off in Shrivenham, at the Defence Academy of the UK, for a 2-day induction and we have a year of trips to different bases scheduled. We get to experience some of the same accommodation, food and exercises as those serving and quiz people at all levels. None of us are under any illusion it is truly comparable to what they experience, but my admiration for serving personnel has only grown. It has been a bumper period of constituency events. There have been too many to mention here – 8 in one weekend last month – but highlights include the Wantage parade to celebrate 100 years of the British Legion and 80 years of the Air Training Corps; Faringdon’s Big Green Week exhibition in the Corn Exchange; the Didcot Food Festival; opening the new stables of the Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary in Brightwellcum-Sotwell; and the 40th anniversary of the Wantage Community Church. Special mentions too for the Hanney Michaelmas Fayre and the thank you party for vaccine volunteers at Mably Way. It has been great to see so many people out and about. Now onto the Christmas events! Free Menopause Workshop Free Menopause Workshop held by local GP’s, organised by the Pump House Project. All women will experience the menopause and sadly the list of symptoms are fairly endless and can drastically affect a woman's day to day life. Are you, like so many others, suffering from hot flushes, night sweats, difficulty sleeping, a reduced sex drive, problems with memory and concentration, vaginal dryness/pain or discomfort, headaches, mood changes, (such as low mood or anxiety), palpitations, joint stiffness, reduced muscle mass or recurrent UTI’s? If this is your reality then hopefully there is some light at the end of the tunnel, and a supportive free session to discover your options. The menopause awareness workshop in Faringdon, delivered by White Horse Medical Practice GP’s Dr Glover and Dr Braddy, is to be held on the 25th November, 2021 at the Bowls Club, Gravel Walk, Faringdon SN7 7JN. Organised by the National Lottery Funded project, Brighter Futures, the initiative that offers free courses to the Faringdon Community and makes up part of the Pump House Project’s diverse charity activities. The event will start at 7pm and give you the opportunity to ask the GP’s questions, as well as find out more about treatments and help available. The session will run until around 8.30pm and tea and coffee will be provided for free. The Bowls club is off of Gravel Walk, Faringdon, the last turning on the left as you head out of Faringdon towards Letchlade, just before Aunties Emporium. There is a large car park and parking for around 50 cars. There has already been a lot of interest in this course, via a post on the community facebook group, I Live in a Town of Faringdon, where around 70 women expressed interest. BUTTON BICYCLE Festive workshops in November and December Lottie Baxter was born in Derbyshire, grew up in Yorkshire and moved to Faringdon 12 years ago with her now husband, Steven. They live together with their two young boys – Henry (8) and Isaac (4) – in an old Georgian house that they are currently renovating and doing all the work themselves. Lottie started her creative workshops business, Button Bicycle, seven years ago but, due to the birth of her second child, the house renovation project and then a broken ankle, Lottie decided she needed to take a small sabbatical from work. However, due to the pandemic, this turned out to be a much longer break than was originally intended. Now Lottie’s youngest child has started school and the renovation project is under control, so Lottie is full of enthusiasm and ideas for new workshops for her business. Lottie has always had a passion for design and creating beautiful things and has a BA Honours degree in Art and Design specialising in textiles. As a former teacher, she got a buzz from teaching new things and seeing the pride on people’s faces when they achieved something wonderful. Her light-bulb moment came when she realized she could have the best of both worlds – run creative workshops and teach people how to make beautiful things. Button Bicycle workshops are open to anyone wanting to relax, have fun, be creative and learn new skills. “I take inspiration for the items I make from the natural world,” explained Lottie. “We are so lucky to have such beautiful countryside on our doorstep, which gives me lots of ideas.” Lottie says she is at her happiest when she is either in the countryside being inspired or creating something new in her studio. “I really love Christmas and the Festive workshops are my absolute favourite,” said Lottie. For the Festive season, Button Bicycle is offering workshops and takeaway boxes in November and December on the ‘Joy of Wreath Making’ to help clients create their own fresh foliage wreath and ‘Christmas Delights’ workshops, which is a relaxed social workshop where participants have the opportunity to make five festive items. Lottie would love to invite you to enjoy the creative world of inspiration, tutorials, workshops, advice and beautiful products. She said: “We offer a relaxed and friendly environment for clients to unleash their inner creativity. Clients have said my tuition is patient and encouraging. I like to think we provide an atmosphere that allows people to flourish. If you can imagine it, you can create it.” To find out more, contact Lottie at: buttonbicycle@gmail.com or visit www.buttonbicycle.co.uk or find Button Bicycle on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

So what is Aromatherapy? Aromatherapy has been popular for centuries, it is the use of concentrated plant extracts (essential oils) for therapeutic purposes. The essential oils can be used to treat both physical and emotional conditions. The sense of smell is the only sense connected to the area of the brain which controls emotional, physical, and psychological responses. How do you use essential oils? Essential oils enter the body either through the skin, which has a longer lasting effect, or through inhalation, which reaches the brain faster. An aromatherapy treatment starts with a consultation looking at the main systems of the body to work out a combination of up to 3 oils that are bespoke to the needs of an individual, and with 43 oils available there are over 12,000 unique combinations! Massage and aromatherapy - the ultimate combination Massage is one of the most common ways of using essential oils, the oils enter the bloodstream and circulate around the body. You get all the benefits of a massage, plus the therapeutic properties of the essential oils. Many studies have been conducted over the years on the benefits of regular massage on all areas of the body. Physical touch has been shown to balance and slow the nervous system, as a result, your heart rate goes down, your blood pressure drops, and your stress-hormone levels fall, leaving you feeling calmer. This in turn can aid and improve sleep patterns, allowing the body more time in the deep restorative stages of sleep, which again loops back to lowering stress levels. Regular massage can boost your immune system by increasing the circulation of white blood cells, the body’s natural defence against infections. Tight muscles due to tension, poor posture or exercise are also helped by massage, increasing blood and nutrients to the muscles and loosening them. The aromatherapy consultation is free, the bespoke oils can be used in a number of treatments from relaxation to deep tissue or hot stone massage.

CRowDy & RoSE SoliCitoRS Dear Friends You would have thought in the 21st Century this would not be a problem. But it is. The decision to undertake road works on the dreaded A40 near where I live recently meant a number of drivers decided to use an alternate route from Witney to Oxford via Long Hanborough. But while the workmen were about to undertake their work on the A40, others decided to dig holes at the same time in Bladon and on the road between Long Hanborough and Witney on the A4095 with temporary traffic lights in both locations. This followed on from several occasions recently where holes were dug in Long Hanborough with all the delays that we faced for several weeks. This seems never ending – the digging of holes. Mind you that’s nothing compared to the temporary traffic lights on the A41 in between Bicester and Waddesdon that have been there for more than five months! I have the misfortune of using this road every Thursday and spend a long time in both directions waiting to get through them. As I sit every week and wait, I try to work out what can take more than five months to complete a job. I still have no idea. Is it too much to ask that roadworks be planned systematically to avoid multiple works on already busy roads? It’s not rocket science! But the one thing I’ve noticed in myself and others as a result of Covid19 is we’ve all had to learn to be more patient whether we are queuing at temporary lights or at the shops. And maybe that’s not a bad thing as we live in a crowded Country and we need to make allowances for one another. I just wish the travelling public would be treated with more understanding especially as some journeys are for important appointments at hospital etc.

It focuses for the first time on his travels through the Alps, Italy and the Low Countries from 1490-1520. Inspired by the many artists and places he visited, Dürer experimented with different media and increased in fame and influence. It is the first significant UK exhibition of the artist’s works for many years and includes over a hundred paintings, drawings, prints and documents loaned from galleries and private collections worldwide. Most of the exhibits are on display in Britain for the first time. As well as works with religious subjects, the exhibition will include portraits and some of his most beautiful and engaging drawings in which Dürer recorded the people, places and animals he saw.
