Во времена, когда Ева Лонгория работала кассиром в одной из техасских торговых сетей по продаже гамбургеров, она пообещала себе, что если однажды станет голливудской звездой, свет от её сияния обогреет тех, кто нуждается в нем больше всего. When Eva Longoria was working as a cashier at a burger chain in Texas (USA), she promised herself that if one day she managed to reach the Hollywood sky, the light from her star would bathe those who are the most in need. And she has kept her word. Small in stature, but huge in heart, the ‘ex desperate housewife’ was –together with Ricky Martin– the host of the 5th edition of the Global Gift Gala, celebrated on the 17th of November at the Four Seasons in Park Lane, London.

Behind the image of a powerful woman dressed in high couture clothes and invaluable jewels, Victoria hides a heart that feels and suffers just as much as any other. Before receiving the ‘Global Gift Philanthropreneur’ Humanitarian Award for her charity work on ‘Malaria no more’, ‘Mothers2Mothers’ and ‘The Elton John Foundation’, she confessed “when I visited Africa for the first time this year, I noticed I had changed as a person. I quickly knew that I had to do something to help, I still don’t know how, but I know I want to help and I am still learning. It’s the start of my journey and I am ready”. Victoria and David Beckham are calculated to have a combined fortune of more than 250 million euros, which allows them live like real royalty.

uring the one evening where luxury was not at odds with charity, this beauty competed in a duel among the numerous ladies that walked the red carpet. Victoria Beckham won, with regards to the number of photographic flashes. A celebrity in her own right, she has just opened her own store in the English capital and on the night, wore a long black dress from her own VB brand, which simulated two pieces, a straight skirt with a long back zip and an attached silk shirt with a double opening slit in the front and back. Her friend Eva also chose a VB dress, with a transparent front that showed her bra, and closed with a full length zip running down the back to highlight her sought after ‘derriere’.
Also an embodiment of style and elegance was Hawaiian singer Nicole Scherzinger, girlfriend of F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton, who looked spectacular in a tight silver dress, with a one shoulder cut that fell to perfection; Tallia Storm, the R&B/soul Scottish singer was the centre of attention with her afro style hair, trouser and jacket in imitation snake skin and a bright boa, as well as the singer Sarah Jane Crawford who was wearing a very suggestive cobalt blue dress.

Other guests included the choreographer Brian Friedman, the actress Lindsay Lohan, the singer Pixie Lott and the TV star Steve Jones with his new wife Phylicia Jackson, among many other guests who payed between 1,000 and 20,000 british pounds to attend this charity event where more than £ 300,000 were collected.

Among so many female beauties, the male touch was provided by Ricky Martin, another of the night’s big winners, as a percentage of the evening’s collections will go to The Ricky Martin Foundation, which fights against human trafficking (prostitution, child paedophilia and forced marriages), regarded as the second most lucrative business in the world, after narco-trafficking. The Puerto Rican singer surprised all those attending by singing his big hit ‘María’.

The other two organizations that profited from the event were the Eva Longoria Foundation –which helps women and children in the Latin community through education and promoting entrepreneurial spirit– and the Global Gift Foundation, which supports vulnerable women and children from around the world, and for which on this occasion the money raised will be put to use in Malaga, as according to a study by UNICEF there is a neighbourhood in this city with one of the highest levels of poverty in Europe.

In 2013, María Bravo and Alina Peralta, from Spain and Nicaragua respectively, created the Global Gift Foundation, a non-profit organization destined to create a positive impact on the lives of children, women and families in different parts of the world thanks to the help of celebrities, charitable giving companies, influential people and global brands who want to help to achieve a global impact of transformation. Currently there are big charitable parties organised in nine different countries, and the next meetings will be held in 2015 in Mexico DF, Istanbul, Moscow, Los Angeles, Miami, Cannes and Monaco.
