Το "Ground and Underground Stories" είναι ένα project που η αρχική του ιδέα γεννήθηκε στον καιρό των lockdown. Ο χώρος εργασίας μου έγινε και ο χώρος έκ φρασης μου. Κάπου έχω διαβάσει τη φράση "ο χώρος είναι η πνοή της τέχνης"∙ ό,τι και να σημαίνει αυτό, εγώ είμαι ευγνώμων που είχα το "προνόμιο" να οικειοποιηθώ το χώρο του γκαράζ, το φως του, το σκοτάδι, τα χρώματα του, τους ανθρώπους του για να προκύψουν οι εικόνες

Ground and Underground Stories

"Ground and Underground Stories" is a project conceived during the lock down. My workplace became my space of expression. I have read somewhere the phrase "space is the inspiration for art"; whatever this might mean, I am grateful that I had the "privilege" to take up the space of the garage and be in spired by its light, its darkness, its colors, and its people to create my images. I discovered colors beyond my imagination and images wavering between realism and surrealism.

Since 2017 he has been involved in pho tography and attending the courses of Vassilis Gerontakos for five years. He has taken part in two group exhibitions:

the exhibition on the theme of time at the Melina Merkouri Foundation and the Door Ajar exhibition at the Luminous Eye gallery.

Συναισθήματα που επιπλέουν στο ασυνείδητο εικονοποιούνται μέσα από σκηνοθε τημένα πλάνα ως ανάγκη να βιωθεί εκείνο που δε βιώθηκε, να δοθεί ερμηνεία σε κάθε τι που έμεινε θολό και αναπάντητο. Σ’ ένα περιβάλλον που κινείται μεταξύ ονείρου και πραγματικότητας, μουντό, ασαφές και κάποιες φορές σουρεαλιστικό και μυστηριώδες, το σώμα πρωταγωνιστεί, γίνεται αποδέκτης όλων των σημάτων που δέχεται και είναι εκείνο που αναλαμβάνει να διαπεράσει την ομίχλη του νου και να απεικονίσει το συναίσθημα. Η επίπονη αυτή προσπάθεια που άλλες φορές επιτυγχάνεται και άλλες όχι, ενσωματώνεται στον ψυχισμό μου και με βοηθά να μάθω τι προσπαθώ να πω και πώς, και τότε συμβαίνει η μαγεία. Είναι η δική μου εκδοχή της θεραπείας.

H Ιωάννα Κοφινά γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα, ζει και εργάζεται στον Πειραιά. Σπούδασε οικονομικά στο Πάντειο Πανεπιστήμιο. Η ενασχόληση της με τη φωτογραφία ξε κινά στα εφηβικά χρόνια ως μέσο προσω πικής έκφρασης και ανάγκης θέασης και ερμηνείας του κόσμου.

Το 2016-17 φοίτησε στη σχολή φωτογρα φίας "Focus". Το 2018 παρακολούθησε

σεμινάρια με θέμα τη φωτογραφία στον κινηματογράφο στη φωτογραφική ομάδα "Διαδρομές" ενώ από το 2018 έως σήμερα παρακολουθεί μαθήματα καλλιτεχνικής φωτογραφίας με το Βασίλη Γεροντάκο. Έχει λάβει μέρος σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις ενώ φωτογραφίες της έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε ξένο έντυπο.

Are you there?

Emotions floating in the unconscious are visualized through staged shots as a need to experience the unexperienced, to interpret everything that has remained blurred and unanswered. In an environment moving between dream and reali ty, being hazy, unclear and sometimes surreal and mysterious, the body is the protagonist, becomes the receiver of all signals; it is this body that undertakes to penetrate the haze of the mind and depict the emotion. This arduous effort, sometimes successful and sometimes not, is embedded in my psyche and helps me to understand what I'm trying to say and how; it’s then that magic happens. This is my own version of therapy.

Ioanna Kofina was born in Athens. She lives and works in Piraeus. She studied economics at Panteion University. Her involvement with photography begins in adolescence as a means of personal ex pression and the need to see and inter pret the world.

In 2016-17 she attended the "Focus" photography school. In 2018 she attend

ed seminars on photography in cinema at the photographic group "Common Routes" and from 2018 until today she attends art photography courses with Vasilis Gerontakos. She has taken part in group exhibitions.

Many of her photographs have been pub lished in a foreign publication.

Η Κρυσταλλία Ιωαννίδου γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Είναι graphic designer. Αποφοίτησε από τη Σχολή Βακαλό (Vakalo Art & Design College) στην Αθήνα, σπού δασε "Ιστορία Τέχνης και Κοινωνιολογία" στη Σορβόννη και αργότερα "Makeup artist and special effects για θέατρο και κινημα τογράφο", στη σχολή Αυγερινοπούλου, με δάσκαλο τον Αlain Moizet. Εργάστηκε ως υπεύθυνη δημιουργικού σε έντυπα μόδας, όπως, μεταξύ άλλων, το Maska di moda, το Γερμανικό Burda moden και την ελληνική έκδοση του αμε ρικανικού Vogue.

Με τη δημιουργική φωτογραφία ασχολείται συστηματικά απο το 2016 έως σήμερα με δασκαλο τον Βασίλη Γεροντάκο. Είναι μέλος της Ελληνικής Φωτογραφικής Εταιρείας (ΕΦΕ), έχει διακριθεί σε διαγωνι σμούς φωτογραφίας της ΕΦΕ και έργα της έχουν συμπεριληφθεί σε επετειακά Λευ κώματα της Εταιρείας. Έχει

I Adore the Japanese art

Van Gogh and other prominent artists fell under the influence of the art of Japan, of the great Japanese engraver Hiroshige Utagawa and the technique ukiyo-e and produced incredible pieces of work.

Inspired by this trend in art and photography, I created the "Japonerie", a pho tography project, with which I participated in the "Door Ajar" photo exhibition at Luminous Eye Gallerie, curated by Vasilis Gerontakos, as well as in the Japan Festival Greece 2022, at Serafio Municipal Centre of Athens.

She graduated from Vakalo Art & Design College in Athens, studied "History of Art and Sociology" at Sorbonne and "Makeup artist and special effects for theatre and cinema" at the Avgerinopoulos School, as a student of Alain Moizet. She held various posts as creative director in fashion magazines, such as, i.a., Mas ka di Moda, the German Burda moden, and the Greek edition of the American Vogue.

She started working on creative photogra phy, from 2016 to today, under Vasilis Gerontakos.

She is a member of the Hellenic Photo graphic Society (HPS), awarded in HPS photography contests, her works being published in the Society's anniversary Al bums. She has participated in numerous group photo exhibitions in Athens, Thes saloniki and elsewhere. Her works have been published and awarded in various international photography magazines.

Έχω ονομάσει αυτό το project Ίσαλος και αυτό γιατί o όρος ίσαλος ή ίσαλος γραμ μή, ορίζεται ως το επίπεδο από την οριζόντια τομή της επιφάνειας της θάλασσας με το πλοίο στο σημείο που αυτό ισορροπεί και επιπλέει. Με αυτό το project θέλησα να σηματοδοτήσω τα όρια της ύπαρξης μας όπως την ισορροπία ανάμεσα στο φως και στο σκοτάδι, τα όρια του ανθρώπου με αυτά της φύσης, της ζωής και του θανάτου, της σύνθεσης και της αποσύνθεσης, της πραγ ματικότητας με το όνειρο, της ευτυχίας και της λύπης. Σε όλο το φάσμα της ύπαρ ξης του, ο άνθρωπος βρίσκεται σ’ έναν αέναο μαγικό χορό πάνω σ’αυτή τη γραμμή των απόλυτων αντιθέσεων.

Rania Symidala Isalos / Waterline

Waterline is the line where the hull of a ship meets the surface of the water. The waterline marks the balance between the light and the darkness, the limits of human being to those of nature, life and death, composition and decompo sition, euphoria and sorrow. Throughout human existence, man sways in an eternal magical dance, on this line of absolute oppositions.

Rania Symidala was born, raised and re sides in Athens. She has graduated from the Technical University of Business Administration of Patras and she works in the private sector. In the year 1994-95 she attended the “Focus’ photography school. Since 2017, she has consciously decided to actively follow photography as an amateur, by participating in various photography groups. Initially, she attend ed seminars on fine art photography by

Amalia Kaloussi, Vassilis Mathioudakis, Io Paschou, Costas Goudis, Giorgos Asi makopoulos and Vassilis Gerontakos. She has taken part in group exhibitions. Highlights of her course so far, have been her work as curator for photography for the play "Mideniki Mnimi" at the "Rouf theatre" and as photographer in the per formance "Interior" in the multiplex "Ap lika".

Photography, as a means of ex pression, highlights its multi dimensional nature, setting new ways of reading the world around us… The artistic approach high lights some of the properties of its multiple nature and becomes at the same time the ideal tool for expression and communication, installing a new language with its own codes.

Luminous Eye, aware of the new era, becomes the messenger of all this search for new data and in vites you all to participate, in your own special way, in the creation of Luminous Eye Zine. Its edition will be presented every 2 months by Luminous Eye, which under takes the management and pres entation of this new visual dic tionary.
