Elgin Academy’s Summer Program provides opportunities for active learning by offering a variety of enrichment, athletic, academic, and creative programs for students in preschool through grade twelve. Participants can choose from a diverse selection of programs allowing them to follow their own interests and to personalize their summer experience. In EA’s Summer Program, students develop self-confidence, try out new pursuits, assume leadership roles, and take risks with innovative new concepts in a supportive environment. Summer Theater June 20 - July 8 | 1st-12th Grades The summer theater program provides an emotionally safe environment where students are comfortable taking risks for their own personal growth and can acquire a sense of accomplishment through creative experiences.

Musical Theater Camp Elgin Academy’s Musical Theater Camp combines all the components of a professional performance in a fun camp atmosphere! Every participant will be assigned a role to perform for a final presentation and work together with staff to help create sets, costume pieces, and props. Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Fee: $650

Special Performance Families are invited to a special performance on Friday, July 8, 6:00 p.m. in the Kimball Street Theatre.

ADVENTURE CAMP PROGRAM June 13 - August 5 | PS-8th Grades Enrollment can be customized to fit your summer schedule; attend only the weeks that work for your family or choose the per-day option. Morning, afternoon, and extended care programs are also available.

Adventure Camp Adventure Camp offers a fun and engaging program with exciting daily themes. Different hands-on enrichment activities are planned for each day. Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Fee: $25 per day Afternoon Adventure Make it a full day of camp and stay for Afternoon Adventure! Our afternoon session includes plenty of outdoor activities, sports, projects, and swimming. Time: 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Fee: $25 per day

Extended Care Program Extend your day to include more exciting camp activities with your new friends. Join us for quiet morning activities in Camp Sunrise or continue the fun in the afternoon with Camp Sunset. steam PROGRAMs June 13 - July 29 | K-9th Grades STEAM programs focus on guided student inquiry, active learning, and critical thinking that allow students to connect principals in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. STEAM programs foster students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problemsolving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.

Snapology’s Space Wars Robotics Campers will build and program different functional robots using LEGO® bricks inspired by Star Wars® and space travel! Build different robots each day. Dates: June 13 - 16 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Grades: Entering 2 - 5 Fee: $160 Snapology’s Star Wars Camp Come and participate in Star Wars themed activities, build scenes from the movie, ships, lightsabers, and much more out of our HUGE selection of LEGO® bricks! Dates: June 20 - June 23 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Grades: Entering K - 5 Fee: $160

STEAM Explorers Maker Lab Camp Einstein practices the Innovator Mindset; tools which help strengthen our communication, collaboration, creative and critical thinking skills. Our highly trained Lead Explorers will help children select projects from the following modules, including: Music and Mechanical Engineering, Flight and Aerial Photography, Textiles and Technology, Reverse Engineering, 3D Printing, Robotics, and Augmented Reality with Google Cardboard. Students will have access to some of the latest technology tools such as 3D printers, computers, and laser cutters, as well as traditional crafts as they complete the projects. Our week is filled with making and tinkering, learning new tools, making new friends, inventing, and gaining confidence as an innovative thinker. The program includes a build kit that contains all materials needed to build each camper’s project(s). Campers will take home their kits, along with their final builds, at the end of the week.

Discovery Academy Discovery Academy provides Middle School students with an opportunity to follow their interests and discover new talents. The program focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) curriculum. The enrichment classes offered strive to encourage creativity, innovation, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Classes employ an active learning style and are designed to be interactive and hands-on. Instructors are certified teachers or have an expertise in their field. Students choose three classes from the course list below and will rotate through each of their chosen classes every morning, attending each class for ten sessions over the two weeks. Digital Art and Animation with Alice® and Muvizu® Learn how to animate objects within a virtual world. Discover principles of Java, C++ and C# as students tell a story or develop an interactive game.

Minecraft® Modding with Java® Create a game with 3D models and battle against powerful enemies. Implement modding into your gaming masterpiece using Java. Acquire resources and maintain health. There will be plenty of time to test your mods with other tekkies to investigate and discuss coding principles in action.

Introduction to Photoshop® In this hands-on class students will learn basic Photoshop® techniques by editing photos using the different tools available. Methods to isolate and merge objects, organize layers, clone images, adjust color composition, and contrast will be covered.

Automotive Mechatronics: Build Your Own Remote Controlled Car with Arduino Learn car design aspects, including aerodynamics, brakes, tires, and steering. Students will get a look into the design and optimization of various vehicle subsystems through an understanding of related physics concepts. Chemistry Work with and learn about polymers, ferrofluids, electroplating coins, and more! In addition to doing experiments in the lab, students will use their reasoning skills to help understand how these concepts are used in the world. Digital Filmmaking This program stresses the fundamental elements of visual storytelling, from screenwriting and storyboarding to shooting, editing, and postproduction. Learn filming techniques, how to modify sound quality and edit visual effects using Adobe Premiere Pro®. Cutting-edge filming equipment, drones, recording booth, and green screen technology are available for more advanced students. At the end of class students will share their work.

Introduction to 3D Printing 3D printing provides the potential for every student to create, innovate, and fabricate. In this class, students will learn about 3D printer hardware and the print process. They will also explore software that enables students to create, modify, and print their own 3D models. Computer Build with the Raspberry Pi: Game and App Development Campers won’t just learn how to use technology; they’ll learn how to create it. Through hands-on instruction and group problem solving, campers create games and apps on their very own computer system using a Raspberry Pi. LEGO® Combat Robots Come learn the basic strategies for building sturdy structures and then apply that knowledge to build a robot for friendly competition. Be prepared to have tons of fun! This class uses basic remote control and sensor technology to battle the robots.

Making an iPhone® Game Tekkies explore the process of creating iPhone apps. Kids experience basic programming, digital animation and sound to create fun and exciting games on iPhones. An iPhone is not required to take this camp as the games are developed on a computer. Drone Technology: Mini­Quadcopter Build Learn to design, build, and fly your very own drone! In this exciting, hands-on class, you will learn about the design, fabrication, and safe operation of drones by building your very own mini­quadcopter, which is a fully functional drone. Mechanical Engineering: Product Design 1.0 In this exciting Intro to Product Design class, participants will construct a functioning prototype of a creation they designed. Our highly trained Lead Explorers will help children select projects that focus on mechanical construction, characteristics of sensors, motors and gears, and control strategies for autonomous devices.

summer athletics June 13 - August 5 | PS-12th Grades Elgin Academy’s summer Athletic Program creates an atmosphere that plays a significant role in shaping the character, integrity, and sportsmanship of all student-athletes.

Volleyball Camp Players will learn proper passing, setting, attacking, and serving. Through instructional drills and gamelike scenarios, players will improve decision-making skills and increase player reaction time.

Middle School Field Hockey Camp Focus on the fundamentals of field hockey, increasing knowledge in stick use, etiquette, field management, conditioning, and strategic play.

Individual skills include: shooting, dribbling, rebounding, passing, defensive and offensive moves. Tennis Champions Camp Players will receive focused instruction such as stroke technique, shot selection, and court awareness allowing them to develop and improve their overall tennis game. Dates: July 11 - 14 (Rain date - July 15) Time: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Grades: Entering 5 - 12 Fee: $140

Professional Coaches Professional coaches work to develop teamwork, improve skills, and foster the passion of each athlete.

Basketball Shooting Clinic Players will increase their shooting percentage, range, accuracy, and consistency through various drills, film, exhibitions, games, and 1-on-1 instruction. Dates: June 20 - 21 Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Grades Entering 5-8) Time: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Grades Entering 9-12) Fee: $70 Basketball Point Guard Clinic Players will focus on improving ball handling and play making, using ball screens, reading the defense, using jump stops, on ball defense, floor leadership, and basketball IQ. Dates: June 23 - 24 Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Grades Entering 5-8) Time: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Grades Entering 9-12) Fee: $70 Basketball Post Play Clinic Players will focus on body positioning, footwork, pivot movement, shot development, and post IQ. Dates: June 27 - 28 Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Grades Entering 5-8) Time: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Grades Entering 9-12) Fee: $70 Challenger British Soccer Camps British Soccer Camps give children a week of coaching from a staff of specially trained British soccer athletes which includes foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and daily tournaments. Dates: June 27 - July 1 First Kicks Ages: 3 - 4 yrs. Time: 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Fee: $106 Mini-Soccer Ages: 5 - 6 yrs. Time: 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Fee: $119

Little Dribblers Development of early basketball skills such as proper ball-handling, passing, and shooting are combined with the basic knowledge of the rules of the game and principles of teamwork, and sportsmanship. Dates: July 18 - 20 Time: 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Grades: Entering K - 3 Fee: $80 Jr. Hilltopper Basketball Camp Campers will focus on the five fundamentals of basketball, developing them through instruction, drills, games, and situational scenarios increasing confidence and ability in shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense. Dates: July 27 - 29 Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Grades: Entering 3 - 5 Fee: $110 EA Soccer Skills Clinics Improve technical abilities, dribbling, goal shooting, passing, and receiving the ball, while increasing enjoyment of the game.
