Cuando entras en Vela Blanca rápidamente te das cuenta de la pasión que siente su propietario, Jean Louis, por el mundo de la mar. Además de su amplia experiencia, es un gran viajero que ha recorrido muchas partes del mundo en busca de los sabores de cada cultura, por lo que su comida, exquisita y con mucho gusto, es una mezcla de la cocina mediterránea, con toques asiáticos y de muchas otras partes del planeta, que la definen como una cocina internacional fresca, que respeta por completo el sabor natural de los productos. El precio sorprende gratamente. Cuando miras su carta ves que se corresponde con los precios de muchos otros lugares bastante económicos, por lo que no esperas la gran calidad y cantidad que te encuentras cuando te sir-
ven la comida. Es un local donde comer muy bien a precios muy asequibles. Su terraza, al lado de la del centro de deportes acuáticos Line Up —cuyo propietario, Manu, es amigo de Jean Louis desde hace varios años—, es una terraza amplia y luminosa, de la que podrás disponer en caso de que quieras organizar algún evento privado. Esta zona de Corralejo además es muy cómoda, por ofrecer fácil aparcamiento, y por ser el paso a Grandes Playas; así que en Vela Blanca podrás saborear una exquisita comida antes de ir a disfrutar del mar o a la vuelta del mismo, o si quieres incluso podrás llevarte tu comida para disfrutarla en la playa.

When you enter Vela Blanca you quickly realise the passion of its owner, Jean Louis, for the world of the sea. A place with white and blue colours and exquisite decor that invites you to sit and eat and relax. They offer a varied lunch menu, also for vegetarians, with burgers, salads, sandwiches, quiches, and daily specials, which vary by day of the week; plus a large assortment of fresh fruits, making delicious natural juices and smoothies, which you can also take for breakfast with delicious select confectionery and good Lavazza coffee. Helmut, the chef, has behind him a professional background of almost 35 years, and has worked even in some Michelin star restaurants. In addition to his extensive experience, he is a great traveller who has travelled over many parts of the world in search of the flavours of each culture, so his exquisite and tasty food is a mix of Mediterranean cuisine with Asian touches and from many other parts of the world, which defines it as a fresh international cuisine, which fully respects the natural taste of the products. The prices are pleasantly surprising. When you look at the menu you realise that the prices are the same as those of many other places fairly inexpensive, so you do not expect the great quality and quantity that you find when you are served. It is a place where you eat very well at very affordable prices. Its terrace - next to the water sports center Line Up, whose owner, Manu, has been a friend of Jean Louis’ for several years- is a bright and spacious one, which can be at your disposal in case you want to organize a private event. This area in Corralejo is also very comfortable, as it offers easy parking, and it is in the way to Grandes Playas; so in Vela Blanca you can enjoy a delicious meal either before going to enjoy the sea or on your way back, or if you want you can even take your lunch away and enjoy it on the beach.

La 3ª edición del CSFF ha llegado con inmejorables condiciones de olas y viento. Desde el pasado 5 de septiembre y hasta el próximo 11 de octubre, este festival itinerante ha contado con Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Graciosa, Gran Canaria y Tenerife entre sus sedes. La gran selección de más de una docena de películas hace de sus proyecciones una propuesta cultural altamente recomendable. En su parada en Fuerteventura, del 10 al 13 de septiembre, el CSFF ha contado con la presencia de Pedro Temboury, director de «La Primera Ola», y con los directores de «Kwepunha Liberia», Leo McCrea y Sam Lang. Hemos aprovechado y los hemos entrevistado:

¿Qué significa para ti que la película forme parte de un festival itinerante como este? ¿Qué te parece la selección de películas del CSFF? Temboury: Una suerte y todo un honor. Que nuestro documental se vea en Canarias, dentro de un festival con tanta solera como es este, es todo un orgullo. La selección me parece fantástica (…). McCrea y Lang: Es muy importante haber sido seleccionados porque, como dice Chema Cavero —director del festival—, el CSFF no es una colección de películas de acción surfera, sino que reúne historias sobre la gente y la cultura del surf. Nuestra historia tiene su origen en un país que intenta mejorar después de haber sido devastado por la guerra, una historia contada a través del surf, por ello se ajusta perfectamente al resto de la selección.
¿Qué suponen, para un filmmaker, iniciativas como el Canary Islands Surf Film Award, que premia con 50.000€ el mejor producto audiovisual de surf rodado en Canarias? T: Son iniciativas estupendas que hacen que se fomente la producción audiovisual de surf. ¡El premio es fantástico! MC y L: No solo es una iniciativa fantástica para la promoción de las Islas Canarias, sino que el premio de 50.000€ podría ser la forma de que un filmmaker consiga hacer la película que quiere hacer. Creemos que es estupendo que Canarias apoye a los cineastas implicados en los deportes acuáticos. Como experto, ¿qué opinas de las condiciones que ofrece Canarias para la práctica de las disciplinas de olas y viento? ¿Destacarías algún spot? T: En nuestro documental, cuenta un pionero de Las Palmas, que Canarias es conocida como el Hawaii del Atlántico. Desde luego, son unas condiciones magníficas tanto de clima como

de las olas que encuentras, estos fondos de lava hacen una ola fuerte, rápida y tubera… ¡un paraíso para los surfistas! MC y L: Esta es la primera vez que hemos surfeado en las Islas Canarias. Estamos emocionados por haber sido invitados y muy felices de catar las olas y los increíbles paisajes de Fuerteventura. ¿Cómo nació el proyecto de la película? ¿Cuál fue el mayor reto al que se enfrentaron durante la producción? T: Por mi propia afición al surf, me encantan las historias de los pioneros y creo que a las nuevas generaciones les gustará conocer cómo se hacían las tablas y de qué manera se descubrían los spots que hoy son clásicos. MC y L: El concepto de la película nace debido a la cantidad de surf que vemos en los medios sociales de internet, en los que no aprendes nada del lugar ni de la población local. Queremos contar una historia real con el propósito de mostrar cómo el
surf ayuda realmente a la comunidad y a los individuos a crecer y a ser mejores. Nuestro mayor reto fue derribar muros y construir la confianza de la población local para que pudiéramos tener acceso a sus vidas y escuchar sus historias. ¿Tienen en mente algún nuevo proyecto? T: Sí claro, tengo varios, uno muy avanzado es Tamañeros, un documental sobre surfers de olas gigantes en la Península Ibérica y, por supuesto, también en Canarias. MC y L: Tenemos muchas ideas para otros proyectos en diferentes localizaciones donde hay historias increíbles sobre la población local que lucha contra las adversidades. CANARY SURF FILM FESTIVAL (CSFF) in Fuerteventura
The 3rd CSFF has arrived with unbeatable conditions of wind and waves. Since last September 5th until October 11th, this travelling festival has had Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Graciosa, Gran Canaria and Tenerife among its headquarters. The large selection of more than a dozen films turns its projections into a highly recommended cultural proposal. In its stop in Fuerteventura, from September 10th to 13th, the CSFF has been attended by Peter Temboury, director of «The First Wave» and the directors of «Kwepunha Liberia», Leo McCrea and Sam Lang. We have taken advantage of this situation and we have interviewed them:

What does it mean to you the fact that your films are part of such a travelling festival ? What do you think about the selection of films for the CSFF? Temboury: A privilege and an honour. The fact that our documentary is showed at the Canary Islands, within a festival with so much history as this one makes us feel very proud. The selection seems fantastic (...). McCrea and Lang: It is very important to have been selected because, as Chema Cavero says, director of the festival, the CSFF is not a surf film collection, but it gathers stories about the people and culture of surfing. Our story has its origin in a country that tries to improve after being devastated by the war, a story told through surf, so it fits perfectly with the rest of the selection. What do initiatives such as the Canary Islands Surf Film Award suppose for a film-maker, which awards € 50,000 to the best audiovisual surf production rolled in the Canaries? T: It is a great initiative that encourages surfing audiovisual production. The award is fantastic! MC and L: Not only a fantastic initiative for the promotion of the Canary Islands, but the prize of € 50,000 could be the way a film-maker manages to make the film he wants. We think it’s great that the Canary Islands support filmmakers involved in water sports. As an expert, what do you think of the conditions that the Canaries offer to practise the disciplines of waves and wind? Would you highlight some spot? T: In our documentary, a pioneer of Las Palmas says that the Canary Islands are known as the Hawaii of the Atlantic. Of course, It’s superb weather conditions that you find here; these lava sea beds make a strong and fast tube wave ... a paradise for surfers! MC and L: This is the first time we’ve surfed in the Canary Islands. We are excited to have been invited and very happy to try the waves and the incredible landscape of Fuerteventura. How did the film project come up? What was the biggest challenge you faced during its production? T: Because of my passion for surfing, I love stories of the
pioneers and I think the younger generation will like to know how the boards were made and how today’s classic spots were discovered. MC and L: The concept of the film was born because of the amount of surfing we see in social media in the Internet, where you do not learn anything about the place or the local people. We want to tell a true story in order to show how surfing really helps the community and individuals to grow and be better. Our biggest challenge was to tear down walls and build the confidence of local people so we could have access their lives and hear their stories. Do you have any new project in mind? T: Of course, I have several; one is very advanced,«Tamañeros», a documentary about surfers of giant waves in the Iberian Peninsula and, of course, also in The Canaries. MC and L: We have many ideas for other projects in different locations where there are incredible stories about local people struggling against adversity. We are seeking support for these projects. Fuerteventura: lugar para la conservación del elefante africano La isla de Fuerteventura ha sido elegida por la Unesco como una de las zonas ideales para desarrollar su programa de conservación del elefante africano, especie que en la actualidad se encuentra en peligro de extinción, debido a la caza furtiva y a la pérdida de su hábitat natural. En el zoo de la Lajita se cuenta con tres ejemplares de esta especie, dos hembras y un macho, para comenzar con este programa de conservación.
Se cierran ocho centros de enseñanza en el Archipiélago La bajada en las cifras de matriculación de estudiantes ha hecho que se cierren 8 centros de enseñanza no universitarias en el archipiélago Canario, entre ellos siete centros de Educación Infantil y Primaria, y una escuela de Educación Infantil, 3 de ellos en Fuerteventura: CEIP Cardón (Pájara), CEIP Tesjuates (Puerto del Rosario) y CEIP Agua de Bueyes (Antigua).
«Doctor Who» en Fuerteventura En poco más de un año son ya tres veces las que el equipo de la serie británica de ciencia ficción «Doctor Who» se desplaza a Canarias para buscar localizaciones para sus rodajes. El pasado mes, se rodaron en Fuerteventura escenas del final de la novena temporada de la serie, que ubica a su protagonista en un paisaje árido y desértico.
Fuerteventura y Lanzarote: hogar para cetáceos Las costas orientales de Fuerteventura y Lanzarote albergan 771 especies marinas diferentes, de las que 28 son cetáceos, según el proyecto Indemares, de la Fundación Biodiversidad. Esta cifra representa un tercio de la cantidad total de especies de cetáceos del mundo. Esto se debe a la Corriente Canaria, que es una derivación de la Corriente del Golfo, y también a los fuertes vientos alisios que soplan sobre la superficie, haciendo aflorar las aguas profundas, cargadas de nutrientes. .10
Con la propuesta para esta zona de Lugar de Importancia Comunitaria (LIC) a nivel europeo, queda protegida una superficie de casi un millón y medio de hectáreas de alto valor ecológico.
La Vuelta al Mundo en 80 Guitarras: 10 de octubre en el Auditorio de Corralejo La Vuelta al Mundo en 80 Guitarras es un proyecto que abarca tres pasiones: mar, artesanía y música. El objetivo principal es navegar por el mundo con un velero, el Om, de 10 metros de eslora, realizando un instrumento de cuerda en cada lugar al que se llega, teniendo en cuenta las tradiciones de cada zona. En su parada en las Islas Canarias, han decidido construir un timple. El 10 de octubre, a partir de las 21h., presentarán, en el Auditorio de Corralejo, «Canarias. Tejiendo sueños», un espectáculo musical y audiovisual, donde se mostrará el viaje que llevan realizando. En este maravilloso espectáculo se presentará el timple realizado en Fuerteventura. «La Familia Flotante», formación musical compuesta por cinco jóvenes provenientes de diferentes países (Italia, Barcelona, Alemania y Tenerife), que fusionan swing, flamenco, folk, latino..., estará presente en este espectáculo, junto a otros músicos de República Checa, Italia, Alemania, España... y contarán también con dos invitados muy especiales: Althay Paez Ramos, joven timplista majorero, que hará sonar por primera vez el timple construido, y Domingo Rodríguez Oramas, «El Colorao», reconocido timplista tanto dentro como fuera de las Islas Canarias.
11ª Edición del Campeonato de Surf y Bodyboard de Garcey El fin de semana del 17 y 18 de este mes de octubre, tendrá lugar la celebración de la 11ª Edición del Campeonato de Surf y Bodyboard de Garcey. Una año más, el club de surf “El Batiero” organiza este evento, que ya se ha posicionado en el mundo del surf de la isla majorera, con este campeonato que es toda una demostración de los buenos surfistas con que contamos en Fuerteventura. Un fin de semana para disfrutar
con la familia, en un ambiente deportivo y en contacto con la naturaleza.
Fuerteventura: the site for conservation of the African elephant The island of Fuerteventura has been chosen by UNESCO as one of the ideal areas to develop its programme of conservation of the African elephant, species which is currently in danger of extinction due to poaching and the loss of their natural habitat. In Lajita zoo there are three copies of this species, two females and a male, to start with this conservation programme.
With the proposal for this spot of Community Importance (SCI) at European level, an area of nearly a million and a half hectares of high ecological value is protected.
Round-the-world tour in 80 Guitars: October 10th, in the Auditorium of Corralejo
In a little over a year this is the third time that the team of the British sci-fi series «Doctor Who» moves to the Canary Islands to search locations for their film shootings. Last month, scenes belonging to the end of the ninth season of the series were shot in Fuerteventura, which places its main character in an arid desert landscape.
Round-the-world tour in 80 Guitars is a project covering three passions: the sea, crafts and music. The main objective is to navigate the world with a10-meter-long sailboat, Om, making a string instrument in every place they get to, considering the traditions of each area. In their stop in the Canary Islands, they have decided to make a «timple». On October 10th, from 21h., they will present, in the Auditorium of Corralejo, «Canarias. Tejiendo sueños» (Weaving dreams), a musical and audiovisual show, about the journey they are performing. In this wonderful show the «timple» made in Fuerteventura will be presented. «La Familia Flotante» musical formation composed of five young people from different countries (Italy, Barcelona, Germany and Tenerife), merging swing, flamenco, folk, latin ... will be present at this show, along with other musicians from Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, Spain ... and it will also have two very special guests: Althay Paez Ramos, young majorero «timple» player that will play for the first time the timple made in the island, and Domingo Rodríguez Oramas, «El Colorao» recognized «timple» player, both inside and outside the Canary Islands.

11th occasion of Garcey Surf and Bodyboard championship
The eastern coast of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote host 771 different marine species, 28 out of which are cetaceans, according to Indemares project, of the Biodiversity Foundation. This represents a third of the total number of cetacean species in the world. This is due to the Canary Current, which is a branch of the Gulf Stream, and also to the strong trade winds blowing over the surface, which bring back the deep waters, loaded with nutrients.
The weekend of October 17th - 18th the eleventh occasion of Garcey surf and bodyboard championship will take place. One more year, the surfing club “El Batiero” will organize this event, which already has a place in the surfing world of this “majorera” island, as this championship is a real display of the good surfers we have in Fuerteventura. It will be a weekend to enjoy with the family in a sporting environment and in contact with nature.
Eight schools are closed in the Archipelago The drop in student enrolment figures has led to the closing of eight non-university teaching centres in the Canary archipelago, among them seven centres of Primary and pre-school Education, and one kindergarten, 3 of them in Fuerteventura : CEIP Cardon (Pájara), CEIP Tesjuates (Puerto del Rosario) and CEIP Agua de Bueyes (Antigua).

Con tan solo 10 añitos, Octavio González Cabrera ya andaba por las calles de su Cotillo natal detrás de un bodyboard, y literalmente detrás, ya que casi no se le veía, tapado por un boogie que era más grande que él.
Being just 10, Octavio González Cabrera was waking along the streets of his native town, El Cotillo, behind a bodyboard, and we say literally «behind» because you could hardly see him, hidden by his boogie which was bigger than himself.
Las olas de Agustinos y La Puntilla, en el pueblo costero de El Cotillo, fueron su patio de recreo: olas con una potencia extraordinaria, que están entre los slabs de Europa más codiciados por bodyboarders de todas partes del globo. Así que es fácil imaginar el nivel que adquirió este chico en poco tiempo; con las ganas que siempre le puso, la valentía que lleva dentro y un campo de juego inmejorable, ¿qué más se puede tener? Hoy, con 22 años, Octavio despunta claramente en el mundo del bodyboard majorero y canario. Ha participado en campeonatos insulares (Fuerteventura), provinciales, del Circuito Canario y del Circuito Español (Ferrol), y el pasado invitacional de «El Quemao» (Lanzarote) fue su gran debut y el mejor campeonato de su vida, donde dejó sin aliento a más de uno, dentro y fuera del agua. Desde hace unos 6 meses, su gran amigo Riccardo Ricci, dueño de la tienda «El Cotillo T-Shirt», ha decidido ayudar en el patrocinio de Octavio. Ricky ha estado a su lado desde hace varios años, grabando algunas de sus sesiones, llevándole a diferentes spots para surfear, y apoyándole en todo lo que podía, pero ha sido a partir de este invierno cuando ha decidido patrocinarle con su tienda, para que pueda continuar su evolución y pueda presentarse a más competiciones. Octavio, te deseamos lo mejor en esta carrera prometedora que se te presenta. Esta isla tiene muchas esperanzas puestas en ti. UN PREFECTO ALIADO PARA LOS DEPORTISTAS PREFECT ALLY FOR ATHLETES El Rooibos, que muchos confunden con un té, a pesar de no proceder de la Camellia Sinensis, sino de un arbusto de origen sudafricano, es una infusión que se ha puesto muy de moda en la actualidad por sus buenas propiedades, entre ellas la de perder peso, mejorar problemas digestivos, fortalecer los huesos y dientes, retrasar el envejecimiento y mejorar problemas de la piel, equilibrar el sistema nervioso, ser un buen antioxidante y remineralizante, calmar alergias, reducir el estrés, favorecer el buen funcionamiento del corazón… Todo un grial para la salud que, a pesar de tener las mismas propiedades de algunos tés, presenta las ventajas de no tener cafeína ni teína, por lo que puede consumirlo toda la familia, incluso niños; y presenta bajas con-

El Rooibos es un isotónico natural, lo que quiere decir que tiene la misma concentración de sales que las células de la sangre y, por tanto, no produce la deformación de los glóbulos rojos, debido a la presión osmótica, y es ideal para la recuperación después del ejercicio físico. Es recomendable hacerse una infusión de Rooibos, poniendo en agua hirviendo una cucharada de hojas secas de este arbusto, y dejarlo reposar durante 5-10 minutos. Puede llevarse en un termo, para consumirse templado durante el entrenamiento, poco a poco, o puedo dejarse enfriar para tomarse en frío.

Es un escándalo la velocidad a la que pasan, por dentro de El Roque, los camiones que van a la depuradora, hasta en domingos y festivos, y a horas intempestivas. Tengo un niño pequeño que juega en la puerta de casa, por favor que moderen la velocidad o que les hagan un camino alternativo, por fuera del pueblo.
Ya sabemos que los caminos los riegan de vez en cuando, para que se asiente el terreno, con aguas fecales, para no gastar agua limpia en eso. Pero es que en agosto, además lo hicieron sin filtrar, dejando el camino de Piedra Playa lleno de toallitas húmedas y otros desechos, siendo zona protegida para aves (ZEPA).
No basta con hacer una limpieza puntual en El Cotillo. Durante las fiestas de agosto hacen botellones y tiran basura por todas partes, que el viento va moviendo y llevando de un lado a otro, y que suele acabar en el mar. Hagan limpiezas más profundas y con más frecuencia.

Christine es de esas mujeres que tienen su pasión muy clara en la vida y pelean por ella, aunque tengan que adentrarse en terreno complicado. Con 17 años se dio cuenta de que el mundo de los coches y los rallies le apasionaba y, aunque sabía que era un campo duro para mujeres, luchó duramente y, hoy en día, tiene un sueño en camino y pelea para conseguir sus objetivos en un mundo de hombres. Macaronesia: ¿Cuándo empieza tu pasión por los coches y la velocidad? Christine: A los 17 años me quedaba embobada al ver pasar el Toyota Corolla amarillo de mi vecino Dani por la calle. Cuando me saqué el carné de conducir, lo primero que hice fue volcar el coche que tenía y me di cuenta que tenía una pasión especial por la velocidad. Decidí ir a estudiar Economía a Inglaterra pero, a las dos semanas de empezar mis estudios, los dejé y empecé Ingeniería de Vehículos de Competición en Birmingham, carrera que me saqué en 3 años. M: ¿Cómo se tomó tu familia este cambio? Ch: Mi madre no lo encajó nada bien. Esto no es una profesión de señoritas, jajaja. Pero con el tiempo lo ha aceptado y ahora no se pierde ningún rally donde corro. M: ¿Cómo es este mundo para una mujer? Ch: Por un lado es ventajoso, porque el marketing es mucho más fácil para una chica, pero por otro lado es muy duro, porque es un mundo de hombres y a veces no te valoran como mereces, solo por ser una mujer. Sin embargo hay muchos chicos que me ayudan y que sí me valoran por lo que soy. M: ¿Vives profesionalmente de la competición? Ch: No. Tengo muy buenos patrocinadores que me pagan las carreras, y les estoy agradecidísima, .20

pero profesionalmente me gano la vida con un taller mecánico que he montado con Dani, que se llama Gazoline Motorsport, en Corralejo. M: Háblanos de la competición de rally… Ch: Al volver de Inglaterra empecé a correr en tierra. Había hecho algún curso básico y tenía muchas ganas. Pude comprarle a Dani el Corolla amarillo —Lolla—que me tenía enamorada y empecé a competir en 2014. Conseguí la victoria en el Campeonato Autonómico Canario de Tierra, en la categoría Tracción delantera y de agrupación B4, y también otro titulo del Campeonato Provincial de Las Palmas. M: ¿Cómo ves tu evolución? Ch: Creo que evoluciono en la medida de mis posibilidades, de forma autodidacta, recogiendo los consejos de los que me quieren y ayudan. Es difícil, porque hay sitios donde entrenar en tierra, pero no son del todo accesibles, y en asfalto no disponemos de un circuito en Fuerteventura; así que desde aquí hago un llamamiento a las instituciones, para que nos apoyen con esto. M: ¿Cuáles son tus objetivos esta temporada 2015? Ch: Estoy preparando un Subaru Impreza GC8 de calle, para seguir compitiendo en tierra y pasar el Toyota a asfalto. Estoy deseando evolucionar y sigo muy animada, ya que muchos pilotos me han dicho que si te haces las manos en tierra luego, pasar al asfalto, es más favorecido que al contrario. Y de ahí directa a la montura 4x4, que es mi gran reto. Muchas gracias Christine por servir de ejemplo a tantas mujeres. Macaronesia: When does your passion for cars and speed start? Christine: At 17 I was spellbound by watching the yellow Toyota Corolla of my neighbour, Dani, down the street. When I got the driving license, the first thing I did was to make the car I had overturn, and I realised I had a special passion for speed. I decided to go to England to study economics but, within two weeks of starting my studies, I left them and I started Engineering Competition vehicles in Birmingham, a degree that took me 3 years. M: How did your family take this change? Ch: My mother did not take it well at all. This is not a profession for ladies, lol. But over time she has accepted it and now she doesn’t miss a single rally where I drive. M: How is this world for a woman? Ch: On the one hand it is advantageous, because marketing is much easier for a girl, but on the other hand it’s very hard, because it’s a men’s world and sometimes they do not value you as you deserve, just for being a woman. Ch: On returning from England I began training for gravel rallies. I had taken a basic course and I was looking forward to it. I could buy Dani’s yellow Corolla – Lolla- with which I was in love- and I started competing in 2014. I got the victory in the Canary Regional Land Championship in the Front Wheel Drive category and group B4, and another award in the Provincial Championship in Las Palmas. M: How do you see your evolution? Ch: I think I am evolving into the best of my ability, self-taught, picking up tips from those who love and help me. It is difficult, because there are places where you can train for gravel rally, but they are not fully accessible and we don’t have a road course in Fuerteventura; So from here I appeal to the institutions to support us with this. M: What are your goals this 2015 season? Ch: I am preparing a Subaru Impreza GC8, to continue competing on gravel rallies and use the Toyota on roads. Asli, de Estambul, y Barbara, Tito y Alvise, de Milán, son cuatro amigos que llevan muchos años en la isla de Fuerteventura, a la que llegaron atraídos por la belleza y la gente de esta tierra. Los cuatro son artistas: dos fotógrafos, una documentarista y una violinista, y en su afán por afrontar nuevos retos, han puesto en marcha en Corralejo su proyecto «Pató, El Rey de las Papas», para desarrollar lo que, según ellos, es el arte más difícil de todos: el de dar de comer a los demás de una forma sana, económica y creativa. Macaronesia: ¿Qué es «Pató»? Pató Team: «Pató» es un concepto de gastronomía, nuevo y original, pero con orígenes antiguos anglosajones (jacket potato) y también de Estambul (kumpir). Además las patatas horneadas son muy populares y apreciadas en la Islas Canarias y en otras partes de España. Realizamos patatas rellenas, con una gran variedad de ingredientes que el propio cliente puede combinar a su gusto. La filosofía de «Pató» es hacer una comida sana —con patata al horno, como base de la carta, y rellena con ingredientes frescos, variados y elaborados de forma casera por nosotros mismos cada día—; es una comida creativa, económica y simple, pero realizada con mucho gusto. Es ideal para deportistas y para toda la familia, incluidos niños, y además es apta para celíacos. También es una comida dinámica, es decir, no tienes por qué comer sentado en nuestra terraza, puedes pedir tu papa rellena y comerla en la playa, en los bancos del parque o incluso caminando. M: ¿Cómo surge la idea? Pt: La idea original fue de Asli. Ella es de Estambul, y allí es muy habitual encontrar puestos con patatas rellenas por la calle. Hemos querido coger ese concepto y hacerlo a nuestra forma, original y mejorada. M: ¿Por qué este nombre? Pt: «Pató» es un nombre que hace alusión a la patata en varios idiomas: papas, patatas, potato… Y además es imaginativo y tiene chispa. M: ¿Qué podemos encontrar en «Pató»? Pt: Papas cocinadas al horno, partidas en dos y mezcladas con queso y mantequilla, o solo con aceite de oliva. El relleno lo puede elegir el propio cliente, de una gran variedad de productos que preparamos a diario, sin conservantes: pulpo, pollo al curri, albóndigas, verduras, queso de cabra endulzado en cebolla, y muchas cosas más. Cada día tenemos sugerencias diferentes. Además también hacemos papas fritas y una novedad que está teniendo mucho éxito: la piel de la papa frita. Esto viene de la cultura escocesa, ya que a ellos les gusta comer la piel por los nutrientes, y la verdad es que además tiene un sabor muy particular. M: Algo más que queráis decir… Pt: En un futuro no muy lejano tenemos prevista la inauguración de «Pató» en Milán y también en otras ciudades de Europa. .22

Con el comienzo del otoño, y habitualmente temperaturas muy agradables y casi sin viento, apetece salir al campo para observar el cielo nocturno, todavía dominado por la Vía Láctea, aunque cada día un poco más baja hacia el Sur. Desde el Este va surgiendo la figura más típica del cielo de la temporada, el Cuadrado de Pegaso, que incluye también una estrella de la cercana constelación de Andrómeda, la princesa protagonista de un mito que describe esta parte del cielo. Esta constelación esconde uno de los objetos más interesantes, la galaxia de Andrómeda (M31), que hasta hace un siglo se catalogaba como nebulosa, antes de medir su increíble distancia: ¡¡más de 2 millones de años-luz!! ¡No todo los días podemos presumir de ver un objeto tan lejano! En Octubre la Luna dominará el cielo en la segunda mitad del mes y será sin duda el objeto de mayor interés para nuestras observaciones de las últimas semanas.

One of the most interesting objects of this month is the Andromeda galaxy (M31) which appears through the telescope as a big but diffuse spot similar to a nebula, which by the way was its official designation until the astronomers were able to estimate its real distance, more that 2 million light-years!! Not everyday we can observe such a far object! This October the Moon will be dominating the sky in the second half of the month and will be a wonderful target for our observations in this period.
