Menú d-gustado: Aperitivo: famoso Spritz italiano (vino blanco, agua con gas y, en este caso, Aperol), acompañado de dos tipos de bruschetta: una de tomate, con vinagre balsámico, ajo y orégano, y otra de hummus de garbanzos, con gambitas.

Entrantes: 1. Ensalada Gourmande: lechuga, bacon, huevo, crostini, manzana, piñones, cebolla y una vinagreta de mayonesa, mostaza, miel, vinagre y limón.

2. Bresaola: carne curada de ternera, típica del norte de Italia, servida con parmesano, queso majorero curado de cabra y rucola.

Primeros: 3. Risotto a las dos salchichas y calabaza, típico del norte de Italia, con decoración de Amaretti (galletitas de pasta de almendras dulces y amargas).

4. Gnocchi de patata, con salsa boloñesa casera.

Segundo: 5. Estofado de ternera con champiñones, al vino tinto, con ensalada, nueces y tomate cherry.

Postre: 6. Tiramisú con cubierta de Amaretti.

La idea de crear este bistrot de cocina italo-francesa surge cuando Ivan Caserio (Torino) y Roberto Passera (Cremona), tras muchos años dedicados al mundo de la hostelería en Italia y en Francia, deciden montar su propio establecimiento, donde añadir, a sus platos, ese toque tan personal que llevan dentro.

La cocina de L’Oca Blanca puede definirse como una cocina italiana casera, es decir, lo que un italiano podría prepararte en su propia casa, pero mejorado con fantasía y pequeños detalles, que no solo saborearéis en la comida, sino que también sentiréis, gracias al exquisito gusto con que han decorado su local.

Las elaboraciones —con algunos ingredientes frescos de la isla, como las verduras y el magnífico queso majorero de cabra, y otros traídos directamente de Italia, como las pastas, algunos quesos y los embutidos—, son totalmente caseras, y el toque francés lo aportan en ensaladas, postres y algún que otro detalle, que deja huella de los 15 años que estuvieron viviendo en Francia, lo que confiere a su carta una diferenciación notable, y a su acento un delicado deje francés, al ser totalmente franco-parlantes.

A parte de estas delicias que hemos degustado, de la carta de L’Oca Blanca, también podréis encontrar un menú de día, con gran variedad de ensaladas, carnes, quesos, pastas, y bocadillos sabrosos e imaginativos, que podéis pedir, si queréis, para llevar a la playa, situada a tan solo 20 metros del bistrot.

The idea of creating this Italian-French bistro cuisine arises when Ivan Caserio (Torino) and Robert Passera (Cremona) l, after many years devoted to the hotel industry in Italy and France, decided to start their own business, adding to their dishes that personal touch they carry inside.

The cuisine of L’ Oca Blanca can be defined as a homemade Italian cuisine, that is, what an Italian could prepare at home, but enhanced with fantasy and small details that you won’t only notice in their delicious food, but also in the exquisite taste with which they have decorated their home.

The elaborations -with some fresh island ingredients such as vegetables and the magnificent Majorero goat cheese, and other products imported straight from Italy, like pasta, some cheeses and cold meet- are completely home-made, and the French touch is provided by salads, desserts and some other details, leaving a trace of the 15 years they were living in France, giving to his menu a remarkable differentiation, and they have a delicate French accent, as they have a total command of the French language.

Apart from these delicacies we tasted from L’ Oca Blanca menu, you can also find the menu of the day, with a variety of salads, meats, cheese, pastas, and tasty and imaginative sandwiches you can order, if you want, to take to the beach, located just 20 meters away from this bistro.

Edad: 32 años Procedencia: Nacido en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, criado en Fuerteventura.

De familia de pescadores, que han vivido siempre pegados al muelle de Corralejo, Aday creció pescando y pulpeando, tanto en las bajas de detrás del muelle como en la propia bahía que tenía a 10 metros de casa.

Su pasión por el océano no quedó ahí, y con 12 años empezó a frecuentar los picos de Corralejo con todos sus amigos: Salo, Ruymán «El panadero», Pablo, Dani «Ricitos», Iván, Adrián «El Pamela»... transformándose en un adicto al bodyboard (BB) que, tras algún que otro paréntesis, ha sido el deporte de su vida.

M: ¿Cómo se coló el BB en tu vida?

Aday: Fue gracias a la piña de amigos que teníamos en Corralejo, muchos de los cuales hoy son grandes «bugueros». Pasábamos el día en las olas del Muelle o de la Playa de los Hoteles, con nuestros corchitos de Kalise, todos doblados, que nos hacían unas rozaduras brutales. Con el tiempo, algunos chicos mayores, como Heraclio «El Kani» y Raúl «El panadero», empezaron a llevarnos con sus coches a picos de fuera de Corralejo —también íbamos en guagua o haciendo autostop— y poco a poco nos íbamos motivando, compitiendo siempre entre nosotros, con un pique sano que nos ha ayudado mucho a todos a evolucionar en este deporte y que mantenemos, a día de hoy.

M: ¿Qué otras aficiones te acompañaron en

la infancia?

A: Junto con mi pasión por el mar empecé a engancharme también muy fuerte al fútbol, llegando a jugar en el equipo de Corralejo, en división de honor en juveniles y en 3ª división, lo que me mantuvo durante algunos años alejado de las olas. Pero a los 19 años tuve una lesión de rodilla que me dejó apartado del equipo. Empecé entonces a trabajar en la cocina de un restaurante y volví a las andadas de niño con el BB, más motivado que nunca.

M: ¿Es entonces cuando decides competir?

A: Sí; en esta época empecé a interesarme por la competición, ya que podía patrocinarme a mí mismo con mis ahorrillos, y llegué a quedar 4º en un Campeonato de España, en Ferrol (2004). También hice el circuito Canario, alguna prueba del Mun-

dial, en Sintra (Portugal), y del Europeo, en Ferrol. Pero la competición es costosa y sin ayudas era imposible seguir ese rumbo.

M: ¿Y a qué te dedicaste entonces?

A: Me salió la oportunidad de ir a trabajar a Marbella, en el gimnasio de un buen amigo, donde me formé como entrenador personal y monitor deportivo de sala de musculación. En la actualidad, trabajo, desde hace dos años, en el Clinic Sport de Corralejo, aplicando todos mis conocimientos en entrenamientos específicos para diferentes deportes y aspiraciones.

M: ¿Prefieres la competición o los baños libres?

A: Sin duda los baños libres, porque vas más relajado, improvisas más y no tienes el miedo a arriesgar. De algunas sesiones con

amigos han surgido baños realmente épicos, difíciles de olvidar.

M: ¿Qué te queda por hacer en el BB? A: Por supuesto seguir aprendiendo, eso siempre, y también intentar viajar, ya que las circunstancias y la falta de apoyo no me han permitido descubrir muchas de las maravillosas olas que hay por el mundo.

M: ¿Qué opinas de la evolución de Fuerteventura respecto al surf?

A: Inevitablemente se están saturando los picos y esta isla no tiene nada que ver con lo que era hace 20 años. Lo que pedimos los locales es que haya respeto en el agua y que la isla no sea la alternativa de algunos equipos de BB o de surf, para grabar sus reportajes. No queremos que nuestros picos se masifiquen como ya lo

están los de otras islas.

M: Y dejando a un lado el mundo del surf, ¿cuál es tu postura frente al tema de las prospecciones?

A: Creo que, como la inmensa mayoría de la población majorera, mi postura es de un NO rotundo. Estuve en Galicia justo después de lo del Prestige y, nada más pensar en esas playas negras, se me eriza el pelo. No quiero ni imaginar el desastre ecológico que provocaría un vertido aquí, sin hablar del económico. Deberíamos poner las miras en una isla muy cercana, El Hierro, donde tienen un modelo de autoabastecimiento energético que deberíamos seguir el resto de islas.

M: Algo más...

A: Por un lado, pedir más implicación

con este deporte, para que se ayude a los chiquillos a evolucionar y salir fuera de nuestras costas a competir. Y por otro lado, quiero hacer una mención especial a Richard «El Americano» —que en paz descanse—, por cómo nos motivó a los chiquillos de aquella época para que lo diéramos todo por este deporte: nos cedió material, nos vistió con sus marcas (3RJ y Dharma Company), haciéndonos formar parte de un equipo, nos motivó a competir, nos ayudó con los viajes, las inscripciones... ¡Seguirás vivo mientras te recordemos!

From a family of fishermen, always living

by Corralejo’s dock, Aday grew up fishing and «octopusing», either in the rocky bottoms behind the dock or in the very bay which was 10m away from home. His passion for the ocean didn’t stop there and when he was 12 he started to visit the peaks in Corralejo with all his friends: Salo, Ruymán « el panadero», Pablo, Dani «ricitos», Iván, Adrián «El Pamela»... thus becoming an addict to bodyboard (BB) that, in spite of some breaks, has been the sport of his life.

M: How did BB come into your life?

Aday: It was all thanks to the group of friends we had in Corralejo, many of whom are great bodyboarders nowadays. we used to spend the day among the waves in the dock or the Hotels Beach, with our Kalise boogies, all bent, which caused us huge blisters. In time, some older boys, like Heraclio «El Kani» and Raúl «el panadero» started to take us in their cars to peaks away from Corralejo — sometimes we also went by bus or hitch hiking— and little by little we were motivating ourselves, always competing among us in healthy rivalry which has helped us a lot to improve in this sport and which we still keep nowadays.

M: Which other hobbies did you have during your childhood?

A: Together with my passion for the sea I also started to get hooked on football, and I managed to play in Corralejo’s team, in the junior first division and also in the third division, which kept me away from waves for some years. I then started to work in the kitchen of a restaurant, and then I returned to my childhood hobby, BB, more motivated than ever.

M: Was it then that you decided to compete?

A: Yes; at that time I started to be interested in competition, as I could sponsor myself with some savings, and I got the 4th position in the Spanish Championship in Ferrol (2004). I also took part in the Canary Islands circuit, some events in the World championship in Sintra

(Portugal) and the European one in Ferrol. But competing is expensive and without sponsors it was impossible to follow that path.

M: And what did you do then?

A: I had the chance to work in Marbella, at a good friend’s gym, where I fully trained as personal trainer and sport instructor in weight rooms, applying all my knowledge to specific trainings for different sports and aspirations.

M: Do you prefer competition or freelance training?

A: No doubt freelance training, it’s much more relaxed, you can improvise much more and you aren’t afraid of risking. Some sessions with friends have been really epic, difficult to forget.

M: What remains to be done in BB? A: Of course, to keep learning, and also trying

to travel, as circumstances and lack of financial aids haven’t allowed me to find out many wonderful waves that there are all over the world.

M: What do you think about the evolution of Fuerteventura as far as surfing is concerned?

A: Inevitably, peaks are becoming too crowded, and this island now has nothing to do with the one it was 20 years ago. What we are asking locals is for some respect in the water and we expect the island doesn’t become the alternative for BB and Surf teams to record their reports. We don’t want our peaks to be so crowded as they already are in other islands.

M: And leaving aside the world of surf, what is your stance regarding oil prospecting?

A: My stance is, as I suppose it is for the huge majority of the majorera population, a categoric NO. I was in Galicia just after the Prestige sank and when I think of those black beaches my hair stands on end. I don’t even want to imagine this ecological disaster here, let alone the financial one. We should set our sight on a very near island, El Hierro, where they have a self-sufficient energetic model which we should all follow in the rest of the islands.

M: Something else...

A: On the one hand, to ask for more

implication in this sport, so young people can be helped to evolve and compete away from our coasts. On the other hand, I want to pay special tribute to Richard «El Americano» —may God grant him eternal peace—, for motivating the children at those times to play hard: he gave us equipment, dressed us in his brands (3RJ and Dharma Company), making us take part in a team, motivated us to compete, helped us with trips, inscriptions... You’ll always be alive as long as we remember you!

A new way of working gets to Corralejo:

Por primera vez contamos en la isla de Fuerteventura con una Escuela de carrovelismo, deporte que consiste en desplazarse sobre tierra o hielo, en un vehículo de ruedas o patines, impulsado únicamente por la fuerza del viento.

Esta actividad no tiene límite de edad para su práctica, ni diferencia de sexo, y no presenta barreras para personas con discapacidad motriz, ni requiere de una preparación física determinada. Permite a sus practicantes tener una actividad dinámica de equipo, en un entorno natural, y a muchos de ellos volver al mundo de la competición, cuando por su condición física ya no son «viables» en sus respectivas disciplinas deportivas anteriores.

Los objetivos de esta escuela son: enseñar y promover la competición en este deporte, para niños, jóvenes y adultos; enseñar y ayudar a personas con discapacidades motrices y degenerativas; fomentar el deporte entre todas las edades bajo el lema «Todos iguales bajo el viento»; crear el Club Land Sailing Fuerteventura; crear la Asociación Canaria de Carrovelismo y crear la Asociación Canaria de Blokart.

For the first time in Fuerteventura we have a land sailing school, a sport consisting of sliding on land or ice in a wheeled vehicle or on skates just driven by the wind. This activity has no age limit to practise it, nor sex distinction, and it isn’t a handicap for people suffering from motor disabilities nor does it require a specific physical conditioning.

It allows its participants to have a dynamic team activity, in a natural surrounding and it also allows many of them to return to competition when their physical conditions aren’t «adequate» for their respective previous sports any longer.

Exposición en 722º de Lajares

La galería de arte del restaurante 722º acogerá, del 13 de diciembre al 13 de enero, una exposición de la artista Nuria del Pino donde nos presenta su obra más reciente, en dos líneas claramente diferenciadas: el estilo figurativo y el abstracto.

«Mi obra tiene que ver con el espacio y nuestra relación con él, con la ausencia de límites, tanto exteriores como interiores, con el vacío, y el silencio que rodea ese vacío que todo lo contiene. Para realizar la obra me sirvo de fondos limpios en los cuales compongo formas que crean, en su relación con el espacio, esa sensación de vacío, de quietud, de infinito... La técnica utilizada es óleo sobre tela».

«My work has to do with space and our relationship with it, with the absence of boundaries, indoor and outdoor spaces, with emptiness, the silence surrounding this emptiness which in turn contains everything. To make my work I use clean backgrounds where I make shapes which create, in their relationship with space, this feeling of emptiness, quietness, infinity...

The used technique is oil on panel».

The exhibition will remain open to the public from December 13th until January 13th . No doubt highly recommendable.

Nuevo yacimiento

con restos romanos en Lobos La tercera campaña arqueológica en el Islote de Lobos descubre un segundo yacimiento con restos romanos que confirma la presencia del Imperio Romano en las islas, con finalidades comerciales relacionadas con la obtención de púrpura. La campaña que comenzó el pasado 28 de octubre hasta el 19 de noviembre finaliza con el hallazgo de 3 nuevos recintos, uno a modo de fábrica y dos habitacionales, con los que van ya 5 recintos encontrados. Se han descubierto también 2 nuevos concheros de Stramonita haemastoma, 4 ya en total, conocida en Fuerteventura como «canailla» y en las otras islas como «encarnailla», molusco del que se sacaba el tinte púrpura, tan codiciado en aquellas épocas. Próximamente, el Cabildo preparará el yacimiento, para que sea visitable.

New site with

Roman remains in Lobos

The third archaeological campaign carried out in Lobos islet has revealed a second site with Roman remains, which confirms the presence of the Roman Empire in the island with business purposes related to the extraction of the Purple dye. The campaign, which started last October 28th and finished on November 19th ended up with the finding of new enclosures, one which seems to have been a factory, and two rooms, which makes a total of five enclosures that have already been found. Two new Stramonita haemastoma sites have also been discovered, making a total of 4, known as «canailla» in Fuerteventura, and as «encarnailla» in other islands. This was the mollusc from which the so coveted dye at those times was extracted.

In short, the Island council will make the site available to be visited.

Zumba solidario en Corralejo

El sábado 13 de diciembre, a las 16:30h., tendrá lugar, en la Plaza Patricio Calero, un evento de zumba solidario, organizado por la instructora de zumba Iris García y el Ayuntamiento de La Oliva. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de practicar zumba, bajo la supervisión de monitores de esta práctica deportiva, provenientes de diferentes puntos de la isla. Charity Zumba in Corralejo

On Saturday December 13th, from 16:30h onwards, a charity zumba event will take place at Plaza Patricio Calero, organized by the zumba instructor Iris García and La Oliva Town hall. The participants will have the chance to practise zumba under the supervision of other instructors of the same sport, coming from different spots in the island. To take part in it you must provide food, personal care or cleaning products that will be given to Cáritas’ food bank to be delivered among the poorest families.

Después de unas generaciones en las que la industria alimentaria ha impuesto su patrón insalubre y poco respetuoso con el medio ambiente, cada vez surgen más iniciativas que velan por el cuidado de la alimentación de las personas y por la conservación del entorno.

Obvio es una de ellas. Hablamos con su creador, Jason Pinder.

If you look closely around you, you’ll realize that more and more people are taking care of their nutrition. After many generations to whom the food industry has been imposing unhealthy diets, and being environmentally unfriendly, more and more initiatives are now taking care of our diet and the sustainability of the environment. Obvio is one of them. Here you are our interview with its creator, Jason Pinder.

Macaronesia: ¿Cuál es el concepto de Obvio?

Jason: Nos gusta la gente y la comida íntegra. Creemos firmemente en proporcionar comida auténtica y en proteger el medio ambiente. La verdad es que lo que consumimos debería ser natural e íntegro. Abogamos por productos auténticos y éticos. Obvio proporciona una variedad completa de productos, desde domésticos y cosméticos hasta una amplia gama de deliciosa comida, fruta, verdura y zumos de fruta natural, para promover la salud. Y también una gran selección de medicina alternativa, para sacar lo mejor de cada uno. Obvio siempre buscará nuevas alternativas para vivir saludablemente y protegiendo el medio ambiente.

M: ¿Qué novedades hay en Obvio?

J: Estamos muy emocionados con nuestro nuevo espacio, dedicado al arte, donde podrás adquirir obras de la artista local Lina Velázquez. También tenemos nuevos productos artesanales de todo el mundo, gran variedad de especias exóticas, hierbas e infusiones de té. Como novedad en nuestro centro curativo tenemos un tratamiento de aromaterapia para mujeres embarazadas, preparado por una comadrona altamente cualificada.

M: ¿Cuáles son vuestros mejores productos?

M: ¿Qué productos de la isla ofrecéis?

M: Alguna recomendación para las fiestas...

J: ¡Por qué no disfrutar de un masaje! Para uno mismo o para regalar. Ofrecemos reiki, craneal, Thai, Ayurveda, aromaterapia y shiatsu. También tenemos fabulosos desintoxicantes, para sentirse revitalizado en el año nuevo.

M: ¿Qué más podemos encontrar en Obvio?

J: En la trastienda, tenemos un gran espacio para toda clase de actividades, actualmente un taller de yoga, meditación y clases de teatro para niños. También realizamos actividades como veladas de poesía y música jazz. Cualquiera que desee usar este espacio o que tenga alguna idea, será bienvenido.

M: Anything you recommend over the festive season: J: Why not treat yourself or a partner to a massage, we offer reiki, cranial, Thai, Ayurvedic, aromatherapy & shiatsu. We also have some fabulous detoxs to feel revitalized in the new year.

M: What goes on in the back room?

J: We have a great space for all sorts of activities, currently workshops of yoga, meditation and theater lessons for kids. We also run extra activities such as poetry and music/ jazz evenings. Anyone wishing to use the space or having any ideas is welcome to join us.

DIETA ALCALINA BENEFITS OF THE ALKALINE DIET Últimamente se habla mucho de la dieta alcalina. El principio básico de esta dieta es un consumo de verduras frescas, frutas, granos enteros y legumbres, frente a los alimentos procesados, carnes, azúcares…

They speak a lot about the alkaline diet lately. The foundation of this diet is the consumption of fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grain and legumes, against processed food, meat, sugars...

Diversos estudios científicos han demostrado que el proceso de los alimentos que ingerimos en nuestra dieta, dan lugar a subproductos que pueden ser ácidos o alcalinos para nuestro organismo.

También se sabe que el pH ideal para que el organismo sea saludable tiene que ser ligeramente alcalino (entre 7,35 y 7,45); sin embar embargo, la mayoría de los alimentos que una persona media ingiere al día son alimentos procesados, se consumen altos niveles de hidratos de carbono, grasas saturadas, mucha sal, incluso aditivos químicos.

Todos estos alimentos son altamente acidificantes y se sabe que estos ácidos son liberados rápidamente en el torrente sanguíneo del cuerpo, lo que hace que el organismo se esfuerce por mantener el equilibrio de pH, a expensas de que se descompense ese equilibrio ácido-alcalino en otros sistemas de nuestro organismo.

Con la dieta alcalina se aumenta el consumo de alimentos que te ayudan a perder los kilos que te sobran y a prevenir los problemas asociados al envejecimiento prematuro y a ciertas enfermedades crónicas (por ejemplo, la artritis y las piedras de riñón están asociadas a dietas ácidas). La dieta alcalina aumenta la energía, alivia la ansiedad, irritabilidad e incluso ayuda a disminuir los dolores de cabeza e infecciones.

Several scientific studies have shown that the process of the food we include in our diet generate sub-products that can be either acid or alkaline for our organism.

It’s also known that the ideal PH to have a healthy organism must be slightly alkaline (between 7,35 and 7,45); however, most of the food we eat every day is processed food; we consume high levels of carbohydrates, saturated fats, salts and even chemical additives. All of this food is highly acidifying and it’s also known that these acids are quickly released in our bloodstream, which compels our organism to make efforts to keep the PH balance, causing an acidalkaline unbalance in other systems of our organism.

With an alkaline diet we increase the consumption of food that helps lose unnecessary weight and prevent issues associated to premature ageing and other chronic diseases (for example, arthritis and kidney stones are linked to acid diets). The alkaline diet increases energy, relieves anxiety, irritability and even helps decreasing headaches and infections.

—Avoid junk food.

—The less you cook vegetables the better, in this order: fresh, steamed, roasted, boiled, grilled, fried. As human beings we are genetically prepared for the consumption of fresh or minimally processed food.

Hace un tiempo compré dos periquitos en un establecimiento de Corralejo donde creo que no hacen venta de forma legal. Uno de los periquitos tenía el pico deformado y no podía comer bien. Al llevar a los dos pájaros al veterinario resulta que también tenían sarna, y parece que no son el único caso, ya que la veterinaria ha atendido a más pájaros provenientes del mismo establecimiento. Me gustaría saber si hay alguna manera de evitar que se hagan prácticas de este tipo, porque estamos hablando de animales y los pobres pájaros están allí, contagiándose unos a otros. Y llamo a la ética de las personas que hacen este tipo de actividad, para que recapaciten y se den cuenta de que, más allá del dinero, están jugando con seres vivo que sufren y se merecen algo mejor en la vida.

Some time ago I bought two parakeets in a store in Corralejo where I think they carry out an illegal business.

One of the parakeets had a twisted beak and couldn’t eat properly. When I took the birds to the vet´s, it turned out that they were also suffering from scabies, and it seemed they had not been the only case this vet had received, as she had had more birds coming from the same store. I’d like to know if there’s a way to avoid such practise, as we are talking about animals and the poor birds are there, infecting one another. And I make a call on the ethics of the people who carry out this kind of activity so they think it over and realise that beyond money they’re playing with beings that are suffering and deserve something better in their lives.

Macaronesia: ¿Qué es Km 23?

Giuseppe: Km 23 es una empresa de senderismo que le da, a los visitantes de Fuerteventura, la opción de conocer los lugares más impresionantes de esta isla.

M: ¿Por qué el nombre de un kilómetro?

G: El Km 23, de la carretera FV-1, es el lugar donde se encuentra la duna más grande del Parque Natural de la Dunas de Corralejo. Para mí, esa duna es un sitio impresionante y creo que todo el que visite Fuerteventura debe conocerla. El slogan «regalando emociones», se refiere a .26

que al llevar a los clientes al Km 23, les hago rodar duna abajo, y todos ellos quedan encantados y realmente emocionados.

M: ¿Qué lugares vistáis en vuestras excursiones?

G: Cubrimos toda la isla de norte a sur, con 3 tipos de recorrido diferente. Uno que parte de Caleta de Fuste, visitando el campo de Aloe —muy significativo de Fuerteventura—, pasando después por Antigua, Tetir, Los Molinos, y desde allí hacia el norte, El Cotillo y Majanicho, con parada para comer en el restaurante Azzurro. En la opción del sur vamos a Costa Calma, Morro Jable y llegamos hasta Cofete, pasando por playas realmente bellas a las que no se puede acceder con trasporte público. En este caso la parada para comer la realizamos en el restaurante El Caletón, del Puertito de La Cruz, en la Punta de Jandía. Cuando el tiempo no está bueno como para playa, tenemos la opción de ruta de interior, y entonces vamos a descubrir

Betancuria, Pájara, La Pared... siempre acoplándonos a las necesidades del grupo de clientes, con guías en diferentes idiomas (español, italiano, inglés, alemán, francés...), para explicarles la historia majorera y los secretos del paisaje.

Ten years ago, Giuseppe —known by everybody as «Il-Jeepino»— arrived in Fuerteventura to settle in this island, which with he had been in love for some years. Its desserts, its heavenly beaches and its secret nooks gave him the key to set up, seven years ago, his company, which he called km23.

Macaronesia: What is km23?

Giuseppe: Km 23 is a trekking company which gives Fuerteventura’s visitors the option to find out the most impressive spots in this island.

M: Why calling it after a km?

G: The 23rd km, in the road FV-1, is the place where we find the biggest dune in «Parque Natural de Dunas de Corralejo». This dune is for me an impressive spot and I think that everybody visiting Fuerteventura must know it.

The slogan «giving emotions» sprang up because when we take our customers to km23 I make them roll down the dune and all of them are delighted and really excited.

M: Which spots do you visit in your trips?

G: We go over the whole island from North to South and we have three different tracks.

One departs from Caleta de Fuste and includes a visit to the Aloe fields — very typical in Fuerteventura—, and then Antigua, Tetir, Los Molinos and from there to the North, El Cotillo and Majanicho, stopping for lunch in Azzurro restaurant.

The southern route includes Costa Calma, Morro Jable and we get to Cofete, visiting really beautiful beaches where one cannot access by public transport. In this case, the lunch stop takes place in El Caletón restaurant at Puertito de la Cruz, in Punta de Jandia.

When the weather is not good enough to be on the beach we also have an inland track and then we visit Betancuria, Pájara, La Pared...always meeting our customers’ needs, and we have tour guides in different languages (Spanish, Italian, English, German, French...), who tell them about Majorera history and the secrets of its landscape.

To sum up, Km 23 is the best option for those who want to find out the island guided by experts who pick them up and take them back to their hotel or apartment and teach them the charms of the most hidden nooks that they might have never found out on their own.

En los bajos del Edificio Marfolin, en la localidad de El Cotillo, podéis encontrar una nueva tienda de moda con un toque muy especial: Chill 55. Su propietaria, Annette Collingnon, lleva dedicada al mundo de la moda alrededor de 35 años, en los que ha dirigido una tienda de ropa en la ciudad de Knokke (el Saint-Tropez de Bélgica).

Annette pisó por primera vez Fuerteventura en el año 76, para acompañar a su marido que se presentaba a las pruebas del Campeonato del Mundo de Windsurf y, desde aquel momento, su sueño fue la isla majorera, que visitaba por vacaciones dos o tres veces al año.

Finalmente, en 2011, decidió instalarse en el pueblecito de El Cotillo, realizando así su sueño de vivir en el paraíso, al sol, en contacto con el mar y los deportes acuáticos, que tanto ella como su familia adoran. Y para compaginar su sueño paradisiaco con su profesión, hace unos meses decidió montar una tienda de ropa a la que llamó Chill 55, aprovechando así los contactos de proveedores que acumuló durante tantos años dedicada profesionalmente al mundo de la moda, obteniendo siempre prendas de calidad a muy buenos precios.

En Chill 55 podéis encontrar moda, calzado, bolsos y complementos, mezcla de diferentes estilos que, según ella, «definen a la mujer moderna, independiente y con clase».

Its owner, Annette Collingon, has been devoted to the world of fashion for about 35 years, during which she has been running a fashion store in the city of Knokke (The Belgian Saint-Tropez).
