Heraclio Nació en Las Palmas, en agosto de 1970, y con 7 años se fue a vivir a Las Remudas, un barrio muy conflictivo de Telde, donde tuvo que acostumbrase a convivir con las drogas y el vandalismo que tenía a su alrededor. El barrio consistía en dos hileras de edificios y un gran parque en el medio, donde se mezclaban los juegos de los niños con los trapicheos y los delirios de los drogadictos. Había que buscar una válvula de escape a la situación y, gracias a que en clase coincidió con Popeye, un surfista de Playa del Hombre, empezó a interesarse por el surf, hasta que un tiempo después, con 13 años, animado por Samuel «El Bocas», empezó a coger olas.

Por: Santiago Blanco Bao Era el boom del bodyboard en Las Palmas y, de repente, otros amiguetes del barrio se animaron; 15 chiquillajes que se movían en manada por los picos de La Garita y Los Palos, por lo que les llamaban «Los Lebranchos»: ¡qué alegría se llevaban los pobres surfistas que estaban en el agua, cuando veían aparecer a tan unido grupo! Había conseguido aquella salida que buscaba, y las dosis de adrenalina que conseguía con las olas le hacían más fácil lidiar con el día a día de aquellas calles que lo ahogaban. El bb le llevó a conocer otros deportes extremos, primero el skate y después el descenso con mountain bike, que estuvo practicando intensamente durante una larga temporada. Pero con 20 años, ni el descenso en MTB era suficiente para quitar aquella sensación de estar en el lugar equivocado, así que hizo las maletas y se vino para Fuerteventura, a buscar trabajo, y encontró un nuevo hogar. Al principio vivía en Puerto y empezó a surfear por Secilios y El Pico de la Moto, para volver a coger el gusanillo. Poco a poco empezó a moverse con los locales de Puerto: Octavio, Yeray, David Pérez… y descubrió el paraíso que es el Norte. Aún se acuerda de la primera vez que vio el Hierro; había ido con Héctor «El Bardino» y Pepé, caían unos tubos enormes y no se atrevió a meterse, así que entró en La Derecha de los Alemanes. Aquellas primeras escapadas al Norte sirvieron para desatar de nuevo su pasión por el bb, y terminó de engancharse. Cada vez subía más a menudo, siempre dejando sitio en su coche para los chiquillos que comienzan. Se puede decir que ha transportando a casi todas las generaciones de la cantera de bugueros de Puerto hasta Cotillo y es, en parte, responsable del gran nivel de bb que hay en la Isla, ya que en su coche se fraguaban los piques entre los chavales que hoy en día son respetados como riders a nivel mundial: no era raro ver a Iván «El Banana» y a Ruyman Rey, cuando eran unos enanos, peleando por ver quién subía en el sitio del copiloto. El estar rodeado en el agua de gente más joven le ha servido para mantener la motivación todos estos años y espera que siga así por mucho tiempo. Le gustan las olas huecas y potentes pero también se tira cuando las olas son un poco más flojas y las destroza con rápidos giros en drop-knee, disciplina de la que es un gran amante. En cuanto al localismo tiene las ideas claras y piensa que en el agua la jerarquía es piramidal: por encima de todos

están los locales, luego la gente de fuera que vive a vivir aquí y después la gente que viene de vacaciones. «Esto forma parte del orden natural de las cosas y el que no quiera entenderlo que se vaya a otro lugar, pero el que sabe respetar puede surfear en cualquier sitio». Además de practicar todo tipo deportes es un gran aficionado al karate, que le ha ayudado a templar el carácter y a conseguir una buena condición física. Heraclio quiere agradecer a: Roberto de Inercia por todo lo que hizo, desinteresadamente, por la gente de Puerto. Ruyman, Aitor, Octavio del Cotillo, Pablo, Cesar, Salo, Aday, Pamela, Ivan «Malacuca», El Banana, Chencho, Aryún, Mijali, «El Pizzero», Héctor «El Bardino», Suso Zeloy, David Pérez, Juanjo Marichar, a toda la gente de Corralejo y Puerto, en especial a su familia y, como no, a su pareja. Y, en definitiva, a todos aquellos que le acompañan en el día a día. Creo que la mayoría de los que has nombrado, y alguno más que se habrá quedado en el tintero, se unirían a mí para agradecerte todo lo que has hecho por el bodyboard en la Isla y que sigas transmitiéndole este virus a un motón de chiquillos. Born in Las Palmas, in August, 1970, when he was 7 he went to live to Las Remudas, a trouble neighbourhood in Telde, where he had to get used to coexisting with the surrounding drugs and vandalism. The neighbourhood consisted of two rows of buildings and a big park in between, where children games were mixed up with the shady deals and the drug addict deliriums. It was necessary to find a way out of that situation, and thanks to Popeye, a surfer from Playa del Hombre he met in his classroom, he started to be interested in surf, until some years later, when he was 13, encouraged by Samuel «El Bocas», he started to catch waves. He was the bodyboard boom in Las Palmas, and suddenly some friends from his neighbourhood joined him; a team of 15 youngsters were surfing in La Garita and Los Palos, and this is why they were called «Los Lebranchos» (the hares): How happy the poor surfers in the water became when they saw such a united team appear in the distance! He had found this way out he was looking for, and the adrenaline dose he got in the waves made it easier for him to deal with the day to day life in those streets that oppressed him. BB let him know other risk sports: first, skate, and then mountain biking drops, which he was tirelessly practising for a long time. But when he became 20, not even MTB drops were enough to erase that feeling of being in the wrong place, so he packed and came to Fuerteventura, looking for a job, and he found a new home. In the beginning he lived in Puerto, and he started to surf in Secilios and El Pico de la Moto, to warm up again. Little by little he started to surf with the local people in

Puerto: Octavio, Yeray, David Pérez... and he found out the paradise in the North. He still remembers the first time he saw El Hierro: he went with Héctor «El Bardino» and Pepé. There were huge tubes and he didn’t dare to surf there, so he went to surf La Derecha de los Alemanes. Those first short trips to the North were decisive to awake again his passion for bb, and he finally got hooked on it. He began to go to the North more and more often, always leaving free seats for the beginner young surfers. We can say he has brought here almost every generation in the bb team from Puerto to Cotillo and he is partly responsible for the high bb level in the Island, as the rivalries among the youngsters (who nowadays are respected as worldwide known riders) arose in his car: it wasn’t strange to hear Iván «El Banana» and Ruyman Rey, when they were just children, fighting for the co-driver seat. Being surrounded in the water by younger people has been useful for him to keep motivation all these years, and he hopes it’ll remain like this for a long time.

He likes powerful hollow waves, but he also likes weaker waves he can destroy with quick drop-knee turns, a discipline he loves. As far as locals is concerned, he has a clear point of view: he thinks there is a pyramid hierarchy in the water; the locals are on top of it, then the people coming from outside the island to live here, and then the people coming on holidays. «This takes part of the natural order of things, and he who doesn’t want to understand it should go somewhere else, but he who knows how to respect this can surf everywhere». Apart from practising all kind of sports he’s a great Karate lover, which has helped him to shape his character and achieve a good physical condition. Heraclio wants to thank: Roberto de Inercia, for what he unselfishly did for the people from Puerto. Ruyman, Aitor, Octavio del Cotillo, Pablo, Cesar, Salo, Aday, Pamela, Ivan «Malacuca», El Banana, Chencho, Aryún, Mijali, «El Pizzero», Héctor «El Bardino», Suso Zeloy, David Pérez, Juanjo Marichar, all the people from Corralejo and Puerto, specially his family, and, of course, his partner. And, in short, all those who accompany him in his day to day life.

Ya está todo preparado para Fuertebloque 2012, la VIII concentración de escalada que se celebrará del 6 al 9 de diciembre en el barranco de Las Peñitas, municipio de Pájara. Esperamos a más de un centenar de escaladores de todas las islas para disfrutar de unos días de deporte y diversión, donde se practicará escalada deportiva, clásica y búlder. El Club Fuertealtura organiza este evento, con la ayuda de las instituciones y algunas empresas privadas, para poder ofrecer a todos los servicios básicos: agua, baños químicos, etc., además de las comidas que el club prepara después de escalar. Invitamos a todos los escaladores de las islas, y a todas las personas que quieran conocer un poco más sobre este deporte, a pasar unos días disfrutando de este maravilloso entorno y de su particular roca, la sienita, de gran adherencia y preciosos colores. Everything is ready for Fuertebloque 2012, the VIII climbing event will take place from the 6th to the 9th December, in «Barranco de las Peñitas», municipality of Pájara. As every year, we expect more than one hundred climbers from all over the islands to enjoy some fun climbing days where classical, sport climbing and bouldering will be practised. Fuertealtura Club will host the event, with the help of institutions and some private companies, to provide basic services: water, chemical baths etc. apart from the meals that the club provides after climbing. We invite all the climbers in the island and everyone who wants to know something else about this sport and spend some days enjoying this wonderful setting and its particular stone, the syenite, really adherent and wonderfully colourful. Opening in November Chasing Mavericks «Chasing Mavericks» is the story of the surf genius Jay Moriarty. At the age of 15 Jay finds his dream: surfing Mavericks, one of the hugest waves in the planet. He looks for the help from the legendary Frosty Hesson (Gerard Butler), so that he trains him to outlive such an event. It was made with the help of some of the most renowned figures in the world of surf, and with pictures of some of the most amazing waves ever shot by cinematography.

The Columbus Triathlon team succeeds in Lanzarote

Los integrantes del equipo de Triatlón Colombus han conseguido una brillante actuación en el 1er Half-Ironman Lanzarote, disputado el pasado 10 de Noviembre. En categoría femenina, Lucy Blight realizó una brillante carrera, finalizando 3ª en su grupo de edad. Inmaculada Chacón logró una meritoria 8ª posición, en su grupo de edad, dado el alto nivel de los participantes. En cuanto a los chicos, Daniel Del Toro y Juan Vila debutaron con éxito en la larga distancia. También cabe destacar la actuación de Roberto Núñez que, tras sufrir una hipoglucemia en el segmento ciclista, decidió no abandonar y cruzar la línea de meta,w logrando así su 6ª prueba Ironman.

The members of Columbus Triathlon team have achieved a brilliant performance in the 1st Lanzarote Half-Ironman, which took place the last November 10th. In the female category, Lucy Blight made a brilliant race, getting the third position in her age group . Inmaculada Chacón got a chrono of 6h31’38’’, a deserved eighth position bearing in mind the participants’ high level. As for the boys, Daniel del Toro and Juan Vila made a successful debut in long distance. We must also highlight Roberto Núñez’s performance, who after suffering a hypoglycemia on the clycling stage decided not to abandon and cross the finishing line thus getting his 6th Ironman.

TRATAR A UN PERRO COMO SI FUERA UNA PERSONA ES HUMANIZARLO. LOS HUMANOS Y LOS PERROS SOMOS ESPECIES TOTALMENTE DISTINTAS, ASÍ PUES LA PSICOLOGÍA ENTRE AMBOS ES DIFERENTE. Un perro es un perro, esa frase puede conllevar a pensar que hay que tratarlo con violencia, pero significa todo lo contrario. Debemos utilizar nuestra inteligencia humana para poder darle una educación lógica basada en la psicología canina, sin ningún tipo de maltrato. Un 90% de los problemas de comportamiento en los perros vienen derivados de la humanización. Hemos atribuido conceptos en los perros que no tienen nada que ver con su naturaleza. El mejor ejemplo es el «amor» hacia ellos. Los perros no sienten de la misma manera el «amor», más bien crean un vínculo afectivo basado en la atención, recursos para la supervivencia y refugio que nosotros les proporcionamos. Creemos que humanizando al perro estamos tratándolo del mejor modo posible y, en realidad, le estamos enviando continuas señales erróneas que lo confunden, le crean ansiedad y ocasionan problemas de comportamiento. El perro no habla, no te explica lo que hizo hoy, no siente rencor ni venganza hacia nosotros, no se enfada un día entero, etc. .14

por lo tanto, no entiende esa conducta en sus propietarios. Si queremos tener un perro feliz, cubriremos todas sus necesidades básicas y lo educaremos basándonos en su forma de aprendizaje, no en la nuestra. Para finalizar y cambiando de tema, me gustaría recordar que regalar mascotas por Navidad no es una buena opción, ya que la gran mayoría acaban siendo rechazadas o abandonadas pasados unos meses.

TREATING A DOG AS IF IT WERE A PERSON IS TO HUMANIZE IT. HUMANS AND DOGS ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT SPECIES, AND SO IT IS THEIR PSYCHOLOGY.

A dog is a dog; this sentence may lead us to think that we must treat them with violence, but it means just the opposite. We must use our human intelligence to educate them on basis of canine psychology, not mistreating them. The 90% of behavioural disorders in dogs are caused by humanization. We have attributed concepts to dogs which have nothing to do with their nature. The best example is the «love» towards them. Dogs can’t understand love in the same way; they rather create an affective bond based on the attention, survival resources and shelter we provide them with. We believe that by humanizing our dogs we are treating them in the best possible way, and actually we are sending them continuous signals that confuse them, cause them anxiety and behavioural disorders. Dogs can’t speak, can’t tell you what they did today, can’t bear a grudge against us nor feel a desire for revenge; they don’t feel upset for a whole day etc. so, they

cannot understand these behavioural traits in their masters. If we want to have a happy dog, we’ll meet all their basic needs and we’ll educate them bearing in mind their way of learning, not ours.

To finish and change subject, I’d like to remind you that GIVING AWAY PETS AS CHRISTMAS PRESENTS ISN’T A GOOD OPTION, as most of them end up being rejected or abandoned after some months.

Las lluvias del pasado mes de noviembre fueron desastrosas para muchos negocios de Corralejo (supongo que para algunos particulares también). Se ve que el sistema de evacuación de agua del pueblo está estropeado (bombas tupidas por desuso). Es cierto que vivimos en un lugar donde no llueve muy a menudo, pero el ayuntamiento no debería descuidar el mantenimiento de esas bombas de evacuación, porque así pasa lo que pasa y somos los ciudadanos los que al final pagamos el pato. En nuestros impuestos tenemos una tasa específica de alcantarillado, y éste ni siquiera existe, siendo

el motivo de los continuos problemas de evacuación de aguas pluviales y, en consecuencia, de inundaciones. Pedimos responsabilidades al ayuntamiento y, sobre todo, que pongan los medios para que algo así no vuelva a suceder.

.floods Last November rains were disastrous for lots of business premises in Corralejo (so it must have been for some houses). It seems that the sewer system in this village is not working (blocked pipes because of disuse). It’s true that we live in a place where it doesn’t rain very often, but the town hall shouldn’t neglect the maintenance of the sewer system, as then things like this happen and at the end of the day it’s the citizen that carries the can. We pay a specific tax for the sewer system, and it doesn’t even exist, which continuously causes problems of rainwater drainage, and floods as a result. We demand responsibility from the town hall, so they spare no effort to ensure that this kind of incidences never happen again. Indignant businessmen from Corralejo.

Mareas blancas en contra de las prospecciones en Canarias

White Tides against oil prospecting in the Canary Islands

El colectivo Ben Magec-Ecologistas en Acción convocó, el pasado 18 de noviembre, en las Islas de Fuerteventura, Tenerife y Gran Canaria, un acto de protesta para mostrar su rechazo a las prospecciones petrolíferas autorizadas en aguas cercanas a las islas, coincidiendo también con el décimo aniversario del hundimiento del Prestige. Los asistentes, vestidos de blanco, simularon una marea blanca. Los ecologistas insisten en la necesidad urgente de un cambio de modelo energético y del abandono definitivo del petróleo y de todas las energías contaminantes. Desde Macaronesia recomendamos el doble documental «Un Crudo Dilema», del programa El Escarabajo Verde, de RTVE, a cerca de estas prospecciones.

The group Ben Magec-Ecologistas en Acción organized, the last 18th November, in the islands of Fuerteventura, Tenerife and Gran Canaria, an act of protest, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the Prestige sinking, to show their rejection of oil prospecting, already licensed very near the Islands. The demostrators, dressed in white, simulated a white tide as a contrast to the black tides caused by the oil spill. Ecologists insist on the urgent need to change the energetic model, on the definite abandonment of petroleum and polluting energy sources. From Macaronesia we recommend the double documentary «Un Crudo Dilema» in the programme «El Escarabajo Verde», on RTVE, about this prospecting.

Parece que Fuerteventura y Marruecos vuelven a coordinarse para recuperar la línea comercial entre la Isla y Tarfaya. De momento los esfuerzos están destinados únicamente al tema comercial, aunque se sabe que hay empresas del sector turístico que desean se llegue a acuerdos. El muelle de Fuerteventura ya tiene la acreditación internacional, por lo que sólo faltaría que avance la obra en Tarfaya y que para entonces estén resueltas las cuestiones administrativas entre ambas partes.

It seems that Fuerteventura and Marruecos are working together again to recover the commercial line with Tarfaya. At the moment, the efforts are just focused on commercial matters, though some companies in the tourism industry are also known to be interested in reaching agreements. Fuerteventura wharf already enjoys international recognition, so we only need the works in Tarfaya to be developed, and hopefully the administrative issues will be solved.

The lady: a woman in the conquest of the Canary Islands

A finales del mes pasado se presentó en el Centro Bibliotecario Insular el libro de Carlos Álvarez «La Señora: Beatriz de Bobadilla Señora de Gomera y Fierro», de la editorial Hora antes. Esta novela narra una etapa de la historia de Canarias muy poco conocida en España: su conquista, iniciada en 1402 por Jean de Béthencourt y finalizada en 1496 por la Corona de Castilla, y su consiguiente colonización. Beatriz de Bobadilla (1462–1501), una mujer educada para la vida fácil de la corte, se transformó en una fuerte gobernadora de su mundo, de sus sentimientos y de su vida, y marcó la historia de Canarias. Allí fue testigo de la rebelión de los gomeros, del asesinato de su marido a manos de los rebeldes y la posterior represión a sangre, fuego y esclavitud. También fue presa de los celos, testigo de conjuras, cómplice y ejecutora de crueles asesinatos. Y cómplice también del enigmático aventurero que abrió una nueva ruta a oriente navegando, desde su isla de La Gomera, hacia poniente.

At the end of last month, the book «La Señora: Beatriz de Bobadilla Señora de Gomera y Fierro», by Carlos Álvarez, was presented at «El Centro Bibliotecario Insular». This novel narrates a little-known stage in the history of the Canary islands: Its conquest, which started in 1402 by Jean de Béthencourt and finished in 1496, by the Castilian Crown and its subsequent colonization. Beatriz de Bobadilla (1462-1501), who was a woman educated for the easy aristocratic life, became a strong governor of her world, feelings and life, and she was a milestone in the history of the Canary Islands. She witnessed, in the «gomeros» uprising, the murder of her own husband, killed by the rebels, and the subsequent repression (blood, fire and slavery). She was also blinded by jealousy, a witness in conspiracies, and an accomplice and executor of cruel murders. She was also an accomplice of the mysterious adventurer who opened a new route towards the East, sailing from her Island, La Gomera, towards the West.

La peligrosidad de las playas: una mala imagen para Fuerteventura El número de turistas que pierden la vida en las playas de Fuerteventura podría verse disminuido si, como opinan los empresarios turísticos de la Isla, se señalizaran las playas más peligrosas, especialmente en la costa de Barlovento. La correcta señalización podrá informar a los turistas de las fuertes corrientes que afectan a algunas playas de nuestra Isla. También deberían señalizarse los miradores como zonas de robo, para que los visitantes tengan cuidado de sus pertenencias; son algunas de las indicaciones que propone la patronal para cuidar de nuestro turismo.

Danger on the beach: a poor image of Fuerteventura The number of tourists who are losing their lives on Fuerteventura beaches could be reduced if, as the businessmen in the island think, the most dangerous beaches were signposted, especially in Barlovento coast. Proper signposting could warn the tourist about strong streams in some of our island beaches. There should also be theft warnings at the viewpoints, so that tourists take care of their personal belongings: these are some of the measures that the tourism management suggests in order to look after our tourism.

¿Miedo a qué? ¿Miedo de quien? ¿Cuáles son las desgracias, qué catástrofes, qué pérdidas o abandonos? ¿Cuál es la amenaza que a menudo nos detiene? ¿Y qué si tenemos que enfrentar al enemigo? ¿Y qué si probamos el amargo sabor de la derrota? ¿Y qué si perdemos, otra vez, algún amor? ¿Y qué si la nave que hayamos construido se ve en medio de una feroz tormenta, otra vez, hasta hoy desconocida? ¿Acaso no es peor vivir con el temor que luchar, valiente, contra lo temido? (Dicen los sabios que quién teme padecer, ya padece que teme) ¿Acaso alguien cree que duraría para siempre la caída? ¿Acaso alguien cree que perdido, no podría reencontrarse tan sólo al cerrar los ojos? ¿Acaso alguno de vosotros no encontró ya en medio de un naufragio un tablón al que agarrarse?

¿Acaso alguno de vosotros no llegó ya a una isla cuyas playas le salvaran? Quizás no haya enemigo tan grande, ni desgracia, ni catástrofe, ni amor perdido, ni tormenta que pueda con nuestra nave. Sólo habría pues que preocuparse por el peso que nuestra nave encierra, de no llenarla de todo aquello que pudiéramos necesitar pues quizás necesitemos demasiado. Que no encalle, que no acabe inmóvil, varada en tierra. Mucho tiempo atrás y mucho más abajo nosotros, una y otra vez, ya naufragamos. La marea nos trajo a estas playas y la calma curó las heridas. Subimos a esta montaña que no es la más alta del mundo, pero desde ella se divisa todo cuanto se puede divisar. Las nubes vuelan sobre nuestras cabezas. El vértigo y la belleza nos paralizan. Pero ya no hay duda. El error consiste en pararse, en rendirse, en detenerse, porque después de todo, la nave va. Marco Guerrero Navarro

con vasos de plástico Necesitas unos 250 vasos de plástico (no hace falta que los compres, recíclalos de tus fiestas), grapas o clips, un portalámparas, cable con enchufe, una bombilla y listo. Dependiendo del tamaño de los vasos la lámpara será más o menos grande. Podéis usar vasos de chupito para una lámpara de mesilla o, en el otro extremo, vasos de litro para hacer una mega estructura, aunque la medida recomendada es la de los vasos normales de 25cc., que dan una lámpara de unos 50 cm. de diámetro. Al ir grapando los vasos (o enganchándolos con los clips) la lámpara irá cogiendo la forma ella solita. Montad la estructura del portalámparas con la bombilla y el cable. Cuando estéis a punto de terminar de grapar los vasos, dejad un hueco para que quepa el portalámparas con la bombilla y, cuando esté dentro, seguid grapando vasos hasta que quede el espacio cerrado, justo para que pase el cable y no se salga el portalámparas. Y ya está, así de sencillo. Una lámpara de diseño hecha con-sumo cuidado.

made of plastic cups You need 250 plastic cups (you don’t have to buy them, you can recycle them from your parties), staples or clips, a lamp socket, a lamp cord with a plug, a light bulb and that’s it. Depending on the cup size the lamp will be more or less big. You can use shot cups for a night table lamp, or 1lt cups to make an extra large lamp, although the recommended size is the common one (25cc) which makes a lamp of about 50cm diameter. As you staple the cups (or fasten them with clips) the lamp will be taking the shape on its own. Assemble the structure with the lamp socket, the light bulb and the lamp cord. When you’re about to finish stapling the cups, leave a hole so you can fit in the lamp socket and the bulb, and once they’re inside, go on stapling until it is closed, just letting the lamp cord outside. And that’s it, as easy as abc. A design lamp «con-sumo cuidado» made.

training fuerte Quizá algunos hayáis leído estos días, en el Marca u otros periódicos deportivos, que el equipo de Snow Nacional realizó la pretemporada 2012 en Fuerteventura, entrenando en el Gimnasio Pro Training Fuerte de Luis de Dios (Kuky), en Corralejo.

Some of you may have read these days, in Marca or other sport papers, that the National Snow Team played the season 2012 in Fuerteventura, training at Luis de Dios’ (Kuky) Pro-training Fuerte Gym, in Corralejo.

Todas las temporadas deportistas de alto rendimiento pasan por aquí; se trata de un centro de entrenamiento físico funcional que ayuda a conseguir un mayor rendimiento para tu cuer cuerpo. Ya seas un deportista de élite o una persona que quiere simplemente ponerse en forma, aquí se realizan entrenamientos en grupos —nunca superiores a 6 personas—, controlados siempre por los entrenadores y adaptados a las capacidades de cada uno; se trabaja mediante ejercicios en circuitos, con movimientos funcionales, cambios de ritmo, movilidad… con los cuales se logra que el deportista mejore sus objetivos. Lo que mueve este gimnasio es la filosofía y motivación de Kuky y su dilatada experiencia profesional en el mundo del deporte: Licenciado en Educación Física, entrenador de North y Ion durante 7 años, entrenador físico del Equipo Nacional de Snow (Bordercross), de integrantes del Equipo Español de SUP, de muchos profesionales de la copa del mundo de Kitesurfing … y un largo etcetera. Además, en este centro, se dan clases de Power Yoga y preparación física específica para surfistas. ¿Y quién mejor para hablar de los beneficios de un tipo de entrenamiento como éste, que la propia gente que acude a este gimnasio? Aquí tenemos algunos comentarios:

High ranking athletes train here every season. This is a centre for functional physical training that helps your body get a higher level of achievement. Either if you are a high ranking athlete or just one person who wants to get fit, here you will train in groups, never exceeding 6 people, always monitored by trainers who adapt to each of the members’ skills. You are given circuit training exercises, with functional movements, changes in the rhythm, mobility... by means of which athletes improve their objectives. What moves this gym is Kuky’s philosophy and motivation, apart from his wide professional sports experience: graduated in Physical Education, North and Ion’s trainer for 7 years, National Snow team’s trainer (Bordercross). He was also trainer of some member in the Spanish SUP team, and many professionals of the Kitesurfing worldcup... and many more. Power Yoga lessons are also offered in this centre, as well as specific physical training for surfers. Cuatro años más tarde, y ya en esta isla de Fuerteventura, se unen para culminar su proyecto MedioRombo; un espacio joven, fresco e innovador, que cuenta con una galería de arte, que se renueva todos los meses con diferentes exposiciones (fotografía, escultura, pintura…). El 26 de Octubre abrieron sus puertas por primera vez con la exposición conjunta «Espacio-Tiempo’’ y se preparan ya para la próxima exposición fotográfica, a partir del 30 de noviembre, que correrá a cargo de Joaquín García, joven fotógrafo submarino de Lanzarote. Además en sus instalaciones, cuentan con un estudio en el que realizan cualquier tipo de trabajo fotográfico y se dedican también al trabajo en exteriores, realizando reportajes sociales, culturales, deportivos, publicitario, interiores, etc., con los mejores equipos de trabajo del momento.

Four years later and already in Fuerteventura they meet to finish their project «Mediorombo», a young, fresh and innovative space which counts on an art gallery that is updated every month with different exhibitions (photography, sculpture, paintings...). On October 26th they inaugurated their joint exhibition «Espacio-Tiempo», and they’re now getting ready for their next photographic exhibition from November 30th, hosted by Joaquín García, a young underwater photographer from Lanzarote. Moreover in their venues, they count on a study where they make any kind of photographic works, and they also work outside the study, making social, cultural sport and advertising reports, apart from interior shots etc. with the best equipment.
