DREAMGIRLS Dwayne Allen (Marty) a Washington, DC, native, graduated from Duke Ellington School for the Arts and has a BS in Apparel Management. Dwayne moved to Florida 16 years ago, his Florida stage productions include five shows with Peoples Theatre: Fences, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Colored Museum, Once on This Island and Pinder’s Kids. Black Comedy at Ice House Theater, A Lesson Before Dying at Mad Cow Theatre, five shows at Seminole State College: Joe Turner’s Come & Gone, Jitney, Seven Guitars, Piano Lesson and King Hedley II. His recent TV and film credits include Unusual Suspects, Miserably Single and Disney’s Dolphin Tale. Christy Benanti (Stage Manager) has been an NYC-based Stage Manager for the past decade and is happy to have joined the Orlando theater scene. Notable credits include Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding (Off Broadway), Junie B. Jones (National Tour), Mamma Mia (Tour 2.5) and Production Manager on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America. She recently moved to Florida with her fiance and in her spare time works at the Magic Kingdom and makes plans for her upcoming wedding. Love to James! Sheryl Carbonell (Stepp Sister, Ensemble) is passionate about acting and music. Since age seven, she started piano lessons and began performing in musicals and plays. By age fourteen, she performed the role of July in Annie in her hometown, Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She majored in Music Performance and Music Education at the University of Central Florida studying voice and piano. Dr. David Brunner introduced her to musical theater at UCF and to singing professionally with the Orlando Opera Company. She taught music at Maitland Middle School, continuing to sing with the Orlando Opera where she landed a principal role as the Third Spirit in The Magic Flute. The opera experience led Sheryl to study acting. She has appeared in commercials, films and continues to perform on stage.

DREAMGIRLS Jerusha Cavazos (Stepp Sister, Dance Captain, Lorell U/S) is a Senior BFA Musical Theatre major at The University of Central Florida. Jerusha is proud to be making her debut at Mad Cow Theatre. She has been performing and choreographing since age ten and recently appeared in a commercial for Sea World and Disney’s American Idol Experience. Jerusha was most recently seen as Martha in Theatre UCF’s production of Spring Awakening. Past roles include:Mary U/S in Pajama Game, Sarah in Ragtime and a Veil Sister in Side Show. Jamil “Jam” Claxton (C.C. White) is delighted to be part of Mad Cow Theater’s production of Dreamgirls. He is a Florida native who has long been a part of the entertainment scene. Even as a child, he appeared in many local and national venues ranging from amateur performances and studio work to television, commercials, and box office movies. A proud Actor’s Equity Association member, Jamil has been featured in several shows in the area, including Festival of the Lion King and The American Idol Experience at Walt Disney World, and The Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue at Universal Studios Florida. Van Dobbins (Curtis Taylor, Jr.) hails from Nashville, Tennessee. Van studied Classical Voice at Belmont University and attended Carnegie Mellon University for Musical Theatre. He was a lead vocalist for Celebrity Cruises. He currently performs as “Nakawa” in Disney’s Festival of the Lion King and has performed the National Anthem for First Lady Michelle Obama, and performed in seasonal shows at Walt Disney World. His stage work includes, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as Joseph, Ken in Smokey Joe’s Café, and Coalhouse Walker Jr. in Theatre Winter Haven’s Ragtime. Van attends Orlando World Outreach Center in Orlando, Florida, and serves on the praise and worship team as one of the leaders. He is supported by his wife Bree and daughter Jorjah.

DREAMGIRLS TOM EyEN (Book and Lyrics) wrote the book and lyrics for the Broadway musical Dreamgirls, for which he won both the 1982 Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for Best Book of a Musical. Eyen was a pioneer of the off-off Broadway theatre movement in the ‘60s and a prolific experimental playwright. His first commercial success came in 1970 with his satirical comedy The Dirtiest Show in Town. Other plays include Why Hannah’s Skirt Won’t Stay Down, Sarah B. Divine! and Women Behind Bars. He died May 29, 1991. Douglas Gessaman (Scenic Design) is making his Mad Cow scenic design debut, and has had a hand in every Mad Cow show since January. When not enjoying his Busman’s Holiday here in Orlando, Douglas returns home to Austin TX, where he works as a grip (IATSE 484) and stagehand in his neverending quest to avoid a “real job.” He studied at UT & holds a degree from the University of Houston in Lighting Design and Studio Art. Who’d have imagined? Drama was a good career choice. He also designs & fabricates freelance for theatre and industrials.

DREAMGIRLS Cherry Hamlin (Deena Jones) has performed in Papenburg, Germany, on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Holland America cruise lines, and was a featured vocalist with NYC’s Starlight Orchestra. She has also sung with B.B. King’s All Star Band, performed for Disney, Busch Gardens, and Universal Studios theme parks, international corporate conventions, and throughout the state, singularly and with several bands. Cherry has done film, television, and commercial work, and has shared a stage with Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Jorge Ben Jor, and Patrice Covington, opening for Kindred The Family Soul. Theatre credits include Apollo Perfomer in The Buddy Holly Story; Aretha/Cherry in Beehive: The 60’s Musical; Woman 1/Cherry in Christmas, My Way; Mabel in The Pajama Game and Francisca in West Side Story. Cherry studied Theater Performance at Hampton University. Cherry is a proud AEA member! Ray Hatch (Director, Choreographer) has been actively involved in the theatre arts and dance for almost 40 years, choreographing his very first production, West Side Story, at the age of 19. From there, he has traveled extensively, choreographing, directing, and acting. He has spent many years working in the DC/Maryland area, where he choreographed Little Shop of Horrors and co-choreographed Ragtime, Dreamgirls, and Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, among others. In Orlando, he has directed various shows in the Fringe Festival, including the award-winning Lone Star. This is not his first time at Mad Cow Theatre; he previously directed the theatre’s production of Yellowman. The theatre is very pleased to have him return with this production of Dreamgirls. Clinton Harris (James “Thunder” Early) is delighted to be working with Mad Cow Theatre Company and this dynamic cast and crew. A native of Atlanta, Clinton is a graduate of Tri Cities High School VPA Magnet Program, alumnus of the Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, and attended Albany State University, majoring in Theatre. Clinton has toured internationally as a background vocalist for several recording artists. Currently, Clinton performs in Disney’s Finding Nemo: The Musical. Other credits include: Standing On Ceremony, Full Monty, Rent, Hair, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Black Nativity, Soweto! Soweto! Soweto! A Township is Calling, Suzan-Lori Parks’s 365 Days: 365 Plays series, and Dreamgirls. Clinton is a proud member of Actors Equity Association. HENRY KRIEGER (Composer) began composing for Off-Off Broadway in his twenties, a venue that led to his meeting with playwright-lyricist Tom Eyen. Together with director-choreographer Michael Bennett, they created the long running hit musical Dreamgirls, which won six Tony Awards, and Mr. Krieger was nominated for his now legendary score for which he won the Grammy Award for Best Original Cast Album. His most recent Broadway musical, Side Show, with book and lyrics by Bill Russell, opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in November 1997. Side Show received four Tony nominations, including Best Score.

DREAMGIRLS Philip King (Musical Director, Keyboard) is an active bass-baritone, pianist, and composer. He studied Voice and Piano Performance at Drake University. Mr. King has served as Musical Director for numerous theatre and opera productions, including: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Secret Garden, 9 to 5, Winter Wonderettes, Annie, Billy Bishop Goes to War, Next to Normal, Bare: A Pop Opera, Miss Saigon, The Marvelous Wonderettes, The Last Five Years, Thursday’s Children (world premiere production), Gutenberg! The Musical!, Beyond the Rainbow, Cabaret, The Gift of the Magi, and Into the Woods. As a composer, Philip was selected to participate in the 2010 Lehigh University Composers’ Forum, and has worked in Master Classes with Steven Sametz, Chen Yi, Abbie Betinis, and Stephen Paulus. He currently performs regularly with Gloria Musicae, Sarasota’s professional chorus. Ricardo Lastrapes (Little Albert, Ensemble) is a second year BFA Acting Major at UCF who transferred into the program after receiving his AA in Theater from Florida State College at Jacksonville. He has been seen around town in The Vine Theater’s production of Godspell, Theatre UCF’s production of Side Show (Sheik) and The Orlando Repertory Theatre’s Writes of Spring: Cobblestones; he has also performed in numerous shows in Jacksonville, most notably as Seymour Krelborn in Little Shop of Horrors. He also performed in Nantes, France, originating the role of Saturiwa in La Caroline: A New Rock Opera. Other credits include Book of Days, The Who’s Tommy, The Full Monty, Gypsy, Beauty and the Beast, and Camelot. Shannon Lynch (Sweetheart, Ensemble) is celebrating her first show at Mad Cow, graduated cum laude in 2012 from Rollins College, where she earned her bachelor’s in theatre arts with a double emphasis in musical theatre and directing. Since graduation, she has been a part of Universal’s Grinchmas Wholiday Spectacular, Sea World’s Polar Express Experience, directed East Ridge High School’s production of Driving Miss Daisy, and understudied for a number of shows at Orlando Shakespeare Theater, including Miss Nelson Has A Field Day which she performed in as Lauren. Currently, Shannon works in social media management with Green Gazelle Marketing and can been seen as one of the show hosts of the Bikini Bottom Breakfast at Nickelodeon Suites Resort. Shonn McCloud (Tru-Tone, Ensemble) is a Senior BFA Musical Theatre major at the University of Central Florida. He was last seen on the UCF stage as Jake in Side Show. He was also cast in UCF’s production of Ragtime during spring of 2012 as a Harlem Man and has had the privilege to play Tony in the Monticello Opera House’s production of You Can’t Take it With You and Radio Announcer in their production of Live Radio Theater. DREAMGIRLS Mike & Kathy Buck Designs (Costume Design) Mike and Kathy Buck Designs is thrilled to be making their Mad Cow Theatre debut after having costumed over 150 productions in the Tampa Bay Area. They are a two year recipient of the Best of the Bay Award for their work at freeFall Theatre (A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Cabaret) and winner of the 2010 Jeff Norton Award in Theatre Excellence (The God of Isaac). Favorite productions include A Christmas Carol, The Gaspar Ballet, August: Osage County, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Comedy of Errors, The Graduate, Into the Woods, and most recently American Stage in the Park’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. As Lead Designer, Chris Blem is excited to take a break from his work in New York to collaborate once again with Mike and Kathy Buck Designs. Chris is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with his BFA in Musical Theatre. Alan Overlander (Lighting Design) is thrilled to be working with Ray and an incredibly talented cast on this production. He has been studying lighting and theater technology most of his life but has never taken a formal theater class. He has been a resident designer here in the Pasture for the last 8 years with credits that include: Mass Appeal, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Enchanted April, Assassins, The Caretaker, A Lesson Before Dying and many others as well as many years with the Orlando Cabaret Festival.

DREAMGIRLS Clarence Reynolds (Tru-Tone, Jerry, Ensemble) is pleased to be making his Mad Cow Theatre debut. Born in Germany and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Clarence has spent much of his life in front of audiences. As an actor, he has appeared in national commercials for Sprint, Toyota and Denny’s. On stage, Clarence delivered an award-winning performance as Jim in Big River at Indianapolis Civic Theater. His film credits include principal roles in a major motion picture, Holy Man, and independent films, A Song for Jade, and Pick Up Boyz. Clarence has worked as a television host for QVC, HSN and BET. He has also worked as a news anchor and reporter in Atlanta and Indianapolis. Clarence is a graduate of Troy University (M.S.) and American University (B.A.). Damany Riley (Tru-Tone, Ensemble) is excited to return to Mad Cow Theatre. His previous Mad Cow credits include Romeo and Juliet and the title role in Everyman. He was recently seen in The Boys Next Door as Lucien Smith. Damany studied Theatre at Catawba College. Michael Sapp (Tiny Joe Dixon, Ensemble) is very honored to be in the show, his fifth show at Mad Cow Theatre. It has been a pleasure working with this wonderful cast and crew. Carson Scott (Sound Design) is very excited to be joining the Mad Cow family as Sound Designer for Dreamgirls, where he served as the Audio Engineer for this year’s Orlando Cabaret Festival. Felander Stevenson (MC, Wayne, Ensemble) is very excited to be in his dream show, Dreamgirls and is pleased to make his Mad Cow debut in such an iconic production with such unbelievably talented cast members. This Montgomery, Alabama, native is a professional singer/songwriter whose works have been featured in TV & Film. Felander’s more recent theatre credits include Jacobe in La Cage aux Folles at Surfside Playhouse, Jesus Christ Superstar at Cocoa Village Playhouse, and Jingle Jammers at Legoland California. DREAMGIRLS Jayne Trinette (Effie White) is excited to be a part of the cast of Dreamgirls! Favorite credits: National tours of Disney’s The Lion King and Caroline Or Change. Other credits: Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Little Shop of Horrors, and Live with Kelly and Michael. Jayne received her BFA in Professional Theater from North Carolina A&T State University. Thanks to the Dreamgirls cast and crew, Disney family, and Perfected Love International Fellowship. Much love to my phenomenal husband. www.jaynetrinette.com. Jer. 29:11 Jasmine Thompson (Lorrell Robinson) is new to the world of musical theatre, though she is a seasoned performer. With extensive training in gymnastics, Jasmine received a full scholarship to Iowa State University. Her interest in theatre was sparked during her junior year. She performed as Lachesis in The Three Fates. Following college, Jasmine made her way to Florida where she became fast friends with Princess Tiana at Walt Disney World. Her next role would come as an acrobat in the Block Party Bash Parade. She then went on to sing full-time at the Disney Channel Rocks stage at Hollywood Studios. Jasmine is eager to expand her musical theatre knowledge, and excited to take on this new adventure as Lorrell Robinson. Erika Thomas (Michelle Morris) a vibrant singer and actor, studied Business Administration at Clark Atlanta University where she became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She currently performs at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Festival of the Lion King as Kibibi. Some of her past theatrical credits includes, Black Voices, Three Penny Opera, Little Shop of Horrors. She’s so grateful and excited to be a part of Mad Cow Theatre’s production of Dreamgirls! Elaina Walton (Stepp Sister, Ensemble) is a Florida native, and has had a love for the arts since she was a young girl. She received her B.A in Theater from the University of West Florida. She was recently seen as Dee in Chasing George Washington at Orlando Repertory Theatre. Elaina is beyond ecstatic to be making her Mad Cow debut in such a wonderful show with such an amazing cast. She would like to thank her family for their unbelievable love, support, roots, and wings. Khalifa White (Charlene, Ensemble) is a freshman in the Musical Theatre B.F.A. program at the University of Central Florida. Dreamgirls at Mad Cow Theatre is White’s first professional production. This past fall White was cast in UCF’s production of Sideshow. White was also featured in this months issue of chArt Magazine for a collaborative art project where she wrote and co-produced a song influenced by the book Marlins Cry. She is active in performing at the University and has recently made a YouTube channel where she vlogs and sings covers.

DREAMGIRLS Victoria White (Sweetheart, Ensemble) is making her first appearance on the Mad Cow stage. You may have also seen her as Cora in Pearl the Musical at last year’s Orlando Fringe Festival. Victoria grew up in Cocoa, Florida, and earned a B.A. in Theatre from Florida State University in 2009. She also studied at Art’s Sake Acting Studio in Winter Park, and is currently studying improv at SAK Comedy Lab in Downtown Orlando. She would like to thank Director Ray Hatch for this opportunity to perform with such a talented cast and crew. The Woleks (Wig Design) is a third generation wig design company. Originally from Syracuse, NY, Janet and Ron followed Lois into a career as master wig stylists, hairdressers, and makeup artists. Ron began his wig design career at the Mad Cow on A Later Life, directed by Martin Charning, and currently is the War Horse 1st National Tour Supervisor. Ron’s prior credits include Disneyland Wig Department Head 2007-2011, Universal Studios, and Orlando Opera. The Woleks are thrilled to be back with the herd for the 18th time at Mad Cow Theatere. Kevin Zepf (Dave/Frank/Ensemble) is thrilled to return to Mad Cow Theatre in a musical after recently performing in this past season’s comedy of manners, Private Lives. Other notable performances at Mad Cow include She Stoops to Conquer and Gone Missing. Kevin’s NYC credits include the Off-Broadway premiere of Green Gables (York Theatre). His favorite Central Florida shows include Assassins at Mad Cow, Evil Dead at Theatre Downtown and Sweeney Todd with Mad Cow Theatre and Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. Kevin received training from The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University in St. Louis. He would like to thank his family, co-workers and friends for all their love and support.
