Mad Cow Theatre Mad Cow Theatre now in our 22nd season, is downtown Orlando’s destination for professional theatre. MCT was founded on the belief that the theatre is a dynamic and powerful means of social understanding, as well as a hugely entertaining art form. Through the combination of passionate, skillful acting and compelling, insightful writing, nurtured by an attentive and ever-changing process, Mad Cow presents entertaining works of theatre to an ever-widening audience — promoting, enhancing, and celebrating the human condition through art. Meet the Playwright Jaclyn Backhaus playwright and co-founder of Fresh Ground Pepper. Her play Men On Boats was
a New York Times Critics’ Pick after premiering in Clubbed Thumb’s Summerworks and was a Kilroys play in 2015. Other works include People Doing Math Live, The Incredible Fox Sisters, You on the Moors Now, Bull’s Hollow, and the musical Folk Wandering. She has received commissions from Playwrights Horizons and Ars Nova and was a Tow Foundation Playwright-in-Residence at Clubbed Thumb. Her work has been developed and showcased with the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Playwrights Horizons, the Public and Joe’s Pub, the Ice Factory Festival, (not just) 3 New Plays, the Civilians R&D Group, SPACE on Ryder Farm, Ars Nova’s ANT Fest, and the Falcons.

Men on Boats MISSY BARNES (Old Shady) is excited to join the herd. An associate professor at Rollins College, she has worked as an actor and director in a variety of cities. In addition to holding an MFA in music theatre from Roosevelt University Chicago, Missy is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and the Michael Chekhov acting technique. Favorite theatrical experiences include The Niceties (Janine), Cabaret (Fräulein Schneider), Boeing Boeing (Berthe), Sweet Charity (director), and Steel Magnolias (director).
St. Petersburg and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time at the Hippodrome in Gainesville. Cynthia recently played the title role in The Virgin Queen Entertains Her Fool during PlayFest 2019 at Orlando Shakes Theater, and knows that the theatrical life is the greatest adventure! DANIELLE BOULOY (Hawkins) is new to the Mad Cow stage. Recent roles include understudy in Macbeth at Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Susan in A Slow Ride at Timucua Arts Foundation, and Helen Thorpe in a staged reading of Just Like Us at Orlando Repertory Theatre. Danielle studied the Meisner and Chekhov acting techniques at Truthful Acting Studios and holds a BA in performance from Florida State University. She is thankful for the undying support of her family.
Kevin G. Becker (Sound Design) is known for his collaborative spirit and has worked with Mad Cow Theatre, Phantasmagoria, Orlando Shakes, the Orlando Fringe Festival, Rollins College and Sarah Lawrence College among others. A gifted composer and expert in devised work he received his MFA in Theatre Arts from Towson University and a B.A. in music composition from Muhlenberg College. He performed in the 24th Varna Summer International Theatre Festival in Bulgaria, where he collaborated with Venelin Shurelov of SubHuman Theatre (http://www. subhumantheatre.com). He is very thankful for his friends, family, and the Orlando community, who are a constant source of inspiration
LISA BUCK (Properties Master) Set designs include The Road to Mecca, Mrs. Warren’s Profession, Painting Churches, Boesman and Lena (Mad Cow), Don Pasquale, Abduction from the Seraglio, and Carmina Burana (Orlando Opera), Madama Butterfly, II Barbiere di Siviglia, Tosca, The Magic Flute (Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra) and The Tender Land (UCF). Lisa studied painting at Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, and Cobalt Studios. She has won numerous awards for her painting and has written how-to-paint articles for North Light Publications.
CYNTHIA BECKERT (Powell) is delighted to return for her fourth season to Mad Cow, where she has appeared in Top Girls, Rapture Blister Burn, Grounded, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife and The God Game. Other Florida appearances include Pipeline at American Stage Theatre Company in

Men on Boats BLUE ESTRELLA (ASM) is ecstatic about her 1st production with Mad Cow! She received a Bachelor’s in theatre arts at Stetson University and began her theatre career as a lighting/ sound improviser at SAK Comedy Lab and as Production Technician at the JCC Theatre. An SM/ASM at Garden Theatre for three seasons (Ragtime, 1984, Xanadu, Flashdance, Georgia McBride), her other SM credits include It All Started at the Radisson Inn, Wild Party and The Orlando Fringe. She’s the Resident SM/Play-In-A-Day Production SM/Assistant for Beth Marshall Presents and directs and choreographs the Ocoee Knights Visual Ensemble! #knightsvisualensemble #ohsba
Family, The Little Foxes, Fun Home, and Outside Mullingar and sets for The Brothers Size, A View from the Bridge, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and Top Girls. Eric has worked in regional theater with Pioneer Theatre Company, Sacramento Theater Company, Utah Shakespeare Festival, and numerous others. He thanks his family for their support. KATIE DE BARI (Bradley) is blessed to perform at MCT for the first time with these awesome women. She is an actor, choreographer and recently an artist in residence at Nature/Art/Habitat in northern Italy. Recent roles include Hermes in Giving Up the Ghost at Tisch Black Box and Coyote in Aniima Mundii at Hudson Guild in NYC. She holds a BFA in drama (experimental theatre) from New York University. Katie is grateful for friendes, family, and teachers and is excited to make more collaborative art in Orlando.
LAUREL HATFIELD (Hall) is thrilled to be in her first show at Mad Cow. Los Angeles credits: My Fair Lady (La Mirada Theatre), Me and My Girl (Musical Theatre West), Quilters (Performance Riverside), and The Roar of the Greasepaint … (Musical Theatre Guild). Select Orlando credits: Elf and Seussical (Orlando Rep), Sister Act (Osceola Arts), Children of Eden (Theater at St. Luke’s), Evita (Ensemble, Orlando Shakespeare Theater). Other: Gilmore Girls, Passions, Disney Cruise Line. Training: University of California, Irvine.
Amanda Decker (Costume Designer) is ecstatic for her first opportunity to costume design for Mad Cow Theatre, but she is no stranger to this incredible place. She was last seen as Lady Nijo in MCT’s production of Top Girls. Other costume design credits include Elf The Musical Jr. at the Orlando Repertory Theatre and Aladdin Jr. at BackStory Theatre Academy. Amanda is a former costume assistant for the Walt Disney World Company and was also a seamstress for the Orlando Repertory Theatre.
HILARY KELLY (Goodman/Mr. Asa) is thrilled to be making her Mad Cow debut. Hilary is a Florida native and recently returned to Orlando after spending nine years in Washington, D.C., where she graduated with a BA from The George Washington University. Favorite D.C. credits include

Antony and Cleopatra, Doctor Faustus, Exit Carolyn, Blight, Macbeth, readings of new plays, and several turns with a troupe that performs Shakespeare’s works in bars across the Delmarva. For you, Mom.
ALLISON PIEHL (Dunn) is excited to be back at Mad Cow, where she appeared in Pride and Prejudice, Top Girls, It Was a Very Good Yule: 1950s Edition, and It Was a Very Good Year: 1952/1972. She has been singing in Central Florida theme parks for more than a decade and was part of the opening cast of Hong Kong Disneyland’s Mickey and the Wondrous Book. She earned a BA in theatre at Florida State University.
REBEKAH LANE (Director) is t hrilled to be back at MCT after choreographing Once. She also is movement coach for Rhinoceros at Valencia College Theater. Favorite projects include puppetry coaching for Mad Cow’s’s Hand to God and directing Rebel Girls off-Broadway for the National Theatre for Student Artists. Rebekah earned her MFA at Towson University. She is director of puppetry for Phantasmagoria Orlando and a drector for the School of Arts and Entertainment at Valencia.
IRIS LYNNE SHERMAN (Sumner), originally from Pittsburgh, is a graduate of Point Park University with a bachelor of fine arts in dance. She is a teaching artist for Disney’s performing arts program and the Orlando Ballet‘s community enrichment program. Iris was last seen in God Bless America and It’s Always Raining at the Best Buy in the Be Original Theater Festival at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Many thanks to Mad Cow, cast and crew!
ANA MARTINEZ MEDINA (Seneca/The Bishop) is a recent MFA acting graduate from the University of Central Florida. Last summer she played the Prince in El Principito/The Little Prince at Mad Cow. Other recent Florida credits: Becoming Dr. Ruth (assistant director), A Christmas Story (Ensemble, understudy for Mother), Richard II (Queen and others), A Doll’s House, Part 2 (Emmy), In the Heights (Ensemble) and Jungle Book (Mother Wolf, Bhopla).
ALYSSA WILL ZEGERS (Stage Manager) is excited to be back at Mad Cow after stage-managing Incognito for the Science Play Festival. Her recent credits include stage-managing Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s productions of Snow White, Miss Nelson is Missing, and Jack and the Beanstalk. Special thanks to her husband and family for putting up with her schedule.
EMA PAVA (Howland/Tsauwiat) is thrilled to make her Mad Cow debut. She will present a voice recital this spring at the University of Central Florida and performs in events yearround with Phantasmagoria Orlando. Favorite roles include Lucy in Jekyll and
