The Secret Garden Marsha Norman (Playwright) is the winner of the 1983 Pulitzer Prize, Blackburn Prize, Hull-Warriner, and Drama Desk Awards for her play Night , Mother. In l992 she won a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award for her book for the Broadway musical The Secret Garden. She also wrote the book for the Broadway musical, The Color Purple, for which she also received a Tony nomination. The Color Purple is currently in the third year of its national first-class tour. Her new play, Master Butcher’s Singing Club, premiered at the Guthrie Theatre in the fall of 2010. She won a Peabody Award for her writing on the HBO television series In Treatment starring Gabriel Byrne and Dianne Wiest. Her most recent work is the adaptation of The Trumpet of the Swan: A Novel Symphony for Actors and Orchestra,with music conducted and written by Jason Robert Brown. The CD has been released by TRW and PS Classics. Her other plays include Getting Out, for which she won the John Gassner Medallion and the American Theater Critics Association Citation; Third And Oak: The Laundromat and The Pool Hall; The Holdup; Traveler In The Dark; Sarah And Abraham; Loving Daniel Boone, Trudy Blue; and Last Dance. Lucy Simon (Composer) born 1943, is an American composer for the theatre and popular songs. She is known for the musical The Secret Garden. She is the older sister of musician Carly Simon, and her father was Richard L. Simon, cofounder of the publishing house Simon & Schuster. Simon, grew up in Fieldston, a section of Riverdale in the Bronx. She attended the Fieldston School, graduating in 1958, and Bennington College. Simon began her professional career at the age of sixteen, singing folk tunes with sister Carly and later folk-rock. Lucy Simon made her Broadway debut as the composer of The Secret Garden, for which she was nominated for a 1991 Tony Award for Best Original Score and a 1991 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music. She also wrote songs for the offBroadway show A … My Name is Alice. Simon’s setting of Wynken, Blynken, and Nod has been recorded by many diverse artists, including the Doobie Brothers, Mitzie Collins, and the Big Three (Cass Elliot, Tim Rose, and James Hendricks). In the seventies, Simon made two singer/songwriter-styled albums for RCA Records, the self-titled Lucy Simon, followed by Stolen Time. She composed the music for a musical version of the Russian novel Dr. Zhivago, with lyricists Michael Korie and Amy Powers and book writer Michael Weller. The musical had its world premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse, San Diego, California, in May 2006. She won a Grammy award in 1981 with her husband, David Levine, in the Best Recording for Children category for In Harmony/A Sesame Street Record, and again in 1983 in the same category for In Harmony 2. The Secret Garden Sara Catherine Barnes (Martha) is thrilled to be returning to Mad Cow in The Secret Garden. Sara Catherine’s previous roles at Mad Cow include Olive Ostrovsky in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Jenny in Company, Gymnasia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Rose Mundy in Dancing at Lughnasa, and the tour guide in The Light In The Piazza. Last year she choreographed James Joyce’s The Dead here in the pasture. Other favorite roles include the Baker’s Wife in Into The Woods, Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, Woman 2 in Songs For A New World and Wendy Jo in the national tour of Footloose: The Musical. Sara Catherine received a bachelor of fine arts in musical theatre from the University of Central Florida Conservatory Theatre, and she heads the dance department at Celebration High School. Lisa Buck (Props Master) Set designs include The Road to Mecca and Mrs. Warren’s Profession (Mad Cow Theatre), Don Pasquale, Abduction from the Seraglio and Carmina Burana with the

Cirque du Soleil dancers (Orlando Opera) and Madama Butterfly, Tosca and II Barbiere di Siviglia (Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra). Scenic charge credits includes Cary Wong’s The Magic Flute, Later Life with Martin Charnin, Sunday in the Park With George, Enchanted April, Death of a Salesman, Collected Stories, and Venus in Fur. Lisa earned a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and was art director for Danskin Dancewear in New York. She studied painting at Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, and Cobalt Studios in White Lake, NY. She has won numerous awards for her painting and has written how-to-paint articles for North Light Publications. Rachel Carreras (Ayah) is thrilled to be making her Mad Cow debut. She has appeared most recently in the Candlelight Processional at Epcot and in Aida last summer with Encore! Rachel graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in vocal performance. Two of her favorite roles have been the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro and Sarah

Will is nine years old and in fourth grade at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School. This is Will’s first professional production, although he has enjoyed performing in many plays through Central Florida Music Studio. He also enjoys soccer, reading and video games. Will would like to thank his family for their love and support, as well as David Foust, Danielle Smith, and Felicia Melcer for their constant encouragement.

Both production companies allowed her to premiere original theatrical movement-based works around the country. Locally, she has produced and choreographed three short dance films and the original plays Where the Sidewalk Ends and Connected: An Interactive Experience. Holly is pleased to be making her Mad Cow debut with her choreography in The Secret Garden.

Glenn Gover (Ben Weatherstaff) is a member of Actors’ Equity Association. Mad Cow: Professor Sloane in The Explorers Club, Jimmy in The Pitmen Painters, and Ira in Laughter on the 23rd Floor, which he reprised at American Stage in St. Pete. Orlando Philharmonic at Bob Carr: Mr.Twimble/Wally Womper in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. FreeFall Theatre Company: Judge Gaffney in Harvey, Sancho in Man of La Mancha, and Ko-Ko in The Mikado. Glenn studied at Baltimore Actors’ Theatre Conservatory. Maryland credits include the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret and Doolittle in My Fair Lady. He originated the title role in Pendragon: A Tale of Young King Arthur at the Smithsonian Discovery Theatre. Glenn will be appearing next spring at Winter Park Playhouse as Hucklebee in The Fantasticks.

Sara Jones (Mrs. Medlock) has a BFA in musical theatre from UCF. At Universal Studios she appears at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and in Grinchmas. Jones has created such cabaret shows as Jonesie Takes New York, Big In Winter Park, and I Am The F ... Show, all of which premiered at the Orlando Fringe. She has performed in the Orlando Cabaret Festival, at the Abbey and at Don’t Tell Mama’s and the Duplex in NYC. She studied musical theatre and cabaret in Germany and taught acting for singers at Music Theatre Bavaria. Past Mad Cow productions include Jacques Brel is Alive and Well ... and Archy and Mehitabel, where she played alongside Michael Andrew. Favorite roles include Mazeppa in Gypsy, Kate McGowen in Titanic, Rita La Porta in Lucky Stiff, Mrs. Prentice in What The Butler Saw, Maggie in Dancing at Lughnasa, the Witch in Into The Woods, and many others.

Holly Harris (Choreographer) graduated from the University of South Florida with an elementary education degree and also pursued master dance classes in Florida and New York. She is founder and creative director of the

His most recent work includes Sister Act and Shrek (Theatre Winter Haven), My Fair Lady (Ocala Civic Theatre), and the 13th annual Orlando Cabaret Festival (Mad Cow). Other Mad Cow credits include Hair, Dreamgirls, and Next to Normal. In addition to theatrical work, Philip has appeared in concert with Gloria Musicae; Encore! Cast Performing Arts; the Drake University Choirs; Drake University students, faculty, and guest artists; the Fort Dodge Choral Society, and the Des Moines Metro Opera. Heather Kopp (Lily Craven) Heather returns to the pasture for the third time, after having appeared in Tommy (Mrs. Walker) and Hair (Sheila). She recently finished sailing the Mediterranean and

Baltic as part of the original production cast of the Viking Star. Heather took part in the pre-Broadway tryouts of Bonnie & Clyde with Jeremy Jordan and Laura Osnes and A Tale of Two Cities at the Asolo Repertory Theatre. Other favorites include Miss Saigon (Ellen) at Western Playhouse in Missouri, Godspell at Actors’ Playhouse in Miami, Forbidden Broadway at Winter Park Playhouse, and Joseph ... Dreamcoat (Narrator) at Golden Apple Dinner Theatre in Sarasota. He has worked at numerous theaters in a wide range of roles, from Che in Evita to Mordred in Camelot, Cornelius in Hello, Dolly! to Newman Noggs in Nicholas Nickleby, and many more. He celebrated his sixth anniversary with the Walt Disney Company in June. Steven has a bachelor’s in vocal performance from Stetson University and is a grateful member of Actors’ Equity. Winfield Murdock (Costume Designer) has been in the entertainment industry as a performer and designer since childhood. As a designer and member of the Costume Designers Guild IATSE #892, a costume technician under IATSE #705 and NABET and a graduate Crystal Lizardo (Mrs. Winthrop) is a of Fashion Institute of Design and student at the University of Central Merchandising in San Francisco and Los Florida and is excited to be making her Angeles, he worked on many film and Mad Cow debut. The Secret Garden Zach Nadolski (Archibald Craven) earned a B. Mus. in voice from Vanderbilt University. Recent roles include Anthony in Sweeney Todd (Mad Cow/Orlando Philarmonic), Constantine in A Day In Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine (Winter Park Playhouse), and Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance (American Stage). He has been a principal vocalist for Celebrity and Azamara cruise lines as well as in Donn Arden’s Jubilee in Las Vegas. Zach also performs in various venues at Disney and Universal, most often Finding Nemo: The Musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. He is looking forward to marrying his wonderful fiancé Kurt in a glitzy Las Vegas wedding this coming March. Cole NeSmith (Dickon) has worked professionally in theater, film, and music. His debut at Mad Cow was in James Joyce’s The Dead last season. Cole is cocreator of the Creative City Project, to which he has contributed several interactive performance and installation pieces. He has performed in shows at many theme parks in Central Florida. He co-produced and performed in the original work Connected: An Interactive Experience, which won the Fringe of the Fringe Award at the Orlando Fringe Festival. Cole is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, where he studied music and creative writing. Danielle Paccione (Assistant Production Manager) is originally from Michigan. She has worked behind the scenes and onstage in Philadelphia, New York, Atlantic City, Boston, Deadwood, Louisville, and Detroit, among others. She joined Mad Cow with this year’s Cabaret Festival and is excited to be part of the family.

Rebecca Pancoast (Set Designer) is the new scenic artist at Orlando Shakespeare Theater and freelances as a painter and occasional set designer in the Orlando area and along the east coast. As always, thanks to the production team for the work and a huge hug to Aradhana for making the experience pleasant and artistically exciting. Janine Papin (Mrs. Shelley) was last seen on the Mad Cow stage in James Joyce’s The Dead and is thrilled to be back with the herd. She works at Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park, where she is fine arts chair, auditorium manager, theatre teacher, and director. In 2006 she was awarded the H. Benton Ellis Award for excellence in teaching. She loves performing and sharing her passion for the stage with her students. Some of her favorite roles include the Mother Superior (Nunsense, Theatreworks Florida), Gertie (33 Variations, Beth Marshall Presents), Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd, Mad Cow Theatre and Theatreworks Florida), Pennywise (Urinetown, Valencia College), Mrs. Pierce (My Fair Lady, Orlando Philharmonic/Mad Cow Theatre), and Fräulein Schneider (Cabaret, Valencia College and Starlight Dinner Theater). John Hamilton Rice (Major Shelley/ Holmes) recently moved from Indianapolis, where he appeared as John in Oleanna at the Theatre Within, Dirty Jake in Golden Ticket Production›s original musical Tumbleweed, and Bill Lewis in The Hot L Baltimore at the Epilogue Playhouse. John can be seen regularly at Ollivanders Wand Shop at Universal Studios. He is tremendously pleased to be making his fourth outing with Mad Cow, where he read the part

Bert Rodriguez (Captain Albert Lennox) is making his debut at Mad Cow. He has been seen in Central Florida at Winter Park Playhouse as Carlo in A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, Gabe in Breaking Up Is Hard to Do, and the Loveable Loser in 8-Track: The Sounds of the 70s, and he plays Crush and Marlin in Finding Nemo: The Musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. He toured as Ewart Dunlop in the first national tour of the Broadway revival of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man. Regionally he played Ziegfeld’s Tenor in Funny Girl (Music Theatre of Wichita) and Roger in Grease! (Lyric

Theatre of Oklahoma). BFA in musical theatre performance from the University of Oklahoma. Proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. Aradhana Tiwari (Director) is Mad Cow’s resident director. Tiwari first came to the pasture in 2012 when she directed The Road to Mecca. She went on to direct Enchanted April, Other Desert Cities, The Light in The Piazza, Cock, I and You, The Philadelphia Story and most recently Tribes. Tiwari has an M.A. in theatre from the University of Central Florida. She has been directing since 2004. In-memoriam Dr. Bob Stonerock (1947-2015) Orlando native Dr. Robert F. Stonerock, Jr. was a kidney specialist, tireless supporter of theater and a scientist at heart. Family and friends remembere him as soft-spoken and as a delighted explorer of technologies whose curiosity ranged widely. Bob attended local schools through Boone High, graduated from Rollins and got his medical degree at Vanderbilt University. In the late 1970s, he met Marty, his future wife, then an intensive-care nurse. They married in 1982 at Rollins’ Knowles Memorial Chapel, where his parents had married. Our beloved patron, donor, board member, and friend, Bob led by example, pouring his heart and soul into our community and into the theatre. Bob’s glorious spirit lives on and we are grateful for the loving path he has created. 14
