Mad Cow Theatre celebrates its 14th season in its home in Downtown Orlando. Mad Cow Theatre is one of Orlando’s most respected professional theatre companies presenting compelling works of theatre for a wide-range of audiences, with a passion for both classic and contemporary plays representing the best of American and World literature.

She Stoops to Conquer is performed with one 10-minute intermission. Out of respect for the audience and the artists, patrons who leave the theatre during the performance will not be re-admitted. We regret there is no late seating once the performance has begun. There is no photography, video or recording of this performance allowed.

Mad Cow Theatre attracts the area’s most talented and gifted actors, designers and directors. A mainstay of the company is its dedication to the process of creating theatre, incorporating in-depth rehearsal and research periods along with a nurturing collaborative process. The company has received numerous awards, including Arts Innovator of the Year by United Arts of Central Florida, Best Place to See a Play (Orlando Sentinel), Best Live Theatre (Orlando Weekly), Best Local Theatre Company (Orlando Magazine), and Best Performance Theatre (Orlando Business Journal).

Brian Brightman (Charles Marlow) is celebrating his first production for Brian inside the sweet smelling confines of the Pasture here at Mad Cow. He wants to thank Mitzi and, of course, Katrina for inviting him here; this has been a wondrous experience. Brian would love to dedicate this trip back to the 18th century to BOB, his stunningly beautiful wife and precious daughter and last, but certainly not least, to his best Friend. John Hemphill (Lighting Designer) is proud to continue working with one of the foremost theatres in the Orlando area. John has served in many roles here at Mad Cow including Stage Manager, Lighting Designer and Carpenter. Favorite productions with the herd include She Loves Me, Life Is A Dream, Gone Missing and Molly Sweeney. Away from the pasture, John serves as Lighting/Fountain Designer and Technical Director for SeaWorld Tommy Keesling (Mr. Hardcastle) appeared in several Mad Cow productions in recent seasons, including roles in Arcadia, Our Town, The Constant Wife, Present Laughter, The Seagull, Pericles, I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady From Rwanda, Eurydice, Amadeus, and most recently in last summer’s The Matchmaker. He has appeared at many other Central Florida stages in past years, including Bach at Leipzig for Empty Spaces, The Pillowman for Hubris Theatre, and Take Me Out at Theatre Downtown. He performed at this year’s Fringe Festival in Peg O’Keef Fixes the World, and has appeared in staged readings for PlayFest and Women Playwrights’ Initiative.

Ron McDuffie (Various) is excited to be back on stage and working with some very talented old and new friends. He has been an Orlando resident for the past forty years and a graduate of the University of Central Florida. This is Ron’s forth show with the Cow’s which include performances as Vinnie in The Odd Couple and Aaronow in Glengarry Glen Ross.

Michael Osowski (Various) Katrina Ploof (Director) A native of the great State of Maine, has been a member of the Central Florida arts community for 27 years. Directing credits at Mad Cow include The Laramie Project, Candida, Our Town, and The Butter & Egg Man. As a playwright she has collaborated with Orlando artist Trudy Bruner on a number of works for young people, including their latest piece, Zarafa, the story of the first giraffe to visit Europe in 1827. Katrina directs and choreographs throughout the southeast and is a member of the Lincoln Center Theatre Director’s Lab in New York. As always she is happy to be back at Mad Cow and especially to be working with her partner and muse, Sam Hazell. Elizabeth Russell (Stage Manager) is ecstatic to be back at Mad Cow! She holds her B. A. in Theatre Arts from the University of South Florida. She has worked with Stageworks and Gorilla Theatres in Tampa. Elizabeth currently works at the Walt Disney World Resort as a Coordinator for Tomorrowland Attractions at the Magic Kingdom. She is so grateful for this opportunity! Leander Suleiman (Servant) – loves working at Mad Cow and is happy to a return under the direction of Katrina Ploof aka “Gorgeous”. You may remember Leander from other Mad Cow productions such as: The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, Sonnets for an Old Century, Life is a Dream, and Heidi Chronicles. Other favorite roles include: Bloom in Pippi Longstocking (REP), Mullaya in 9 Parts of Desire (Empty Spaces Theatre), Mrs. Griggs In Ramona Quimby (REP), Madame Zeroni in Holes (REP), and Raja Englanderova in I Never Saw Another Butterfly (REP). Since this is a comedy of manners, it is only fitting to say thank you for advocating the arts. Elizabeth Takacs (Constance Neville) celebrates her first non-musical performance here at Mad Cow Theatre. Previous Herd credits include 3 collaborations with the Orlando Philharmonic: My Fair Lady, Sweeney Todd, and The Music Man. Other Orlando area credits: Mother in Ragtime at Theatre Winter Haven (Pierrot Award, Best Actress In a Musical), Mary in Zombies From The Beyond at Jester Theatre and ensemble in Pippi Longstocking and I Never Saw Another Butterfly at Orlando Rep. Elizabeth earned an AS in Music Theatre from Florida School of the Arts. She thanks her family for their infinite, loving support and her dedicated line driller for his patience.

Stephen Lima (Tony) is honored and excited to be returning for his 7th production with the herd. Originally from Toronto Canada, Stephen is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and was a member of their prestigious showcase Company. Recent credits include Kaufmann in Bach at Leipzig with Empty Spaces Theatre Company and El-Fayoumy in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot with Riverton Playground / Empty Spaces Theatre Co. Mad Cow credits include Bill Walker in Major Barbara, Segismundo in Life is a Dream, Moss in Glengarry Glen Ross and Aston in The Caretaker. Stephen would like to thank this wonderful cast & crew for all their hard work and his wife Betsy for all her love and support.

John Valines (Audio Design) is the 6th member and “Sound Guy” for Toxic Audio who won the Drama Desk award in 2004 during their off-Broadway run. He’s also currently the Technical Director for Sak Comedy Lab. John has had the pleasure of working with Stages Repertory, the Colorado Festival of World Theatre, Orlando Fringe, Florida Studio Theatre, The Orlando REP, Impact Productions and the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre. John also hosts the popular podcast, Radio Rickshaw for rickshawboy.com. Brent Wakelin (Various) is thrilled to return to Mad Cow Theatre. He is a graduate of UCF with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a minor in Dance. Some of his favorite roles include William Barfee in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Norman Bulansky in The Boys Next Door, Charlie Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Cole Porter in Cole! He not only enjoys performing, but also writing, directing and choreographing as well. Jim Walker (Costume Designer) has designed for numerous off-Broadway, regional, TV shows and commercials. They include Ragtime, Sweeney Todd, Copacabana, Nunsense, Forum, Joseph and the Amazing..., Pippin, Suessical, Your A Good Man, Charlie Brown and Miss Saigon. Through his company, The Costume House, Jim has enjoyed working with many HS and College productions around the country. He has been nominated for several prestigious awards and looks forward to designing for Mad Cow this season.

Cindy White (Set Designer) has worked as a show designer and illustrator in Orlando since 1980; first with Walt Disney Imagineering and then as Art Director for Creative Entertainment at Walt Disney World. In 1995 she started Cindy White Art and Illustration; a conceptual design and illustration company. She has designed for theme parks and clients around the world (www.cindywhiteart.com) but also loves working on Orlando Theatre projects. For Mad Cow Theatre her designs have included Humble Boy, Sweeney Todd, The Seagull, She Loves Me, Major Barbara, Amadeus, The Matchmaker and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. She lives with her match, Edwin.

Karel Wright (Mrs. Hardcastle) is thrilled to be returning for a third time with the Mad Cow Theatre. Audiences may remember Karel as Mrs. Higgins in My Fair Lady with the Orlando Philharmonic or Lavinia in The Heiress. She has been a proud member of Actors Equity Association since 1988. Karel received her BFA from the University of Minnesota (Duluth) and MFA from the University of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana). Karel has been seen in many shows at the Minnesota Repertory Theatre and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Karel aslo performed in many venues throughout Disney. Thank you Donald for being such a supportive husband. I could not have done it without you. Kevin Zepf (George Hastings) was last seen at Mad Cow in Gone Missing, Assassins and Sweeney Todd with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra (Bob Carr). Kevin has appeared in Playfest at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre in Charm and Alfred Kinsey: A Love Story. His NYC credits include the Off-Broadway premiere of Green Gables (York Theatre). Some of his favorite regional credits include: Into The Woods, 1776, The Pajama Game, Titanic, and Bat Boy. Kevin received training from The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University in St. Louis. He would like to thank his amazing wife Shannon for all her love & support.

Melanie Whipple (Kate Hardcastle) is a graduate of the Penn State University theatre program. She is a veteran of commercials, industrials, voice overs and the stage. Melanie’s professional career has taken her all over the U.S. and abroad including fifteen months of acting and improvising for Universal Studios Japan. Some of her favorite roles include: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Puck); Romeo and Juliet (Juliet); 42nd Street (Peggy Sawyer) and Sweet Charity (Charity). She can currently be seen in Disney’s Finding Nemo: The Musical as Peach, Deb, Dory or Squirt.
