When we planted olive trees on our coastal farm we had no idea that we would become so passionate about our olive oil. When we started winning awards in international competitions in the US and Japan we knew that we had discovered something special. It’s even more special to share it with other foodies. We are proud of those accomplishments but more importantly, real satisfaction has come from our customers who tell us that Azzuro extra virgin olive oil is their preference. Another discovery has been Due Vittorie’s amazing balsamics - gold star winners too that our customers keep returning for.

welcome! Come for dinner, stay for breakfast. Enjoy uncomplicated, delicious coastal fare in our awardwinning* restaurant, with the best selection of Waiheke wines under one roof. If you can’t bare to leave us spend the night in one of our gorgeous rooms! *Metro Top 50 / Cuisine Good Food Guide

New Zealand cuisine is seasonal and although it is described as Pacific Rim our chefs draw inspiration from every part of the world. Some of our specialty restaurants change their menus four times a year in line with the seasons, but most of our restaurants will have two menus, winter and summer with special promotions around whitebait and Bluff oyster season and other seasonal specialties. We are well known for our fresh produce, seafood and New Zealand also has some of the best wine in the world. You will find in our restaurants world glass wines from our countries 376 wineries. New Zealand’s Best Dining Guide showcases a selection of our restaurants with tantilising images, prices and descriptions so you can easily choose what you like. It might be fish and chips with a Heineken one night or fine dining with a great New Zealand Chardonnay the next, but whatever you choose you can be assured that the restaurants that we show you have great reputations and offer a great dining experience. I recently found a clever and gorgeous café within Taylor Boutique in Mackelvie Street Ponsonby called Eat@ The Shelter. They are offering amazing gluten free bread from The Midnight Baker and a boutique menu with excellent coffee! Check it out if you are shopping in the area. One last thing, always tell the restaurant if you have a bad .. experience, don’t punish them online publicly, tell them so they can fix it, our restaurants work really hard so give them a chance and communicate!

Ebisu From the menu

Ebisu takes the traditional values of Japanese cuisine – freshness, simplicity, painstaking attention to the quality of ingredients – and fused them with the buzz and excitement of contemporary dining. Occupying a historic building in Auckland’s Britomart precinct, Ebisu serves up contemporary Japanese fare. Ebisu draws on a combination of classic Japanese and European techniques to present an outstanding mix of new style sushi and sashimi as well as traditional Japanese dishes. In Japanese mythology, Ebisu is the god of daily food, good lucky and plenty. He is also the guardian of fishermen and merchants, making the restaurant’s location a fitting one. The stripped down design of Ebisu makes the most of the soaring ceilings, large arched windows, exposed brickwork and raw timber columns of the character space. A glassed off indoor terrace lets in light and views from Quay Street and creates an intimate space for group dining or events. Unusually on the Auckland dining scene, Ebisu also introduces live music and DJs into the restaurant, adding to the contemporary atmosphere. Ebisu has been honoured with many awards and accolades in its short lifespan and is sure to exceed your expectations.

Pepitos Arguably the most authentic Spanish Tapas bar in New Zealand, Pepitos sources the largest variety of Spanish wine and beer from all over Spain. Formally, ‘Tapas’ is the art of eating standing up, but Pepitos have created an environment with their unique tables and chairs where you can sit or stand and soak up the Spanish dining experience. This is of course while listening to Spanish music playing in the background. Owner Jose Luis Fowler is best known for his portable paella catering business and importation of Spanish food, craft beer and wine. The restaurant has the look and feel of any low-key tapas bar you may find in Spain, with a long bar of dark stained wood dominating the room, some cheerful tile work and a cabinet crammed with luscious looking tapas. Jose guides you through the extensive wine and beer list and his team of chefs, with extensive experience in Spanish cuisine, provides an excellent dining experience. Spanish Torrefacto coffee is also roasted on site at Milford. Pepitos caters for birthdays, weddings, private group dining and also has a team of on-site caterers offering Paella and Tapas options. They’ve also opened a brand new location, at Sugartree Apartments, Commercial 03/27 Union Street, Auckland Central.

Gina’s Benvenuiti! Welcome to Gina’s Italian kitchen – affectionately known as ‘Ginas’. As an Italian fixture in Auckland for 40 years, the restaurant was originally owned by Bodo and Gina who retired in 1998. Gina’s was then bought by Joyce and Alessandro Fantini. Today the restaurant is larger but still retains its homely, party air with strings of coloured bulbs glowing in the entranceway and ropes of white fairy lights. Serving fabulous Italian food including a great range of pizzas and pastas, with exuberant service, Ginas is an Italian style “trattoria” – simple and tasty. They do lots of game specials and seafood and has a solid wine list, which is food oriented. Joyce and Alessandro have continued the tradition of Gina’s where they prepare warm, hearty Italian food in a joyful and lively atmosphere. If you’re looking for quiet place to dine, keep looking, but if you’re after a vivacious and energetic ambiance, you’ve come to the right place. Exuberant service from saucy Italian waiters only puts the cherry on top!

IKA Seafood Bar & Grill ‘Ika’, pronounced ‘eeka’ has brought a unique approach to seafood dining to the Auckland scene, combining freshness with affordability. Chef Brendon Petersen selects fresh fish daily, serving much of it whole or as part of an ever-changing selection of small plates, stews and larger meals. Brendon was one of the eight chefs chosen to cook for President Nelson Mandela and special guests at his Robben Island inauguration celebrations and it’s easy to see why he’s so highly rated. NZ grass fed, aged meat is grilled to perfection; free range pork and chicken is also available. Laila Harré completes the leading duo, trading politics for a passion for good, sustainable food. Her friendly serving team creates a warm atmosphere in the heritage dining room. A small, but carefully selected, beverage list features boutique Waiheke wine alongside favourites from other regions, cocktails, mocktails and a range of beers and nonalcoholic drinks. Ika Seafood Bar and Grill was rated one of Auckland’s 2015 Top 50 eateries for under $50 by Metro Magazine in their first month, no easy feat! Brendon and Laila prove that good, fresh and generous food can be affordable too.

El Sizzling Chorizo We hail from Argentina, the land of the Pampas, The Pumas, Che Guervara, Evita, Maradona and Messi. But most importantly, the land of the gauchos; where a barbeque (or asado) is not only about ‘eating meat’ but more of a cult of enjoying a nice conversation with friends, drinking a good ‘red’ to only then savor the delicious meat that has been grilled patiently over slow burning coals. If you are after a mouth watering feast with a “special touch” then El Sizzling Chorizo is the guaranteed option. Nestled within the bustling Ponsonby Central district, this is the perfect establishment for any time of gathering. If you get a counter seat you can watch the fiery show in front of you and enjoy the banter of Spanish speaking, bandana-wearing fire masters. Their wooden platters are piled high with juicy cuts of all types of meat, served with salad greens and traditional chimichurri sauce. There’s also house made chorizo (of course), empanadas and barbecue potatoes as well as a divine vegetarian option. So relax, take your time and get ready to taste the real flavour of the Pampas, right here in the heart of Auckland City. We are open Monday to Sunday from 11:30 am till late and you don’t have to book.

HAWKE’S BAY

Ten Twenty Four Ten Twenty Four Restaurant is most suitably defined as “country dining”. With a setting that’s undeniably rustic; Ten Twenty Four is part Dutch colonial, part hacienda, with a spacious dining room leading out to a sunny courtyard. The service is friendly, familiar and as dish after dish of elegantly composed food is placed before you, the words “fine dining” spring to mind. The menu at Ten Twenty Four changes every day, according to what produce is at hand, in fact, the menu doesn’t get printed until 11:30 am and owner and Chef Kent Baddeley has even been known to make changes during service. With Ken’s cuisine, there’s a close identification with artisan produce, much of it local: edible flower and leaf garnishes are grown in the restaurant’s own kitchen garden. Staff at Ten Twenty Four are experienced, both in their intelligent wine matching advice and in their sense of when to interact, and when to withdraw. Alongside Kent Ten Twenty Four has created a new genre in the ever growing foodie nation; fine country dining.
