Bleach

Bleach* is the Gold Coast Festival, taking place annually across the City in April. The program is one of Australia’s leading and most exciting site-specific, contempo ary arts programs.

Quintessentially Gold Coast, Bleach* celebrates the city’s most dynamic and adventurous artists, welcomes renowned Australian and International collaborators and engages a broad audience through a range of events.

Utilising the Gold Coast’s world famous natural landscape as unconventional venues, Bleach* aims to deliver incredible arts and cultural experiences that challenge expectations, change perceptions and provide a unique and authentic sense of place, inspiring both locals and visitors alike.

Bleach* has attracted more than half a million people since its inaugural year in 2012.

The program features work across all genres including dance, theatre, contemporary music, opera, installations, circus and major public events.

The festival returns from 17 – 28 April 2019 with two signature events as part of the program.

Verdi’s Requiem

Bleach* and Griffith University, in partnership with HOTA, Home of the Arts, present Verdi’s Requiem by Opera Queensland, featuring the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra.

Verdi’s Requiem provides the perfect score for a powerful moment in time, taking the Requiem as a symbol of new beginnings for the City and the Festival.

Our centrepiece production, this music is an invitation to gather and look within ourselves as the music invites us to reflect and have hope. This outdoor large-scale concert featuring over 150 performers, includes the world-famous Dies Irae with soaring melodies, musical drama and sheer passion.

Limbo Unhinged by Strut and Fret

Push open the door and open your mind to a place where time is elastic, and transcendence is an illusion.

LIMBO UNHINGED delves deeper into the exhilarating party that is the award winning, international sensation limbo; this production is a further exploration of this brazenly crazed and wildly hypnotic world with your favourite limbo characters alongside a host of new, internationally-renowned performers.

The international cast features Coney Island’s sword swallower and vintage beauty, Heather Holliday (USA), contortionist and acrobat, Aurelien Oudot (FRA), gravity-defying Chinese Pole and beatboxing master Mikael Bres (FRA), dancing sensation Hilton Denis (AUS) and introducing aerial sensation Marco Motta (BRA), hand to hand experts, Charlotte O’Sullivan (CAN) and Nicolas Jelmoni (MCO), alongside the acrobatic expertise of Rémi Martin Lenz (GER).

Continuing all the sexiness, sizzle and edge of your seat spectacle of limbo, this scintillating new show will take you to an even grittier place.
