If you had a personal Magic Millions highlight reel what would be on it?

“Bowness has been the birth place and consigner of such classy Magic Millions horses as Torio’s Quest (Queensland Guineas-Gr.2, 1600m and the Magic Millions Guineas, 1400m) and Think Bleue (Alexandra Stakes-Gr.3, 1600m).”

Your biggest giveaway that proved to be a topliner later?

“Torio’s Quest was sold for only $15,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions and went on to win five races and over $900,000. He was a nice yearling whose sire Oratorio just wasn’t the flavour of the month at the time.

“Deiheros was another; we got just $6500 for him, a home-bred son of Bon Hoffa who won the Adelaide Magic Millions and the Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast, amassing just short of $800,000.”

What was your first job? “A stockman in the northern rivers of NSW.” What’s your hidden talent? “No hidden talents, what you see is what you get, a basic all-rounder!” What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a kid?

“I wanted to be a stockbroker like my father or possibly a vet; my grades weren’t good enough to study to be a vet and my maths in the days before calculators wasn’t much good either!” l
