Speciliazing in select yearling sale drafts that offer the option of expertly prepared youngsters by a variety of proven and up-and-coming stallion, Murrulla Stud heads towards the 2019 Magic Millions with a lovely group of horses...

LOT 185 - bay colt by I Am Invincible from Australian Champion 3YO filly, NSW Horse of the Year and quadruple Gr1 winner Streama (by Stratum): third foal (her first two fetched $240,000 and $500,000) for a wonderful race mare whose ten victories all came at stakes level with her career highlights including success in the Flight Stakes-Gr.1, 1600m, the ATC Oaks-Gr.1, 2400m, the George Main Stakes-Gr.1, 1600m and the Doomben Cup-Gr.1, 2000m. Like his sire’s Group Three winners Houtzen and Overshare, this fellow boasts a cross of the Golden Slipper-Gr.1, 1200m winning highly successful stallion Canny Lad and he can boast amongst his relations the durable four times Group winner Decision Time. “He is an outstanding colt by a champion sire out of a champion mare,” Murulla’s Tim Nolan said.

SITUATED AT WINGEN, JUST 18KM NORTH OF SCONE, MURRULLA STUD HAS BEEN UNDER THE CARE OF TIM AND CELIE NOLAN SINCE 2008 AND SINCE THAT TIME THEY HAVE ENJOYED A STEADY STREAM OF SUCCESSFUL SALES.

LOT 316 - bay colt by Mossman from Absolutelyanything (by Al Maher): hailing from the final full crop of one of Australia’s most reliable stallions (70.6% winnersto-runners), this lovely first foal is out of a metropolitan winner whose dam is a sister to the dual Group One winner Dash For Cash. Group Two winners Rubidium and Perignon also come from this family as does the recent Cranbourne Cup-Listed, 2025m winner Octabello. Boasts a cross of the great Nijinsky II as do 11 of his sire’s stakes winners including the Golden Slipper heroine Mossfun.

LOT 536 - brown filly by I Am Invincible from Dwindle (by Commands): dam is a three times winning half-sister to the Pago Pago Stakes-Gr.2,1200m winner Tarquin from an exceptionally strong branch of the prolific Pretty Polly family; one that has produced the Group One gallopers Fantastic Light, Hi Dubai, Key To The Moon, Gorgeous, Music Show, Swift Temper, Seaside Attraction, Cape Town, Desert Lord, Alpha, Flashing, Swain and Your Song. “She is a beautiful, precocious looking filly.”

Triple Gr1 winner Streama has her third foal, a magnificent I Am Invincible colt in Murrulla’s 2019 MMGC offering.

LOT 963 - bay colt by Dawn Approach from Fasuka (by Fastnet Rock): a precocious colt out of a two times winner by a champion stallion who is already doing the job as a broodmare sire with 13 stakes winners. Fastnet Rock has done a terrific job with Galileo mares (seven of his Group One winners bred this way) and the opposite cross at work here looks exciting. This colt hails from an outstanding European family whose members include the Group winners Capri, Diamond Mix, Diaslixia, Diamond Dance, Diamond Tango, Desert Skyline, Diamilina, Cypress Creek, Diamond Green and Diamonixa as well as the Geelong Cup-Gr.3, 2406m winning Melbourne Cup-Gr.1, 3200m runner-up Bauer.

LOT 1021 - bay colt by Wandjina from Luminosity (by Starcraft): half-brother to the dual city winner Star Stealer out of a daughter of the imported stakes placed Machiavellian mare Shine On Me (noting that there have been only 11 runners with this Snitzel/Machiavellian combination and two of them are stakes winners including the Group One galloper Summer Passage) from the family of big race winners Contributer and Shaka. He is a big, scopey horse with plenty of improvement to come.”

LOT 1030 - bay colt by Dream Ahead from Mean Louise (by Stratum): first foal for a 3/4 sister to Streama by a stallion who has quietly been doing a good job in the southern hemisphere with five stakes winners and ten stakes placegetters from his first few crops. Of his 20 stakes winners, 11 (including the French Group One winner Al Wukair) are line-bred to Danzig as is this fellow 5mx5m. “A nice colt with a pedigree to match.”

Situated at Wingen, just 18km north of Scone, Murrulla Stud has been under the care of Tim and Celie Nolan since 2008 and since that time they have enjoyed a steady stream of successful sales.

Recent highlights include last year’s Magic Millions with Streama’s Pierro filly sold to the Waterhouse/Bott stable for $500,000; alongside a $180,000 Dissident - My Five Eightyate filly; an excellent effort from a draft of just five horses.

What can buyers expect from your 2019 MMGC draft? “Plenty of quality.” If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be? “We would loved to have been at Moonee Valley for Winx’s fourth Cox Plate.” Apart from the yearling sale, what do you like most about the Gold Coast? “It is a great time for catch up with family and friends.” What energises you and brings you excitement? “My family.”
