Songkran Water Festival, Thailand
Sixteen top rugby nations duke it out in Singapore in April. Witness thrills, spills and all the action on and off the pitch with the family. Two days of 45 intense match-ups will put the endurance of 16 tenacious rugby teams to the ultimate test, all for the chance to be crowned champion. Diehard fans and supporters turn up in droves to cheer on their gladiators on the arduous road to glory. Afterward, groove to the best beats, eats and drinks at Music After Sevens. Seven-a-side rugby is played at a much faster pace than the conventional 15-a-side game. As fewer players are fielded to cover the 100-metre pitch, they each have to run further.
Songkran, informally called “the Thailand water festival,” is an annual event marking the start of the traditional Thai New Year. Songkran is the largest celebration in Thailand and is notorious as the wildest water fight in the world. Fortunately, getting wet during Songkran coincides with scorching temperatures in April — the hottest month of the year. Songkran is about cleaning, purification, and having a fresh start. Houses are cleaned; Buddha statues are carried through the streets in a procession to be washed with flower-scented water. Elders are honored by respectfully pouring water over their hands.

Cherry Blossom, Japan
Penghu Ocean Fireworks Festival, Taiwan
Famous for its cherry blossoms, Matsumae park has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. Surrounding Matsumae Castle is Matsumae park. The view of historical Matsumae Castle combined with cherry blossoms makes for a beautiful scene that is uniquely Japanese. In Japan, the most common type of cherry blossom is Somei Yoshino (Yoshino cherry). Its flowers are a very pale (almost white) pink. However, Oyamazakura (Sargent’s cherry), with its darker pink blossoms, is more prevalent in Hokkaido.
This festival has become a tradition in Penghu over the last decade. A splendid view at night that everybody eagerly awaits at Penghu in the summer. The main stage is the artistic steel-arch Xiying Rainbow Bridge near the Guanyin Pavilion, and the reflections of the bridge and fireworks across the open ocean water make for an incredible and romantic sight. Some of the fireworks are launched from the sea at the bay area, while others take place in different towns, including Huxi, Xiyu, Wang’an, Baisha, and Qimei. Every year the festival goes bigger, with about 23 firework events altogether. The show takes place twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Kathmandu, Nepal Movie : Everest Photos by jc-gellidon
Malindo Air flies to KATHMANDU 14x weekly.
Kathmandu,Nepal Movie: Everest Inspired by the numerous attempts to climb the Everest, this movie captures the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain. Climbing Mount Everest is no small feat and is one of the ultimate bucket list items for a lot of travellers. But this movie gets you about as close to being there as possible without having to train for one of the greatest physical challenges one can undertake. There are many ways one can get close to the Everest. You can hike up to Everest base camp to view the majestic mountain or take a helicopter ride to the base camp. To get the best view of the Everest is to take a mountain flight from Kathmandu. It is by far the easiest and quickest way to see Everest. It is as simple as arriving in Kathmandu on day one and booking a flight for the next morning. You will be flying right beside the world’s highest peaks including an up close fly-by of Everest. If you have a few days, then consider an overnight stay in Nagarkot or Duhilikel for dramatic sunrise and sunset views
overlooking the Himalayas. It is a short pre-dawn morning hike to one of the hilltops when the entire Himalayan range becomes visible. For trekkers there are virtually unlimited options to view Mount Everest. The first brief views of the world’s tallest mountain appear over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge just after Jorsale on the forested pathway to Namche on the second day of trekking after a flight to Lukla. Yet, it is from the top of Namche Bazaar that you get your first great view of Everest near the fabled Everest View Hotel at 3880m. With a superb panorama of the Khumbu peaks and Everest, this is shortest trek you can do to see the world’s tallest mountain.

Tomb Raider was the first film to be shot in Cambodia since 1964. Plagued by war for decades, Cambodia has overcome its troubled past, and is now a comparatively safe country for visitors. Lara Croft director Simon West chose the country for this very reason—its fresh hope, its recovery and its beauty. Cambodia has preserved its authenticity, mystery and exoticism, making it an incredible cinematic backdrop and a truly amazing country for visitors. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider used these awe-inspiring locations and scenery to wow audiences, from the incredible hilltop temple at Angkor Thom, to the magnificent tree-entwined temple of Ta Prohm. The film contributed to the location’s popularity, as Ta Prohm temple is still commonly referred to as the “tomb raider” temple. Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 km, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. They include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations. For several centuries Angkor, was the centre of the Khmer Kingdom. With impressive monuments, several different ancient urban plans and large water reservoirs, the site is a unique concentration of features testifying to an exceptional civilization. The architecture and layout of the successive capitals bear witness to a high level of social order and ranking within the Khmer Empire. Photo by Ray Rui

Singapore & Malaysia Movie: Crazy Rich Asians
Malindo Air flies to SINAGPORE 28x weekly
Travel search volume for Singapore and Malaysia have seen massive spikes since the release of Hollywood film “Crazy Rich Asians”. It is a romantic comedy about a guy, Nick Young, who brings home his Asian-American girlfriend to be introduced to his family in Singapore. Only then does the girlfriend, Rachel, realise that her boyfriend is a “crazy rich Asian” and has to keep up with all the glitz and glamour. In the movie, Carcosa Seri Negara is the ancestral estate of Eleanor Young at Tyersall Park, but in reality, the twin buildings have an iconic role in Malaysia’s journey to independence. Historically, it was home to Malaya’s first British resident, Frank Swettenham, and later was made into a luxury hotel where Queen Elizabeth II once stayed, and socialites gathered for their popular afternoon high teas. The Kuala Lumpur mansion, located on a hill near the Perdana Botanical Gardens, is currently being transformed into the Asian Heritage Museum. The museum will see a staggering collection of artefacts from China, the Malay Archipelago, and the larger region, including salvaged treasure from sunken ships, drums, keris and swords. Shots of Colin Khoo’s bachelor party in the movie were filmed on Langkawi Island, referred to as “Rawa Island” in the movie. Langkawi is actually a cluster of 99 glorious
islands with beautiful emerald waters, stretches of white sandy beaches and geological formations that are said to be more than half a billion years old. As for the scenes shot in Singapore includes the Raffles hotel where Nick pampers Rachel with a stay at this 19th century property that is luxurious, chic and fit for royalty. You may not be able to fly first class like Nick Young did in the movie, but you can fly into Changi Airport. To quote Rachel Chu, Changi Airport will make you feel like you are at “some upscale tropical resort.” Just like the Merlion, the Marina Bay Sands is one of the most iconic sights of Singapore that cannot be missed. The 55-storey ship-shaped skyscraper offers an amazing bird’s eye view of the man-made wonder that is Singapore’s impressive architecture. The rooftop infinity pool at Sands SkyPark is also the setting for the synchronised swimming scene that takes place in the movie. Meanwhile, the gorgeous 19th century gothic chapel, now known as Chijmes Hall, now acts as an events space. Perhaps the biggest event it’s seen is the filming of Crazy Rich Asians. This is where Colin Khoo and Araminta Lee have their elaborate on-screen wedding. Live it up for yourself by reserving a table at Whitegrass, a Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant.

Malindo Air flies to BALI 14x weekly
James Bond Island is a famous landmark in Phang Nga Bay. It first found its way onto the international tourist map through its starring role in the James Bond movie ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’. A distinctive feature of this famous bay is the number of sheer limestone cliffs that vertically jut out of the emerald-green water. Phang Nga Bay covers an area of 400sqkm and is home to some 100 islands, many of which could feature in The Guinness Book of Records either for their beauty or for their freakish shapes. James Bond Island, with its signature rocky pinnacle, has been a major attraction ever since it featured in the 1974 Bond movie. Luckily it is under national park protection and as a result no boats of any kind are allowed to go too close to the island because of its precarious position – big on the upper part and relatively slim at the bottom. The two best ways to view James Bond Island are from boats or from the small beach on Koh Ping Ghan. Koh Ping Ghan is another sample of how the Mother Nature works her magic. Bali, Indonesia Movie: Eat, Pray, Love
With its picturesque rice paddies and gorgeous beaches, Indonesia’s island of Bali served as the final destination in divorcee Elizabeth Gilbert’s journey of self-discovery in the 2010 film “Eat Pray Love”, based on the memoir of the same name. The movie paints quite a picture of Bali’s most amazing landscapes, from the pristine Padang Padang Beach to the breathtaking rice terrace and monkey forest in Ubud. There is also a scene where Liz visits a traditional healer—an experience worth trying while visiting the island. Do not miss sunset at Pura Luhur Ulu Watu Temple, pictured, on the southern tip of the island - perched precariously atop a sheer cliff face, it is one of the most dramatic temples on the island. Nightly at sunset there is a hypnotic performance of traditional Kecak dance, which tells the Indian story of Ramayana. You should also head to the tiny Gili Meno, where Gilbert ends her book. The Gili Islands are three little droplets of sandy paradise off the northwest coast of Lombok. The biggest, Gili Trawangen, is a backpackers favourite, but Gili Air and Gili Meno, the smallest, offer a peaceful romantic escape.

Our magnificent course is considered among the best that Australia has to offer and has recently been voted 17 in Australia’s Top Public Access Courses. With our stunning links design, four tees on each hole and fourteen holes with oceanfront views, there is no finer championship golf course to play in all of Western Australia than The Cut. The Cut Golf Course is one of the most spectacular golf courses that will test the skill and emotions of those lucky enough to play it. The course opened in 2005, James Wilcher’s layout quickly established itself as the number one golf destination in Western Australia. However, Wilcher could not take all the credit, the forces of nature started work on The Cut 300 million years ago. They left the course with a wild undulating landscape and the most inspiring backdrop imaginable. At The Cut, we have an exclusive feel but a modern, welcoming approach that allows

golfers from all walks of life to experience everything good our game has to offer. Our course is a test of another type. The true links layout is an examination of a dune landscape, costal winds and the challenger’s imagination. To play at The Cut, is to experience golf in its original environment. The cleverly blended design both meets the demands of the modern game whilst presenting an experience akin to that afforded to golfing legends from previous centuries. You do not need to be long off the tee to tame this course. A well placed iron, in many instances, will run past a towering drive. The clockwise outward nine leads you northward atop of the dune. Breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean can distract from the task at hand as you negotiate
the opening holes before heading East towards the Port Bouvard Cut and the holes which carve through the dune valley back to the majestic Clubhouse. The inward nine leads you south, back down the coast via some of the most spectacular holes in Australia. The ever-changing elements ensure that this course constantly provides a new challenge and an unforgettable experience. Our Clubhouse has been designed as a place where members and guests will feel special, whether enjoying a bite to eat, or celebrating an important business decision made on the golf course. The clubhouse has a spacious interior with breathtaking views, complimenting the golf course. For more information, visit www.the-cut.com.au.

Discover Melbourne, Australia
Malindo Air flies to MELBOURNE 7x weekly.
By Lesley Lee
However often you visit Melbourne, it always has more surprises to reveal. The first settlement at the top of Port Phillip Bay in 1837 was briefly named ‘Batmania’ after John Batman. Queen Victoria later named it Melbourne after her Prime Minister, Viscount Melbourne. Appreciating ancient architecture The first sitting of the Australian Parliament was held in Victoria’s Parliament House in 1901. The building is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Visit Parliament House in Spring St, to hear the story of this building’s fascinating history. They are open every Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm, longer if parliament is sitting. The local bluestone was the preferred building material for early public buildings, but it was decided that this was too dark for the new Parliament House. Construction started in 1855, using stone brought from Tasmania. The original design was never finished, though construction continued until 1927. Visit an Art Gallery Visitors are welcome to lie on the floor and admire the stained glass ceiling in the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). They also have a few soft benches for non 18 | M ALIND OM AG | APR IL 2 019
floor-sitters. General entry is free, every day except Christmas Day. We discovered that the building on St Kilda Road is actually the International gallery and there are a number of small gallery spaces up the escalators behind the information desk. The forecourt and the area out the back of the gallery also provide more exhibition space. Don’t forget to look at the Gallery shop with beautiful local souvenirs and books. For Australian artworks, The Ian Potter Centre in the NGV Australia in Federation Square has excellent collections of Indigenous and non-Indigenous art from over 200 years of Australia’s history. Catch a Stage show The East end of the Melbourne Central Business District (CBD) is home to lots of theatres with real live actors. Check out the very Aussie ‘Muriel’s Wedding’ at Her Majesties Theatre in Exhibition St, or go over the road to the Comedy Theatre. The Melbourne International Comedy Festival hits town from 27th Mar - 21st April 2019. We went along to ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ which will be playing a long season at the Princess Theatre in Spring St. It is a fantastic production and well worth getting tickets, even if you never read any of the books or saw the movies.
“Melbourne is not called ‘The Coffee Capital of the World’ for nothing. Little coffee spots are dotted everywhere.”
Voyage / M ELB O UR NE ,
Have your lunch in a park There is only one garden in the whole central grid of the Melbourne CBD. But you cannot turn up with your lunch. It is in the private, ‘Men Only’ Melbourne Club fronting Collins St. You can see the tops of the trees if you walk along the side wall in Ridgway Lane. Instead, take your lunch to the Treasury Gardens which have one side along Spring St and The Fitzroy Gardens on the other side, across Landsdowne Street. If you have been to the Queen Victoria Market, pop along to Flagstaff Park. There’s space to toss a frisbee and food trucks to get a sandwich. Then sit on the grass and enjoy. Go for a walk This is how you can truly discover Melbourne. Even if you have no idea where you are going, you will definitely discover something new and it is hard to get lost once you know the street names and their order. If you have limited time and want to see as much as you can, do what we did and call the people at Hidden Secrets Tours. We went for a wander around the streets of the East End of the CBD with our lovely guide Catherine. We checked out the theatres, stopped for coffee and discovered delicious treats like specialty chocolates and macarons along the
way. Hear the history of the city and all about the Gold Rush and why there is a statue of Sun Yat Sen in Chinatown, in front of the Chinese Museum. Treat your inner foodie Discover new foods in this very cosmopolitan city where cafes and restaurants make their home in some unusual places. We loved Longsong in Little Bourke St, which is homed in an old stable. With so many restaurants to choose along Bourke St, Little Collins St, Chinatown and all along Russell St, they compete on quality. Visitors are spoilt for choice. In the old days of early Melbourne, the lanes behind Lonsdale St were not the place to go if you wanted ‘polite company’. Visit the Little Lon Distilling Co, tucked away in the last single story house in the city’s CBD at 17 Casselden Place. Their signature gins are named after the local ‘lights’ of the old days, each with a fascinating story. Melbourne is not called ‘The Coffee Capital of the World’ for nothing. Little coffee spots are dotted everywhere. The original owner of Pellegrini’s was part of the first wave of Italian migrants who arrived in the 1950s. Their arrival introduced the local populace to good food, good wine and good coffee. Every little

laneway and arcade seems to have a place to refill. Take your cup with you, Melbourne is also the home of the reusable coffee cup. Stroll along the market The Queen Victoria Market stretches two city blocks westwards from the corner of Victoria and Elizabeth Streets. It is a great place to visit for clothes, souvenirs or food and vegetables. Catch a tram along Elizabeth St to the entrance of this Victorian era building. Drop by any day except Monday or Wednesday, 6am - 2pm. Some of the outside shops are open normal shopping hours. Admire the arcades and lanes Like many European cities, Melbourne has some beautiful arcades. These are essentially laneways with skylighted roofs, beautifully tiled floors and even more beautiful storefronts. The Block Arcade, L shaped with two frontages on Collins and Elizabeth Streets, is filled with tearooms and other delights. Another Victorian era arcade is the Royal Arcade, with an entrance on the Bourke St Mall. It is the oldest surviving arcade in Australia, opened in 1870. There is also an entrance on Elizabeth St. They do not open past 8 any evening, so make sure you are there early for a good look around.

If in Doubt, Ask... If you are lost or just need information on where to get a cuppa or when the arcades close, ask one of the City of Melbourne’s City Ambassadors. They are all volunteers and have maps to help you find the places you need. You can find them at the Melbourne Visitor Booth in Bourke Street Mall and the Visitor Hubs at Town Hall and Queen Victoria Market. They are also at the Fitzroy Gardens Visitor Centre near Cook’s parents’ Cottage.

Admire buildings in the park Hop over to the Fitzroy Gardens to visit two cool buildings you should not miss. The Conservatory is an arch shaped glasshouse open every day of the year unless they are changing the displays of plants. The themed displays in peaceful surroundings, are a restful break from the weather outside. Captain Cook is the chap who claimed what is now Australia as Terra nullius (Latin for nobody’s land) in 1770, though there were already many people living there. He never came close to the site of Melbourne,

nor did he ever live in ‘his’ house. Despite this, Cook’s parent house has a prominent place in the Fitzroy Gardens! Still, it is an interesting addition, even just to see how small it is and how low the doors and ceilings are. Catch a tram The Free tram zone in the CBD north of the Yarra River is well served by regular trams. Just hop on and off at the stops. The zone includes all trams within the boundaries of Flinders Street, Spring Street and La Trobe Street. As you approach the end of your free ride, you will hear an announcement advising you to tap your Myki pre-paid travel card if you are leaving the free tram zone. If you want to travel round the outside of the grid, catch the City Circle Tram, Number 35, at the designated stops. The City Circle tram route also includes Docklands and the Marvel Stadium. Experience a sporting event Melbourne plays host to many top sporting events and has the facilities necessary to give the organisers a good start. Most are either close enough to the city to either walk, or jump on a train or tram. The Australian Tennis Open, first race of the F1 calendar, Aussie Rules football, Test cricket and the Melbourne Cup are a few of the sporting events on offer throughout the year.

Langkawi, the Limitless Family Getaway By Zeenee Coogan
SkyBridge and SkyCab
Imagine a lush green tropical island, shrouded in mysterious low-lying clouds, surrounded by a warm turquoise sea. Untouched virgin jungle as far as the eye can see. The thick, salty air gently brushing your cheeks. If it were not for the occasional long boat bouncing across the waves, you could be mistaken for thinking that you have stepped into a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean. Langkawi is an Asian wonder, and while there is no buried treasure, the island teems with an unmatched natural bounty. An oasis for all, Langkawi is packed with activities for the young and old. Comprising 99 islands, Langkawi lies in Andaman Sea, off the coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Its main island, Pulau Langkawi, takes its name from the reddish-brown eagle that has also become the symbol of the island. The archipelago is known for its natural resources. It may be small, but it is packed with all kinds of natural wonders — glorious waterfalls, white beaches, mangrove forests, brackish rivers, limestone cliffs and diverse wildlife. Langkawi is the perfect destination for a family getaway with numerous kidfriendly activities and accommodation, as well as food from around the world. If you are wondering what is there to do on an island besides bumming around on the beach, we give you our pick of the best things to do in Langkawi as a family. Langkawi SkyBridge and SkyCab The Langkawi cable car is the steepest in the world and the longest free span for a mono-cable car. Your journey begins at the Oriental Village at Teluk Burau up to the peak of Gunung Machinchang. The total length is

2.2km (1.4 miles) and it takes about 15 to 20 minutes. At the base, the wait for a cable car is eased by a quick 360-degree movie in the SkyDome. Kids will be thrilled by the air-conditioned dome, focused on the allencompassing 360-degree screen which will send them on a Martian roller coaster ride. Once on top, there are two circular viewing platforms that reveal stunning beach and forest views as far as the eyes can see. You are about 708m above sea level and it is 5°C cooler, so bring a jacket. You can grab a bite at the café or test your nerves on the SkyBridge. Tip: If you are a thrill seeker, opt for the glass-bottom gondola. Trust me, your children’s faces will be plastered to the transparent floor, watching birds in the
treetops and the untouched jungle below. Island Hopping As you step onto the speedboat, prepare yourself for Langkawi’s unique scenery: a collection of islands congregated closely around the main island. Legends passed down from generation to generation enthrall you as you navigate the tranquil waters. Among the popular islands you visit is Pulau Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden). The lake in this island is shaped in the form of a pregnant lady. Rumour has it that the island’s lake, shaped like a pregnant woman, brings fertility to the barren. At this stop, your guide shares the mystical legend behind this rumour. On your ride from one island to another, do not forget to appreciate the spectacular sight of sea eagles hunting for fish in the crystal-

clear water. If you are lucky, see migratory birds flocking in the sky and monkeys eating crabs along the beaches. At Pulau Beras Basah, take a dip in the blue water and work on your tan at the peaceful beaches. Tip: For a more adventurous tour, opt for the jet- ski. And if you are looking for more strenuous water sports in Langkawi for older kids, you can combine the jet- ski tour with kayaking, hiking and paddle boarding. Kilim Geo Park and Mangrove Tour A trip to Langkawi is not complete without a mangrove tour, and these can be taken from either the Tanjung Rhu jetty or the Kilim jetty. For a quieter experience, opt for the Tanjung Rhu jetty. The boat tour will take you past lush mangroves, curious wild monkeys and inside the Crocodile Cave. You will then disembark for a walk through the impressive Bat Cave (Gua Kelawar) filled with hundreds of bats and enjoy lunch at a floating fish farm that rears a host of fishes, including sting rays. Tip: Older kids could consider joining a kayaking tour of the mangroves for even more fun. Rice Paddy Tour At Laman Padi, the vast open complex comprises of number of rice fields, herb gardens and galleries or museums where the process and evolution of rice cultivation and harvesting in Langkawi is exhibited. If you like agro tourism, lush greenery and want to spend some time with the nature and at the same time understand about how rice is cultivated which is the primary product of export for Malaysia, then this will be a great place to visit and spend couple of hours or even more. The highlight of the tour is wading through

the squishy wet mud, pulling out small rice plants and re-planting them in a larger paddy – a perfect recipe for kids who learn with their hands. Towards the end of the tour, children are taught the traditional Malaysian game of “congkak” with marbles. Tip: Use this place as a lunch spot and take a quick walk around the grounds if your kids aren’t too tired. Also, note that the bathroom is a 10-minute walk (with a toddler). So, try to get everyone to go at once. As there are plenty to do in Langkawi, some days are best spent enjoying the waves and sand. The beaches in Langkawi are gorgeous. The sand is clean, the water is clear and often you will find the rainforest comes right down to meet the shore. Accommodation is countless and best chosen based on the kind of beach you would like to live by. If luxury is what you seek, Datai Bay is a pleaser with The Datai and The Andaman available for stay. Or

forget the crowd favourites at Pantai Cenang, Pantai Tengah and Pantai Kok, and opt for the quieter Tanjung Rhu. Located in the northeast of Langkawi Island, this long stretch of white sand is home to both the Tanjung Rhu resort and the Four Seasons Langkawi resort – but it is a public beach, so anyone can rock up for some fun in the sun. The quaint family-run Labu-Labi chalets are also down this stretch. Like in peninsular Malaysia, the roads on Langkawi Island are well-maintained. Some people rent motorbikes or take taxis around the island, but the best way is to rent a car. There are rental agents at every entry point to the island. For a small island, Langkawi has tons to do for all age groups. Whether you want to spend each day relaxing by the beach, or experiencing new things, make the most of your time on Langkawi by exploring the island as much as possible.

Check-In Online Most airlines now have a luggage drop off only section for those who have already checked in online. If you have done all the neccessary online, all you have to do is drop off your bags at the designated lane.
Learn Common Phrases of the Local Language A simple “Please,” “Thank you,” and “I’m sorry” in the local language goes a long way. It is good to be courteous in a local language when visiting a foreign country.
Tips #3 Book Early for Cheap Flights Flights are always the first thing you should book when planning a trip. For the most part, the earlier you book, the better the price you will get. Airfare rarely goes down in price unless there is a sale.
Did You Know? Charles Lindbergh claimed his spot in aviation history when he landed in Paris, France, after a 33.5-hour flight from New York, becoming the first person in the world to complete a solo and nonstop transatlantic flight.
Baroness Raymonde de la Roche was taught to fly by the French aviation pioneer Charles Voisin, and she became the first woman to receive a pilot’s license on March 8, 1910.

Adventure / HI M ALAYA

Sethan: The Adventure Mecca In The Indian Himalayas At nearly 3000m above the sea level in the Himalayas, adventure has a new definition!
The Himalayas, in India, is an appropriate stomping ground for adventure junkies. Its rugged landscapes offer an arena for adventure activities like trekking, motor biking, cycling, skiing, paragliding and bungee jumping. But where every destination excels, and is popular for, one adventure sport in particular, the town of ‘Sethan’, in Hamta Valley, in the Indian Himalayas, is popular for a few things. During the summer months, one can experience trekking and hiking. A popular trek that starts from Sethan is ‘Hamta Pass’ that takes you to an altitude of over 4200m above the sea level. Other than trekking, rock climbing and bouldering can be a great sport, with the rock formation found around Sethan known for being one of the best in the entire Indian Himalayas. In the winter months, when snow takes over the vicinity, and any
movement beyond a few kilometres from Sethan becomes impossible, visitors can enjoy backcountry Skiing and Snowboarding, and thanks to no chairlift, the experience remains more real and exhilarating than one can imagine. The snowfall on the mountain ranges around Sethan varies from year to year, with the average annual snowfall (not well documented) being approximately 9 meters. Other than this, adventure biking is a great sport too, during the dry summer months, offering biking enthusiasts a chance to ride downhill and count nearly 40 hair pin bends in less than 15km distance. Since Sethan is a very small town, housing no more than 20 families in total, the accommodation is fairly limited. As a recommendation, Footloose Camps can be a great place to spend a few nights and experience camping in the great

Health Benefits of Palm Oil
There are other substances in the vegetable oil which also lend a lot of health benefits. Plants contain unique substances, called phytonutrients, which are believed to provide health benefits to us, such as protection from certain diseases while boosting our heart health. Research has uncovered a considerable amount of phytonutrients in palm oil. Crude palm oil is said to be one of the richest natural plant sources of 13 different types of carotenoids, the substances that give palm oil its orangereddish colour. Red palm oil is a rich source of phytonutrients - α- (alpha), β- (beta) and γ- (gamma) carotenoids are converted into vitamin A in the body. Beta carotene can prevent LDL cholesterol – the bad cholesterol – from being oxidised, which, increases the risk of coronary heart disease. Research increasingly suggests that some carotenes may protect from certain cancers, such as breast cancer. Apart from carotene, palm oil is also a rich source of phytonutrients such as phytosterols which are well-known for their ability to help lower the cholesterol levels in our body. They are frequently added to foods traditionally known to be high in fats (such as margarine and butter) to reduce the total cholesterol and bad cholesterol content. Squalene, the substance mostly found in shark liver oil, can also be obtained from plant sources including palm oil. It not only helps to inhibit cholesterol

“Reducing cholesterol levels and providing a boost to heart health” production, thus reducing cholesterol levels and providing a boost to heart health and also helps reduce the risk of certain cancers, such as skin cancer. Phytonutrients found present in small portions in palm oil are phospholipids, coenzyme Q10 and polyphenolics. Phospholipids promote and support better nerve function, improve memory and brain function as we age. They can be useful to pregnant women,
to help support the memory and brain development of the baby. Coenzyme Q10 boosts energy production by the body and protects from cell damage caused by free radicals and other by products of metabolism. Polyphenolics inhibits oxidation of bad cholesterol, thus promoting better heart health. It also protects from cancers such as prostate cancer and breast cancer.
