As the last quarter takes its bow, let us reflect on the milestones in 2016. It was a rewarding end to a wonderful year when we were honoured as Asia Pacific’s Regional Airline of the Year at the CAPA Asia Pacific Aviation Awards of Excellence. The significant recognition is a validation of our team’s dedication towards the company, and concurrently portrays our persistent commitment to our customers. This victory further affirms that we are moving along the right track and motivates our on-going initiatives of creating an accurate structure to compete in all key market segments and achieve sustainable performance in the coming New Year and beyond. The last two quarters saw the rapid expansion of our network with the
addition of several new destinations like Medan, Hanoi, Taipei, Chiang Mai and Phuket. The growth will continue to flourish next year with several other new and exciting destinations beyond the Asian continent. We are continuously researching and studying the market to increase our route frequencies based on demands to better serve global travellers, be it for business or pleasure. Having taken delivery of 16 new aircraft this year, our fleet size has also encouragingly enhanced, making it to 42 aircraft in total. Our first three years has been an outstanding journey and personally, it has been a continuous learning curve for me, and I believe for the Malindo family as well. As we continue to strive with our best efforts, I must take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to my team who has been the backbone of the company and certainly to our customers for your continuous support. I look forward to sharing further success in 2017. Till next month, here is wishing you a pleasant journey with a toast to a Merry Christmas and grand New Year! Chandran Rama Muthy CEO, Malindo Air

ADVENTURE
U
p up and away you fly! In a matter of minutes you will be flying in the air as the Hot Air Balloon slowly ascends to about 500 feet above the ground. Hot air balloons are something special in comparison to other forms of flight. Hot air balloons can drift gracefully above the ground to almost 10,000 feet. Typically, though, most hot air balloon flights are 500 to 2,000 feet above ground where guests can enjoy the peace and tranquility as they float over the tree tops above the beautiful countryside or city landscape. As the balloon rises, your panoramic view is a perspective that one will always cherish for the rest of their life. Unlike many other adventure sports that also deal with heights – like skydiving, paragliding, zip lining or bungee jumping – Hot Air Ballooning does not involve you being suspended in mid-air, does not involve sudden ascent and is usually done in a slow pace with safety the prime concern. In fact, you can fly on these magical parachutes in many parts of the world. Itching to add a hot air balloon adventure to your experience. Look
no further than right here in Putrajaya Malaysia. Myballoon Adventure, is the first company in Malaysia to receive an Air Operating Certificate (AOC) to operate commercial hot air balloon rides. Four hot air balloon enthusiasts determine to make Malaysia the next ballooning destination in South East Asia and show the world, the beauty of Malaysia from above. Back in 1995, the late Captain Khairudin was the first Malaysian balloonist. What started off as a hobby is now a growing interest since the first installation of the annual Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in 2009. His family continues to uphold his work and legacy to grow hot air ballooning industry in Malaysia. The adventure starts at 7am in the morning at Putrajaya whereby guests can watch the pilots flare up the huge balloon full of hot air, which is an experience in itself.
The pilot, Captain Filip Audenaert, from Belgium, has vast experience of flying and has racked up more than 2000 flying hours. It is actually quite safe to fly in a hot air balloon. In ballooning, there is hardly any bad incidents as we maintain it at 500 feet and this is the highest altitude that he goes in Malaysia. Following the flight, passengers will be picked up at the landing spot, given a refreshing cold towels, bottles of mineral water and the traditional, post-flight celebratory balloon fliers’ toast. After which, passengers will be ferried to Cyberview Resort and Spa Hotel in Putrajaya for a buffet breakfast, and at the same time, be presented with a Certificate of Participation. MyBalloon Adventures runs daily flights, and prices start from RM850 per person, that includes the breathtaking 45-minute to one hour sunrise flight with light pre-flight refreshments.

IN-FLIGHT TRAVEL INSURANCE
T
here is a huge difference between packing for a beach vacation and packing for a winter vacation. During summer, your travel bag only needs a few bathing suits, a couple of sarongs and flip flops. However, packing for a winter holiday where you will be dog sledding or snowshoeing is a different kind of story. Winter travel clothes are a lot bulkier and heavier, making it more difficult to fit in a suitcase. Not to mention that you also have to consider packing other winter stuff such as mittens, scarves and hats. Most travelers would not want to travel while carrying around an oversized suitcase. So to make it easier to fit all your personal belongings in a carry on, here are some simple and helpful tips on how to pack for that much awaited winter trip.
TIP 1: Pack outfits that you can mix and match Plan ahead and ensure that every piece you pack goes with as many other pieces as possible. By doing so, you can easily mix and match pieces, giving you more outfit options when you arrive at your destination. You should also select tops and jeans that have neutral base color such as black, white or beige. TIP 2: Wear heavy and bulky attire on the plane To save more space in your luggage, wear your heavy and bulky attire like coat and boot on the plane. You can also wear your scarf as it can serve as your blanket on the plane or in the car. Another tip to keep in mind is to bring a coat that has a bright colour. Remember that wearing a white coat against white snow would not look good in your photos.
TIP 3: Choose attire with light weight fabrics Cashmere fabric is an ideal choice when choosing an attire. This fabric can keep you warm while not occupying too much space in your suitcase.
TIP 4: Create a list A list of what you are going to wear for each day on your vacation will help you avoid bringing outfits that you will not use. You will also help yourself from forgetting accessories that you need to complete your look of the day.
Tip 8: Avoid packing your favorite gear No matter how much you love that dress, if it weighs too much and will half-fill your suitcase, then it is not coming with you. Go for functional clothes rather than your favorites when planning for a winter escapade.
TIP 5: Use vacuum seal bags Vacuum seal bags or compression bags are great space-saving tools. All you have to do is put your clothes in, close the bag and roll the air out. These bags come in different sizes, so even the biggest and bulkiest dresses will surely fit. Some bigger bags need a vacuum cleaner to suck the air out.
Tip 9: Do not forget your toiletries Stock up on moisturiser, body lotion, lip balm and sunscreen to protect your skin from sunburn or dryness. We all know how this season can be harsh on the skin and it would not hurt to be prepared. Bring mini containers of these essentials for spacesaving.
TIP 6: Wear thermal underwear Consider wearing silk or cashmere thermal underwear during your travel. Avoid cotton thermal underwear as it traps moisture and can eventually feel very uncomfortable. With these types of underwear, you will save more space in your bag. You will also need fewer layers to fight the cold. TIP 7: Bring expandable luggage I am sure you have also noticed that your luggage seems to have less space when you are packing at the end of a trip to go home. No need to fret! Bring expandable suitcases and unzip to release the extra space for your extra items.
Tip 10: Bring waterproof shoes or boots You would not want your vacation to be ruined just because you brought the wrong pair of shoes. So before you start packing, consider getting a pair of waterproof shoes or boots. Boots may be heavy and bulky but they are advisable, especially if you are going to be walking in deep snow or slippery city streets. Between fashion and comfort, you should always opt for comfort as wet feet would not help in keeping you warm.

Using a so-called Mechanical Stress-Release Method, the cream, acts on three zones of the face — the forehead, eye area and facial contour to relax your muscles and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. The mask targets the skin’s loss of firmness and elasticity, improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improves radiance and texture by harnessing the power of green banana and lemon thyme. The mauve-hued face cream is safe for use on all types of skin, from dry and sensitive to oily. While it is called a mask, you do not have to rub or wash it off after the recommended 10 minutes unlike some other options. In fact, use it as an overnight treatment in order to reap the full skin-plumping benefits in the morning. It leaves skin soft, plumped and complexion visibly brighter. It is like a good night’s sleep in a jar. Highly recommended for anyone suffering with lack lustre skin. 34 | MALINDOMAG

D
ino Goh, 40, started his career as a Lifestyle Nutritionist by profession for the last 16 years. He provides health tips, healthy eating and healthy diet training and consultation to the public, media, corporate and to schools. He has also authored and published recipe books and appeared on television shows to demonstrate healthy cooking. It all changed seven years ago when Dino became a father. His daughter became the focus of his life and bringing her up became the primary motivation as to how to best educate her. “The best “Nutrient” in life other than food, is education. And this is the only way to shape the young generation’s future. We must focus on educating them not only to survive the future, but make a difference,” says the adoring father. “The mainstream education and parenthood are not good enough. Sometimes it even jeopardises the foundation of a child. They
are not educated to become a robot, but able to think, feel and create. That is why I diversified my work into children education. Dino has been noticing many issues in child education currently starting with the parent themselves. Society is stressing on children’s grades and result and children these days are too attached with the digital gadgets and most of their time is occupied with all kind of tuition, talent classes, holiday classes or day care. “Children these days have no time to play, to think and to create. They are mostly fed with material, but not quality time and love. They do not go outdoor and play. That is why Dino has created a new concept of parenting tour called “Amazing Kids”, where it combines educational learning into travelling. He has worked with tourism bureaus, airlines, travel agencies, media and schools to create a new lifestyle for the public, where children are encouraged to travel with their parents, to explore new learning and experience in their trips. With this idea of parenting, travelling is not about where the destination anymore, it is about why and what is the objective
of travelling and what are the experiential activities involved. Experiential activities create memories, therefore they learn while doing it. Dino designs experiential activities that has moral values to it. For an example, he makes the children work to get their food like taking part in harvesting in order to train their mind and physical. The idea is for them to come out from their comfort zone. This is to connect their inner and outer world. This opens up the children’s mind and connect to the world. They get to be involve with nature preservation, learn to grow food through farming and gardening, help each other and work as a team to produce good result, able to be social and communicate more effectively, have compassion to animals and humanity. Dino believes the real school is out there and not indoor. Anyone interested in taking your kids for the parenting tour can check out www.goldendestinations. com/promotion/gd-amazing-kidsparenting-tour/.

Have Yo u r Say
I want to say a big thank you to Malindo Airways. My husband and I had a flight delay from Penang due to bad weather and we thought there was no way we were going to be able to catch connecting flight from KL to Perth as we only exited plane 5 minutes before flight was due to depart. We were so surprised when a lovely lady (I wish I got her name) was at the gate ready to collect us and ran to catch our flight to Perth. We were so impressed by this service and would like to say thanks to the wonderful lady that helped us and staff that coordinated this.
