When did you start collecting Sindy and why? How do you
find the Sindy collector community? In 2018 I was in the loft
and found my old Sindy's from the 1980's they were very dirty and they were not in a good way! I loved my Sindy's as a child, they all had names and personalities so I set about getting them some new clothes and restoring them. Then I discovered what was on Ebay! I decided to get a new ballerina in the pink outfit as I no longer had mine and it went from there. What is the most prized/treasured piece in your collection? I know it's boring, but Gayle. What is missing from your collection or, what are you lusting after? The blue 1982 skater. My outfit is a repro - this is the doll I most want!! Are you an out-of-the-box or mint-in-box collector? and why? Both. I love a minty in the box doll but like to dress and photograph them as well. What's your favourite Sindy year? and why? 1985. I just love the face, I think I have all the 1985 dolls. Do you have a favourite Sindy/outfit/scenesetter? and why? I love the Sunflower outfit - my Gayle has it on. Do you have a Sindy budget? How do you manage this - as it's so easy to overspend? I fail badly and overspend... sorry!! What’s the best and worst part of collecting Sindy Dolls? The excitement of a new doll arriving and the worst is that the prices are so high now. When I started collecting it was easy to get dolls fairly cheaply.

"I love a minty in the box doll but, I like to dress and photograph them as well." Sally Dixon Any tips for Sindy Collectors? (What to look for, where to look, how to find a bargain etc.) Just don’t give up if you don’t win something, something else will come up. One day I will get the blue skater! Tell us about your Sindy re-rooting business – what you do, price range and how long it takes, how you learnt to do it. Any re-rooting tips? I only do re-roots for people who ask, as I work and have two kids. This means I don’t have masses of time so these days I try not to take too many on, just enough to be manageable. Sometimes, I can do them quickly in a couple of days and sometimes they take ages depending on the hairstyle etc. I enjoyed doing my rainbow ones but they took a while!! I love making my dolls and will continue until I run out of ideas. I have to sell most of them as I have no space now! I will re-root a doll from £35 (the hair

costs £10 - so I don’t make a lot.) If I provide the doll then it's £55. I used to pick up vintage dolls for about a fiver but, now they are almost £20 for an old battered one - it's crazy!! I would never re-root a doll that has good hair that is salvageable, all of my reroots are rescue dolls. The more dolls you do, the easier it gets - so don’t give up if you find the first one tough. before Jane from @stylemysindy talks us through how she revamped a broken hostess trolley into a stylish Art Deco style bar cart. Remove the lids on the top and the door from the front of the hostess trolley. Give the trolley a dry wipe over to remove dust and any surface debris. Use a nail-file or small piece of sandpaper to smooth any sharp plastic edges - like the hinges from the lid. Spray several light coats of primer paint and make sure you let it dry completely between coats to achieve a good, even finish. Once dry have fun and decorate. I used flexible plastic mirrors which I cut to fit the back of the shelves. You could also add them to the top. I stuck these down with glue. Cut and gently curve some thin brass tubing to make a handle and trim the front and edges. Again, use glue too secure. Use craft embellishments to trim the edges and wheels. I sprayed some and painted some with craft paint to finish the cart. If you have a steady hand you could gold paint the Sindy logo too. Make a cocktail to reward your hard work!

Sutton Harbour is home to the National Marine Aquarium, where sharks and rays glide in a deep tank. Also in the harbour are several marinas and a fish market, the Plymouth Fisheries. The Mayflower Steps are where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World in 1620.

PREMIERE SINDY 1985 Sporting another new hairstyle (ash-blonde and side-parted) Premiere Sindy (42016) was a glamorous addition to the 1985 line-up. Although a basic body Sindy, her outfit more than lived up to her title - that being a floor-sweeping glittering striped gold, green and pink pastel ruched gown with a net underskirt. This was complemented with a pink feather boa, elbow length gloves, a double string choker and drop earrings. The hard to find matching semi-circular handbag is a collector's item in itself.
