SINDY 6OTH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION free entry An exhibition to celebrate the Diamond anniversary of Sindy curated by local collectors Karen Colley and Bonita Turner. Chippenham Museum (Chippenham Town Council) 9-10 Market Place, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN15 3HF

SINDY COMES TO TOWN! The celebrations for Sindy’s 60th continue with a special Diamond Anniversary exhibition in the market town of Chippenham in Wiltshire. by Dress Like a Sindy
www.chippenham.gov.uk
“WE JUST WANT TO SHARE OUR LOVE OF SINDY FOR HER 6OTH.”
The Diamond anniversary of Sindy, the doll you love to dress, is coming to town with a bang! OK, maybe not a bang but most definitely with plenty of noise with the opening of a special 12-week exhibition to honour this all-round teenage British doll. The exhibition in question will be hosted by the Chippenham Museum in the market town of North-East Wiltshire from March 30th until May 11th 2024. It has been curated by Sindy collectors Karen Colley, 56 and Bonita Turner, 47 who met through their mutual love of Sindy while working on a small project for Pedigree (the owners of Sindy) and then discovered they actually grew up in the same Wiltshire town proving Sindy sure has a way of bringing people together! Karen continues to live in Chippenham with her two adult children - and, in fact, hosted a Sindy exhibition at the same museum in 2013 for Sindy’s 50th birthday. So, it felt like the perfect
opportunity
to
join
forces
and
showcase Sindy at 60 for a whole new generation of fans - some who may have only just discovered Sindy through the recent Collectors’ and Playline doll ranges. Chippenham Museum & Heritage Centre, 9-10 Market Place, Chippenham, Wiltshire SN15 3HF

The exhibition promises to be very special with Sindy scenes, memorabilia, rare items and, of course, lots of dolls. Bonita, who is also the founding Editor of Mam’selle, said “It’s
Save the Date for the upcoming Sindy 60th Exhibition
going to take a lot of planning and hard work, but Karen and I are so excited to be showcasing our collections and just share our love of Sindy for her 60th.”

Karen said “I can’t believe I’m doing it again! But, I am so thrilled to be doing it with a new Sindy friend by my side. The exhibition for the 50th was amazing - we had some lovely press coverage and I met lots of collectors. We also hosted a special styling competition and craft day.”
She
added,
“I
have
been
slowly
cataloguing my Sindy collection, so it will be easy to find and set up this time. I only live 10 minutes from the museum, so I’m sure I will be

going backwards and forwards to ensure it’s all perfect.” The locality of the museum also appealed to Bonita, who grew up in nearby town Corsham (she now lives in Surrey with her husband and daughter). “Hosting the exhibition here made perfect sense to me - Karen knows the manager really well and we have secured lots of space in the new building next door.” She added, “Also, I can travel ‘home’ and stay with my mum to help ease the weeks running up to opening. As I will be sharing my childhood collection - that my mum faithfully stored in her attic for over 20 years - it also means she can come and see that all that boxing up was worth it!” The new space that Chippenham Museum acquired in mid-2023 will actually be seen by visitors for the first time with the opening of the Sindy Exhibition. And if that isn’t another reason to celebrate, we don’t know what is! >> The Sindy 60th Anniversary Exhibition opens on March 30th 2024, entry is free.
“THE EXHIBITION PROMISES TO BE VERY SPECIAL WITH SINDY SCENES, MEMORABILIA, RARE ITEMS AND, OF COURSE, LOTS OF DOLLS.”

Welcome to Sindy Tutes SOS Sindy Salon, where our team will share two hair tutorials using Dimples wig oil to revive dry and frizzy hair. Hair model Cybil will show you how to bring back that bouncy curl, and fellow hair model Jessica will show you how to go sleek and chic.

Disclaimer: This tutorial is provided solely as a guideline and should be followed at your own risk. The method described here pertains to the processing of dolls' hair and is based on my personal experience. However, I am not an expert or experienced in toy restoration, but rather an enthusiast and collector sharing my own experiences. By proceeding with this tutorial, you acknowledge and agree that I cannot be held liable for any negative consequences that may arise from following the instructions provided. Please exercise discretion and make informed decisions when working with your dolls. - Marie Littlewort
LET’S GET STARTED... Before you spray, it’s a good idea to cover your doll’s face to avoid any marks. Spray the hair generously with the wig oil. Start combing the oil through, using the pin comb or the pet brush.
e r o f e b r i ha
IF SINDY’S HAIR IS REALLY MESSY YOU MAY WANT TO PRE-WASH & DRY OVERNIGHT
CURL POWER... Pick the size of your perm roller remember the thicker the roller the bigger the curl. Take sections of the hair to start rolling. Place sections of hair onto the perming paper and spray with more wig oil. Fold the left and right sides of the paper around the hair shaft. Roll the hair up nice and tightly, then secure the roller with the attached elastic.
SOME HAIR TIPS FROM SINDY TUTES SALON
THE THICKNESS OF THE HAIR SECTION WILL DETERMINE THE TYPE OF CURL: THIN = RINGLET & THICK = WAVE PERMING PAPERS ARE OPTIONAL. I PREFER TO USE THEM AS IT GIVES PROTECTION TO THE ENDS, AND MAKES THE HAIR EASIER TO ROLL. 14 | MAM'SELLE MAGAZINE
The Doll Hair Emporium is a purveyor of the highest quality Nylon and Saran doll hair fibres. Along with industry leading products such as braided hair and Ultra Violet reactive hair. *
www.thedollhairemporium.co.uk ** All our hair comes in 38" (96cm) lengths with different weights available for different project requirements.
KEEP CALM & CURL ON... Cover your doll’s head with perm rollers; mix them up if you want a selection of different sized curls. Leave to stand and allow the wig oil to soak into the hair fibres. The longer you leave the hair to process, the better the results. Check on hair after 24-36 hours.

A FETE
TO REMEMBER! A little Easter story by Jo Chafer @thesindyballetgirl
Once again, Weekender has been working hard in her garden, and for a great cause, sharing the community spirit by volunteering to host the village's annual summer fete.
All entries are now displayed and Weekender is feeling the pressure. As a judge she is bound to upset someone - we know how passionate these gardeners are about their plants and produce.
Weekender need not have worried - there are enough prizes to go around the whole village.
Oh NO!
These two little words seem to have become Weekender's catchphrase. Poor girl, there's always a drama or problem to solve and she better solve this one fast!
Sleepy Time to the rescue, and after moving the mischievous, uninvited guests on, it's time to present the awards...
Oh no! This was going to be too close to call...
Just look at the entries...
Luna and the girls at The Sindy Doll Florist will be thrilled when they see their Spring Daffodils have won best in class!
