‘Coastal Grandmother' was coined by twenty-something TikTok creator Lex Nicoleta to describe a beachy, romantic aesthetic; based on the clean and classic style of middle-aged, wealthier women living in luxurious oceanfront properties.

Meyers movie, often set in the Hamptons: Diane Keaton in ‘Something's Gotta Give’,

Natasha Richardson in ‘The Parent

Trap’, or ‘It’s Complicated’ starring

Meryl Streep. Or Diane Lane in ‘Under

the Tuscan Sun’ and ‘Nights in Rodanthe’.

Coastal grandmother style is all about adopting a slowerpaced, more leisurely lifestyle.

Think trips to the farmers’ market for baguettes, fresh salads and flowers (although a true CG would be clipping hydrangeas and peonies from her garden), snipping fresh herbs from windowsill pots, taking time to enjoy a mid-morning latte and croissant or freshly squeezed lemonade, and owning a collection of Martha Stewart and Ina Garten cookbooks (especially if you have a Nancy Meyers style kitchen to cook in!)

A true Coastal Sofa need a re-fresh? Add slipcovers in white or beige in cotton or linen fabrics.

Pile with oversized throw pillows or use pillow covers in plain, striped or geometric and tile patterns.

Add cosy blankets in coastal hues of the sand, sea and sky. Drape over sofa backs, chair arms, or rolled and stacked in wicker baskets.

Lots of rugs in natural fibres such as sisal, wool or woven cotton.

Long, soft ivory linen curtains preferably billowing in the sea breeze.

LUXURY LOUNGE, 1985 In the mid 80s Sindy's lounge furniture was completely redesigned for a more modern look. The open-weave effect Luxury Chair (44233) came with a lamp and 'glass-topped' coffee table which enabled you to extend the chair into a recliner. Whereas the Luxury Settee (44234) came with a coffee set and two 'glasstopped' coffee tables, which meant the sofa could be converted into a bed/sofa. Ideal for overnight guests. Both pieces came with a stunning reversible red and cherry print seat pads and cushions, offering various looks.
