Secure Corporate and Domestic Storage in Cyprus

C

hange is bound to happen. Renovation, relocation, remodelling. All these rank as one of the most stressful life events. Your life and work are disrupted as you make adjustments and changes to your daily routine. Additionally, organising, packing and keeping track of your belongings is a hassle. Then, once you move, you have to figure out where to put all your items. Luckily, you can take away some of that stress by storing your possessions

2

at Peter Morton Removals storage facilities! At PMR, one of the core values is to make customers life as stress-free as possible. Renovation, Relocation and Remodelling, do not have to be stressful life events. Due to increased demand a few years ago, Peter Morton made a considerable investment and sourced a dedicated, massive storage facility on a 7,500 square meter site. Right now, it is ranked as the largest and safest storage facility in Cyprus. At PMR, the storage crates are made of wood and are 250 cubic ft each in size. The storage facilities are approved by BAR (British Association of Removers) and all crates are manufactured and imported from the UK. It’s easy to store items anywhere, but our warehouse is both convenient and protected. Considering

your belongings’ safety ahead of time will save you the stress of having to replace something later or potentially losing something irreplaceable, expensive or dear to your heart. Additionally, the warehouse itself and all goods that are in the store are fully insured! With the recent increase in Cyprus crime rates, storing valuable goods at home doesn’t seem like a safe option any longer. Unlike houses, storage facilities offer more security to stored items. At Peter Morton Removals, the whole facility is covered by a state-of-the-art security system monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Three freerunning guard dogs also patrol the premises. It is, therefore, wiser to store valuable items in a

storage unit rather than in the garage or basement of our houses. Peter Morton Removals domestic storage crates are all individually numbered. They are loaded on to purposebuilt vehicles and brought to your house, ready to be loaded by the PMR team. Upon loading of each crate, with a full inventory, the doors will be secured. On arrival of the PMR vehicle back at a secure warehouse, your numbered crate will be placed back in its specific row by a forklift. This means your goods are not handled anymore from when collected. The redelivery process works exactly the same but in

reverse. Every crate that arrives at the warehouse is logged on to the computer system. You can access your domestic storage crates at any time by appointment with the office.

of where they going and what conditions they will be stored in. We welcome potential customers to come and view our facility, so you can see for yourself and be confident in your decision to use us.

At PMR, we always suggest to our clients that they come and look at the storage facility. If you want to store your goods, you need to be very sure For more information, please visit their website www.petermortonremoval.com or give them a call on 26923588 - Paphos office or 25722180 - Limassol office.

EVENTS & ENTERTAIN

Tony Brown, owner of Gorilla

Street talks to Lifestyle about his event and entertainment business, providing DJs, sound and lighting and videography and online digital services to a variety of industries. He recently held the pop up music festival from his garden in Kapparis.

D

uring the pandemic, we like most others have struggled to attain any bookings or work due the nature of what we do. A few of my performer friends got together one night and we all decided it would be a great idea to run a mini pop up festival to entertain people at home whilst also trying to raise some small donations from our viewers that could spare a few pennies.

10

Because I dont like to do things by halves, I decided to contact a few friends to help make the event look like a mini festival, We have plenty of sound and lighting and all the tools to create professional broadcasts but to go that extra mile, I asked some good friends of mine at The octagon tavern in Vrysoulles if I could borrow their mobile stage. Also a DJ friend of mine Alex had

some stage truss which really helped us with that festival look. I went to the local police station and got authority from the duty the sergeant to make sure that we were acting in line with COVID regulations. We had several local acts performing such as Amy Winehouse, The Cyprus Blues Brothers, Robbie Williams, The Commitments, Rag N Bone man, Freddie Mercury etc and it was a huge success, We raised 570 Euros which was split between 5 of us so we would really like to thank all of those who donated and helped us pay some of our bills. We would like to make Pop Up Festival Cyprus a regular things and build on it by going mobile and inviting live audiences also so watch this space…….

I am optimistic what this year will bring for us all, so maybe online festivals will be all we are allowed to do for the foreseeable future, so this was a good rehearsal for us. I would love to see some different performers, musicians, a live band and prehaps even a magic / acrobatics show at our next event. Creating memories, Capturing Moments, And Inspiring Others is our motto and we cannot wait to do exactly that, again and again for many years to come.

N EWS Vulnerable groups and over 45’s should receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by the first week of May, the health ministry has announced. 31,623 coronavirus vaccinations had been administered in Cyprus as of the time of the magazine going to print, with scheduled deliveries of some 270,000 vaccines by the end of April. Unveiling an updated delivery schedule, the health ministry is expecting a surge in vaccinations by the first week of May. Despite the reduction in Astra Zeneca shipments throughout the EU, Cyprus expects to take delivery of 270,000 doses of the four licensed vaccines, bringing total deliveries since vaccine shipments first started in late December to 440,000. Based on this delivery schedule, another 195,000 people are expected to receive their first dose by the first week of May. According to the vaccination programme, vulnerable groups and people in the general population aged 45 and over will receive their first dose by then. 12

“The health ministry remains committed to the implementation of the national vaccination plan against Covid-19, depending on vaccine availability. Recognising the vaccination is the

most basic weapon to deal with the health crisis, all citizens are urged to continue to support this national effort, opting to be vaccinated as the means to save lives,” the ministry said in its statements. This will allow a safe return to normality, it added.

INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN

Lifestyle meets personal trainer Justine Traynor, of JusTrayn in Oroklini, who empowers other women to get into shape

I

moved to Cyprus nearly 4 years ago after a lot of debating whether it was the right move to make. Eventually I decided it would definitely be a great place to bring up my children and seemed the right time while they were still young. After having my second child I gained a lot of weight and just didn’t feel happy considering I had just had a beautiful baby girl. I had no emotion and didn’t feel connected to her. At the time I did even notice how I was feeling emotionally as I was just so hung up on

14

how my body looked. Which sounds awful now looking back but I just wasn’t in a very good frame of mind. After six months I decided need to make a change and I started with a personal trainer to get myself feeling good again. I trained with her three times per week and my happiness came back, it was almost like a switch.

Exercise is a passion to me but most importantly it’s my therapy and I couldn’t live without it. I trained to be a trainer after my post pregnancy wobble and I feel so strongly to be able to help other ladies in the same position as I was. After a year of being in Cyprus, I knew I needed to get my focus back and do something as

I was going crazy with nothing to do apart from, gym, coffee and kids. I started to do fitness classes at a local gym which I had really enjoyed and had never even experienced before. I liked them so much I decided to gain more knowledge and train to be a Les Mills instructor for various different styles of training. I then ended up becoming an advanced instructor and performed on stage with the Cyprus team many times at different events. This really set my mind on group fitness and I decided to get a job in a gym teaching. Eventually I took the plunge and opened my own space. In April 2019 my studio in Oroklini opened where I teach groups and personal training. I feel as a woman and a mother of two young ladies its so important to teach them to empower and uplift others around us especially woman and I hope I teach them that through owning my own business that everyone can be successful. Coming from a female dominated family having three sisters you really notice how different experiences in life can shape and mould you as a woman and I feel if you have good support network of women

around you who can relate to experiences the you are never alone. All women should lift each other up and we should stick together always. My greatest achievement to date would definitely be my children, its the most wonderful miracle of life. Although at times it can be a struggle, it is also the most rewarding job of all. Looking after two children and running a business has its challenges as some days I train 3 times so it can be physically and mentally draining. I have a network marketing business I also run along side my studio, the product I have for this business is absolutely amazing. It is a drink that I take once a day and it feeds my body with ketones which lifts me up within 1 hour and gives me the fuel I need to get anything done throughout the day. The benefits are endless with the drink energy is just one, plus I don’t have to do any crazy diets with it in order to sustain a healthy body. I am also hoping to build a team

with me in order to create a network for amazing ladies to earn together and create a community for it. My client base is women although I have had the odd male clients here and there. The reason I like to keep my focus on women is because most gyms are male orientated which can be intimidating so my studio is a safe haven for women to feel comfortable and empowered through fitness together without any worries. To finish I would just like to say if you are or have been thinking about getting into fitness for sure its guaranteed you won’t regret it. I would love to help as many women by sharing my passion with everyone. This isn’t just a job for me it is my whole life, fitness is my saviour. Fitness doesn’t discriminate and neither do I. At Justrayn I am here to help whatever the goal is.

INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN English translator and teacher

Taba Ansr tells her inspirational

story of her journey to settling in Cyprus. Proving that if you desire something strong enough, it will happen “For last three years before I came to Cyprus I was working as an English teacher in Iran. I got a masters degree and I am as always in a hurry to do things so I insisted on being a teacher at the university. I didn’t have a PHD but I really wanted it I was only 24, some of my students were my age. At the same time I was working as a marketing expert in a very huge company plus I was selling bracelets in weekend markets people told me I was crazy but I was doing what I really loved.” I felt like I needed to start a new life and have new experiences, something inside me insisted on following my dream so I quit uni and decided to move to Cyprus. Just like that. I am like a butterfly. So I packed a suitcase and came to Cyprus with nothing and here I am. People come to Cyprus for fun but you have to think what do you want from life? Everything here is slow, people are

16

relaxed and they enjoy their life. No hustle and bustle and too many people. Many people will get bored and think they are wasting their life, but I love it, I have time for a walk, to have mediation and not stuck in traffic for 2 hours everyday my quality of life is amazing here. I am living in the holidays everyday here. I participate in many different festivals to play my instrument (Daf) with many different artists and musicians. Including meditation sessions, dance festivals, drum Circles. I had my own drum Circle events, one at Tree of Life Centre, and one on the beach, which was amazing. I also made my own jewellery with shells and stones and sell them in different festivals along with my Peace and Friendship Bracelets, as

a Persian brand, which is a unique handmade Bracelet, making with love by strong, powerful women who don’t have husband or anyone else to protect them. I am also teaching Greek to Persian speaking people, who cannot go to these governmental Greek school, as they don’t know English and it’s difficult for them to learn Greek at school. I invent (or create) a new way of making Exhibition in Pandemic situation, which was amazing, with many positive feedbacks (referring to what I did at my own place). Teaching is the best. I am trying very hard to learn Greek. My dream is to be a uni teacher again but I have to work hard but I will follow my dream.

BESPOKE MEMORIAL ART

here Angels Tread began with a simple gift idea for my parents. As I child I grew up understanding that, tragically, both my sister and brother has passed away as infants, my parents going through what no parent should, burying their child, not once but twice. It was almost unspoken grief at the time, something which should be hidden away and not talked about in polite company. At 23, I lost my baby son pre-term. Luckily for me, when he died the fantastic medical team taking care of us encouraged me to name him, to talk about him and acknowledge his existence in the world, no matter how brief it had been. To understand his loss was real and the grief I experienced was something to be needed to be recognised. My loss, and my parents need to support me, encouraged them to talk

more of my siblings and, though the very real pain of their loss still lingers, they are very much loved and remembered in my family. I found comfort speaking his name, though I had no physical reminder of him other than a knitted blanket made for me during my pregnancy. So many times when we lose a baby, prior to full term, thorough miscarriage or still birth, or even in the days following their birth, we have nothing to hold and cherish, to show this little life existed and mattered. I decided that a simple piece of art, honouring my child and my siblings would be a beautiful gift for them to bring their memory into my parents home and created the very first print in their names. Seeing the smiles, and cleansing tears, this artwork brought to them, I felt others may benefit from my designs and

Aircraft Maintenance Support Operator in Cyprus

20

So tell me how you got into aviation?

By chance... I was temping for a recruitment company. The recruitment company had an opening at an Aviation Company where I took up my first role in my Aviation Career in the Engine Shop as an admin assistant. I then worked my way through the different roles and levels. Aviation crept in my blood and 18 years later, through the diversity of roles I am still loving the industry.

What is your job title? Currently I am an

Operator, however I have experienced a variety of roles linked to aircraft maintenance of business aircraft.

How did you end up in Cyprus? I received a

job opportunity I could not say no to and the bonus being based in a beautiful country.

What does your day to day role entail?

In a nutshell and very brief my current role entails receiving maintenance requests which occur in Europe, Africa and Asia. We provide support from dispatching engineers to the maintenance location through the process until the maintenance is complete.

How do you find working in a male dominated industry?

Very interesting. To be honest I don't see gender when I have my work hat on as my focus is to work with my team reaching and achieving our common goals which creates success and job satisfaction across board.

What advice do you give to women wanting to get into engineering/aviation? Go for it!!! If this is what your heart desires go for it. You can do anything as long as you have the drive the focus and the support.

What do you love about your job?

The obvious working with aircraft. Yes I am that person that stops and looks up at a passing aircraft. To add; there is not a day that goes by where I stop learning which keeps me on my toes and keeps things interesting. I just love it when enduring though the challenges and then everything comes together and success is met. Self fulfilment is also met and motivation kicks in to continue doing more than my potential.

You are also a Life Coach / NLP Practitioner / TRE® Provider. Tell us about this Caring has been always one of my personality traits and from personal growth and development through the years and through my own journey I came to realise I have a gift to work with people to see and reach their full potential which benefits all aspects in their lives. Make everyday count!!

Where do you find time to fit it all in?

I am a big believer of balance in your own life. I set time as side to schedule and complete time management of my tasks which includes rest. By unpacking all the required tasks and the looking at the priorities makes things easier to tackle than looking at everything as a whole to be completed which can cause unnecessary overwhelm and stress.

What are your aspirations now your in Cyprus? To continue to be successful in my role.

To continue inspiring and impacting the lives of people that I come into contact with and take in the beauty of the surrounds. 21

“Our restaurant, our life’’

Our dream was to one day create good service for tourists that would make their holidays here in Cyprus, even more special. This dream came true in 1989, where we established a small family business in Ayia Napa, a restaurant, as I (Theo) am a trained chef and my brother (Peter) is a trained waiter. Since then we have tried our best to provide as much satisfaction as possible to our customers.

There’s a reason why Flames Restaurant is listed as one of Trip Avisor’s top ten restaurants in Ayia Napa. Dedicated to providing an excellent service, its winning mix of friendly staff, a great atmosphere and delicious food has delighted diners since it was established 1989. If traditional Cypriot dishes are what your after, Flames is the place to go. You’ll find House Specialities, Steak, Grills, Fish, Pasta Vegan and Vegetarian Dishes on the Menu. Not to mention its fabulous Wine list and homemade desserts - all chosen to complement your meal perfectly.

BUSINESS

ELENA JNR. ANDREOU SEO Specialist / Digital Marketing Strategist A pioneer in digital marketing, founder and CEO of Go Digital Globally, Elena Jnr. Andreou has an experience of 18 years in Marketing and later in Digital Marketing with the focus in the last 7 years entirely on SEO. She studied Law and Marketing and later on she specialized in Digital Marketing, SEO and Personal Branding. She continued her specialization in Social Media Analysis through Programming language (R programming and Python) and sentiment analysis, artificial intelligence, Google algorithm and ranking factors.

Lifestyle chats to Elena... What do you think are the main obstacles people face doing business in Cyprus? The vast majority of businesses in Cyprus are micro businesses with 1 to 3 employees and they operate on small budgets. The owners hold responsibility for too many key tasks not being able to focus on the most important tasks like customer acquisition and development of the business.

26

Another big issue is that owners usually create a situation that all decisions pass through their approval (even about things that are not of importance) and

this creates a situation of unnecessary time consuming, employees never get the motivation of taking decisions and the business actually can’t function in their owner absence. What key strategy would you advise for someone launching a business in Cyprus? The first thing that I would recommend is before starting actually the business to search for a clear business model and operations. What I’ve noticed is that most of start-ups and generally businesses start operating without a certain business model or plan. They just start hopping that they will all figure out along the way. What happen is that they don’t have clue that they’ve failed. When you have a plan, as soon as you see the first signs that you are far from the target you start to search for solutions. The second element of the strategy should be a clear customer acquisition process. Businesses need customers. And you can’t just wait that customer will reach you! You need to have a clear idea how

many customers your business need to be profitable and have a plan to reach them. The third vital element of good strategy I think that business owner should shift from the idea of creating an income to building assets and passive income. Does technology scare people? Learning new things is always a bit scary. However with the technology nowadays is not only about learning something new, is about how fast the technology evolves which is so scary many times even for tech people. Just think about: It took almost 2000 years until the 1st industrial revolution, and only 200 years until the second industrial revolution and less than 50 years for the 3rd industrial revolution. The 4th industrial revolution called IOT (Internet of thigs) it took only 20 years. Can you see the huge differences on numbers? Can you see how scary it is?

A LIFESTYLE OF WELLNESS

Dear Reader and Lifestyle lover,

C

ome with me on my journey and celebrate the launch of Peace of Mind Online Wellness Studio: Looking back, I could say that it was the failed marriage or the dream job that didn't live up to my expectations that pushed me onto the journey of self-discovery, but that would not be true. In fact, it was the distant memory at the back of my mind that caused me to stop and think. Was this really it? Is this what life is? I remembered that there was a time when I had hope, I was excited to wake up in the morning and face the day. Where did this feeling go? More than anything I wanted to feel alive again. I remembered clearly what it was like to feel alive. Moreover, I remembered that I believed that when I grow up and become independent I would feel even more alive. I would be free to do what I liked and this was meant to bring me immense joy. Where did I go wrong, why did I not feel this joy?

Shortly after my call out for help to God, the Universe took me on the most fantastic journey back to joy. Safe to say that I am still on this path of selfrealisation and a search of greater embodiment of purpose in joy. 28

Since 2011 I travelled, studied, met incredible people and experienced the magic of being alive. Eventually my journey led me back home. As my kriya yoga teacher said, 'you can't solve problems in London by going to the Himalayas'. This was another loud wake up call. If you think you mastered yourself, spend a week with your family. Thankfully, love always wins. Healing the deepest parts of myself and my life changed not only my life, but also changed me. I think that when you experience something amazing it's human nature to want to share your experience with others. The excitement you carry becomes infections and gives hope. This was why I started to share via teaching. My mission is to inspire you to be your best self. For you to embody your magic in the everyday and be joyful. One to one coaching and mentoring, as well as group workshops and team building events have been a success for me. For this I am eternally grateful. I knew that I wanted to share more. I could see how many people who should have felt good, after all they had what society dictated they needed for happiness, didn't feel good. What was

After all, it's your perspective of the world created by your mind that determines the way you experience life. MUSIC

It’s April…… Let music put some SPRING in your step!

In addition to being an outstanding performer, Constantinos is also a composer, songwriter, singer, guitarist, looping artist and producer. You find yourself asking, what will come next from this humble music magician?!

CONSTANTINOS LEMESIOS Primarily, I describe Constantinos Lemesios as a genuinely lovely man with incredible talent. This musician is Cyprus based and familiar and well respected in and around the local music scene. As an active performer, we have seen him perform in full venues island wide. 30

Presently, his music path leans to progressive rock and electronic sounds, with influences including Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, Pink Floyd…… I can also hear a hint of MUSE in his sound. The new single TOUCH, from his upcoming album was released in January. A combination of looping

and electronic sounds with a mysterious and eerie edge entwined with smooth vocals, which literally send you drifting, filling a musical void. I wait in anticipation and look forward to the album release, as the creativity of this artist is guaranteed authentic and exceptional. It’s definitely worth following Constantinos Lemesios on social media platforms for all upcoming news, music and new album, which can be found on various music platforms.

MASON HILL I recently came across this awesome band by accident, believing that they were probably one of the new wave of Rock bands that are currently trending and emerging from the USA. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this five member band were actually Scottish! MASON HILL’s long awaited debut twelve track album, AGAINST THE WALL, has taken five years to reach our ears, and was released on the 5th March. It exploded onto the Rock charts with such a charge it literally landed in my lap. The album reached number Nineteen in the Official charts and number One in the Rock & Metal charts and has received great acclaim from music critics. It’s one of those albums that is on repeat and planted in your playlist, as if it’s has been there forever. Pre pandemic, the band were active in and around the UK Rock circuit. They have played at UK festivals including Download, Ramblin’ Man and Steel House Festivals and have supported some big artists. They beat 12,000 bands and won the Scottish section of the Surface Festival Competition and were

the winners of the Hard Rock Hell 2016, where they got to play on the main stage. For a new band, it’s a big deal. MASON HILL are currently working to get back on the road to support their album and reconnect with their loyal fans who generously supported a crowd fund that the band set up to produce their long overdue album. The funds exceeded their target beyond their expectations.

high energy tracks to the moving ballads. The great rapport which runs through this band, proves to be a brotherhood resulting in this debut powerhouse. If you like the sounds of Shinedown, Alter Bridge, and even Nickelback, then it’s worth adding to your collection.

AGAINST THE WALL proves to be an energetic Rock debut from these Scotsmen. Its powerful, melodic, full of riffs, and guitar solos, from the

The success of MASON HILL is unfolding before our eyes and they are definitely one to watch……. It’s in their ‘DNA’!!
