I’m Anthony Proctor and I am totally thrilled to have been asked by Lifestyle Monthly to create a monthly theatre column for you to enjoy. I love theatre and I cannot tell you how excited I am now that theatres are back open and performances are once again delighting audiences throughout the Liverpool City Region. I am also delighted to announce that I am the new Theatre Manager of the Epstein Theatre. I follow in the esteemed footsteps of the Crane Brothers and Teresa Collard – the first venue manager of the Neptune Theatre, as well as many other custodians who have had the privilege of leading the team there. We cannot wait to welcome you back to the Epstein Theatre. As one of Liverpool’s cultural gems, we really do have something for everyone. If you enjoy a laugh then we have some of the biggest names in comedy, from hilarious BGT winner Axel Blake 11 March, to the comic genius Mark Watson 16 September and Liverpool’s own Chris McCausland 23 & 24 February whose tickets are selling like hot cakes! So many times when I approach businesses to help them grow, I get the response that they’re either too busy so “don’t need to advertise” or too quiet and will advertise when things pick up. If you’re busy you can’t be complacent and expect your customers to come back, you have to give them a reason to return. What if there’s a slump in the economy? Advertising brings you loyalty. And if you’re quiet then you need to advertise to ensure you’re the first choice for customers to come to. This is the thing about business. mindthatandMcDonalds,workThinknewspapers.courseonrepetitionworkEndgreateradvertisingConsistentensuresbusinesssuccess.of.Ifitdidn’tyouwouldn’tseeofadvertstheTV,radioandofinmagazinesandadvertisingdoesn’t?TellthattoCocaColatheendlessbrandsareetchedinyourasonestochoose.

One-off adverts don’t work, people need reminding. Advertising gives your business brand loyalty and promotes a positive image, giving you greater exposure for you to target your customers. You may have a restaurant that isn’t busy. But you need to advertise regardless, for when your potential customer is looking for somewhere to go out for dinner, you’ll be the first choice they remember. Advertising makes sure that the consumer knows that when they are in need, your business will be there to help them.

A continuous amount of consumers visiting your business is the first step to increase your sales. The more consumers you have, the more business you will have. Advertising creates business now and in the future. Bus gate reintroduced in city centre

CARS are now banned from part of a major road in the heart of Liverpool city centre between 7am and midnight. A trial “bus-gate” was reintroduced on 5 September on the ofStreetcarriagewaywestboundofRanelaghfromthejunctionGreatCharlotteStreet, to improve the flow of public transport for tens of thousands of passengers every day. All traffic – except buses, taxis, private hire vehicles and bikes – will be prohibited from heading into Ranelagh Street and Hanover Street. The Experimental Traffic Order will be in place for up to 18 months, in a bid to help reduce congestion and pollution and improve safety along this key corridor, which connects the city’s Knowledge Quarter to the waterfront. If successful, it will be made permanent.

The measure was previously in place at the end of 2020, but had to be terminated due to technical issues with enforcement cameras. These have now been resolved. Changes are also being made to the existing disabled, taxi and loading areas, building in feedback from the previous bus gate. The bus-gate measure will be enforced using CCTV cameras, with parking bays monitored by Civil Enforcement Officers. Comments, stating the reasons for supporting or objecting to the Experimental Traffic Order, can be made up until 6 March 2023, by emailing gov.ukbeaboutForTM3600A/2052.3447.ref:liverpool.gov.uknevil.basnett@quotingLS/RT/NRB/TRO10227/anyothergeneralqueriesthescheme,emailscansenttoTMRS@liverpool.quoting“Ranelagh Street bus-gate” in the subject Councillorline.Dan Barrington, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, said: “We want to support sustainable transport use by helping bus users, pedestrians and cyclists.

“The benefits of this measure will be considerable in terms of reducing congestion and improving safety in the heart of our city centre, and we have worked with our bus partners and public and private taxi sectors on making sure the design works for them.

So how did you get into music?

thereyouwhynow, didmoveand what is your connection to liverpool? Born and raised in Birmingham, England and now living in Malaga, Spain since October 2020. It’s a no brainier to be honest why I moved here, cheap flights amazing weather & the freedom to start over again from the misery of the pandemic we all experienced back then, My connection to Liverpool comes from being a Liverpool football club supporter but also from co hosting a celebrity fashion show back in March 2017 where I was able to get hold of the cast from ITV2 Ibiza Weekenders to make a appearancesurprisewhich helped gain more publicity for the event which was in aid of a mental health charity called MIND. What's your style of music? So my style of music overall is Pop, however this does tend to vary depending on what beat I’m working with, anything from R&B, Hip Hop, Deep House to Funk all the way to the opposite end of the spectrum of Alternative Rock so I guess you can say I’m quite versatile in that sense! What's the new single about? So the new single is a summer anthem called Touch & Play which has a unique Pop Funk type of vibe

Devries at a Celebrity Bonfire night event hosted in Croydon, London, later that evening I was soon to discover that Antonio was also the father of Leondre Devries who is 1 half of the rap duo Bars and Melody and were also Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2014. It was through working with Antonio that I was able to discover my passion for music creativity as well as collaborating with other talented artists he was managing at the time which helped progress my confidence as an artist and led to my debut single Got Me Feelin back in 2017 which also came with my very 1st official music video featuring a few familiar celebrity faces. So where are you from and where are you living

Love island Villa was just a dream come true, you just get pulled into the game of it all and start to think as the contestants would- you know like looking to see who I could couple up with, well within seconds lol some blonde stunner caught my eye and we were lucky enough to get photographed together as none of the guests or even the contestants were aloud to bring there own phones into

I guess if you add all these bizarre flavours together you get Adam Rose!

I’m not one to plan my future as the old saying goes ‘When a man makes plans God laughs’ but one thing I would like to keep doing is creating songs that hopefully my current & future fans will keep enjoying and appreciating, that for sure would keep a smile on my face & make all my hard work & dedication worth while! and is about newlywed couple who escape to a paradise island having the time of their lives in the summer of passion and fantasy. I think once you hear it you immediately sense the summer romance theme going on which is why I think Touch & Play is so linked with the ITV 2 hit dating show Love island. So how did you get in touch with Love island and what was it like to enter the Villa this series? Well I’ve always been a huge fan of the show & thanks to some exclusive footage of Touch & Play I posted before it’s release date I was contacted on Instagram by an ITV producer who heard my song & saw that I was a fan of the show & asked if I would like to enter the Villa twice as an audience guest on both Love island Aftersun & Love island the finale. At first I was like, hmm well this sounds to good to be true but then I did my research into the producer and saw they were legit and booked my flight to Mallorca immediately, feeling nothing but cloud 9 Enteringexcitement!the

15 ADVANCED SKINCARE AND AESTHETICS

The exercise gadgets will come out the box for a few weeks and then you will use them to dry your clothes on or say they do not work and it is not well made. Exercise is exercise, it is not rocket science and it is simple, you have to make the body move. If you are smiling as you read this my advice is change it up, do a different exercise, sport, gym routine, join a club. Better still go get a personal trainer for a few sessions who will push you over the blip and get you back in the zone. Once you lose it you lose it and you will find yourself sitting watching Tik Tok and Insta exercising your fingers and eyes dipping a chocolate digestive into a cuppa.

To all of you who have already laced up your trainer and are exercising, congratulations but you too are prone to making excuses and regressing. Just by deciding to get active and exercise does not mean you will achieve your goals, do not rush out and buy the latest fitness gadget, only do this when you are past the 3-4 month stage of your journey. The next 6k months will be the toughest.

Remember, exercise is not just for after Christmas it is for life For more details on all my fitness bootcamps and retreats go to: www.papaluckmanfitness.com

Most of all remember how good the feeling is once you have exercised, remember how relaxed you feel, how for the duration you did not think of anything else but putting one leg in front of the other, the weights you are lifting; how good you looked when you caught yourself in the mirror.

16 FITNESS “I won’t be able to make the session today Papa because……….”

“The time on my laptop was set to French time” “Thank you for reminding me but I forgot” (the worst excuse but shows a total lack of mental desire to exercise)

I have had some fantastic excuses over the years from clients who have chosen to reschedule their pre-booked sessions or cancel attending one of my free online sessions that I used to do. So much so that I wanted to share the best ones as it leads to a very important topic of discussion around the mental approach to exercise.

In simple terms if you are searching for an excuse not to exercise then your whole approach to exercise is wrong and you will always have this internal battle. Exercise starts with a positive thought process and determination to get up and go. First of all get your head around and accept that exercise is hard work, result don’t come in the post they take months, it hurts and will always hurt………… ..“no pain no gain” Sometimes the pain is in the mental strength that is required to push you out the door or jump around your living room when all you want to do is relax, not the physical side.

Taking part in regular exercise means that you have to remind yourself every day why you

Now the bad news………only you can do the exercise, only you can make the change, only you can decide to put your trainers on and get a wiggle on.

Keep the focus on making exercise part of your daily routines. The first sign of your regression is when you start to look at buying exercise gadgets, equipment and potions. The biggest excuse is I will do it at home or this will work quicker.

“I am at a BBQ and it is my dad’s fault as he has just poured me another drink”

have chosen to start your exercise journey. You need to be proactive in your planning and set a time in your day when you are in the best mindset. Exercise should be as easy as choosing to have a coffee. Get your gym kit out and ready, protect your time in your diary, tell people what you are going to do. Choose an exercise activity that you like, don’t follow the crowd. Change the type of exercise routine you do regularly from month to month. Some days only plan when you are going to exercise and decide what to do when you have put your trainers on. Prepare your body for exercise, eat the right energy food and keep hydrated, if in doubt have a big glass of water.

What a summer it has been so far! The weather has been amazing and it’s been lovely to see so many people out and about in Liverpool having fun. But now we’re settling into Autumn, can you believe Overit! the summer, however, I launched a brand new women’s network called POW - Power of Women. I devised the idea as a brand in 2019 whilst going through some difficult times in my life. I realised that if I was feeling this way, many other women out there must be going through the same thing. Three years later, I’m excited to have launched my new all women’s network community. I offer amazing events, motivational speakers, FREE monthly network group for all women to meet and connect with. Raise awareness to charities and women who need help. I offer business coaching and lots of other group events covering all aspects women are faced Whetherwith! you are a woman in business, a single mum, a student at university, or an entrepreneur, POW has something that every woman deserves! I also have some exciting news to share. I have been voted as a finalist in the Liverpool Lifestyle awards. OMG! I have never won anything in my life and now I’m a finalist at the most talked about business event in Liverpool. The category I’m in is for BEST INFLUENCER. My work to offer free help for women through POW has been recognised through Liverpool Lifestyle awards. I am truly honoured and grateful to everyone that has voted so far for me. I cannot wait for the big event which takes place on the 8th October at the liner hotel. There are some amazing opportunities for sponsors on the night too, so if you are a business in Liverpool that wants to get their company seen on a bigger scale, you should visit the website.

To celebrate national Friendship Month this month, St Helens & Warrington is holding several inexpensive taster events. These events have been specifically designed to make newcomers feel at ease and give residents the chance to experience the supportive benefits of joining a friendship group. Events include a Friendship Lunch held on 9 September at Hotties Café inside World of Glass starting at 12.15, a Friendship Month Coffee Morning in the same venue on 15 September on 15 September at 10.30 and a Coffee Morning at Rhode Island Coffee situated just outside the Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington on 27 September at 10.30.

The not-for-profit group, which has 305 local members, many older or retired, is becoming increasingly concerned about the impact any reduced social contact could have on people’s mental health and wellbeing, a lesson learnt from the pandemic it Oddfellowssays.

20 NATIONAL FRIENDSHIP MONTH

Branch Secretary, Julie Webster, says they are making extra efforts to ensure residents continue to have access to affordable social events and opportunities to socialise Shelocally.said:

“When you’re stretched financially, you’ve no choice but to look at how you can better budget or where to spend less.

In addition to attending regular social events, members of St Helens and Warrington can access financial benefits and welfare support, with a dedicated care helpline and citizens advice team, and a travel club. Oddfellows membership costs from £25 a year. To register an interest in attending an Oddfellows Friendship Month taster event, or to receive a free local events pack, contact Julie Webster on 07456915655 or email dayFurtherwebster@oddfellows.co.ukjulie.eventandonlineopendetailscanbefoundat www.friendshipmonth.com

“Nobody should be without company if they want it,” added Julie. “If you’re finding it difficult to socialise in later life, or you’d like to build or extend your friendship circle, groups such as ours are a great way to meet likeminded people locally. We’d love to see Researchyou.”recently undertaken by the Oddfellows showed how those aged 60-plus in the UK have on average four close friends, with three percent mentioning that they don’t have any. Nine out of 10 (87 percent) agreed that friends improved the quality of their life. The August 2022 study also revealed how 68 percent of over60s felt they could rely on their friends in times of need, with 65 percent agreeing that friends help them to get through difficult Drtimes.Jennifer Wild, an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at Oxford University and friend of the Oddfellows, describes friends as ‘precious protectors’, and something you can never put a price on. She said: “Friendship is a wonderful thing. Spending time with people who share our values and beliefs can be very motivating, and laughter with friends is proven to improve our mood.“But friendship goes much deeper than that. The support that good friends provides can also be protective. Those with close companions they can lean on in tough times are less likely to suffer from depression. Friends offer perspectives more compassionate than our own, which helps to interrupt self-critical thinking and improve our problem-solving skill set.”

“We want to remind people that socialising doesn’t need to be expensive. We run a variety of events like coffee mornings that cost the price of a cuppa and we love to see our members and anyone who’s interested in making friends. It’s not where you get together that matters, but that you’re just getting together. “We saw the effect spending less time in the company of others had on our members during the pandemic and we need to make sure that as we face another difficult time we stay in touch and support each other.”

As living costs continue to rise, local friendship group, St Helens & Warrington, is urging residents to not cut back on socialising.

As gin aficionados and anyone working in the spirit industry know, the past few years have heralded thousands of new gins on the market. Gin has never been as popular as it is today - at least not on a global scale - and it shows no signs of Forstopping.some of us, a simple G&T may be all you require, for others, the scope of this botanical based spirit leads us to experiment with many more flavours and aromas than we have been used to in the past. Some of this development has resulted in a huge number of exciting gin flavours being offered to the public, but what about creating your own bespoke glass of gin from a bottle of standard London Dry gin?
