PRESIDENT'S LETTER
Hello everyone!
the start of the school year has come and although it does look a little different, our Key Club is still going on strong! We started to have biweekly meetings via Microsoft Teams with our first meeting on August 26. It was so lovely to see all of you guys there because I know that you guys will make this year amazing! This is the start of something wonderful, despite what is happening around us. By overcoming these challenges our club has proved our resilience and commitment to service, find ways to help out the community in a safer manner. I can't wait to see where this leads us! Yours in Service,
Uyen Nguyen

EVERY DAY THOUGHTS By: Jennifer Nguyen, Social Coord.
This year for Key Club, not gonna lie has not been the same as last year. Though lots of things have changed, everyone is trying to stay positive and still work together to have fun. As a social coordinator, it is my job to keep up with all social media as much as I can. Though I blame myself for not keeping it up recently, I am trying to get more involved so I can contribute to the team like everyone else has been. As I started getting back to it, editing, making the covers for the Instagram posts, or creating in general, and putting in and showing my creativity through the covers, I remember why I chose this position. I truly have fun organizing and creating things for things like these. I also appreciate everyone who contributed and help make the process much faster. The whole reason for this club is to work together rather than alone, you get to make new friends have everyone’s opinion on something. I would definitely say our feed or page looks a lot better now. Another thing I would like to talk to mention in this article is volunteering events. I should be able to commit and make time to volunteer since I am an officer, setting an example is crucial, especially with the many newcomers this year. Everyone forgets what they hound key club for, or in
6
general sometimes forget why they joined a certain hobby or started something.
Remembering the importance and the initial purpose you had, and going back to doing the things, I’m sure will give you that sense of love you had for it. I believe I will get the same feeling, as I have been lacking at my part. And seeing the newcomers at every or most volunteering events, makes me feel sort of proud and makes me reminisce about the simple times whenever I went. Though the situation we are in is no excuse, we should make the best of it, and encourage others around us to work hard and have fun while. I am excited for the things that will happen in the future and If I am able to be a part of it. I also hope that I can help them in any way they need, and to become a person they look up to and someone they can talk to comfortably about their problems.

KEY MOMENTS:Â YOUTH IN ALLIES

By: Uyen Nguyen, President
Key Club holds a special place in my heart, as I am able to experience different opportunities and witness the happiness that is created from volunteering services that my club has made and participated in. As president of such an amazing club, I can’t help but feel so joyful to be working with such wonderful people everyday, especially the amazing people of the Mansfield Kiwanis Club. To be able to interact with these people and gain their support and love is an honor. On Friday, November 13th, I was invited to the First Watch Restaurant to receive the Kiwanis Member of the Month for Mansfield Summit High School together with Hannah from Mansfield Legacy. My advisor, Mrs. Berwise had selected me for the award, and had come with me to accept the award. Of course, due to the recent pandemic, everyone there was very cautious and practiced social distancing along with wearing masks throughout our little ceremony. In addition to these safety precautions, only a limited number of people were allowed to come observe the award ceremony. Beforehand, I had filled out paperwork detailing my aspirations for the future, such as future career plans and the college I wanted to attend, which were soon discussed when I went up to the Kiwanis member to receive my award. I got the opportunity to listen to many of the Kiwanin’s stories about their college life and in addition received many career and college advice. I was very happy that I had gotten selected for such an award and was able to build a closer bond

with the Kiwanins at my local Kiwanis Club.
Speaking of being thankful, since the season of Thanksgiving has just passed by the club, there were many events that us key clubbers were able to volunteer at in order to help out people in need. One such event was the “Harvest Celebration Meal Service hosted by Purple Hearts Inc. and promoted by the Mansfield Frontier's Key Club. This short event enlisted the help of us volunteers in order to deliver and hand out thanksgiving meals for the holiday through a COVID safe drive by meal service. I and many others packaged the ingredients into boxes and put those boxes in the cars of the people who came by. It was a fun event, even though the labor was tiring, and I was glad to be able to help out the families that were struggling during this time and were not able to afford enough food to feed their families for the Thanksgiving break.
This month was full of many events that made me look back and be thankful to be able to be a part of such a warm community.
