President's l e t t e r Hi Mansfield Summit Key Clubbers! My name is Patricia Rojas and I am so excited to be your new Club President for the 2018-2019 term! I had the honor of serving on the board last year as Club Editor, and it was truly a life changing experience that I will never forget because it gave me the opportunity to further discover myself and my passion for service! One of the biggest highlights of our month was the 69th Annual T-O District Convention, both the “old” and “new” Key Club Officers were able to attend and I am proud to announce that Mansfield Summit Key Club is ranked 6th among over 300 clubs in our district. I can’t thank all of you enough for your constant participation and support for our club, because we truly couldn’t have accomplished it without y’all! With the amazing Key Club year that we just concluded, the new officers and I are stoked to continue the amazing legacy that is Mansfield Summit, and I absolutely can’t wait for y’all to see all of the amazing plans we have in store! I wish you all the best with finals and AP Tests these next few weeks & I can't wait for the Key Club Grind to be in full swing once summer starts!

DCON is the Texas-Oklahoma District's annual district convention, where Key Clubbers from across both states gather to promote community service, learn about their leadership abilities, and to meet and greet peers who share the same passion to serve their community. Teens dress in their finest attire each day, and may participate in a wide variety of activities, including competitions, games and voting for officers. The most anticipated event, however, is the ceremony where the top clubs are recognized for their astounding achievements and..

WE ranked 6th Overall !

The DCON Experience By: Gavin Wilson, Vice President Well this is it, it's over, after all the anticipation and waiting, DCON has finally come and passed. Though it may be over, we will forever live on with the memories and relationships we created while at this special event. Throughout the convention we had the opportunities to learn and grow as both Key Clubbers and students. We could do this by attending the forums that were offered as well as talking to the hundreds of other key clubbers in attendance. DCON marks the start of the new term for a Key

16

Club year, meaning that throughout all of Texas and Oklahoma, new boards with new officers are starting their term. If any are like me and are a first time officer then they also probably felt a little nervous about these new responsibilities to serve their club. Luckily going to DCON was just what I needed in order to feel more prepared to do my position effectively. By attending forums on duties of the President and Vice President, I learned a lot of valuable insights that I had not known before. Yet some of the most valuable knowledge did not come from the forums, but from the hundreds of officers from all over the T-O district. From them we learned some real stories and problems that we may d

come across. Coming into my term as Vice President I know that I have a lot to live up to. Not only did our club make top 10 in all of Texas and Oklahoma but the previous Vice President, Brianna Dao, won the Outstanding Vice-President Award. At first this seemed a little overwhelming to think about and can cause some very minor stress. However, all of this serves as motivation to work even harder and give back even more than before. I know now more than ever that I must do my best to serve my community. Yet when you really think about it, that’s what DCON is really all about, a reminder that everything we do has a purpose and that we’re always working toward a bigger goal. DCON really puts things in perspective of how big Key Clubs influence is and how when we’re together we can do

something more. All around DCON was an amazing experience and I can not wait until next years DCON.
