Dear Mansfield Summit Key Club members,
The time has come… March was filled with service and happiness that it feels bittersweet. Your current and new board officers will be heading off to Dallas, Texas in a couple of days to the annual Texas-Oklahoma District Convention. Whether we bring anything back or not, I want to let you know that I am extremely proud to have served and lead such an amazing group of people. Within four years of my high school experience, the people I’ve encountered through Key Club helped me develop the everlasting passion to serve and so I thank you. Thank you to all members and supporters of Mansfield Summit Key Club. Thank you for all the kind words and encouragement that people have said to not only me, but also to my board officers – my friends. We couldn’t have done it without your immense love and support. Once the club officers arrive back from Dallas, the 2018-2019 board will be stepping up and I am very excited to see everything that they have to offer. With new and refreshed ideas and goals, please look forward to all the growth and accomplishments they will put forth. With much gratitude and appreciation, I want to leave with a quote that an American singer/actress had once said: “[Being] of service to others is what brings true happiness.” Cheers to the closing of a chapter and an opening of a new beginning!

[ Farewell to the 2 Alice Nguyen President The time is here! The 2017-2018 officer term is coming to an end and although it is saddening, there are many unforgettable memories that I will forever cherish. Within a year of my presidency, I had the opportunity to meet new people outside of my usual circle. I got to befriend many fellow Key Clubbers from all over Division 39 South, which is one of the great benefits of Key Club. Although there were great deals of ups and downs throughout the term, I enjoyed every single moment of my presidency. With the guidance of my peers, school administrators, and advisors, I got to immensely grow and develop into a better leader than I was a year ago. In all honesty, I couldn’t have done anything and everything without the club officers and the supporters of our Key Club. I hope everyone got to partake and witness the tremendous growth the club had over time. Please continue to support Mansfield Summit Key Club and good luck to everyone on the following year!

Anna Tran Secretary The end is near, and I can finally say, it was worth it. Joining Key Club was the best decision that I have ever made in my high school career. Throughout my Key Club journey, my favorite part has got to be the socials. Mansfield Summit Key Club will forever be known for our fun socials ranging from pie-ing each other in the face to having a shaving twister game. Overall, even though key club brought me lots of stress, it also gave me an opportunity to have long lasting friendships and a new outlook on life itself

2017-2018 Board ] Brianna Dao Vice-President I hope that your Key Club year has been filled with joy and memories, just like mine have been! This year, Mansfield Summit Key Club in my opinion, has been the best year thus far. Filled with the plethora of bomb diggity people, active volunteerism, and contributions to our school and community, none of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the strong bond that our club officers and club members have. It’s been an uphill roller coaster and sadly, the downhill ending is quickly approaching. I’m excited to venture into the future to see what our club has to hold and the accomplishments we will make together. Kudos to the 2018-2019 club officers for the upcoming year, you’ll be amazing and I’m ready to see you guys rock my socks off!
Sarah banafe Treasurer I never imagined how much being an officer to Key Club could contribute to my personal growth and involvement in the community. Yet, while I reflect on the past year, I am most proud to remember the accomplishments of my fellow officers and members on how much we have grown together. From smashing pies in our faces, selling lemonade in the boiling summer, to wrapping gifts in the winter, there is no doubt that the greatest part about being in a

[ Farewell to the 2 Arantza zamudio Webmaster This Key Club year has been a mighty roller coaster ride, with all of the emotions one implies. We had our highs, like Alex’s Lemonade Stand and summer Feed The Kids, as well as our memorable socials. We had our lows, such as...well, I suppose we didn’t have many lows. In truth, lows only existed between our most exciting events, but there was always something to keep us busy. Between service events, there were articles to write and, for me, Summit’s Key Club website to tinker with. While every wholehearted word I wrote was meant to capture the flair of my experiences, the depth of the bonds formed with my peers cannot be thoroughly described. They made Key Club unforgettable, embedding fun wherever possible, and helped to strengthen my leadership and confidence as an officer. I can only hope that I left an imprint on others’ hearts as big as they have made on mine. Thank you Key Club for the wild ride, everything we accomplished this year, and I wish the best in success for the 2018-2019 Key Club generation.

2017-2018 Board ] Patricia rojas Editor It's insane for me to think about how fast this year has gone by. For me being the Editor has been extremely fulfilling because I was able to do all the things I love, through the creation of newsletters that showcased all of the accomplishments of the amazing people who make up Mansfield Summit Key Club. Having been elected as an officer has been one of the most life changing events un my life and I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to serve among such a passionate group of teens. And I absoultely can't wait to help better lead the club as president with the help of all the upcomming officers, so I can't wait to see what door this new key club year will open!
bushra khaliq Service Coordinator I am sad to say that my term is ending soon. However, my term was filled with laughs, joy, and lessons. I got closer to people I never expected to meet. The socials we hosted and attended were very fun and taught the importance of the community. We all worked together from different schools to volunteer at Mission Arlington, Rush Creek Food Pantry, and even the Public Library. All of this to better our community and help those in need. I learned the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and communication. Through board meetings, service projects and general meetings I got to work with a great group of people and had a beneficial and great time. Over all, I had a great time a Service Coordinator and hope that the new officers feel the same way with their term to come.

farria shoaib Sophomore Class Rep As the 2017-2018 Key Club year comes to an end it’s time to reflect on the great values it instilled in me. Over the past year Key Club has strengthen my leadership skills and encouraged me to lead my school and those around me. Key Club has given me the opportunity to volunteer and help those in need around my community. Ever Wednesday, weather their was a social or not, assembling with all the key cluberrs within our school their was always fun new memories formed. Although it is a bittersweet feeling that the year has started to come to an end, it is exciting to see the new 2018-2019 Key Club board take over and represent Summit High School.

If I had to sum up my key club year with one word, I would choose memorable. My eyes were open to the behind the scenes of an amazing club. I didn’t realize the intricate web that bonded each and every key club in the district together. More than just volunteering, key club taught me important values and ethics such as honesty and devotion. Many people associate key club with volunteering, I see it as an experience everyone must go through at least once in their lifetime.
alyssa brown Freshmen Class Rep This year opened up a whole new hallway of doors for me, not only pun-wise, but in general. Their are so many things I can do in Key Club that I can do, and this year really showed me all those possibilities. As sad as I am for our seniors to graduate, I’m also very eager to see what next year has behind its door!

OUR DISTRICT GOALS: Mansfield Summit Key Club is a part of the Texas-Oklahoma District and each year our district selects a District Project and a a Governors Project for all the Key Clubbers across Texas and Oklahoma to participate in:
Here are the projects for this year:
GOVERNORS PROJECT
This year our District Governor, Sabrina Palma decided to focus on helping individuals with disabilities. Because there are so many disabilities here are just some general rules for helping the disabled : - Always treat those who have disabilities as equals. - Always ask before you help. - Do not stare.
- Respect and understand confidentiality - Never assume someone does or does not have a disability.
DISTRICT PROJECT
This year's District Project focuses on helping the homeless, and there are several things that you guys as Key Clubbers can do locally to help out! I recommend volunteering at places such as the Arlington Life Center or Mission Arlington, because they focus on helping the homeless community and that would be a great way for you guys to help out with this year's District Project.

VELOPMENT: Every Saturday Summit Key Clubbers attend Allies in Youth Development which is an organization that works to provide orphans in Eastern European countries with the support and necessities to thrive in life. Key Clubbers assist in the packing of boxes for shipment, sorting donations, putting together toiletry kits, candy bags, making birthday cards, or various other tasks.

My Perspective on Key Club By: Alyssa Brown, Freshman Class Representative I’m going to be honest here, when I first joined Key Club, I thought that this would just be another good thing to put on my college application form. Even my first few weeks of being an officer were kind of like that. I didn’t realize all the things that lied behind the big Key Club door. I started developing new friendships with all the other officers that I’d never have otherwise. They all became my family, and I’m extremely lucky to have them. Yes, Key Club is all about volunteering, but the longer you’re in it the
18
more you realize that there’s so much more than volunteering. It’s about building long lasting relationships while helping other people. It’s truly an amazing process, in my opinion. Everything I’ve done this year has been fun because I get to do it with all the friends I’ve made this year. All these people have truly made an impact on me. It’s a great feeling to be walking in the hallway or standing outside and seeing all your Key Club friends and them running up to you and saying hi. And when my friends ask how I know all these people I tell them “join Key Club and they can all be your friends too.” Honestly, I never thought it would be this way. I’m a very shy person and it’s actually a little hard for me to make friends.
But everyone was just so kind and open to me and they really made me feel like I belong, and I do. I want to recreate that experience for everyone and anyone who chooses to join, because everyone deserves a group of friends like the ones I have in Key Club. My vision for Key Club is that it becomes a place where you are able to have a good time and do good with a large group of friends,
because that’s what Key Club should be, right? I want to show everyone that Key Club isn’t boring and hard, like many people assume, but a place full of laughs and cheerfulness. If people were to see things from my perspective, I’m sure they would all join in a heartbeat, and I plan to make that happen, one way or another. That’s all I want for our club.

Mansfield Summit Key Club hosted an end of termsocial in hopes of celebrating all of our accomplishments throughout the 2017-2018 term. Our club spent the afternoon tie-dying shirts while also enjoying some pizza, making it a great way to end the Key Club term!
