letter Helloooo Mansfield Summit Key Clubbers! Since it’s finally being summer the average person would think that all extra curriculars go on hiatus until the fall, however that is CERTAINLY NOT the case for our club! Summer is personally one of my favorite times to go out and volunteer because I get to give all of my attention to service without having to stress about school & I hope the same goes for y’all. With that being said, I need you guys to make sure you are a part of our Remind 101 and or follow us on social media so that you stay up to date with all things Key Club throughout the summer! My fellow officers and I have several ideas in store, ranging from service socials to fundraising events and I can’t wait to see all of your charming faces there :) But, for now lets take a look back at the month of May that was filled with too many Key Club memories to count! Thanks for making my second month in office so amazing! I hope you all have a great summer, make sure to stay safe and HAVE FUN!!!

In Love & Service,

HERE’S TO ENDLESS PASTABILITES! Sharlene Garcia, Reporting Secretary Many of the Key Club members The appetizing chicken mixed along were ready for the summer and to with the pasta itself as it was all approach the next stage of their lives, topped by the perfect amount of and the End of the Year Banquet we seasoning was beyond my satisfaction held was the perfect setting for a for a meal. Everybody dined together, beautiful evening dinner party. The eating each dish provided to them. As I watched the evening fly by full of joy, it was sweet fragrance of the famous Italian cuisine, Olive Garden, that brought not only my stomach to a ravenous state but a particular memory. I reflected on my time with Key Club. From believing Key Club was just another line on my college resume to having it as one of the best things that have happened to me in my life. It left me wondering, “how did it all happen?” Throughout the year, delicious foods all portrayed before I became an officer, I meticulously on the display table. watched how the club works. places and help those in need. They also not only complete the tasks for their duties but help other fellow officers fulfill theirs as well. Their will to serve others inspired me to do the same. Then, when I officially began my work as an officer, I could feel everything my predecessor, Anna Tran, and those before her thought of the immense amount of work. The overwhelming pressure to keep the club going grew heavy on me, but with a couple of helping hands, I knew I wasn’t alone. Not only did my love for service had me going, but it was those around me. I was lucky enough to have amazing friends and Anna herself to be there for me. It was how much they impacted my life whether it was the club or outside the school, and how they did the same with countless more people. That’s

when I realized that this wasn’t just about me. This journey was about the efforts to change everything for the better together. This commemoration of all the hard work and hours everybody had put into not just only Key Club, but to their community and those around them as well. From the volunteering work in the early morning to the late evenings to the nights spent planning for socials and service events, this club, Mansfield Summit Key Club embodies a pure heart of service. The significance of knowing how that one person can make the best of anything, even from nothing at all. They can give back to the community that has given them so much. I can be proud to say that we can all look into thea future with our heads held up high. The gap from becoming the best versions of ourselves doesn’t frighten us, but it inspires us. To this day, I still look back on that moment when I’m just eating the Italian cuisine with friends at Olive Garden as we were all celebrating our newest journey of endless “pastabilities.”

PASSING DOWN THE KEY CLUB PIN Patricia Rojas, President One of the most exciting moments for any Key Club officer would be the annual Pinning and Installation Ceremony. Sure, our terms technically start the second District Convention is over, which means we’ve been “in office” for over a month now, but there is something truly special about being officially installed as a Key Club officer for the new term. This being the beginning of my second year as an officer, I had the honor of both being pinned by my predecessor, as well as pinning my successor and what a bittersweet moment that was. To a non-Key Clubber, our Key Club Pins may seem insignificant, but to me those small pins mean something so much bigger than that. These pins represent all of the hard work that each officer before me put in, in hopes of

16

16

bettering our home club. I had the distinct pleasure of getting passed down the pin of my dear friend and Immediate-Past President, Alice Nguyen, who has most definitely been one of the most amazing

Presidents to have ever run Mansfield Summit Key Club. Under her leadership our club was able to place 6th overall in all of the TexasOklahoma District which means that I have extremely big shoes to fill,

however, as Alice pinned me and whispered inspiring words to me, fulfilling her legacy didn’t seem as difficult as I had once believed. It was that same spark, that Alice ignited in me that I hoped to pass on to my successor, Alyssa Brown who is filling my former position as Bulletin Editor this term. It was that same spark, that Alice ignited in me that I hoped to pass on to my successor, Alyssa Brown who is filling my former position as Bulletin Editor this term. Serving as the Bulletin Editor of my Key Club was certainly an unforgettable experience, from those long nights I spent working on my newsletters to the joy i felt when others complimented my work, thus the position holds a very dear place in my heart. As I pinned Alyssa I felt a little sad at first because I was passing down my legacy, but the sadness only lasted for a 17

short period of time because it was overcome with happiness and excitement, because I know that Alyssa is the most perfectly suited person to succeed me and I am certain that she is capable of being more amazing than I ever was as Editor. My Pinning Ceremony experience was only one of many, but I am certain that all of my fellow Key Clubbers of Division 39 South felt something similar as the former officers passed down their legacy and as the recently installed officers took on their new roles.
