ENCLOSED SPACES • VARIOUS SHADES THE HOSPITAL IS LOCATED AT THE ARRIVAL EDGE OF THE VILLAGE. TOGETHER WITH THE FRONT OF THE LEPROCY HOSPITAL AND THE WATERTOWER ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE IT CREATES A PUBLIC SQUARE TO BE WELL RECEIVED FROM THE TURBULENT CITY OF RAXAUL. ON THE OTHER HAND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SQUARE SEPARATES THE VILLAGE ENTRY SLIGHTLY WHAT PROVIDES A STEADY EVERYDAY LIFE INSIDE. THE DESIGN PROPOSES A STRUCTURE WITH THREE COURTYARDS. THE FIRST ONE IS ALIGNED DIRECTLY TO THE MAIN SQUARE BESIDE THE PUBLIC FACILITIES AND INCLUDES A COVERED WAITING AREA, THE REGISTRATION DESK AND THE INITIAL EXAMINATION. A BIT MORE SEPERATED IS THE SECOND COURTYARD WHICH CONTAINS THE SURGERY AREA. THERE IS SPACE FOR RECOVERING THE EYES AFTER THE OPERATION IN FILTERED DIFFUSE LIGHT. THE THIRD COURTYARD IS THE FINAL POINT OF THE HOUS. THE WARD CONTAINS 40 BEDS FOR EACH 20 MALE AND FEMALE PATIENTS WITH SEPERATE SANITARY ROOMS. ADDITIONALLY, THE WARD PART CAN BE ACHIEVED AS A SECOND CONSTRUCTION STAGE. THE BUILDING STRUCTURE IS A COMMON BRICK CONSTRUCTION WITH DIFFERENT JOINING METHODS. THE EXTERIOR WALLS ARE 40 CM THICK AND HOLLOW BODIED FOR BETTER TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION . THE INTERIOR LOAD BEARING WALLS ARE 25 CM THICK. SPECIAL PARTS ARE PERFORATED FOR AIR VENTILATION AND DIFFUSING THE SUNLIGHT.
