Double Death at Obed Nkosi veld
The community of Ratanda, south of Gauteng in the Sedibeng District, are yet to come to terms with the back-to-back discoveries of two people found dead in an open veld at Obed Nkosi section.

The first instance was when police discovered the body of a deceased man on August 28 next to a sewage pipe.
“She was half-naked wearing only parts of her torn clothes. Her pink underwear and black tight was found estimated 150 meters away from the body,” said Sargent Maluleke.
The victim was found with his cellphone and other items in his possessions, however, the police noticed bruises on his face and head signaling an assault.
The young lady lives in Obed Nkosi section and her family arrived on scene and confirmed that she was last seen on Friday, September 1, with her father.
Ratanda police spokesperson Sargent Moss Maluleke was the on-duty officer when he responded to reports of another deceased person found in the Obed Nkosi open space near the newly developed housing project.
Ratanda Police have opened two murder dockets for investigation.

Meanwhile, ActionSA Lesedi Municipality Regional Chairperson, Webster Kutoane, has called on the South African Police Service to commit all its resources into identifying and arresting whoever is behind the

brutal killings in the Ratanda community. “We call on the the police to act swiftly in arresting the perpetrators of these gruesome murders. We also ask the community to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies, in the event they have any information that could assist in fast-tracking the investigation,” said Kutoane. The party’s Regional Executive Committee will visit the family of the victim to offer support during these trying times. ActionSA will also write a letter to Gauteng Police Commissioner to highlight our concern about these increasing murder rate.
