Cari amici,

nello scrivervi queste poche righe di saluto, non nascondo la mia emozione. Credo non sia difficile comprenderla: in passato, la Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel era sempre stata una certezza, con i suoi 9.000 e più ciclisti pronti a confrontarsi con percorsi adatti a tutte le esigenze e la sua magistrale organizzazione. La pandemia, in questi ultimi 12 mesi, ci ha fatto però scoprire che nulla è scontato: nemmeno lo svolgersi della Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel. La sua edizione 2021 porterà quindi con sé emozioni mai state così vivide. In questo contesto “Ert” – il tema portante di quest’anno – si rivela più che mai azzeccato: in fondo cos’è la vita se non arte? E proprio in questo periodo in cui la sostenibilità ambientale e la tutela del patrimonio naturale stanno finalmente acquisendo peso nel dibattito pubblico e nelle scelte di sviluppo, è bello avere spunti per pensare anche alla natura come a una forma d’arte, da ammirare e da cui trarre ispirazione. Ciò non è però tutto: voglio pensare che l’arte possa vivere anche nella perfezione del gesto sportivo e nella capacità di riuscire a spingersi oltre i limiti dell’immaginazione per raggiungere i propri obiettivi. Sono certo che l’edizione 2021 della mitica Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel saprà mostrarci ancora più nel dettaglio quanto il concetto di Arte sia importante nello sport, come nella vita.

Ringrazio quindi tutti i responsabili, che anche e soprattutto quest’anno sapranno assicurare la sicurezza (anche sanitaria!) della gara e auguro a tutti i partecipanti e ai tanti appassionati che seguiranno con passione le loro imprese sulle due ruote di poter vivere appieno le emozioni di questa competizione. L’Arte, in fondo, deve sapere soprattutto trasmettere questo: emozioni.

while writing these lines, I can not hide my emotions. I think it is not difficult to understand it: in the past, the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel has always been a certainty, with its 9,000 and more cyclists ready to take on the tracks designed for all levels and its excellent organisation. The pandemic, in the last 12 months, made us discover that nothing is taken for granted: not even the unfolding of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel. Its 2021 edition will therefore bring with it emotions that have never been so vivid. In this context “Ert” the main theme of this year – is chosen perfectly well: after all, what is life if not art? It's nice to draw inspiration from nature as an art form we can to admire and glean from right now at a time when environmental sustainability and the protection of the natural landscape are finally gaining traction in the public debate and in developmental choices. But that's not all: I'd like to think that art can also exist in the perfection of the sport and in the ability to push beyond the limits of one's imagination to reach goals. I'm confident that the 2021 edition of the epic Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel will further showcase how important the concept of Art is in sport, as in life.

I therefore thank all the people involved, who also and especially this year will be able to ensure safety (including health safety!) of the race and I wish that the participants and many enthusiasts watching cyclists tackle on two wheels get to fully experience the excitement of this competition. After all, this is what Art is all about: emotions.
