Lieutenant Governor's Greeting
Hey Pandas! I hope school has been going well for all of you! I know the beginning of the year can be stressful, but I'm sure you all are doing great. Since school has started, Key Club is back in full swing!! I look forward to seeing you all more often during the year :) I know you're busy with new schoolwork, but please still try to find time to go to service events. The divisional calendar will be regularly updated by our new Webmaster, Dan Dayot! Just a reminder to club officers, please make sure to always submit your MRFs, and to always submit your FRFs as soon as you hold a fundraiser! I wish you all the best of luck for this school year! To the seniors, good luck with applications! Yours in service, Mara Yella

2017 Fall Rally
Fall Rally was a great way to meet new friends and learn leadership skills while under a professional setting. Workshops allowed me to learn bits of everything, ranging from the power of the members to advertising to how to survive stressful situations. Keynote speakers told unique stories that defines who they are, and how they come to be. It really makes me think about the life of an experienced adult, and the many things that can impact your journey. Finally, the k fair was a simple way to meet new people in a short amount of time. With bursts of icebreakers, I’ve met friends that i would’ve never met otherwise. - Aaron Wu Bronx Science

AUTISM WALKÂ
2018
9. 29. 18
On Sept, 16, 2018, my friends and I volunteered at hosting the Autism Walk at Pier 15 alongside with Bronx Science and Stuyvesant Key Clubbers. Our role was to cheer on the walkers to continue on and navigate them towards the correct pathway. A moment that stood out to me was seeing their faces light up when we rooted on for them. My friends and I were stationed on the corner of Whitehall street. The walkers were generous enough to hand us some of their pom poms for the cheering. We did end up waiting a while since we stationed near the middle towards the end of the course but overall, the job wasn’t too hard to accomplish despite the fact that I don’t usually speak very loudly, making this an experience to work on emphasizing my voice. Something funny that happened was that one of my friends did end up losing her voice temporarily the next morning but regained it soon after during the school day. -Valerie Wong Millennium
On an eventful Sunday of September 23rd, a potato and her acquantance the squid sets out of home at the break of dawn at 7 AM. Why a potato, you ask? Because potatoes are awesome and superior to squids. Continuing on, the potato had a hard time getting up from her couch, making the pair slightly late to their destination at Cadman Plaza Park in Brooklyn. The potato had no clue on how to get to the location, so she followed the squid, who had almost gotten both of them lost. When they had finally arrived at the destination at 8:05 AM, five minutes after their supposed arrival, they signed in with the coordinators and gotten t-shirts. The park was rather desolate at the time due to the early hour, however the atmosphere was lively and in preparation for the upcoming walk. The day was set for The Walk to End Alzheimer’s, one of the world’s largest event whose goal is to raise awareness and funds for Alzeihmer’s care, support, and research. Everyone can participate in the walk, including adults, children, and even dogs! The event also had many tents set up with different activities like face-painting, free Ben and Jerry’s ice cream samples, a photo taking station filled with a variety of different emoji cut-outs, and several other fun entertainments for walkers to enjoy.
The first hour was mostly dedicated to moving supplies to their designated stations. After a while, the stations were mostly set up, and the potato and squid wandered around. During the time that the potato awaited further instructions, conversation was struck between her and some spuds(young potatoes). She made a new young potato circle, whom her potato buddy joined a good thirty minutes late. They took a group picture together to commemorate, and continued to help out afterwards. Arrow signs were put up in several posts along the course of the walk, leaving two volunteers per post to help guide the participants in the right direction. The potato and her potato buddy were left at the second post. Walkers often came up to them to ask for the way to the registration tents, and the two potatoes gladly helped out. The actual walk starched at approximately 11:30 AM, as the crowd tater-totted onto the pathway. The two potatoes shouted on words of encouragement, and were incredulous at the amount of support that the people gave for this cause. Everyone was wearing tshirts, and yes, even the many doges were as well. As the event draws to an end, the potato crew, along with the squid, gathered and marched back together to the event site, ripping the signs down as they do so. They managed to make it back in time for the last of the servings of pancakes, tater tots (no potatoes were harmed in the making or you think-), and eggs. For the last thirty minutes, the crew helped clean up the site, exchanged words of gratitude among the coordinators, and proceeded to leave. Overall, the potato felt very grateful for the opportunity given to help out at this potastic event. She made many new spud friends, enjoyed her very first Key Club event, and even received some free drinks from the kind ladies who were stationed in one of the tents. The walk was a great way to support people with Alhzeimer’s, and the potato would definitely do it again if she had the chance to. On an end note, always remember that potatoes are better (and tastier) than squids! SUPPORT POTATOES AND HELP TO END ALZHEIMER’S!! ! - Sandy Lin Stuyvesant High School
CARTER BURDEN NETWORK MEAL DELIVERY 9.

On September 4th, we had a division service event at the Carter Burden Network. We all met in a room in a church on the upper east side, and waited for the volunteer coordinator to assign our routes. Once everyone arrived and the food was ready, we split into groups of 2-3 and walked around the neighborhood with hot and cold food packs. Personally, I was in a group with Angelo from our school and Gordon from QHSS. It was really fun walking around and delivering the food, especially since all the people we gave the food to seemed very appreciative. While it was hot, we did get brief moments of air conditioning when we went into the apartment buildings Overall, it was a great event, and was very reminiscent of my past weekends at Meals on Heels, so if you missed this event, you could always go to Meals on Heels in the future! - Mara Yella HSMSE
Sakura Park Festival
9. 9. 18
During Sakura Park Festival, we helped set up Sakura Park for the festival, including chairs and tables. During the actual event, we were walking around helping individual stations around the event. We got tickets to buy food from the vendors at the event, which were all really tasty! This was also the first ever event that I went to, which was last year, before freshman year even started :) At the end of the event though, we got poke bowls, which were all delicious :D. One thing I’ll always remember about this event is that it was my first event, and how far I gone since then. -Anthony Lim Bronx Science
