BAD ROMANCE?
Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga have pressed pause on their engagement. The singer has taken to her Instagram to set rumours that they had broken up straight. She has channeled her inner Ross Geller and made sure everyone knows, “We were on a break!” Gaga posted a picture of herself with Kinney alongside the caption, “Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other.” The pair began dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of Gaga’s ‘You and I’ video, they then got engaged on Valentines Day last year after the actor/model proposed with a heart shaped ring. Lets hope these two work things out very soon.
RITA AND LEWIS SPARK ROMANCE RUMOURS
Rita Ora and Lewis Hamilton have been getting rather close of late with reports claiming the pair were cosying up together at a recent party as well as sharing an intimate vacation in Montenegro. While the couple are not actually official yet they attended a glitzy bash at Tape Nightclub in London after the Grand Prix where onlookers claimed they were inseperable. “Rita and Lewis were inseparable at the party. They could not get enough of each other, it was really sweet,” a source said. It comes after a recent video showing the 25 year old singer and 31 year old Formula One champion were cuddling up on the deck of a private house on the River Bojana in Montenegro. Lewis then sprayed Rita with a hose before lifting her up and throwing her in the water. “The couple were clearly enjoying themselves and both had huge grins on their faces,” a holidaymaker claimed. At the time of going to print both reps for Rita and Lewis refused to comment on the status of their relationship although it seems to us the couple appear to be taking it slowly this time following a string of failed relationships… Lewis with long term girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger and Rita with Travis Barker, Rob Kardashian and Calvin Harris.

news KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN PREGNANT AGAIN
THAT WAS QUICK, CALVIN CLAIMS
Calvin Harris is feeling hurt that his former girlfriend Taylor Swift has started a relationship with Brit actor Tom Hiddleston only 2 weeks after their split. Calvin and Taylor dated for 15 months and wedding plans were publicly discussed so understandably the fact that the singer has embarked on a new relationship with 35 year old Avengers actor Hiddleston so quickly has led him to feel a little “miffed” about the whole thing. When Calvin and Taylor separated in July he had claimed their break up was amicable although in recent weeks he has deleted Swift off all his social media accounts. Not so amicable eh Calvin?
Kourtney Kardashian is reportedly five weeks pregnant with her fourth child. But the question on everybody’s minds is – “Who’s the baby daddy?” After splitting with on again, off again lover and father to her current three children Scott Disick a year ago, Kourtney sparked romance rumors with none other than Justin Beiber. The ‘Sorry’ singer posted a photo to Instagram back in December standing seductively over an unidentified woman with the caption ‘Lord knows,’ referencing Disick, aka, ‘The Lord.’ The reality star was then pictured spending the 4th July weekend with Beiber in Miami. “Kourtney has always wanted four kids, but has been adamant about not wanting multiple baby daddies.” An insider told In Touch. The infamous family are never shy from sharing their drama with the world, so hopefully we will find out on an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians very soon. All we know is, get the popcorn ready, because this definitely wont be the last you hear of this story. Jeremy Kyle anyone?
THE WRIGHT WAY
Elliot Wright will be starring in his own six part series, ‘Elliot Wright: Playa in Marbella’ this month. The show is produced by TOWIE creators Lime pictures, and will observe the reality star turned entrepreneur as he juggles his personal and business life running his glamorous high end restaurant Olivia’s. We get to see Elliot playing dad to his two children Elliot and Olivia, whilst getting a first look into Elliot’s relationship with stunning fiancée and hostess, Sadie. How will their relationship cope under the stresses of running their own business? Elliot has high standards and demands 110% from his staff at all times, he’s sacked over 100 staff within the space of a year, so we can tell you know, the show will not be shy of drama. A number of recognisable faces also make an appearance on the show including Suzy White, Lina Hodgkins and Jon Stretton Knowles. The former Life on Marbs stars will be making a cameo in the show, no doubt stirring up some drama, but can Elliot handle the heat? Elliot Wright: Playa in Marbella hits your screens 20th July on ITVBe.
PIPPA MIDDLETON ENGAGED
The Duchess of Cambridge’s sister has announced she is engaged to James Matthews, brother of the infamous playboy and ex Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews. James popped the question to Pippa on a weekend getaway to the Lake District. They plan to marry in a no doubt ridiculously lavish ceremony next year with an impressive Royal guest list.

#PASTELS IN PARADISE
Wherever you might be jetting off to this summer don’t forget this seasons number one essential trend, ‘pastel pool wear’. From shorts to shirts, and trousers to trainers pastel colours are everywhere and are a definite must have to keep you looking and feeling cool in the blazing sun. The pastel trend is perfect for a guy who craves more than just a ‘normal’ wardrobe, perhaps something more ‘trend setting’ than ‘trend stealing’. Retailers are making it easier than ever to pursue this trend by introducing some of the most polished pastels. Pair your pastels with even lighter shades to create a relaxed and carefree look. Mix and match colours which lay at opposite ends of the colour spectrum such as baby blue and delicate yellow, or sorbet pink and mint green, opposite colours will compliment each other and complete your outfit. Pastel pieces in cotton are perfect for the warmer months, although pastels in suede, particularly shoes such as loafers and brogues are great too. Do you dare to add a pop of pastel into your wardrobe?

Our favourite style is an XXL family hammock to fit up to 6 people on. Find our top pick on besthammocks.co.uk priced at €110 to get the whole family involved in the party this summer. When the evening is drawing to a close and it’s getter darker, we recommend keeping the party alive with fairy lights to add a special sparkle to your home pool party. SUMMER VEGETABLE AND GOAT’S CHEESE FRITTATA During the hottest month of the year it is essential to keep dinner light and easy to satisfy your body. This means lots of fresh crisp veggies that can easily be thrown together so you don´t have to spend hours cooking in a hot kitchen. We have hand picked this delicious recipe from Jamie Oliver, as a homemade dish that could pass for a restaurant special… you’re welcome!
INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • •
100 g French beans 6 spring onions 3 sprigs of fresh mint 150 g fresh or defrosted frozen peas or small broad beans, shelled 6 large free-range eggs 1 knob of unsalted butter 40 g goat's cheese Parmesan cheese, for grating
METHOD
1. Preheat your grill to medium, or your oven to 180ºC/gas mark 4.
2. Bring a pan of water to the boil. Trim the ends of the beans and cut them into 3cm lengths. 3. Chop spring onions and mint. 4. Cook the beans in the saucepan of boiling water for 5 minutes, adding the peas or the broad beans for the final 2 minutes of cooking time. Drain all the veg in a colander and set aside. 5. Beat the eggs together with a whisk, then whisk in a pinch of black pepper and most of the chopped mint. 6. Melt the knob of butter in an ovenproof frying pan, add the spring onion and cook gently for about 5 minutes until soft. 7. Add the drained veg to the pan, then pour in the minty egg mixture. Cook for 2 minutes, then very carefully take the pan off the heat. 8. Crumble and grate the two cheeses over the frittata, then grill or bake for 5 to 7 minutes, or until set and golden on top. 9. Scatter over the remaining mint and serve the frittata warm or cold with a green salad.
WINE MATCH Sparkling wines such as Cava and Champagne are a popular choice with eggs and goats cheese as they serve to compliment and bring out the flavours of the dish. We also recommend a crisp white for this summer evening light dish such as Chablis Italian, Soave or the ever popular Gavi di Gavi.

SUICIDE SQUAD
MAJOR LAZER MUSIC IS THE WEAPON
COLLEEN HOOVER - IT ENDS WITH US
Why does it feel so good to be bad? The Suicide Squad will be unleashed in theatres on the 5th of August this year, when you can kick back and marvel at the world’s most dangerous Super Villains. We’re over the nice ones, lets get into the badly behaved! The film captures a journey in which the villains have been provided with the most powerful arsenal and sent on a mission to defeat a U.S. officer. When the squad find out they were not picked to succeed the story questions the outcome of die trying or whether it’s every man for himself. With big names such as Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and Cara Delevingne, there’s no doubt that Warner Bros and director David Ayer have set the bar high with this one! The film itself is based on the DC Comics’ comic book series originally created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru in 1959 so some viewers may recognise it’s plot but with a new modern twist for the big screen. Following on from Dead Pool, which was released earlier this year, it is safe to say this year the villains are taking over! Packed full of action to thrill your summer, this one’s definitely on our summer blockbuster list! Taking to Twitter, a few of those lucky enough to have seen the advanced screenings of Suicide Squad have shared their thoughts, and it seems to be all pretty positive. Some are calling it “mind-blowing,” while others are hailing Ayer as a "genius". If this is the case this is certainly not one to be missed this summer, especially considering the A list cast. ROCKS RATING:
Major Lazer never fails to bring the party to life with his amazing club beats and this upcoming album has some big collaborations on the way, including names such as Gwen Stefani, The Weekend, Sia, Justin Bieber and Travi$ Scott. Diplo has confessed that he’s going away from the mainstream and that his songs are not part of todays typical pop production. He says “I think a lot of people are gravitating toward that, and those records are getting the love.” He definitely knows how to get his fans going and we are more than excited to get our hands on it! It has been described as an album with more well-written songs with great production than the world can understand and some sort of follow on from their previous hit album ‘Peace Is the Mission’, after the ground breaking success they have had so far, that’s definitely music to our ears. The group have been working super hard on back-to-back albums from 2015-2016. ‘Peace Is The Mission’ did extremely well as well as the huge hit ‘Lean On,’ fuelling Diplo & co to take advantage of the hype and launch the new album soon after. Just to keep everyone on suspense, Diplo has been updating all of his fans on Twitter with snippets and Instagram posts of him hard at work with collaborating artists. We can’t wait for this new album to accompany our summer and send it off with a bang. ROCKS RATING:
A new novel from the beloved no.1 New York Times bestselling author, Colleen Hoover is teaching us this summer that it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most. It Ends With Us is a book about a woman called Lily who works hard for the life she wants. However when she starts falling for Ryle, a neurosurgeon, she feels everything is too good to be true. An old flame from her past reappears and threatens the relationship she has built with Ryle. Lily has to make some tough choices as the story reveals an unforgettable love that comes at the ultimate price. Lily is an easily relatable character who hooks you into the book right at the very start. Readers will see the world through a broken woman’s eyes who continues to push through. The book is written in an adorable journal style to personalise her story, making readers really think about what she is saying. The tale is funny, romantic and emotional and with that, very difficult to put down! Critics have said “you’ll be smiling through your tears” and that the story displays “riveting drama and painful truths” and we don’t doubt Hoover’s talents for a second follow up novel soon! Hoover reminds her readers that love is a fragile thing, built from courage hope and tears. ROCKS RATING:

JP Lifestyle, the new Sotogrande based event management company, has launched here on the coast providing corporate events, exclusive private events and a high quality golf service. Marbella Rocks caught up with director Jean-Paul Piejde to find out all about his burgeoning business and plans for the future. What is lifestyle management for you and your company? Basically it is being able to provide a huge variety of services to fit my client’s requests and preferences. For example, car rentals, planning the ultimate nights out, parties, fashion shows and business events. I also manage exclusive golf trips to the Costa del Sol and organise holidays here, to ensure they have the best experience. What would you say is a big aspect of the job? Since I work on the Costa del Sol a main focus is on hosting private and business events. I host my own events and specific ones for customers. My job is to provide what my customers want. If they want a black tie event with fireworks, crazy shows, champagne sprays, basically whatever they can think of I will organise this for them.
30 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 23
What was the most recent event you hosted? My last event was at Finca Cortesin beach club, this was a private event for my current clients, to explain my company and plans for the future. It started with a fashion show with the Rosato Collection. This was accompanied with a selection of beverages; from cocktails to champagne. Dinner was cooked by the chefs on display, followed by my presentation on the company. The feedback from the event was very good, everyone enjoyed themselves and I was complimented on perfect organisation. What is your main priority? I dedicate myself to giving my clients the best possible experience ever. This means that when I am hosting an event for a specific client I will focus on what they want. For some recent customers, for example, I provided helicopters and limos for their journeys, arranged their meals and then the nights out and various other aspects of their holiday.
news What do you think has attracted your current clients and kept them returning? I attract clients with precision and quality. I’ve been complimented on my organisation skills and reliability. I also have strict confidentiality policies, to show that my customers will fully trust me and the company. Do you have any special service for your clients? I hold a VIP card system, for my VIP clientele where they can use it to pay in a variety of restaurants, bars, shops that will give them discounts. It also contains a QR code that you can scan with your phone to provide a list of all the venues the card works with. The venues I have chosen are only of the best standard and quality. This is available for any of my VIP clients. The card is engraved personally to have their name on. What makes your company different from other lifestyle management companies? What makes me different to others is that I am hosting events for the whole year. Most venues and companies around the Costa del Sol area are seasonal, in that they are mainly active during summer. I will focus on giving my clients the best experience all year round. I am busy throughout the whole year. My strength is professionalism, good organisation, reliability and pure discretion. Why did you decide to start the company? I used to be a professional golf player where I would have loads of international players on holiday come and ask me about where were good places to eat and go out. It made me realise there was nothing out here that provided that sort of service and there was a huge gap in the market for this sort of thing.

FAMOUS ART CONSULTANT CORINNE LEWIN OPENS HER VERY FIRST GALLERY ‘ATRIUM’ ON MARBELLA’S AVENIDA RICARDO SORIANO.
B
eing an avid lover of art, I was very excited to have the opportunity of interviewing Corinne Lewin within the enclave of her inaugural gallery. On entering the fine art establishment I was quite literally awe-struck. It is magnificent especially with their first exhibition which opened on the 24th May presenting exclusive works of Karl Lagasse; highly acclaimed for sculpting the bronze dollar - the centre piece in the Atrium Gallery. Indeed Karl Lagasse is a world renowned artist. This has been endorsed when the French President admired his dollar at the Grand Palais Exhibition in Paris and he customised a car for motor-racing giant Maserati. He is also on the top of the list for American art-buyers who simply love his work - after all the dollar is king is it not? Corinne is highly respected throughout the art world and here in Marbella she was honoured to have the Mayor of Marbella Jose Bernal officially cutting the red ribbon to announce the opening of The Atrium Gallery in May. Now it was time for the interview to begin, although it was tempting just to sit and gaze quietly at the stunning works of art surrounding me, I had to avoid temptation and interview the great lady, which I had been looking forward to for the past week.
Corinne, you are very famous in the art world. Where and how did your passion for art begin?
This is very simple, my father and mother are antique art dealers therefore from an early stage I was in contact with art in all its forms.
How have you achieved such a famous reputation?
I haven’t, the media did; this is probably due to the quality of carefully chosen artists. Current artists she represents include not only Karl Lagasse but Le Rigoleur, Leyton Curro, Ana Tonica and Lala Van Der Veken, the first artist to bring bling to the Costa del Sol; her style being chic pop art. She has also just signed up three new artists, Martin X, Marc Boffin and Javier Infantes.
You have worked as a consultant to many art dealers in Monaco where you are a citizen and in Paris and the USA where your parents live. Please can you tell me some of the ones you have worked for?
In the USA I have worked with people in New York, Los Angeles and Miami. However I cannot name anyone

because the confidentiality of our agreements and to protect their privacy.
You are a woman of many talents as you also write scripts for television series. How did you start in this industry and which television programmes have you written scripts for?
This is an easy one, my husband has strong ties with American studios like Paramount and MGM. I have an agent in Paris who deals with this.
Back to the present day, you have now taken a change of direction from art consultancy to open your first gallery here in Marbella. Why did you choose Marbella rather than other renowned cities such as London, Paris or New York?
London, New York, Paris and Tokyo are obvious choices, but if you look at the market more closely most of the people, the people who count as art buyers, have a property in Marbella or in and around the region of Andalucía, I am just filling a gap. Marbella is the junction of many positive energies.
It is called Atrium Gallery. Please can you define why you came up with that name?
Atrium is an open-roofed entrance hall or central court in an ancient Roman house. A place which the Romans used to gather before entering places that exude austerity. That is exactly why I want people to gather in my gallery, hence the name Atrium.
What sets your gallery apart from others here on the coast?
The concept in itself is different. The approach is illogical; people love it. All the galleries are beautiful in Marbella but mine has a different vibe.
You state that you bring the artists to client’s homes. Please can you elaborate further on this?
It is a different concept entirely. For instance in this gallery you can show different artists and styles but if you are interested in one particular artist, he or she can create an exclusively commissioned work of art for you. For example one of our clients who has a house in Dubai wanted to have a window, door and table designed by one our artists and they flew in to create them. For me it is very important that people can live their life through

features their passion for art. I would also like to emphasise that it is an open gallery for everybody to relish the art, for instance not only for the collectors or the buyers. When I worked in Monte Carlo I was an intermediary person between the artists and the buyers. For this reason she has many contacts and ultimate trust in this area. “In a nutshell just ask me what you want and which artist and he will present and leave his art in your place. Bringing the works of art to the client’s home enables the creation to develop and create a new life within the interior or exterior of the home”.
What other exhibitions have you got coming up in the next twelve months?
Following Nicholas Ducasse’s visit from Bel-Air Fine Art Gallery in Switzerland, the Atrium Gallery will be present with artworks as a partner for the grand opening of their new Bel-Air Fine Art gallery in Puerto Banús, Marbella on the 23rd July 2016. There are few more but please allow me to create the surprise in the coming months. You won’t be disappointed.
You are a mother of four. How do you manage to juggle family life with your professional career?
Yes 4 in all but three of these are grown adults and the junior is now 15 so it leaves me plenty of time for my career.
Apart from opening your very first gallery here, what would you say have been the main highlights of your career?
I was a consultant to many art dealers; the highlight is the learning knowledge of the trade itself. I have some challenges to come in the next few months and some new adventures.
I gather you have just become the ‘godmother’ of the famous band Wu Tang Clan. Please tell me all about this and when you are bringing them to Marbella?
We will organise the ‘Made in Wu Tang’ exhibition next year in 2017. It will take place in Paris, Brussels and London and we are still negotiating to bring this fabulous event to Monaco and Marbella. This is the first time a hip hop band will have the honour of being represented by an art and design exhibition. Mook, the Wu Tang Management CEO and Olivier N'Guessan and Antoine Mickael Boua of Trendeez Consulting are the international
curators with the support of the event and I am the godmother! The audience will discover a lot of unique pieces and creations with the ‘Made in Wu Tang’ exhibition. This will be a big surprise for all the people who love rap or to discover the music of The Wu Tang Clan and will be enlightened with their positive image and attitude of rap music.
I understand that a man you have known for many years, Marc Couvreux, has been prominent in your career.
When I was unknown I collaborated with Marc on movies and a series in France and a few in the industry used those ideas. It was a great experience. Since that time he still works with me on different projects. Most of them are on the development of my vision on movies and television series, but now I want to them to be produced with my name and my ideas. Mark is now retired, he is not famous at the moment but he soon will be, as he is writing a great deal for our movies and has some others to finish. As soon as we can tell you more we will!
Finally what other plans have you got for 2016?
Well Annabel as you know a couple of events a year is already plenty and we cannot bite off more than we can chew. There are many projects; my gallery and the artist Karl Lagasse, The Wu Tang Clan among many others. Also I will soon be signed up for a movie I wrote with Marc, so I will sleep less and to be honest I feel I am already in 2017. Corinne´s parting comment, was: “I would like to send a message to the world. I want to mix art with rap music”. Well on that note, I leave the gallery as awe-struck as when I arrived. I thought I was interviewing a renowned art consultant and new owner of a gallery which I have done but never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would achieve a world exclusive of her collaboration with The Wu Tang Clan, let alone an insight into Corinne becoming a major movie writer about to sign on the dotted line for a Hollywood blockbuster. Watch this space. You heard it first in the August edition of Marbella Rocks. Always one step ahead in the highly competitive media industry.

Sun, sea, luxury. Living out here in the sun is what so many people dream of. Your summer months are guaranteed to be jam packed with guests…. in-laws, cousins, step brothers… mothers! You name them - they all expect their turn at Hotel Marbella, aka your house. But don’t get me wrong, we do all miss them greatly during the rest of the year, and are more than happy to have them to stay during summer. There’s just a few things I think we could all get off our chest about the horror of having guests!
D
ay in, day out of emptying the rather large bag of washing that contains unfamiliar clothing items, which quite frankly you do not want to touch. Then putting them in the machine, hanging them on the line and repeat…repeat…REPEAT. And yes I do sound petty, but when you’re down to your 3rd set of guests, 150th wash and your SIXTH extra-large pack of Persil Super Stains you are entitled to complain!
This question means she has presumed you have pre-planned the meal, gone shopping and will have it prepared for when she is hungry. This is assumed for all meals, everyday AND for the whole trip. Looking at the math: sometimes adding guests to the usual amount of mouths, you can end up with 6 or more mouths to feed. The shopping prices go up considerably and time spent slaving in the kitchen
increases, but it is all part of the happy clappy service… Now you’ve cleaned their sheets, cooked for them, cleaned their plates. Successfully become their maid and chef. So why stop there? As everyday no doubt they will ask you whether they can wear a skirt today? Is there any point putting on a bikini on? Will the water be warm? Obviously all Marbella residents are experienced weather reporters,
And then the washing line, it always seems to be the hottest part of the house. The decision to place it there had been made to quicken clothes drying time. But you are regretting this decision as your now dripping in sweat whilst hanging up an unfamiliar pair of men’s underwear. Don’t worry though, because as you turn the corner your step mother is laying on a lounger with a drink in her hand, doing enough relaxing for the two of you. She’s got it covered. “Darling, what is for lunch?” she calls from the lounger.

so these questions are totally understandable...? TIP: in response to their weather service demands, reply by suggesting they look at their own weather app. But these are just the typical strains of guest visits. Again don’t get me wrong if you are a guest reading this, we do think you’re worth every second… We asked a couple of Marbella
residents about their guest experiences. And throughout the years we’ve encountered a lot of complaints: “My friend came to stay and brought her 3 kids, only problem was they were on school holidays and my 2 kids were not. She decided to get drunk most nights and I was left getting my 2 kids up and ready for school and her 3 kids ready, fed and bathed, while she laid in every morning. Never again!” Sally Hawkins, 34.

“We are in Mercadona and my guests just start piling item on item into the shopping cart. We are talking like a whole two baskets more of things. We get to the check out and they just stand there expecting me to pay it all, not a wallet in sight. So I paid, reluctantly. Then when we got home they took all ‘their’ stuff into their room and put it in their cupboards. Like they were hiding it from the rest of us!” – Susan Berk, 25. “I had my mother in law over and she asked me if I wanted a gin and tonic. I didn’t want one and said no. She was like ‘oh but darling I really wanted one, so could you make me one’. So I had to go and make her one. I just don’t get why after a week of living with me she wouldn’t just make her own.” – Amelia Jenkins, 34.

Spring / Summer 2016
Fashion Trends Key trends for summer include slip dresses, stripes, chokers, sequins, embroidered items and flared crops. When you are in your 20s you have to take advantage of your fabulous figure and your active life, don’t be afraid to try something that is a little more daring and step away from your comfort zone. The key trends for this season will allow you to dress for your shape and maintain your youth. In terms of footwear this season if you are in your 20s it is key to wear smaller heels, they add a dainty touch of femininity to boyfriend jeans and flared crops. You can easily pull off these key trends as the versatility of these garments allows you to style your outfits in more ways than one.
r u o Y In
STRIPES Stripes are bold, bright and playful, they are the best attribute to any outfit! From shoes to dresses stripes can make any outfit more stylish and it looks great with anything. Being in your 20s you can wear horizontal, vertical on ribbed jerseys or silk tops for both day and night and looks great with layering.
SLIP DRESSES Slip dresses are the new statement piece on the catwalk this season. In your 20s you can pull off this look, the garment pushes sexiness and despite the fabric used the slip dress can multitask which represent both sexuality and rebellion at the same time. The style of these dresses have shot straight back into fashion this season. This dress has a natural look, the trim of lace accentuates your figure and pushes all the style boundaries.
20’s
CHOKERS Choker necklaces are in, anything from a ribbon to metallic hardware. The new trend sweeping the young generation is the SRS choker (available in River Island and Reiss), this is a thin black velvet strip accompanied by a pendant, and it looks fantastic paired with skinny jeans and a crop top but opt for small beads with dresses and playsuits. This simple accessory really makes a difference to any outfit but don’t team them up with large earrings.

features SEQUINS The summer season is the best excuse to add some sparkle to your wardrobe. Pair a sequin top with your jeans for added glitz. This trend is perfect for adding a statement piece to your outfit, it’s not too over the top and while you are in your 20s you need to be looking effortlessly cool.
EMBROIDERED ITEMS Artisanal items resemble the renaissance trend and come in rich fabrics and complex prints with details. The trend uses a mix of bright colours with neutrals and being young you can pull off elements such as 3D florals. Key items such as the embellished boxy top looks great paired with the full skirt mini dress. The key understanding is that texture becomes one of the the most important qualities and accents such as fringing and embroidery create a luxurious look.
FLARED CROPS Yes really, skinny fit is still in but you can rock the flares without feeling like you’re in the 70s. The trend is everywhere on the catwalk from Marc Jacobs to Chanel. The most important benefit is that the naked ankles really highlight your shoes but always remember to style with tailored pieces on top so the entire outfit isn’t too loose.

The shift dress is another simplistic style that suits the slim figure. The shift dress can be full of bright patterns or one plain colour. Glam it up with a blazer and a pair of heels for a stylish event or beach flats and a little shawl for a more casual evening look. The peplum dress has also made a come back as it takes the tension away from the tum with its added fabric to rock your shape. The lower belly is usually a worry for most women in their 30’s so this dress is perfect for hiding away any regret from the
DRESSES
THE POLISHED TRENCH
Dresses are the easy wardrobe essential that can be worn to a job interview or styled for a night out. Our favourite is the wrap around dress. The effect of the wrap makes the waist appear pulled in and flows down to just above the knee giving on a flattering curve to your body shape. The dress is a comfortable essential accentuating curves and providing a confidence boost.
A polished trench coat tied at the waist with the collar up to give off that classic and effortless look. The lightweight material flatters your body shape flows perfectly outwards after drawing in at the wait with a belt. We recommend a trench with a chunky belt for that added bit of glam! Keeping the colours nude with pale pinks and caramels plays it safe while stealing the show.

features PENCIL SKIRTS Whether you are in the office or at home, a pencil skirt can rock any time and any place. It adds enough glamour to rock with a plain white blouse and leather jacket or a top and blazer. The pencil skirt paired with heels makes the legs look thinner and longer and sexy without revealing too much flesh. If you’re not confident and comfortable with your flesh being out like you may have done in your 20’s, then this is the one for you.
LONG NECKLACES Long necklaces, especially big statement pieces with tassels or large marble rocks on them are perfect for taking attention away from your neck area which we have found is a lot of women’s problem area as they grow older. These necklaces add a bit of edge to an outfit and can update a simplistic jumper and jeans to something worthy of wearing for an evening meal out matched with heels and a clutch bag. The trick in your 30’s is to wear keep your outfits simple and sophisticated and pairing them with more funky accessories like these necklaces.

The key to dressing in your 40’s is to not look like you are stuck re miniscing in your tee ns. Avoid pieces such as mu baggy jeans and unfitt m jeans, mini skirts, ed blazers, you shou ld know your body type now and what compliments your figure. Some of the importa nt classics to own includ e a fitted suit, a straig ht leg pair of dark denim jeans and a colourfu l dress. Mid high heels an belts and hats can als d accessories such as o make a real differen ce to your outfit too.
DARK DENIM JEANS Straight leg dark denim jeans don’t cling to every bit of flesh but still reveal a flattering shape around the waist, bum and thigh area. Straight leg jeans elongate the legs making them appear thinner and longer and the dark colour adds to this. We love indigo colour jeans as they are perfect for wearing casually with a vest top during the day or with a smart shirt and statement piece necklace during the evening.
FITTED SUIT A well-fitted tailored suit should hide all of your flaws and therefore make you feel comfortable no matter where you are and what you are doing. A fitted suit should have comfort and style with a slight stretch in the waist and a cut that shows off and emphasises your curves. The perfect colour suit is one that compliments your skin tone. Therefore for a pale complexion, we recommend a navy suit, for tanned complexions we recommend a white suit and for olive complexions we recommend a grey suit. We also advise women with darker coloured hair to aim for light coloured suits and blondes to go for darker suits to avoid being too washed out.

features SHEER SHELL TOPS
MID HIGH HEELS
While most women think sheer would be a no go in your 40´s, the fabulous floaty material actually looks good on most women and sheer tops with prints will disguise the body and prints instantly make your overall look more bold and interesting. Best to wear with a black or white cami vest although if you´re feeling adventurous throw on with a black bra and fitted jeans for a chic party look.
Mid high heels are perfect for day and evening as they are comfy and casual and stable to walk in whilst still looking glamorous. Suitable for business and pleasure we love them, as a wardrobe must have. Invest in a plain slip on colour such as nude, navy or black and have a fun, vibrant and accessorised pair for a more outgoing look. A fun pair of mid heels are perfect for subtly adding edge to your look without over doing it.
COLOURFUL DRESS Knit dresses are an easy go-to, to throw on for the day but don’t be afraid to add a pop of colour to mix things up. Horizontal stripes are perfect for taller women as they add edge to your look, pair with sunglasses a gold necklace and chunky bracelet to turn a few heads. One thing to be sure of is to not be dull, just because you are 40 does not mean fashion ends. Style and comfort never had to be boring and colour is definitely the way forward, especially in summer. Experiment with bright florals in your dress wardrobe to look effortlessly young.
EDGY BAG When you hit your 40´s, like your 50´s, with a certain amount of no go areas, such as lycra, viscose or anything “mini”, your material choices grow up too. This is when accessorising can become really fun. Play with colour and choose bags and accessories that are made of unusual material and prints to make you look and stand out from the crowd.

PLEATS For the upcoming season, pleats are the very fine kind, sometimes called concertina, sunray or knife pleats. A pleated skirt in a neutral colour could easily be inserted into the wardrobe of a 50-plus woman teamed with a tailored blazer for workwear, or with a simple top for off-duty wear. To keep this look on trend, style it with flat shoes, such as sneakers, plimsolls or a pair of brogues.

LUXE TRAINERS This translates as trainers/sneakers in metallics (such as those by Acne Studio or Tod’s) or in multi-coloured leather (by, among others, Stella McCartney and Valentino). This is a trend which the 50-plus woman can easily adapt for off-duty wear or even for office-wear - just ignore the more extreme shapes and colours. A pair of trainers in black or another neutral or even in gold or silver, is perfect when teamed with ankle-grazer trousers or a midi or maxi skirt, and is a cool nod to this trend.

features THE COLD SHOULDER
CULOTTES
The Cold Shoulder arrived in winter and was an instant hit seen in oversized jumpers with cut-outs at the shoulders. The Cold Shoulder is back for S/S16 seen on lightweight tops and occasionally on dresses. We feel the Cold Shoulder is a completely brilliant trend for the 50-plus woman, as shoulders are one area of our body we can happily put on show long after tops of arms and even décolletage may require a bit of coverage. A Cold Shoulder top, teamed with a midi or maxi skirt or almost any kind of trousers, is a clever way to rock this trend.
Culottes are part of the volume trend in that they are a change in silhouette from skinny jeans to a wider cut trouser. The best culottes are not true culottes (which were a kind of divided skirt, devised for Edwardian ladies to go horseriding). The 2016-season culottes are basically wide-leg trousers that just graze the ankle; so, cropped but cropped at or millimetres above the ankle for maximum flattery. For a completely current look, style these trousers with one of two types of footwear – either plimsolls/trainers/ sneakers/brogues for, or for a bit more glamour, a mid-heel (or even flat) court, ideally with a pointed toe. And keep those ankles naked!
ORANGE Orange has been an important fashion colour for several seasons and is one of S/S16’s most on trend brights. Demonstrate your fashion savvy by wearing orange as an accent shade – as a top or blouse teamed with a neutral jacket-and-skirt or trousers combo. Alternatively, wear orange as a bold accessory (bag, shoes, statement necklace or scarf).

VOLUME Volume has pervaded most of the Spring 2016 collections in the form of a new silhouette that is wider, looser and longer and easy to work if you are not an all bone-and-sinew 18-year-old. Loose, wide trousers, gathered at the waist, paper-bag style, or culottes are the trouser shapes du jour while long, oversized blazers and shirts or a long, lightweight coat is the key piece to layer over the top.

Brasil Super Yacht Imagine yourself starting your day watching a stunning sunrise on the aft deck of a luxurious super yacht, anchored off a deserted beach with palm trees shading the flawless white sand. A uniformed crew member serves warm croissants with freshly squeezed juice and icy cold champagne on the sun-warmed teak deck. Your only decision is, what to do today. One option could be to up-anchor and sail across to Ibiza, or start a week long meander through the Balearic islands before you head back to the quay and watch the crowds strolling the waterfront while you enjoy a gourmet lunch from the yacht’s chef,
who learned his trade in some of the best restaurants in the world. It will be leisurely, languid, and absolutely memorable. Currently moored in the glamorous resort of Puerto Banus, you’ve probably spotted the imposing 40m beauty that is ‘Brazil.’ Having recently undergone an extensive refit, she’s in mint condition and invited us aboard to sample her splendour. With room to sleep ten and a staff of eight, your every wish is catered for. Whether you want to soak in the onboard Jacuzzi or play with some of her toys which include jetski’s, diving gear, a wakeboard, waterski’s, snorkelling gear,
kayaks and much, much more, you will be spoilt for choice. Few of life’s pleasures compare with a yacht charter, because it blends a superb sense of privacy with the freedom and flexibility to do exactly as you please. For many years, charter yachts were the province not just of the wealthy, but of an insider’s clique. Today, however, the marketplace has changed. Prices for Brazil are set at just €17,000 for the day or €110,000 for the week making it an affordable option for you to make your vacation anything you want from mild to wild, and change it again overnight.

SUMMER
STYLING T
rends come and go but great skin never goes out of style, summer throws up plenty of obstacles to keep you from looking your best. Heat, humidity lots of chlorine and salt water. Here are some skin, makeup and hair tricks for looking good this Summer 2016.
FRESH GLOW
Georgia from Marbella Beauty Academy trained as a C.I.B.T.A.C. Beauty Therapist and is also a Stylist and Personal Shopper in London, she has a passion for Fashion and Beauty. Georgia has worked on a number of shoots and has written for several magazines.
If you're wanting a fresh glow, not a sweat glow for your face, try some glimmer. Pick a product with sparkly particles mix with moisturiser in your palm and apply out from the nose (Sephora.com) have a great Buxom Divine Goddess Luminizer.
BODY BEAUTIFUL
For your arms and legs, go with something light like Argan Oil Illuminating Body Butter from Josie Maran. Highlight only the areas you want including legs, collarbone and shoulders for that fresh healthy glow.

HAIR & BEAUTY HAIR HYDRATION
Sun, chlorine and wind are not kind to our strands either. Oil spritz is a must have in you're handbag on wet or dry hair to add moisture and glossiness, Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Miracle Dry Oil is an amazing multiuse spray for hair, body and nails. It contains all natural ingredients including olive, avocado and almond oils that transforms dryness and is rapidly absorbed, for healthy looking shiny hair and also soft supple skin. For only around â‚Ź6 this is a trick not to be missed - what a bargain.
LUSCIOUS LIPS
Lips go through a lot in the summer you need to keep them looking juicy, opt for bright, sheer glosses; Estee Lauder Pure Colour Sheer Rollergloss has a metal ball tip that feels deliciously cool. But before putting glosses or lipstick on always remember to line the lips and fill in to keep your long lasting pout. If airconditioning tends to dry out your lips, go for a hydrating balm. My favourite is Lancome baame called In Love in Coral Electric, it keeps your lips feeling fresh and gorgeous.
Marbella Beauty Academy are offering hair up and styling courses this summer, and we are now enrolling for our VTCV hairdressing level 2 & 3 Courses for September. Our September beauty therapy courses are 50% booked already. MO IN MARBELLA You arrived in Marbella last week, how are you settling in? Yes well, although it takes time to meet everyone and get to know all the clients. I am getting there!
What made you decide to make the move from London to Marbella?
Jon (Stretton Knowles) was very persistant! He first approached me 2 years ago in Harrods but it took me a while to take the plunge as being Director of the Refinery was not a job you could easily walk away from.
Are you missing city life?
Yes but I love the weather here. The Refinery is in the basement at Harrods so the first question I always used to ask clients was “What´s the weather like?” as you don´t know most of the time! I´m not having that problem here!
Mo is head barber at The Barber Club Marbella has held a long, distinguished career at top barbers in London, Dubai, the Middle East and now Marbella. He worked for The Refinery in Harrods for 7 years and the Jumeriah and Burj Khalifa in Dubai for 9 years. As well as London´s most prestigious businessmen, Mo has styled the world´s top celebrities including David Beckham and Daniel Craig to name (drop) a few.
98 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 23
You were director at Harrods, what was it like working in such a prestige environment?
Very hard. You really have to give 100% all the time being completely professional, 95% or 99% is simply not good enough.
Did you have many celebrity clients?
Yes lots…. many top footballers, tennis players, actors and wealthy well known businessmen.
If so who and what were they like working with?
I can tell you I worked with Daniel Craig and David Beckham, who were both very normal and a pleasure to work with although we are not really allowed to talk to them about anything personal.
HAIR & BEAUTY Where did you train to be a barber?
Syria where I was born and then I moved to Dubai in 2000 to train at the world famous Burj Khalifa, before moving onto the Jumeriah.
Have you won any awards?
Yes in Dubai I was awarded the Best Barber, Best Shaver and Best Stylist Award.
MO´S MOPS What´s your favourite trend at the moment and what is everyone asking for?
“The London Look” which is a resurgence of the chic 1950´s look, shaved parting with a bit of volume on top.
Now for the quick fire round. What are your thoughts on the following (yes/no/elaborate) • Moustaches? No - unless with a beard! • Beards? 100% Yes – it should be done with clippers and have a design with shaping. • Sideburns? Not without a beard! • Long hair? It depends on hair type and face shape – some people can pull it off but it´s not for everyone. • Man buns? Definitely no! • Mohawks? It´s an old style and not very current now – so no.
How do you feel about the whole modern day male grooming process and how important is it to most men these days? Very very important. Men nowadays need to look sharp and either go for regular wet shaves, cuts, beard designs, shampoo and finish. Even manicures and pedicures should be part of a modern day man´s grooming routine.
What are your predictions for future trends?
A lot of the looks from the 50´s and early 60´s are coming back in.
MO´S MISTAKES Do you have bad hair days?
No actually! I blow dry and style my hair everyday using a matte finishing product so my hair always looks good.
What´s the worst haircut you have ever had (and do you have a picture)? I shaved it all off grade 0 – not a good look for me!
What´s been your favourite ever cut?
The Classic Cut I have at the moment, it definitely suits me and my face shape.
THE LONDON LOOK
Do men in Marbella follow the same trends as men in London? Yes definitely, the Marbella men are on trend.

C
ue the music to the Boots advertisement, as you see a crowd of beautiful, confident, real women walking towards you! This is the hard and tedious job I face on a daily basis, 50 weeks of the year, as the sun rises and shines down on Mistral Beach. Women, as we are quite well aware “have the brains. And us guys, we got the brawn!” Well not today, as a new dawn has risen and it looks like they (the ´Women´) now have the brains and the brawn! I am sure you have all seen the rise of strong women and athletes taking over our screens and being celebrated amongst our social media. Strong is definitely the new beautiful and I would say it has been now for a few years. And this is definitely the case in Marbella too, as I introduce to you…´drum roll please´…Team Miss Fit Marbella, the women´s only Boot Camp.
TEAM Miss Fit
The Early Risers (07:30-08:30am) Marbella doesn’t finish until 7am, so surely no one would work out at 07:30am? Right? Wrong. This is undoubtedly the smaller of the classes, but there is a strong core of regular Miss Fitter´s; that consist of early morning, sunset watching lovers, workers and those who want to be home and finished by 09:00am. With a slightly more chilled out vibe, the girls knuckle down, work hard and always get the job done without a complaint as I still finish my coffee and take in the beautiful surroundings. The School Run (09:00-10:00am) This group has been huge since the week it began last October. During Winter, Spring and Autumn; this class is at 09:30am and definitely has its fair share of the yummy mummy’s of Marbella. This class is as loud and raucous as the kids the majority have just dropped off and the ladies definitely have a blast as they work out. Although, don’t think you have to be a mummy to join this group. We have ladies that range from 18-60 and everyone gets on. We have models, business owners, students, estate agents; you name it, Team Miss Fit has it!
Girl Power
Don’t be fooled by the look and build of the Team Miss Fit Girls. They can do things their partners could only ever dream of doing!

THE GIRLS….
Miss Fit Marbella Boot Camp
On a daily basis, the girls; flip and push tyres, they pull and battle 10kg ropes, they lift and swing kettle bells, not to mention when the gloves come out, they really know how to pack a punch! And that doesn’t even touch the surface as to the things they do over the 6 week period of the Miss Fit Marbella Boot Camps. Each Boot Camp lasts 6 weeks, for which the girls sign up and take measurements at the start and end of the 6 weeks! The majority come to 3 sessions per week, with a few hard-core Miss Fitters attending 5 times a week. The Miss Fit Girls have made quite a splash on the coast. The ”Real Housewives (and women) of Marbella”; the locals, the mums and the daughters, the shop owners, the neighbours have caused such a splash in fact, that we had a knock at the Miss Fit door, from none other than…
Hello Magazine
Having heard of what Team Miss Fit Marbella do; Jessica Rose Knowles (Travel, Fitness and Lifestyle writer) of Hello Magazine came down to try out a session and write an article about the girls. Accompanied by, to the surprise of the eagerly awaiting class of ladies, Nick Knowles, who came along to take the photographs! After being let down by the photographer, Nick stepped in to save the day! (DIY S.O.S.) So impressed by the session and the workout at hand, we have been lucky enough on more than one occasion to be revisited by Jessica who has brought along an array of celebrity friends with her. “I’m totally hooked. Working out beachside in the sunshine with a group of like-minded women was every
bit as fun as it sounds. Miss Fit Marbella is not for the faint hearted but good things come to those that work really hard!” Jessica said of the camp.
7 reasons why you should try Miss Fit Marbella (From the girls themselves) Friendships “As new to the area, it has been a great way of meeting some fantastic girls who I would call friends!” (Ana) Results “My body fat measurements have gone down every 6 weeks and I have lost inches!” (Liza) Social “I enjoy Miss Fit because of the social camaraderie” (Debbie) Diversity “The best training I have ever done because every day is different!” (Beverley) Enjoyment “It´s the best way to get fit whilst having fun at the beach. RESTAURANT REVIEW
DANI GARCIA EL PATIO
I
ndulge your senses this summer with traditional Spanish entertainment and Michelin starred chef Dani Garcia´s spectacular Andalusian cuisine menu. Every Tuesday to Sunday you can dine under the stars and enjoy the rich full flavours of El Patio´s stunning new menu and evening cabaret. Shows will feature the best music from the Gipsy Kings, a fabulous specially created flamenco show, fire shows, acrobats and stilt walkers among others. The performances themselves will be breathtaking and worthy of the €90 adult price for the show and elaborate 7-course tasting menu. On arrival to the beautiful Puente Romano Beach Resort, guests are welcomed by flamenco dressed waiters where pre-dinner drinks are served in the ballroom auditorium. Kitch popcorn and almonds are served to guests while the intimate 120-strong guest list arrives. Guests are then showed to their seats in the stunning Dani Garcia El Patio area with its impressive stage, white Andalusian flowered walls and courtyard setting – the scenery at Puente Romano is beautiful. And the food, as
110 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 23
you´d expect from the creative mind of Dani Garcia, is showstopping in itself. Our tasters were greeted with a potted plant on their placemat… slightly bewildered at first it all made sense when our edible beetroot flower and accompanying mousse was brought out and placed strategically in the flower pot where a solitary rose was previously missing. A lovely touch. There was then an impressive selection of 5 other starter options, starting with Crudites with Sour Cream Russian Salad, which came up with an ice bucket full of crushed ice
and fresh, crunchy raw vegetables. As equally impressive to the eye and tastebuds as the cleverly disguised rose flower and delicious to dip in the tasty, creamy Russian Salad. Kimchi prawns and osmotised fruit cubes were brought up next, the prawns were delicious and full of flavour and the fruit fresh a real palette cleanser which made the Cod Fritters, Andalusian Fried Fish and Fried Calamari with Sesame Mayonnaise that came up next even more appetizing. A great selection that didn´t actually fill you up too much. Then came the main. With the El Patio menu you get all the starters brought up as part of the overall dinner menu but each diner gets to choose a main course. On our tasters evening the choices were; Yellow Sea Bass with Spinach, Beef Cheek with Potato Puree, Guinea Fowl with Raisin and Almond Rice, Rice with Vegetables or Truffle with Mushroom Raviolis. Our testers went for Beef Cheek with Potato Puree which was succulent, melt in the mouth and came with a rich flavoursome sauce. The Sea Bass was also divine and portion sizes generous. First up on the entertainment side was the Gipsy Kings with traditional Spanish guitars, maracas and a great lead singer, their songs are traditionally Catalan rumba, flamenco
with a bit of pop thrown in and definitely get you in the mood for dancing which many of the guests do here at El Patio. After the Gipsy Kings, the flamenco show is put on. It was a great performance by the family run trio. The lead dancer was flawless on every move and literally had the crowd clapping along to her impressive flamenco dance steps. The other musicians tapped eagerly along with the main show and even had impressive solo flamenco shows to put on. The fire display put on by the talented El Patio duo was also on point. It broke up the gaps between courses perfectly and really made you gasp with breath as they danced and threw fire at least 15 foot in the air. After the mains and shows a mix of gorgeous Andalusian sweets came out. The choice was impressive and there was something to suit every tastebud. The show then carried on for a further half an hour and the whole El Patio guestlist was up dancing or at least clapping and tapping along to the Gipsy Kings music. All in all a fantastic evening; great food, unparralled service and some of the best and most authentic Spanish entertainment our reviewers have witnessed in Spain in 7 years of residing here. Well worth a visit this August as this is the last month this unique dining experience will be on this summer.
There will be two sittings every evening and tickets cost only €90 per person and €38 per child. For reservations contact restaurantes@puenteromano.com

RESTAURANT REVIEW
TIBU ROOFTOP S
et in the heart of Puerto Banus, Tibu’s Rooftop restaurant offers their customers a relaxed, VIP atmosphere underneath the stars until they are ready to dance the night away in Tibu, one of Puerto Banus’ most popular and most established nightclubs. The Mediterranean inspired restaurant offers a unique selection of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, taking traditional recipes that one step further. Our reviewers described the Rooftop restaurant as “alive” a place to relax and enjoy fantastic food and cocktails with friends. Marbella undoubtedly has some of the best tasting seafood on offer across the coast and Tibu’s Rooftop restaurant takes full advantage of it. The Mediterranean inspired menu is almost dominated by seafood dishes, which is expected due to the quality of seafood in and around Marbella. To kick off the evening our reviewers sampled a selection of seafood starters which were on offer, including the Tuna Tataki which was served in a soy, sesame and lemon grass sauce. The tuna had a delicate and smooth texture, the combined ingredients
112 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 23
within the sauce enriched the flavour of the fish, constructing a light beginning to the evening´s meal. Additionally, another seafood starter which went down a treat with our reviewers was the Spicy King Prawns Thai Style. If you’re a fan of prawns then this is definitely the dish to order. The combination of spices infused into the tomato based sauce left tastebuds tingling. Similar to the Tuna Tataki, the spicy king prawns left our reviewers feeling satisfied by the light starter but ready to continue and see what else Tibu had in store. We were advised by staff to sample the chef’s signature dish Ravioli Mock Tender with Beef and Foie Filling, winner of ‘the best dish in Seville’ 2015 award. The precise presentation of the main course was impressive, ever so delicately garnished with microscopic flowers and mouthwatering pomegranate seeds. The Italian inspired main course was filled with bursts of flavour specifically from the tender beef which filled the ravioli parcel. The gravy based jus completed the overall dish and although it was an unusual recommendation,
something our reviewers had never tried before, it was definitely apparent why it was award winning. However for those who prefer to stay safe there are some fantastic, yet simpler options on the menu, such as the Sea Bass which is served with an assortment of vegetables in a white wine sauce. Mediterranean cuisine is typically known for using fresh fish and moderate amounts of wine to create dishes which are rich in flavour. The Sea Bass undoubtedly offers all these components, creating a light, but heavenly main course. After sampling both a starter and a main course it was unlikely our reviewers weren’t going to try their best to squeeze a desert in after seeing what sweet treats were on offer. Our reviewers enjoyed a warm white chocolate soup, we can already tell what you’re thinking, chocolate soup? Believe it or not it was the most flavourful desert, which was accompanied by fresh, seasonal berries. This simplistic, yet unique recipe had some cause for concern amongst our reviewers when it arrived at the table, however, it was definitely a gamble worth taking. The
contrast in textures complimented each other, almost working as a palate cleanser to complete such a fantastic meal. However, if you’re not feeling adventurous and fancy a safer option, the Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream also won over our reviewers sweet tooth. The rich chocolate brownie was balanced in flavour when combined with creamy vanilla ice cream and raspberry coulis. A perfect end to the most amazing meal. Tibu’s rooftop restaurant delivered an overall outstanding performance. The charismatic staff made our reviewers feel extremely welcome. The food was faultless to say the least and we were lucky enough to be given the pleasure of meeting the head chef to thank him personally for a fabulous meal.

RESTAURANT REVIEW
Porterhouse Grill Marbella
L
ocated in Nueva Andalucia, this restaurant truly is a hidden gem. Walking into the restaurant we were surrounded by candles, wine glasses and a rustic décor which set the scene for a perfect evening. The wine menu was one with a difference, it was displayed on a wooden slate against the wall, with the wine listings and the actual bottles, which we thought was very original. We were greeted straight away by the hostess, with an upbeat and friendly attitude she asked us whether we wanted to be seated inside or outside. As much as we loved the look of the inside, the outside of the restaurant grabbed our attention. Candlelit lanterns and wine bottles decorated the tables, and each chair was provided with a blanket which we loved. As the evening grew darker the already wonderful atmosphere grew as the lights filled the terrace. Our drink orders were taken and we opted for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with a drink from the cocktail menu which
was difficult to choose. We went with a ‘Bootylicious,’ chosen purely for the name, but our taster was very pleased with their choice, and commented that it tasted just like juice, so this could be dangerous if you forget there's actually alcohol in it and easily knock back 4 or 5. Bread and butter was brought out to us with a homemade Chimichurri sauce which was polished off in an instant. This was shortly followed by a trio of sausages: Chorizo, Chistorra and a Cumberland, all were very juicy and tasty. We then had Pork Belly Ribs which had a great flavour and didn't contain any bones. All of the starter portions were very generous, yet manageable.

The hostess came out to us and presented us with a platter of the steaks they served, explaining which was which. We were very surprised at this, yet agreed it was a lovely touch. Our mains were brought out to us not too shortly afterwards. We tasted a Salmon fillet served with mash potatoes, our tasters loved the crispy skin, and the fact there was not a single bone in the whole fillet. The creamy, herby mash potato complimented this perfectly. A homemade cheeseburger was our next try. The juicy burger was served on top of a relish sauce accompanied by a generous portion of seriously chunky triple cooked chips, which we were told were cooked in the beef drippings. If this doesn't make you sound full already, there's more. A very large Rib Eye Steak was presented, again served with the chunky triple cooked chips. One bite into the steak and the taste exploded in our mouths, both of us wouldn’t usually have chosen a steak but were extremely glad we tried this, we only wished we weren’t too full to eat it all. Our final main was a large portion of mac n cheese. We agreed that this matched the rustic theme of the restaurant, and again, although it’s not something we would have usually chosen in a restaurant, it was very, very tasty. All of the portion sizes were very generous, and the prices very reasonable. The menu had a great range of food for both meat lovers and non meat lovers. Dessert was then offered to us, and although we were already cradling our food babies, we couldn’t say no. The cheeseboard was well presented and had a great range from Brie to Blue Cheese, and sides such as chutney and honey. We were then served a Vanilla and Cadbury Crunchy Ice Cream with Hot Chocolate Sauce which the waitress described as ‘simple yet delicious,’ and that it was. In fact, our tasters were fighting over the bowl! Our tasters were extremely happy they got to try this restaurant out, and both agreed they would come back again and bring family and friends. With the beautiful atmosphere, extremely friendly and efficient service, great food, you can’t go wrong.

DATING IS A JOB

he only true goal is happiness in life. In study after study, going all the way back to Aristotle, we find that what most people want, above all, is to be happy, however they define that quality. Happiness is the common denominator of all people and all human behaviour. Everything we do is an attempt to achieve our happiness in some way. In fact, you are only really successful to the degree to which you can achieve your own happiness in life.
Dating is a job, well its my job! I am owner of Adoreus International, a bespoke and exclusive introductions service. I also collaborate with one of the worlds leading agencies as their international consultant. I work with clients in the UK, Europe and more recently Dubai. I work mainly with busy professionals and HNW Individuals who are keen to find their ideal life partner, future husband or wife. We match likeminded and exceptional men and women who excel in all areas of their lives and who share the same type of lifestyle, important high values and similar life goals. My clients are internationally minded, educated, successful and have no trouble “dating" on there own but finding the right one to share their life with is often not as easy as many of you will perhaps experience yourself. Adoreus offers a unique and personal approach. It provides a modern, fashionable methodology of luxury matchmaking with old fashioned values, with our services carefully tailored in a bespoke manner for every individual client. This allows us to handcraft each and every important introduction that we make. Until you fall in love. Then, our work is done.
ACHIEVING HAPPINESS
The second ingredient of happiness after health is loving relationships with your family and others. The more people you have in your life who love and respect you, and whom you love and respect, the happier you are. Loving relationships help us become the best version of ourselves without a doubt. In setting to find you match, your main job is to be absolutely clear about what it is you want, to make a plan to achieve that goal, and then to think about it and work on it every single day. It is no different in looking for a job or looking for that ideal relationship. Dating is a job and if you are serious and clear about finding your ideal romantic partnership you must set a goal. If you hire a matchmaker or set out to do the job yourself you need a plan, a clear vision of what you want and what it feels like. Make a plan to achieve that goal, and then think about it and work on it every single day. Sheryl Sandberg, the woman who ran Facebook, has said that the most important career choice you’ll make is who you marry. I totally agree with this in statement. Relationships CAN make you or break you, so it´s imperative to choose wisely. So you are ready to find the love you richly deserve? You need to ask yourself this... are YOU ready? A re you building a happy and meaningful life all by yourself? Relationships that are built on co-dependancy rarely work out for the best. Nobody wants to be responsible for another persons happiness so ask yourself WHY you want the relationship in the first place. Then start the work...
NETWORKING
If you go down the networking route, the same rules of networking for a getting a job apply to networking to get a spouse. Which means that the most valuable people in your network are people who you are not that close to because those people will likely know a bunch of people who you don’t already know.

RELATIONSHIPS
The chances are Mr or Mrs right will not come knocking on your door so you need to take action, join activity groups that interest you, nightclub "dating" is not the best place to find yourself a potential romantic relationship. Get out in the daytime and socialise, network and mingle.
ONLINE DATING
Well we all know the potential pitfalls with this! It's no joke that a large percentage of online 'singles' profiles are married men according to statistics. Scary thought indeed. The online dating world has most certainly given the key to the candy store of single women whom really are there with open hearts and good intentions mostly. If you are a married man on a singles dating app (you know the one) you're intentions are clearly NOT the same! The drive through McDonalds of the dating world perhaps. Flirting, sexting and possibly a face to face which will almost be directed towards hooking up. We wonder why it's not working?? On the occasion that I have found myself hungry and been deluded into
believing a quick burger will help. I ultimately end up feeling sick after. YOU KNOW ITS BAD FOR YOU!! Yet occasionally we let our standards slide and there we are in the drive through! But this is the default method of finding a romantic relationship, it has been known to work but its not for the faint hearted. Nor for people who don't have time to waste. I will be discussing all of this in depth in my blog which is due to launch very soon.

Chances are in your desire for success and to get what you want, you have taken on too much and need to lighten the load. While your goal is in sight, if you are too tired to enjoy the rewards when you get there, then you’re missing the point. It could be time to delegate or just refuse to take on any more. There are fabulous new opportunities popping up all around you this month - for romance, pleasure and fun and it would be a pity to miss out on all that simply because you’ve worn yourself out. The thing is - you’ve probably already done as much as you can. Understand that what you have done now has a momentum all of its own. So either bring in outside help or now let events run their course.
Stuck in the mundane and your everyday routine means you could well have closed yourself off to possibilities and the fact that magic can still happen, Taurus. Have you become just a little bit cynical of late? Someone from your past could reconnect perhaps to remind you that life is filled with possibilities; or else suddenly everything just turns out in your favour - just like magic. You’re suddenly free and carefree once again and really, this is your invitation to live a little. What appears out of the blue for you now may just seem like a small miracle that invites you to believe in them again. We all know life’s not a fairytale but every so often, we just may get to be a princess or a prince for a day (or several!) again.

Just when you thought romance was dead someone appears to restore your faith in love - or perhaps just humanity in general. Something special is on offer for you now, Gemini and yes, this could be that lover who appears to be someone made to order for you. Or else someone does you a good turn without expecting anything in return. This may even be someone you don’t know that well. The kindness of strangers gives you pause for thought. If you are on the receiving end of a good deed then pay it forward at some point. If it’s love or an offer you can’t refuse now - don’t look a gift horse in the mouth and question it. Time to ride it.
You could benefit from the help of someone in a position of authority and power. If you need professional advice this August you’ll find just the right person to consult and one that is very much committed to helping you achieve the results you are after. Others could meet a man who may appear a little straight-laced to begin with but wait until you delve below the surface! There’s a killer sense of humour and a strong sensual streak. As a lover you need to take this one seriously as he is after that serious connection. A situation at work may call on you to act with a certain authority and be seen as someone who knows what they are talking about. Ensure you observe and get the facts before taking action. Rushing in or knee-jerk reactions dilute your authority and get you nowhere.
Seeing as we are still in the midst of your birthday celebrations Leo, what isn’t quite living up to your expectations? You may just be experiencing a ‘Meh!’ moment or feel that no matter how good things are, you are just stuck in a rut - no matter how pleasant that rut may be. Hang on as a new beginning is just around the corner for you and in fact the first signs of this may already be there. You just can’t see them - in other words, you can’t see the new for the old in the way. Focus on what is right - not what is not quite right, and in doing so, you will suddenly see the opportunity for change is right in front of you. Now is also the time to seize it Leo.
Chances are this month you need some down time and you need to take it now. Hopefully you are reading this poolside and sipping a cocktail. If not, a holiday is called for if you can take it. If not, try to take a few days staycation and just relax. Looks like you have been running on empty for quite some time now and the effects of this are becoming obvious. Perhaps to everyone except yourself. There’s also a need to step back and assess what is working in your life and what needs to change. Don’t let fear of letting go prevent you from making a few decisions. Chances are you will stop feeling so drained and all you will do is make room for something better to take its place

Something comes to an end and perhaps in a way you do not like. Chances are this situation has gone on for far too long however. Also your higher self has been telling you this was going to happen for some time. All you may now be thinking is why you didn’t listen or act on this sooner? When we neglect to make the choices we should for our growth, the universe steps in and makes them for us - usually in a way we don’t like. When you look back it is likely you are going to see that anything that ends now, is actually a release and a blessing in disguise. You are no longer stuck. Now you can move forward into something better. Embrace the changes that are happening to you this month Libra.
Long live love now. And creativity. And fun. And pleasure. Something new is born into your world and this can be anything and anyone from a new lover, to a job or professional recognition, to a period where pleasure and enjoyment reign supreme. In essence this month couldn´t get better for you, Scorpio! Creative or business ventures could also get the green light. You get that coveted position. Win that heart or contract. You could end up being justifiably pleased with yourself and life in general now. Abandon yourself to the good things of life - and they include showing the world your talents and all you can do now.
A lover who is worth rethinking your criteria for could just cross your path now, Sagittarius. Yes, I know you are usually searching for a fellow free spirit and on many levels this person is that. But they also value home and family too. They are sensitive and creative and on the face of it may at first seem a little too clingy or needing attention. This triggers your usual ‘Don’t fence me in!’ response. But before you head for the hills at a flat out gallop, stop. A little nurturing and attentiveness may be just what you need. Hold your horses and give them a second look - and a second chance.
Release your sensuality and your generosity now. The simple pleasures in life are often the best - and you don’t have to blow your budget to sample them. However, if you are in a mood to spend and have the budget, then it’s likely you’ll be splurging on things that feel good - clothes made of sensual fabrics which feel like a lover’s caress when you wear them. Beautiful things for the home. Jewellery. Good food and wine. If a lover is your goal then act as if they were already in your life and dress and treat yourself as they would. It’s a real ‘If you build it they will come’ tactic. Try it and see.
Pay very close attention to what your intuition is saying about whether someone can be trusted or not. Also take care who you confide in now as they may not keep your confidence. If you have any doubts about someone’s integrity, please heed it now as there is nothing worse than realising in hindsight that your gut feeling was spot on. I’m the last person to encourage paranoia or suspicion, but if you feel someone around you is ‘up to something’ then the chances now are high that they are. Take a step back, don’t get emotional and observe. Actions and time will show you whether or not your suspicions are justified and chances are, you’re right on the money now.
August brings choices to be made and most probably around love and romance now. These can range from whether or not to get involved with someone, or whether or not to go deeper into a relationship or let it go. You are going to live with your decisions for a long time to come so think carefully. If you are juggling your priorities now - say work and your personal life, you need to step off this multitask merry-goround which is doing you no good whatsoever. Dedicate your time so when you are at work you are there 100% and when you are with your lover work is but a memory and your focus is with them 100% and watch how the quality of both relationships improves as a result.

ISSUE 23 | MARBELLAROCKS 141
Each month Marbella Rocks Magazine will be quick firing questions at unsuspecting famous Marbella faces. This month, we’ve sprung it on Glenn Ward, owner of Beach Fit Boot Camp and Things To Do Marbella. You do Beach Boot Camp, what made you get into the fitness world? I just enjoyed it. A lot of the gyms are sweatboxes and we wanted everyone to go out on the beach. We started 3 years ago and now do camps at Bora Bora in San Pedro (called Bootie and the Beach) and another class at the beach just outside Plaza del Tora. How many sessions do you do a week? I do 3 in Marbella on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Henriette and Maria do the San Pedro Bootie and the Beach. What results can you expect to see? In 8 weeks on our Fat Attack you can expect to lose a dress size. You also get a nutritional plan to help you tone up and lose fat. You also run the new website Things To Do Marbella, what does your site offer thats different to other event sites? We will be the most comprehensive directory and information source for Marbella. Not just for tourists and not just locals. We cover everything including family, hen nights, stag nights. We also have 8 different bloggers providing regular content. What in your opinion is the best thing to do in Marbella? Day out of activities cycling on the Istan road taking in the breathtaking
scenery or taking a hike up La Concha, followed by a meal in Amigos in Benhavis. Now a bit about you Glenn. What ´s your nickname? I think they call me bastard behind my back! Glenos (my adopted Spanish name to my face!). What couldn't you live without? My beautiful wife Henrietta and my dogs. If you could only take three things to a desert island what would they be? A boat load of food, my wife and my dogs! You recently got married, how is married life? Absolutely fantastic. Ideal celebrity dinner party guests? Jeremy Clarkson and James Corden, we´d drink a lot and have a laugh! Greatest achievement? Running the Marbella half marathon and then doing the Malaga triathlon straight after. If you had to be an animal, what would you be? A lion because I´m a Leo and most like me - cute, cuddly and can growl a lot. Best pick up line you've used?
142 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 23
I´ve got an app – Norweigan pick up lines that I used on my wife. Jaja delfin trainer – which means I´m a dolphin trainer. The best one on the app is “Will you give me your number?” and if not “Shall I stalk you?” Crazy! Celebrity shag? Sofia Veraga from Modern Family. Best advice ever given? Just do it anyway! Most embarrassing thing in your wardrobe? A silver tie with dragons on it. Favourite film of all time? The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio. Best character trait? My go get attitude. Worst habit? Picking my nose and farting (although I am cute and cuddly at the same time!). Best thing about Marbella? So diverse, vast amount of nationalities, so much to do, beaches, restaurants, scenery, activities and skiing in the winter. Worst thing? Snakes! To join Beach Fit Boot Camp or get your event listed on Things To Do Marbella contact Glenn on 617 929 712 or email glenn@things2domarbella.com
