elcome to the March Issue of Marbella Rocks. This month we explore The Good, The Bad and The Ugly in our celebs uncovered feature. Who is the goody two shoes in Hollywood, who is the worst behaved and who has invested in too much plastic surgery. The revelations are quite shocking – turn to page 34 to find out more. Our cover star Will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas would definitely come under the Good category. Not only has he dabbled in philanthropy, rallying youth to become interested in politics but the star has also set up two charitable organisations funding low income students through college. He is also an entrepreneur with 7 successful brands under his i.am company as well as being a 7-time Grammy Award winner – and all while suffering with a hearing disability and ADHD. A true role model if there ever was one. Next up, talented writer and devout Vegan Mille Pugh uncovers all there is to know about the Vegan Revolution, which has seen a whooping 360% increase in participators taking the pledge to go Vegan in Veganuary. Do you have what it takes? Plant life is the good life apparently… We also have two stunning photoshoots, the first from Elle Morgan Boutique in Laguna Village and the second from new Marbella brand Crystals and Feathers. Plus What’s Trending in For Him and For Her and your monthly dose of Steal Their Style and Skinted V Minted.

KYLIE WELCOMES DAUGHTER & BREAKS SILENCE

The youngest of the Kardashian clan, Kylie Jenner, welcomed her daughter Stormi into the world on February 1st. After remaining tight lipped about her pregnancy over the past 9 months, the 20-yearold reality TV star and make-up mogul finally revealed why she had kept her pregnancy hidden from the public. “I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions. I understand you’re used to me bringing you along on all my journeys. My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive stress free and healthy way I knew how. There was no gotcha moment, no big paid reveal I had planned. I knew my baby would feel every stress and every emotion so

JENNIFER & JUSTIN SPLIT Jennifer Aniston has called time on her 5 year marriage to husband Justin Theroux. According to insiders, Jennifer’s hatred of New York doomed her marriage. The actress, 49, had tried to move to Manhattan after she fell for Justin, 46, who owns a place in Greenwich Village but she “couldn’t deal with the paparazzi and the pokey apartment,” and retreated back to the privacy of her sprawling Los Angeles estate. “Jennifer is more comfortable in Los Angeles with her close-knit group of friends,” said a source, adding, “But

Justin doesn’t feel as at home in LA, nor with Jennifer’s friends, he loves New York, and the edgier crowd in the city.” While the couple, who married in 2015 spent a lot of time apart for work, Justin began taking more time alone in NYC and partying with an IT crowd and lots of younger women. Since the split Jennifer has announced that Brad Pitt, her former husband has NOT been providing a shoulder to cry on, despite the rumours. Pitt split with Angelina Jolie last year and has not been linked to anyone else.

I chose to do it this way for my little life and our happiness,” she wrote on Instagram. Shortly after she posted an 11-minute video on You Tube entitled ‘For Our Daughter’ showing a compilation of clips from her pregnancy with boyfriend and baby daddy - rapper Travis Scott. The news comes as Kylie has been voted the richest of all the Kardashian clan, with more money than the rest of them put together. Kylie is believed to be worth $386m with the only sibling close to her earnings being sister Kim Kardashian with a reported wealth of $175m. Elsewhere, Khloe Kardashian is the third richest sister with a total fortune of $40 million, followed by eldest sister Kourtney Kardashian with a total of $35 million. Last (but by no means least!) is model Kendall Jenner who has amassed a fortune of $18m from her lucrative runway contracts and brand sponsorship. The only male member of the family brother Rob Kardashian is worth $8 million. According to the report Kylie is on track to be the first Kardashian billionaire and is expected to reach billionaire status as soon as 2022, aged on 24. Life is looking good for the baby of the family!

NEWS TROUBLE IN PARADISE FOR CHERYL & LIAM Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne are going through a really ‘rocky patch’ reportedly sparked by her continuously rebuffing his numerous marriage proposals. The pair, who are at the centre of split rumours, reportedly hit the rocks after Liam felt 'snubbed' by her rejection. This comes amid rumours that the One Direction singer, 24, and the former Girls Aloud star, 34, who share 11-month-old son Bear, could part ways 'within weeks'. According to reports Liam, who is worth £54 million, has sought legal advice over what a split could mean for

his finances. Liam has also opened up about his disagreements with Cheryl on Monday in an interview with Ronan Kemp on Capital Radio mocking her Geordie accent and her dislike for football. Terrible timing considering the rumours dogging the pair. And all this despite rumours his 'oversharing' was at the centre of a lot of their arguments. According to The Sun newspaper, another catalyst in the breakdown of their relationship came after they spent an increasing amount of time apart, Liam is touring the US, while Cheryl stays at home with Bear.

AMY SCHUMER SECRETLY WEDS US actress and comedian Amy Schumer married her boyfriend celebrity chef Chris Fischer in a secret wedding in Malibu on February 13th. Fans of the ‘Trainwreck’ star did not even know Amy was engaged. Fuller figured Amy has denied that she is pregnant and that she participated in a “shotgun wedding”. Schumer and Fischer tied the knot in a very private beachside ceremony in Malibu, California, exchanging vows in front of about 75 people, including Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllenhaal, Larry David and David Spade. Guest Jennifer Lawrence said of the surprise wedding: "It was very sudden, but it was...I was sobbing the whole way through - his vows were stunning. It's when two people really love each other and they really mean it, it shows, and it was a beautiful ceremony and an amazing time. I couldn't be happier for them."

PADDY MARRIAGE WOES TV star Paddy McGuiness is in the proverbial dog house after a night out with Liam Gallagher’s ex Nicole Appleton. The ‘Take Me Out’ presenter was pictured out in London looking very close with the former All Saints star at the end of February while wife Christine was at home with the couple’s three kids. To make matters worse Paddy lied to his wife saying he was “out with work friends” on the said night pictures of them cuddling appeared in the papers. The couple have now put on a united front and are said to be “working through things” while Nicole has jetted off to LA.

PARIS HILTON GETTING MARRIED The Hilton heiress and DJ has just announced she is tying the knot in a lavish wedding to her ‘Amazing Spiderman’ boyfriend Chris Zylka. Paris, 36, who is struggling to organise the event and is enlisting her mum Kathy to help, has earmarked a date for the lavish wedding later this fall. She said: "I'm getting so many different calls from designers. Now I'm looking through all the designs and trying to pick which one but there are so many gorgeous choices. It's hard to pick. I love an outfit change. It's important to have the pre-wedding dress, the wedding dress and the after party." Paris has amassed a $300 million fortune; as heiress of the Hilton empire and through her TV shows, DJing and product launches, expect this to be the wedding of the year!

A revolutionary new 2-seater passenger drone is being unveiled this month that will strip commuter times from Heathrow to Central London from 2 hours by car to only 12 minutes by air. The Y6S drone flies at 70mph (110km/h) at a cruising altitude of 1,500 ft (450m) with a range of 80miles (130km). Martin Warner, who co-invented full colour 3D desktop printing, envisions a wide range of drone-based, battery-powered air vehicles for both commercial and private use, which he calls the 'new gold rush in transportation and aviation.' His company, Autonomous Flight, has offices in both the UK and the US and expects the passenger drones to be available to the public within the next five years. “I'm delighted to be able to say that Autonomous Flight is now much more than just a concept – it is truly coming to life after a lot of hard work,' says Mr Warner. “Through it, we are creating a fleet of completely autonomous passenger drones (known as APDs), with the ultimate goal of solving transportation challenges, such as congestion and pollution, that have become so prominent across global cities. I'm extremely excited by what 2018 has in store – in the Spring, our first autonomouslyflown vehicle, the Y6S, will take to the skies and signal the start of a revolution in passenger transport.” While Marbella hasn’t yet been earmarked for the scheme it is expected drones will be available to the public via private aviation companies within the next 3 to 5 years.

According to a recent study in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology, which asked 8,500 women to rate men with and without beards for their boyfriend potential, bearded blokes came out on top. The men were photographed clean-shaven, five days after shaving, 10 days after shaving, and then four weeks after shaving. The results were amazing every single woman preferred their men with facial hair. Heavy stubble received the highest ratings for general attractiveness, followed by full beards and light stubble. The researchers said that typically male features, such as a strong jawline, signal health and high testosterone levels, which may not be what women are looking for in a long term partner. Whereas we associate beards with a man’s age and masculine social dominance. One theory, the study states, is ”Beards may be more attractive to women when considering long-term than short-term relationships as they indicate a male's ability to successfully compete socially with other males for resources.”

WHAT'S TRENDING...

COOLCOWGIRL

Western and cowgirl influences were seen all over the Spring/Summer 2018 catwalks with Celine, Tom Ford, Versace, Chloe and Calvin Klein getting in on the All-American action. The biggest nod to the trend so far had to be from Celine, whose breathtaking show included a full length lambswool embroidered coat. The look was polished and said “Rodeo Drive” more than “Rodeo Cowgirl” which is exactly how to think when translating this trend into your everyday wardrobe. Elsewhere Tom Ford opted for full Western inspired head to toe denim and Calvin Klein went for chic patent cowboy boots. Versace showed us how to rock the trend with black leather look blouses and matching skirts – throwing their timeless gold Gianni prints in for good measure while Chloe went for a more demure Western prarie inspired look with soft smocks and floaty skirts. Of course topped off with knee length cowboy boots. This is a fun trend that shouldn’t necessarily be worn head to toe – pick your favourite nod to the Western trend and go for a chic/tailored version of that.

RECIPE STEAK FAJITA POWER BOWLS Getting bored with salads and want to make a hearty dish without all the calories. Well this recipe from Delish is a fantastic way to eat your favourite Mexican fajitas without the carbs yet all the flavour. Packed full of nutritious, fresh, healthy ingredients you can be safe in the knowledge one serving is only 298 calories.

INGREDIENTS • (Serves 4) • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil, divided • 1/2 yellow onion, sliced into half moons • 2 bell peppers, thinly sliced • kosher salt • Freshly ground black pepper • 1 lb. skirt steak, cut into 1/2" slices • Juice of 1/2 lime • 1/2 tsp. cumin • 1/2 tsp. chili powder • 4 c. cooked brown rice • 1 c. black beans, drained and rinsed • 1 c. frozen corn, warmed • 1 avocado, thinly sliced • 1 tbsp. finely chopped cilantro, for garnish • Sour cream, for serving

DIRECTIONS • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil. Add the onions and peppers, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook until onions are translucent and peppers are tender, 7 to 10 minutes. Remove from skillet and reserve. • Add remaining vegetable oil and let heat for about 30 seconds, then add skirt steak to pan. Squeeze lime over steak and season with cumin, chilli powder, salt and pepper. Let them sit for a minute or so to get a nice sear, then cook to your preference, about another 5 minutes for medium well done steak. Remove from skillet. • Build bowls: start with about 1 cup rice per bowl. Top with steak, onions and peppers, avocado, black beans and corn. • Garnish with cilantro and drizzle with sour cream. Serve.

WINE MATCH A Coronita (Corona and lime) or Margarita are traditionally associated with Mexican foods and certainly go down a treat with spicy dishes! However when looking to pair wine with Mexican foods such as these Steak Fajita Bowls we would highly recommend a Cabernet Sauvignon which maintains the fruit without the harsh tannins, making it a great choice for flavourful Mexican dishes. Rich dark berry fruit with spice, herbs, and sweet toasty oak, Cabernet has lush fruit, yet balanced texture to integrate with the meaty, spicy, vegetable flavours. Alternatively, a Malbec is similarly bold and has strong fruit notes which would work exceptionally well with a dish like this. Salut!

NEWS MOVIE REVIEW

GRINGO Gringo is a cinematic treat combining both dark comedy with white-knuckle action. The story centres around mild-mannered American businessman Harold Soyinka played by the Golden Globe nominated ‘Selma’ actor David Oyelowo. Gringo joyrides across the border into Mexico, where all is not as it seems. Crossing the line from citizen to criminal, Harold tangles with duplicitous business partners, Mexican drug lords, international mercenaries and the DEA. As he attempts to survive in one of the most dangerous places on earth, the question lingers… is this ordinary man in way over his head, or is he two steps ahead? With a stellar cast consisting of Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Joel Edgerton and Thandie Newton it’s a ‘dark’ laugh a minute as Harold’s life unravels before your eyes. Directed by Nash Edgerton whose hits include ‘The Equalizer’ and ‘The Square.’ Due out on March 9, this is a raucous comedy/thriller/ action that will have you in stitches.

MOBY

MARBELLA GIRLS

Moby’s 15th album 'Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt', has been given a March 2nd release date and fans are eagerly awaiting the new studio album. Moby shared the first single featuring LA-based soul singer Raquel Rodriguez, 'Like a Motherless Child' back in December. It is a re-work of the popular song of the same title with its origins deeprooted in the slavery of South America. Over the years the song has been interpreted by the likes of Lena Horne, Mahalia Jackson, Laura Mvula, Odetta and Van Morrison and describes the void left when a person feels separated from a parent or higher power. The album has been described as a "glowing tapestry exploring spirituality, individuality and the brokenness of humanity and finds him returning to his orchestral, soul, trip-hop and gospel roots". Moby has curated a playlist of artists that influenced the recording of 'Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt'. This playlist, which you can access on both Spotify and YouTube, will be the first place fans can hear this new music from Moby.

Marbella Girls is a glamorous, sexy, erotic, funny read that all you girls will enjoy. Written by local writer Karina Miller, also the author of ‘Single in Marbs’ Karina confesses there is an element of truth in some of her stories, although insists this book is fiction and the characters are fictional. Adele Carter and the girls get caught up in a lot of amusing situations yet again in this novel. From Marbella to New York to London with lots of romance and disasters along the way. “I have been inspired to write both ‘Single in Marbs’ and ‘Marbella Girls’ from my own experiences living the crazy party life in Marbella,” Karina says. “For several of those years I was single, so I have first-hand experience as to what really goes on in Marbella for a single woman. “A lot of people thought that the main character Adele was me, I wish!! Lol I have written both of these books enjoying every moment, laughing as I was writing the stories and the odd tear I may add. I write because I love doing it, so I hope that comes across. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. Enjoy.”

BeachGrooves "When it comes to great music, you never have to look too far to find what you love. It’s the sound that starts, drives and ends hundreds of great nights - out in this part of Spain, and now, you can have this music with you wherever you are, whatever the time of day or night." That's the underlying mantra of BeachGrooves Radio, the premier deep house radio station on the coast. They have been in operation for around 4 years now bringing a superb selection of local and international artists directly to listeners up and down the coast and abroad, day in and day out. We caught up with them for a rundown on last season’s event and to find out a little more about their upcoming and future plans... on Digital TV (OliveNet CH:998) as well as live video streams from our “outdoor” events both locally and internationally.

Q: FIRST OF ALL IN YOUR WORDS – WHY TUNE INTO BEACHGROOVES? If you’re into your deep house music then BeachGrooves is the number 1 radio station on the coast to keep you entertained and wanting more. With a huge roster of over 40 DJs both locally and internationally producing shows for the station and listeners, the music we provide is second to none. On top of this, our wide radio coverage along the coast means we are always with you wherever you go. Q: WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER RADIO STATIONS ON THE COAST? I would say a combination of factors. The music style and format that we play/promote as well as the number of actual LIVE presented shows both day and night. To our knowledge, in terms of presenters, no other radio station on the coast comes close to these numbers. As well as the traditional FM broadcasts we have extended/bridged “radio” to “TV” with all our live sessions being broadcast across a variety on online video platforms (YouTube, Facebook:LIVE, Twitch etc) and

Q: YOU ALSO PLAY LIVE EVENTS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING VENUES ON THE COAST, PLAYA PADRE. WHAT REGULAR NIGHTS ARE YOU PLANNING TO DO IN 2018? We are in the process of renewing and organising events with our partners from last year. In addition to the great venue you’ve mentioned, LIVE FROM IBIZA was a great international broadcasting collaboration with Heaven’s Gate:DEEP coming LIVE from the rooftop of Ocean Drive Hotel in the heart of the clubbing island. This will be followed up this year with the addition of a LIVE FROM FRANKFURT broadcast. We also have a few new names coming on-board this year for the summer season…which, of course, we can’t reveal at this stage…all very exciting tho ;) Q: CAN YOU ‘NAME DROP’ SOME OF THE FAMOUS DJS YOU WILL BE WORKING WITH IN 2018? We could do but then we’d have to kill you :). Unfortunately at

this time of the season we have to keep a lot under wraps but all will soon be revealed and you won’t be disappointed. Last year we were lucky enough to be involved on many different levels with DJs like Black Coffee (Resident of Hi-Ibiza - Ibiza’s latest super club), Pete Tong, Joey Negro, HOT SINCE 82, UNER, Johannes Brecht, Hraach, Magdalena, Los Suruba, Andrea Oliva, Blond:Ish, to name but a few, as well as some of our own better known residents like Roger Sanchez and Jack Eye Jones.

house with BeachGrooves, latino music with BeachLatino, rock with BeachRock, trance with…you guessed it… BeachTrance. BeachChill, BeachBass, BeachHouse and BeachDanceClassics (playing the best in soul, funk and disco from yesteryear). All are now available through our mobile app “BEACHRADIOSTATIONS” (available for free from Apple or Google stores) ;) Q: YOU RUN SOME GREAT LISTENER GIVEAWAYS TOO – CAN YOU GIVE US ANY INSIGHT INTO COMPETITIONS YOU MAY BE RUNNING IN 2018? We shall be having the usual ticket giveaways throughout the summer in conjunction with our promotional and advertising partners. Last year we gave away over 500 tickets entrances to various events up and down the coast. For the last few years we have had our annual Christmas giveaway in which we have given away over €30,000 worth of prizes so looking forward to something like that again at the end of the year.

Q: ARE THERE ANY MORE UNIQUE BEACHGROOVES SHOWS PLANNED FOR THIS YEAR? Plans are in motion - We want to bring back the excitement of last year but, as we are always striving to be better, we will be implementing them this year with a little extra “groove.”

Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE FOR ANY WANNABE DJS OUT THERE? Keep on going but most of all BE DIFFERENT. With the multitude of upcoming DJs around these days persistence will get you there, but being different and special will get you there quicker. Believe it or not, actual talent helps as well ;) Q: BEACH GROOVES ALSO OPERATES IN IBIZA – HOW ARE THESE OPERATIONS GOING? We have been really happy with the positive response we have received from this “extended” area or coverage and the popularity of the station grows month after month. We are looking at more involvement this year with more collaborations on the horizon. Q: ARE THERE ANY PLANS FOR MORE BEACHGROOVES STATIONS? There are always plans for more stations…world domination plan in full flow. :) - As you may or may not know we have a variety of genres covered from deep

Q: AND WHAT ELSE DOES SUMMER 2018 HAVE IN STORE FOR US? This year we are looking at raising the profile of our station and music through promotion and involvement with some great international brands as well as our rising involvement on the magical party isle of Ibiza. Whilst raising our profile, the aim is to also help raise the international profile of the Costa and Marbella in particular. Q: BEACHGROOVES CAN ALSO BE HIRED FOR PARTIES AND EVENTS – CAN YOU TELL OUR READERS MORE? Depending on your event requirements, we can supply everything needed for your day. Through our sister company EZ Entertainment (http://ezentertainment.es), we can supply sound and lighting equipment, decor and DJs. We also have a full-on events management and organisation service available which includes promotional services through our extensive marketing outlets (for public events of course) :)

By Millie Pugh

Veganism, commonly referred to as the plant-based revolution is undoubtedly the fastest growing lifestyle of millennials today. Over the last decade the increase of ‘vegans’ has quadrupled, whilst “flexitarians” - nonvegans who have reduced their meat consumption switching to plant-based alternatives, yet admittedly are not quite ready to ditch the turkey at Christmas or that sausage sarnie on a hungover Sunday morning - are also on the rise. Great Britain is leading the trend with a staggering 360% increase over the past ten years amounting to a whopping total of 542,000 people. The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation has found that animal agriculture is responsible for 18% of the worlds greenhouse gasses, while livestock and their byproducts account for 51% of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions; putting this into perspective, that is more than ALL transportation combined, and yes by that I mean cars, trains, buses and planes! The statistics, however, don’t stop there, according to NASA, 70% of deforestation in the Amazon is also caused by livestock production. Now, whether you champion a caveman diet or you simply live on tempeh, those are some mindboggling stats. Aside from the facts touched upon above, there is a multitude of reasons for why so many of us are jumping aboard the plantbased train. Traditionally, we have the fully fledged holistic vegan opting for polyester pants and cruelty-free products, while some others are more concerned with following a plant-based diet for health concerns. The findings published by the World Health Organisation (WHO) have arguably influenced many by linking processed meats such as bacon to cancer while stating red meats are “probably carcinogenic”. PETA, the globes biggest animal rights advocacy organisation is spreading the vegan voice through social media platforms including online videos. Their “Chicken Dinner in Reverse” gained over 15 million views on their Facebook account alone. PETA claims they are “the most engaged-with advocacy organisation on social media, period”, so it’s not so surprising that the likes of Instagram and YouTube are playing a crucial role in changing people’s perceptions towards veganism. In 2005, Dr. T. Colin Campbell published “The China Study”, a 30-year comprehensive works, hailed as one of the most important books about nutrition ever written. Since then an expanded edition has been released exposing undeniable evidence advocating a plant-based diet, dispelling a multitude of health myths and misinformation. Documentaries such as “The Reality of Truth”, “Cowspiracy”, “Forks over Knives” and “What The Health” have also played their part, some of which cause quite a stir within the press. These programs, full of hard-hitting facts confront some of the

globes biggest corporations with no concern for rocking the status quo. However, it’s perhaps the celebrities and social media influencers that take the leading role by bolstering a trendier profile to veganism encouraging the most tenacious meat-eaters to contemplate the switch. Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robbie Williams, Lucy Watson, Demi Moore, Miley Cyrus, Jared Leto, Ellen De Generes, Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Russell Brand, Jermain Defoe and Michelle Pfeiffer are just a few of the stars that follow a vegan diet. Paul and Stella McCartney insist that simply cutting back on eating animal products can make a world of difference, and so they launched a non-profit campaign encouraging people to go meatless one day less per week. Perhaps being influenced by The Earth Day Network who state that “if the average civilian skipped eating steak once a week it would be the equivalent to taking a car off the road for three months”. The former Beatles legend even wrote a song to help the cause, while hashtags #OneDayAWeek and #MeatFreeMonday have up to 161,400 tags on Instagram under tantalising food snaps. It’s not only the A-listers who are turning to a more colourful way of living, many top league athletes are adopting a plant-based approach to help their athletic performance. This contradicts the familiar misconception that a vegan diet is deficient in protein which food corporations so often lead consumers to believe - yet this is true with any diet that isn’t followed properly. If you beg to differ you could challenge former world boxing champion David Haye who has followed a plant-based diet for four years and claims, “it’s a myth that you need meat for strength”. The Williams Sisters otherwise known as the “green machines” in the vegan community have followed a raw vegan diet since 2011 after Venus was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome. In an interview with Health magazine, Venus explained how turning vegan “changed everything”, enabling her to return to the courts with a newfound vitality, thanks to good treatment and a newly followed plant-based diet. Lewis Hamilton, Formula 1 champion stopped eating meat two years ago, technically following a pescatarian diet but recently has cut all animal products in an attempt to lead the healthiest lifestyle possible. Closer to home, Marbella and it’s younger sister Puerto Banus have also taken a slight step back from greasy fry ups and backline pizzas, opting instead for organic superfoods and macro-friendly meals. Over the past two years, there has been a substantial development within the food scene as we have witnessed the openings of new vegetarian and vegan-friendly eateries catering to the ethically concerned and health conscious body. Local and tourist hotspot La Sala Banus has created a new green menu solely offering vegetarian and vegan meals, favourites include Lebanese classic, tabbouleh, Sala homemade hummus and their show-stopping Thai green coconut curry. On a day-to-day, Phosh (by the M13 gym) offer a helping hand by providing a weekly meal prep service. They tailor to all your dietary needs keeping those calories at bay whilst taking out the hassle by delivering directly to your door. To conclude, I hope this article has shed a little light on this growing lifestyle choice of many, and as the winds of change blow one step closer towards sustainable living. Only skimming the surface of this topic I’d encourage you to conduct some of your own research, which simply can be done by watching one of the documentaries listed above. Maybe you’re already vegan (if so, go you), or perhaps you’ve been dabbling in and out of the idea. You could think about setting yourself a 22-day challenge, Jay-Z & Beyoncè style, which could act as a physical detox if nothing else. Being an all or nothing type of character I dived straight into the deep-end of the pool, and as of yet have no regrets...

THE GOOD THE BAD & THE UGLY

With fame and fortune on their sides, it’s always good to hear that celebrities are being GOOD, giving back and making a difference to other people’s lives. From Ariana Grande’s Manchester memorial concert to JJ Watts whooping $37m Hurricane Harvey fundraiser, celebs can be downright goody two shoes. Unfortunately the flipside of this is celebrities can be really, really BAD, take Hulk Hogan cheating with his daughter’s best friend or Woody Allen moving in with his stepdaughter. Ouch. While we wouldn’t shame a celeb for being UGLY we can put them on our list for overdoing the plastic surgery. Just because they have the bank balance doesn’t mean the surgeon’s knife will be kind to them. 34 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 38

THE GOOD ED SHEERAN

Nice guy Ed literally paid off old school friend’s Amy Wadge’s mortgage by cowriting a song with her which went on to receive more than 10 million in sales and streams. Struggling songwriter Amy helped write ‘Thinking Out Loud’ with Ed after she told the star she was about to lose her family home. She now never has to think about money again. It also put her on the songwriting map with artists Geri Horner (Geri Haliwell) and Ben Haenow using her talents.

ARIANA GRANDE Following the Manchester Arena Bombing at her concert on May 22 last year, killing 22 people and injuring 500 others, pop star Ariana organised the follow up ‘One Love Manchester’ benefit concert on 4 June 2017. She generously gave her time and efforts for free (roping in pals Katy Perry, Justin Bieber & Coldplay) and raised over £18 million for the victims of the bombing and their families.

JENNIFER LOPEZ

Former diva Jennifer Lopez had been vocal about helping the victims of Hurricane Maria in her hometown of Puerto Rico. Last September she put her money where her mouth is and announced at a press conference in New York that she would donate $1million to help rebuild Puerto Rico. Her efforts have gone a long way in repairing hospitals, schools and public buildings in the area.

NICKI MINAJ

Rapper Nicki helped fund struggling students through college paying for their loans and tuitions. It all started out fairly innocently on Twitter on May 7 last year with a joke from a fan who asked if she could help out with his loan. She did! And then called on other fans to prove they were straight A students and needed help. In total Minaj funded 8 students that night but promised she would do more later down the line for other fans.

CHANCE

Chicago born Rapper Chance launched the New Chance Arts & Literature Fund, an investment in arts programme for Chicago schools. The initiative has so far raised $3.2m for Chicago Schools. In addition he has donated a further $1m to Meals on Wheels and 100 Suits – an organisation to prevent police brutality and racial injustices.

JJ WATTS

Texan NFL star J.J. Watt set up the Houston Flood Relief Fund in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the combined fundraising efforts brought in $37 million with more than 200,000 donations. Spearheading the group the American football star also donated $100,000 of his personal fortune in the immediate aftermath to send supplies to the worst affected areas.

JAKE GYLLENHAAL

Although it might seem trivial compared to donating millions to charity you have to give it to nice guy ‘Brokeback Mountain’ star Jake in the “random acts of kindness” stakes who admits to regularly topping up people’s parking meters in LA when he sees they’ve expired and parking enforcers are heading his way.

THE BAD

WOODY ALLEN

Woody Allen’s place in the bad celebrity list was cemented the moment he decided to marry his own stepdaughter, Soon Yi Previn. At the time the two met, Oscar winner Woody was dating actress Mia Farrow who had just adopted Soon-Yi. Moral compass severely skewed the director moved in with his new girlfriend, 35 years his junior, dumping devastated Mia.

ALEC BALDWIN

Baldwin’s inclusion on this list is rooted in a single incident when he left a horrific voicemail on his daughter’s phone, calling his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland, “a rude, thoughtless little pig,” going on to tell her, “you don’t have the brains or the decency as a human being.” He has also been caught fighting with paparazzi on three separate occasions and using an anti-gay slur in one outburst.

36 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 38

HULK HOGAN

Hulk Hogan wins on the “embarrassing dad” stakes with this one. The former WWF wrestler turned reality TV star embarked on an affair with his daughter’s best friend Christiane Plante. When caught out he decided to leave his wife of 24 years Linda Hogan. Hulk’s daughter Brooke and Christiane are not surprisingly BFF’s anymore and Hulk has been embroiled in 3 sex tape scandals since his indiscretion.

JUSTIN BIEBER

Although he has been trying pretty hard of late to change the public’s perception of him, his antics from 2012 to 2015 have been very well documented! Firstly he called a female fan a “Beached Whale” has been caught spraying graffiti in Australia and even peed in a mop bucket in a restaurant. Topped off with being late to the majority of his concerts and even spitting on his fans. Nice.

DEMI LOVATO

Now this is pretty ironic as Demi has always been a huge supporter of anti-bullying campaigns but according to several of her high school alumni Demi was the biggest bully in school. She was “your typical mean girl” one stated. One even claimed that Demi made rude comments about her weight which went on to her developing an eating disorder (which Demi also suffers from.) Maybe Demi is only standing up to bullying to cover her own tracks?

LUCILLE BALL

According to reports Lucille Ball from famed TV show ‘I Love Lucy’ was a complete snob who refused to talk to any ordinary people or people that she felt were beneath her. She was often heard in public referring to common people as “the help!” Much was the public disdane to her at the time that hosts refused to have Lucille on their chat shows and she was snubbed at awards gala.

OJ SIMPSON

‘Naked Gun’ star Simpson was acquitted of murder charges in 1995, but there’s always been suspicion as to whether he was really innocent when someone murdered his wife and her boyfriend, Ron Goldman. Despite being acquitted in the ensuing criminal proceedings Simpson was successfully convicted in a civil case soon after that for “wrongful death,” to the tune of a whopping $33 million settlement (which he has yet to pay off).

She never names her surgeon preferring to label him as "the man who ruined my face". The 78-yearold has never actually fessed up to the exact procedures she has undergone but at least she admits she doesn’t look good.

ALICIA DOUVALL

Ex-model Alicia had her first facelift when she was just 24 years old. Since then she is said to have spent a staggering £1.5million on over 350 cosmetic enhancements. She now regrets having so much work done after a botched bum life which left her with severe leaking and scarring. Alicia, admits she is happy in her skin now aged 39 and replies on serums and creams.

FARRAH ABRAHAM

The ‘Teen Mom’ star was an unfortunate victim of botched lip injections that blew up her pout to triple the size. "As soon as he touched my lip with whatever numbing product he put in there, my lip was having an allergic reaction right away," she revealed on TV show ‘The Doctors’. "I was laying down flat, but I was seeing more of my lip come up and come up. I'm just super happy that I'm alive."

MEG RYAN

‘Top Gun’ actress Meg Ryan was known for her pretty girl-next-door looks in the 90’s yet dabbling with lip augmentation has left her with a severe trout pout. Added to this Meg was still suffering from a swollen face from botched fillers at a recent awards ceremony. Will someone please shake the woman and tell her to STOP!

MICKEY ROURKE

Legendary 80’s actor Mickey Rourke and his hairdresser pal accidently paid homage to ‘Zoolander’ in this hilarious OAP get up in LA in December. Cosmetic surgery experts say the ‘Nine and a Half Weeks’ star has had a facelift, eyelid surgery to both upper and lower lids, soft tissue fillers, cheek and chin implants as well as rhinoplasty and hair implants.

MICK HUCKNALL

Simply Red lead singer Mick Hucknall has apparently always had a penchant for partying and beautiful ladies. His recent trip out in London where he was papped profusely showed the decades have finally caught up with the 55-year-old ginger lothario. Looking very swollen yet tight in the face, Mick smiled away during the close-up photos – although probably regretted getting that close up in the morning when he opened the papers.

WILL.I.AM He’s on FIYAH

Will.i.am is so much more than just a recording artist. He is a brand and a maker of brands. Born William Adams, the multi-faceted entertainer and innovator is a founding shareholder of Beats (progenitor of the Beats by Dre headphones.) In partnership with Coca-Cola, he's got a clothing line called Ekocycle that features apparel made with recycled plastic bottles. Will.i.am has also launched an iPhone camera accessory, a smartwatch, a pretty damn cool eyewear collection, a special SUV for Lexus and last year a smart home operating system to rival Alexis. He operates under the parent company i.am. Will.i.am is one clever, forward thinking, money making machine – even though his spelling and overuse of full stops still baffles older generations.

RAGS TO RICHES The seven-time Grammy Award winner is best known for his work with The Black Eyed Peas, who have sold a staggering 33 million albums and 58 million singles worldwide. Will.i.am was born in Los Angeles in 1975 and raised in a largely Hispanic neighbourhood on the east side of the city. His mother encouraged his musical career and sent him to a privileged public school in the more affluent area of West Los Angeles. While attending John Marshall High School he became friends with Allan Pineda (his future Black Eyed Peas bandmate apl.de.ap) he performed in LA clubs till he was spotted by Compton rapper Eazy-E and signed to his Ruthless Records in 1992. Unfortunately due to the rappers untimely death in 1995 the album he had been working on was never released. Luckily he got to meet his third bandmate Taboo and renamed the band Black Eyed Peas in 1997. The band had relative success with 2 albums ‘Behind the Front’ and ‘Bridging the Gap’ in 1998 and 2000 respectively. While working on their third album they realised a female vocal would work well with their hit ‘Shut Up’ and enlisted Fergie (although Nicole Scherzinger from The Pussycat Dolls was originally approached – she declined). Fergie formed such a close bond with the band she stayed and was a permanent fixture in the Black Eyed Peas for all their major number one hits including ‘Hey Mama’, ‘Where is the Love?’ and ‘Let’s Get it Started.’

Since then they have always insisted they will reform for a reunion tour. We are waiting with baited breath, of course. Since the group fractioned, Will.i.am has embarked on a hugely successful solo career of his own and has worked with some of the industry’s biggest names including Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, David Guetta and film composer Hans Zimmer. He also manages Brit singer and close gal pal Cheryl Cole’s career. According to Forbes, Will.i.am is now one of the richest singers in the US with an amassed fortune of over $75 million.

POLITICAL AMBITION As frontman and founder of The Black Eyed Peas Will.i.am’s songs and imagery have entertained and inspired millions, and the power of his words resonated deeply in his song “Yes We Can” that mobilised an entire generation to action during the 2008 presidential campaign. Demonstrating that music, brands and causes can be intertwined to entertain and inform, “Yes We Can” garnered an Emmy Award for “Best New Approaches in Daytime Entertainment” as well as a CLIO award in the Interactive category. Plus it did make going out and voting a cool thing to do in an era when many of the youth of America were disillusioned with the government and politics.

TV STAR

GIVING BACK For Will.i.am, philanthropy is a top priority in everything that he does. His i.am.angel foundation has partnered with both the California Endowment and College Track to help TRANS4M the youth community Boyle Heights, the neighbourhood where Will.i.am grew up. The foundation also selects recipients for the i.am scholarship, a program which has given over $500,000 in financial aid to college students. Additionally, in response to the foreclosure crisis, the foundation has launched the i.am home program which works to improve financial literacy and provides grants to help qualifying struggling families. The program has provided over $400,000 to date in home owner assistance grants.

In addition to his music career, Will.i.am is very active in front of and behind the camera. His educational TV special ‘i.am. mars: Reach For The Stars’, a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic and scientific elements involved in sending a song to Mars aired on Discovery’s Science Channel in 2012. Will.i.am was indeed the first ever recording artist to send a song to Mars in conjunction with NASA’s Curiosity Mars Space Lab. Will.i.am also executive produced and starred in his first prime time TV special ‘i.am FIRST: Science is Rock and Roll’ to get young people excited about math and science education, as well as technology and science-related careers. In front of the camera, Will.i.am has appeared as a Coach on reality TV hit show ‘The Voice’ UK on the BBC and now ITV for six years in a row. Despite music legend Tom Jones appearing alongside him on the red swivel chairs, Will.i.am definitely has more credibility among the young hopefuls and 95% of the time - if he turns he gets the vote. To date he has only won the show once with Jermaine Jackman who won the 2014 edition. However with the show currently entering the exciting Battle stages Will.i.am has some major talent on his team and is hoping to pip the other Coaches – Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and newbie Olly Murs. Tune into ITV at 8pm on Saturday nights throughout March to find out if he wins the series again this year.

DID.U.KNOW 3 Facts about Will.i.am

HE HEARS CONSTANT RINGING IN HIS EAR Will.i.am suffers with tinnitus as a result of years of exposure to loud noises. He is often left hearing sounds and highpitched noises that aren't actually there. "I don't know what silence sounds like any more,” he said in a recent interview. “Music is the only thing which eases my pain."

HE WANTED TO BE A FASHION DESIGNER Ahead of finding fame as a musician with the Black Eyed Peas, Willi.am attended the Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. He created his own clothing line named i.am in the process but later drifted away from fashion to pursue music.

HE SUFFERS FROM ADHD It recently emerged that Will.i.am's need to focus on so many things at one time comes from his Attention Deficit Disorder. ADHD is a behavioural disorder that affects people's attention spans, impulsiveness and causes them to be hyperactive. It is often diagnosed in children - although Will only announced his diagnosis 2013.

I have always loved chokers, especially with sparkling rhinestones or velvet and lace. They look so elegant and sexy. Whatever the outfit, a choker just adds that finishing touch. I decided it was time to give the choker a new, modern look - and to make it a little more jazzy. Feathers were an obvious choice for me. I was inspired by an experience in Mijas, where I saw over 50 pigeons of every colour you could imagine - pinks, yellows, blues, greens - so vibrant and magical. It was the most beautiful sight I had witnessed. That was 10 years ago and I’ve never seen or experienced the colourful pigeons again but the image stayed with me. I started buying feathers, the best coming from America; then rhinestones, diamonds and lace, from India, England and here in Spain. I was thrilled at how well the combinations worked and how beautiful the feathers looked around the neckline and also on the arms. It’s hard work but I love it, especially when anyone wearing one of my beautiful and sensual feather chokers tells me how glamorous and confident it makes them feel. So dare to be different.

B

EFORE I TELL YOU MORE, LET ME TAKE THIS CHANCE TO TALK ABOUT REIKI AS MANY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS.

What is Reiki? - It is an accent energy healing technique that was lost in time, it was rediscovered in the late nineteenth century by a Japanese man called Dr Mikao Usui. Dr Usui joined a Zen monastery and started studying old manuscripts, it was then that he came across this ancient healing technique and so, this lost energy healing was slowly reborn and put into practice. Reiki has been used for 1000’s of years, Buddha and Jesus were said to channel this energy, however, it follows no religion and everyone is able to benefit from this.

MY NAME IS SHAUN FREEBODY - I AM A REIKI THERAPIST NOW RESIDENT IN THE GOLDEN TART’S SALON HERE IN PUERTO BANUS. SO WHO I AM IS WHAT MAKES ME A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS PERHAPS! WELL, AS YOU KNOW MY NAME IS SHAUN, I AM FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM, BORN IN THE FORESTS OF ENGLAND. I WAS RAISED IN A SMALL VILLAGE THAT SHIELDED ME FROM THE OUTSIDE WORLD, I BATTLED WITH SCHOOLING GREATLY AS MANY OF US DID, AT THE AGE OF 19, A GREATER BATTLE APPEARED IN MY LIFE - CANCER. DOCTORS NEVER ONCE ASKED ME ABOUT MY DIET OR LIFESTYLE IT WAS THEIR WAY OR THE GREAT HIGHWAY THAT WE WILL ALL MEET ONE DAY. THESE EXPERIENCES HELPED ME GAIN THE HUNGER FOR LIFE AND ALSO WHERE MANY QUESTIONS ENTERED MY MIND TOWARDS THE PHARMACEUTICAL DRUG COMPANIES, DOCTORS AND SURGEONS.

A Reiki therapist is someone who taps into this universal life energy and allows it to flow through the body to the recipient who then draws this energy from the therapist to where it is needed, unknowingly. The laying of hands is the connection point where the energy is transferred to the recipient’s energy points called (Chakras) or to where healing is required. This is where blocks may occur if the recipient is not truly open. Each chakra is linked to various organs in the body. As a therapist we are guided to where healing is needed. Whilst channelling, I am guided by this unseen force and receive different messages, some are clairvoyant, and others are to where the healing is needed without being told. This energy has unlimited uses and only the mind of the individual blocks this. It is able to boost the immune system, which helps kick start a healthy lifestyle. Reiki is used for all types of conditions, not only does it help eradicate toxins from the body, it also helps reduce inflammation, infections, and any types of pain you can think of, along with helping to heal the body from major disease. It calms one's nerves and is very beneficial for people dealing with anxiety, who perhaps have busy lifestyles or who just need to be rebalanced after life situations, past, present and future. What does Reiki feel like? Everyone is different, I can only go by what people have reported to me. Heat is felt where healing is needed. Some people see colours others drift off into a sacred place that is hard to describe, some awaken with tears and others

system, I refused to become entrapped. My travel career had been truly born and, within a very short time scale I was yet again on the move, traveling around the world on my own, getting completely off the beaten track, each trip becoming more fearlessly adventurous, always pushing many boundaries as far as possible before that little voice rang out loud and clear, “don't go any further.” Sometimes I have had to run for my life, I can remember a few times in Kashmir and Colombia that were pretty hairy not to mention - Malaysia and Panama, where my worldly talking skills came into effect rather rapidly.

with laughter. A great deal of stress and pain is released, emotions and blockages can feel lifted. Some people’s reaction is “Wow I feel so energized and clear headed.” Reiki is a non-invasive therapy where no removal of clothing is necessary. One can channel this energy without hands on, however, a hands on therapy is always recommended by myself as this is the way I have been trained, but I can channel hands off also. Who have I channeled Reiki for? Well for a start I use it on myself daily for many varied things. I have now channeled this energy for a great number of people. The list is growing, some had bad arthritis, others trauma from divorce and the break-up of relationships, relaxation, people recovering from heart attacks/ strokes, breaks in bones, sprains, money issues, major stress issues, alcoholism, drug abuse, to calm one's nerves in many situations, to create luck, cure hangovers, dissolve kidney stones, weight issues, fibromyalgia disease, major depression, house cleansing from negative energies, protection for travel, Delhi belly, exhaustion, job creation, the old and beautiful, good fortune, positive awakenings. I feel Reiki is extremely important to me and others, I was attuned to Reiki 1 in 2013 and progressed to Reiki 3 over the years whilst inbetween travels. I use it daily and I am constantly adjusting for improvement, mentally, physically, and spirituality, to become deeper in-tuned with this pure energy that I channel. I fully believe in what I do. The number of recommended sessions depends on the nature of the healing.

At the age of 22 after my diagnosis life had become extremely delicate “This was not my path”. I left the UK with a skinhead haircut, and a young English attitude to go with it,- that would later land me in a great deal of trouble with the Authorities abroad. I returned to the UK a hugely different person, this initial epic trip gave me insight from a different perspective of life which made me feel so tremendously free. It also started opening me up to alternative medicine by using what nature provides us with. The eye-opening experience that I gained made me instantly addicted to travel where I was scratching at the walls back in the UK to go travelling once more. Now my mind had opened I became fiercely headstrong towards modern ways and the

I have now travelled to many places in my 23 years of travel when timing has been right, refusing vaccinations and travel insurance, I have ventured of into the world. Hitchhiking around the world has brought its dangers where I maybe should have lost my life. Throwing myself down a mountain glacier to escape a group of men has its story, disappearing for days, weeks and sometimes a month here and that would drive my family and friends insane with worry about me. I would turn up with stories that would scare the living daylights out of them, having them say “One day you will die for sure, you must tell us where you are going” But it is never enough! How can I tell people where I am going if I don't know where I am going myself?! Sometimes I walk for 100’s of miles, crossing mountain rivers and melting glaciers, setting up camp in some truly magical places has been mind boggling. I have travelled to places that I have never heard of before, meeting people from all walks of life has brought many skills to me, I have had to truly look out for myself whilst on the road, putting my trust and life into those who I do not know, for sure it’s been rewarding. It is a guarantee that I have broken every rule on the British high commission travel guidelines on what not to do and where not to go. I have spent time in the Amazon and various other jungles around the globe after wandering off on my own, being told by some locals not to go has made me smile as I walked off towards my destination, being introduced to tribes, carrying out completely mind blowing ceremonies have left their mark on me both physically, mentally, emotionally, and of course spiritually, which is where my true sight for healing was born. What I have gone out and done has been a little different perhaps from the rest. As the years have gone by I have been attuned to each stage of Reiki, and that has been a great companion for me. My intuition has been greatly heightened, it has also helped a great deal of people around the world as I have travelled giving them healing as my steps unfold, sometimes in exchange for food or accommodation, sometimes there is no need for money and that is a true gift. If you would like to know more, or have some Reiki healing, you will find me at Golden Tart’s salon in Puerto Banus, where I can channel this pure healing energy for you and others.

At South Beach the Chef Dirk Van Reenen will prepare you one of the most delicious plates from the sea and if you are a meat eater or prefer a lighter snack or salad plate you will not walk away disappointed either. I let the chef Dirk prepare me something of his choice. The Sushimi Red Tuna Salad was caught and served fresh on the day apparently - the thin cuts of red tuna melted in my mouth and the favour was superb. The fresh salad, estragon herb and marinated orange cucumber vignette and the wasabi mayo on the side was a perfect combination to this light starter choice. As a second starter the chef surprised us with The Mediterranean Seafood Soup and this is a wow dish that can be eaten as a starter or a main meal. homemade prawn cracker. It had the perfect amount of spice and totally tantalised our tastebuds. If you are a fan of peanut sauce or satay this is the dish for you, Grilled Chicken Satay Skewers topped with homemade satay sauce, roasted onions and on the side homemade herb prawn crackers and a garden salad.

DESSERT LOVERS

I think I have found one of the best carrot cakes on Costa Del Sol! This homemade carrot and cinnamon cake was the bomb - think this is a must, the cake is fresh and moist with cream cheese icing on the top with fresh strawberry and Dirks homemade lemon sorbet – a beautiful finish to an outstanding overall meal.

We are very patient and encouraging teachers, and we assume no prior dance skills, strength or flexibility when you come for your first class. So if you are worried about not having a dance background, don't be! Most of our students have no prior dance experience. Our beautiful dance studios were designed to create an atmosphere where you can feel comfortable and sexy. We offer challenging and fun dance classes for all ages.

You'll make new friends and have a laugh - all while developing your strength and flexibility. You won't believe what you are capable of!

Come and give pole dance a try - we hope you love it just as much as we do!

ROCKS ASTROLOGY FORECAST Aries

Gemini

Leo

21 MAR – 20 APR

22 MAY – 21 JUNE

24 JULY – 23 AUG

Cancer

Virgo

22 JUNE – 23 JULY

24 AUG – SEPT 3

Time for a massive declutter before you power ahead into an exciting new cycle, Aries. Shed what really doesn’t work anymore for you whether it’s those items in your wardrobe, a way of thinking or associations that have been lived out. You know what or who they are. You’re about to step into a powerful shift when it comes to your finances and career rewards. If you’ve not been taking yourself seriously, it’s time to see yourself in a new light. The world will reflect this with doors opening wide. When it comes to love – there should be no barriers between you and others now. Open up and share your deepest feelings. Putting up walls means you can’t really connect on a meaningful level. Look at who it is you don’t trust. Is it others or is it really you? Trust yourself to make the best choices when it comes to partners or anything else now. And ditch what no longer serves you – that includes those defences.

Taurus 21 APR – 20 MAY

March madness?! Cupid could just go crazy firing off those arrows in every direction now. Sure, walk around telling yourself you’re immune – and then find your heart unexpectedly beating faster. Perhaps even for someone or something totally different to what you’ve fallen for in the past. This could be a good thing as if you keep making the same choices, you’ll end up with the same results you always have. So take care if someone returns from the past now and wants a second chance. Have they truly changed? Have you for that matter? If the answer is no, then think again. That lovestruck feeling doesn’t necessarily have to involve a lover. New friends, an enticing social scene or an activity could rev you up and see you throwing yourself heart and soul into it with passion. Time also to initiate changes on the work front as March draws to a close. Feel you are shackled to your desk or ‘slaving’ away? Liberating aspects could see you working at something that feeds the passion, not just the body. Go crazy this month.

104 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 38

March adds up to magnetism, passion and maybe the desire to take a walk on the wild side, Gemini. You’re craving some excitement. Temptation may cross your path. Can you resist it? This is one of those months where I would say: be careful what you wish for as you may get it. If it’s not a lover that tempts you, you can channel all that energy into making huge strides in your work and career now. But do try to get everything finished off or at least brought to some kind of conclusion before the month’s end. Up until then you’re very much in control of your destiny – and in a position to direct outcomes. However, all of a sudden events could just take a direction all their own. If this happens don’t even try to steer them. Instead hang on and enjoy the ride. You may not end up with exactly the result you thought you would, but it may in fact turn out to be better for you in the long term. March is about knowing when to steer – and when to let go, and know you’ll end up in the right place no matter what.

Romance may be new but does it have a retro feel to it this March, Cancer? If not love, you may find yourself in a situation that feels eerily familiar somehow. Sure, the players may have changed and so has the setting, but the storyline looks like one you have lived out before. If so, are you in a mood to change the ending? The key here is that it’s your story to re-write any way you see fit. You are the writer, director and yes, the main protagonist. You can’t change anyone else’s roles here but you can change yours simply by choosing to act different. This may involve you having to establish some boundaries and let others know exactly where they lie. You’ve got the confidence and the energy now to do this. Insisting others don’t take you for granted doesn’t mean they will withdraw their love – that is if the love is real. What it does mean however is that you have their respect as well. So, don’t scuttle off into that shell of hurt feelings if love gets set on replay. Change the story instead and you could just get that happy ever after, after all.

Go boldly into March or be a little bolder when it comes to taking a chance on something. Maybe even yourself or your ideas, Leo. Take a calculated risk now and it will most probably pay off. You’re being asked to expand and stretch yourself to see what it is you are able to achieve if you do. Unless you push yourself beyond previous limits you’ll never discover what this is. Ideas and dreams remain just that. What turns them into goals is our ability to take action on them. March opens up a wealth of internal resources you can access now including increased self-confidence. So, don’t just talk about what you are going to do ‘someday’. The thing about ‘someday’ is that usually it never arrives. Instead seize the day and take action in the moment. Your money and your workload could also increase if you do adding to that your sense of self-worth. Look closely at where you believe the barriers to progress still block you. As Henry Ford famously said: “Whether you think you can, or whether you think you can’t – either way you are right.”

Here’s the thing about change. We can resist it but it’s going to happen anyway. And unless we accept this, the change arrives in a form we won’t like. Bear this in mind in March. If things don’t change they cannot improve. Are you one of those people who when they hear the word automatically assumes change means something negative? We can change jobs and usually this means getting a better one in terms of pay and potential. Going from being single to being in a relationship is a change. Becoming a parent another one. And all these are positive examples of the forms change can take. You’re entering a powerful cycle now where some kind of transformation on a deeply personal level looks inevitable. And it’s about setting change in motion and going in the direction of your desires. Deep down inside you know what’s missing or what needs to change. Don’t resist the urge to do something about it this month. Plug into your power and make it happen. The improvements will show you a change is just what you need now.

Libra

Sagittarius

Aquarius

24 SEPT – 23 OCT

23 NOV – 21 DEC

21 JAN – 19 FEB

What’s your focus this March, Libra? Because whatever it is, is what you are going to attract back. Funny how we always focus on what we don’t have rather than what we do. The result being that lack, not love, is all around us. March calls for a shift in your perspective as that is all it takes. This especially applies to your relationships. You’re the sign of partnerships and this is the area where you are most likely to see the scales as being unbalanced. If you are a single Libran, this is about as far from your ideal as you can get. But if you’re focusing on the missing type of love chances are you’re missing the point. Love is love and is all around you. If it’s one type you want to attract now – and I’m not saying this is the romantic kind, you could be yearning for a business or activity partner or just new friends, look at what love you do have. Love grows in response to appreciation, not lack. You’re entering a cycle where it wants to seek you out. Don’t block it now by telling yourself you’ve got none. All the world loves a lover. Let it come and find you this March.

Working behind the scenes is not usually your style. However, being the brains behind the enterprise or the power behind the throne could bring you if not exactly acknowledgement, but financial rewards now. Plus you could be amassing some intangible ones along the way to use later on. Such as increased knowledge and expertise. At times you may feel like the person behind the curtain pulling the levers for the wizard. Don’t worry, it won’t always be this way. Whether you know it or not now, you’re building something for your own future even if it’s someone else’s reputation you’re enhancing right now. If you’re out of the professional spotlight for a while that doesn’t mean to say it doesn’t shine on you in other areas. Something close to your heart may not have panned out the way you thought it would recently. But that could undergo a major shift or revival now. Whether it’s your love life or something else close to your heart such as a project, expect life to be reinjected into it. Plus it could return or revive without any effort on your part. It all leaves you with the feeling that some things are meant to be. And that includes being backstage for a bit.

SCORPIO

Capricorn

Pisces

24 OCT – 22 NOV

22 DEC – 20 JAN

20 FEB – 20 MAR

Are you your own best reinvention, Scorpio? You’re the sign of the phoenix and is it now time you arose in a new form? If you’re not happy with the way you look or just feel spring warrants an update, it could be time for an image overhaul or a makeover. Time to ensure that the outer you accurately reflects your innermost being. Chances are when you stop to think about this or you go through that closet, you’re going to discover there’s a discrepancy that needs rectifying. You may surprise yourself with your image choices, but others quickly show they love seeing this new you. Now you’ve begun chances are you won’t stop there as everything from your daily routine to how you work also comes up for rejuvenation. One response to all this is going to be how you suddenly look younger and more carefree. Good times, fun and romance beckon as you show off all you’ve become. You could find yourself not just in the right company, but in the right place at the right time to attract more than just passing attention when it comes to romance or other opportunities. Get yourself noticed this March.

Time to look at those foundations if you want to follow a dream, Capricorn. Shooting for the stars is all very well but your rocket needs a launch pad. March is all about either laying the foundations for that or improving your existing one. Moving experiences could play a major role here with contracts or leases to be signed. Try to get all these finalised by the month’s end if you can. Others could be exploring a different kind of security in the form of a career or work decision that allows them to plan for the long term. What March is all about is decisions that you will live with for a long time to come, so do think them through carefully. If you have not thought very much about your future, you currently have your best opportunity for 28 years to plan this. Mid-month could see news which sets you on your chosen course. Once those big decisions are made, you lighten the load and are free to go enjoy yourself again. That’s the great thing about foundations, they allow you to take full advantage of the good times when they arrive. Let them roll you on into April.

March contains an important new beginning for you. In fact, you may be looking at fresh starts in more than one area. Ensure you ground your decisions in reality and if faced with multiple choices (lucky you!), then go with the one which contains both passion and practicality. Yes you have got to feel it, but you also have to balance this with how do-able it all is and also whether or not other parties can deliver on their promises. Remember, talk is cheap but actions speak louder than words. The same applies to you. Don’t promise more than you can deliver whether it’s in business or in your personal life. Your new cycle contains so much potential for expansion and exploration. Travel is highlighted now as is anything to do with study, the law, mass media and the great outdoors. Above all, no matter how high you fly or far you go, you are being asked to understand your word is your bond. If you want others to keep theirs to you, keep yours this coming year. If you do, you could be amazed at just how far this takes you.

News you have been waiting for could arrive this month especially if revolves around money, finances or your income. This is probably something you have set in motion or have been working towards. Which makes it all the more satisfying for you as you see your efforts pay off right where it matters. I’m not just talking about your bank account but also your selfesteem. All that renewed confidence and empowerment is oh-so-sexy. No wonder others are picking up and are drawn to that vibe you’re broadcasting. No matter whether you are single or smitten, expect approaches and more than one opportunity to flex those flirtation muscles. What you do after that is entirely up to you. This could turn out to be merely the first stage on what is a larger success journey. With the next one due to unfold around mid-year. In the interim, take time to appreciate the moment and all you’ve achieved. And whatever rewards this brings. Some will be expected, others not so. But no matter what form they take, know that you’ve earned them now.

CLAUDIA PEIFER

Claudia Peifer is the owner and ‘Girl About Town’ for the burgeoning online channel TADAH.TV that provides cutting edge reportage and interviews throughout the Costa Del Sol and Europe on everything from fashion to festivals to cars and sport. TA-DAH.TV and Claudia are there to keep you entertained and informed.

WHO ARE THE BIGGEST CELEBS YOU HAVE INTERVIEWED? Singers, by sheer number crunching: Nile Rodgers, Michael Bolton, Kid Creole and Tony Hadley as they’ve all been around for a few years. DJ’s: Sven Väth, Seth Troxler, The Martinez Bros, Carl Cox, Jackmaster & Eats Everything were super fun too. Loved chatting to Eva Longoria, Thom Evans, Ewan McGregor and Vogue Williams, but my weakness really are chance encounters, like bumping into Roger Moore outside the BBC more than once (what a charmer), Paul McCartney at Soho House or having this taxi stop right in front of me with Roland Gift, the gorgeous lead singer of the Fine Young Cannibals, wind down the window, giving me a cheeky grin and a ‘Hello Darlin’! It’s also rather lovely, when Sergio Garcia or Álvaro Quirós come over for a kiss’n a hug. At the opposite end of the scale, Chris Robson, the rugby beefcake who is playing for England at the NatWest 6 Nations actually ran away from me, when he saw me with a mic in hand - he does not like being interviewed, so I know the secret weapon to beat him any day of the week! HAVE YOU HAD ANY FUNNY FAUX PAS HAPPEN TO YOU WHILST FILMING? Well, I’m pleased to say that I managed to avoid doing a ‘Naomi’ on a few of occasions, when doing the catwalk shows for Vivienne Westwood, but I’m not a control freak for nothing: when it comes to own productions, I don’t like to leave anything to chance! However, no shoot ever runs smoothly, so I once found myself standing in the Indian Ocean in Sri Lanka, when a slightly larger wave swept over me from behind, the crew saw it coming and said nothing - thanks guys! The wet t-shirt moment I was OK with, but when it got hold of my bikini bottoms without me realising?? Yep, the joke was on me then... HOW DO YOU COPE WITH ALL THE TRAVELLING YOU DO? Sleep, whenever I can. A rigorous skin care regime and a range of great beauty products to help my skin survive. I love yogilates, power-walking (either in the city or the Andalusian Hills - keeps the legs strong and the bum in shape) and doing 1000m in the hotel pool against the timer. I meditate to keep me grounded and to maintain my inner balance wherever I am – super important when travelling! WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT? Modelling/TV appearances over 15 years, my own fashion label for 9 years and then back into TV in Spain and now with TA-DAH.TV... and I’m still standing – yeah! WHAT IS YOUR BEST CHARACTER TRAIT? Being spontaneous and ready to have fun and a laugh any time, whilst working hard!

110 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 38

WORST HABIT? Very little to zero patience! I want things done now and 110% perfect, and of course, that’s not how the cookie crumbles. Gawd, that’s something I have to work on every day...:-/...not good, I know!!! MOST EMBARRASSING ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE? Oh noooo: a 50’s golden lurex bodice I bought at Camden Market years ago – too cheesy for words! WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW? I’ve got 2 books on the go at the mo, one classic: Charlotte Brontë’s ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls’ by Elena Favilli & Francesca Cavallo - both utterly brilliant reads. WHAT ALL OUR MALE READERS WANT TO KNOW – ARE YOU SINGLE? Very sorry, boys: yep, am currently off the radar! WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A GUY? Fun (I need to be able to laugh with my man), originality, intelligence, substance, and I need a man to be a man! Oh yes, and endless patience...so, not that much really! WHAT COULDN'T YOU LIVE WITHOUT? Laughter, excitement and living life full on. IF SOMEONE ASKED TO BE YOUR APPRENTICE AND LEARN ALL THAT YOU KNOW, WHAT WOULD YOU TEACH THEM? An open mind, that a smile goes a long way and that language is power. WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX? It is such a beautiful city – it has vibrancy, culture and history all in one. WORST THING? Sleep or hit the gym, even at 2am, spa time, but a snuggle in front of a fire with a good book or film also goes a loooong way. I love a romantic dinner too or being whisked away for a naughty weekend, diary permitting. BEST THING ABOUT LIVING IN MARBELLA? The amount of glorious sunshine & daylight, international aspect of the place and the glorious Mediterranean food. WORST THING? Need a plumber, electrician or handyman? Everything takes about 4-times as long to organise as anywhere else I know! SIGN UP TO TA-DAH.TV’S FREE VIP NEWSLETTER AT WWW. TA-DAH.TV AND SUBSCRIBE ON YOUTUBE TOO.
