RENEE ZELLWEGER IN FIRING LINE The Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment debacle continues. This time its Harvey’s accusations making the headlines, accusing ‘Bridget Jones’ actress Renee Zellweger of swapping sexual favours for film roles. The 48-year-old actress was named in a class-action suit filed earlier by six women against the Hollywood producer. In a joint statement, the six plaintiffs said: “We are but six women representing hundreds. Dozens have come forward so far, and many more remain in the shadows, still trying to find their courage." In it, one woman, named as actress Melissa Sagemiller in the document - claimed Weinstein, tried to talk her into having sex with him, allegedly trying to convince her he could further her career in a similar
way like he had Zellweger. According to Sagemiller, he then asked: "Don’t you want your career to be more than just this little teen film?” In a statement to Fox News, a rep for 48-yearold Zellweger denied the claims, saying: “If Harvey said that, he’s full of s**t.” Zellweger first worked with Harvey on the 1998 film ‘A Price Above Rubies’ and the two went on to collaborate on successful Hollywood films such as ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’, ‘Chicago’ and ‘Cold Mountain’ for which she won an Oscar in 2004.
THE ROYAL WEDDING OF THE DECADE Roll on 19 May 2018. While the exciting news of the forthcoming nupitals were only announced on November 27, everyone is already talking about the couple’s big day. It has been confirmed that Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle will tie the knot in St George’s Chapel in Windsor in May in a Church of England ceremony. The venue seats 800 so expect it be a huge affair with a guest list containing Barack and Michelle Obama, Rock royalty including Elton John, Chris Martin and Ellie Goulding, stars of the sports world including Serena Williams, Andy Murray and of course the Royal Family and Meghan’s ‘Suits’ co-stars. The event will be televised like William and Kate’s but unfortunately due to the layout of the chapel there will be no “royal kiss” on the balcony that is synonymous with royal weddings taking place in London, near to Buckingham Palace. Also there will be no public holiday in the UK on the day, Kensington Palace has already confirmed. It is heavily tipped that Prince William will act as Best Man for Harry while Kate, will take a back seat and sit in the congregation like she did at her sister Pippa’s recent

wedding to James Matthews. It is likely that George and Charlotte, the Prince’s only neice and nephew, will act as flower girl and page boy respectively. And now to the most talked about subject matter – the dress! French designer Roland Mouret is currently tipped as favourite to design Meghan’s wedding gown with odds of 13/2 by Bet Fair. Markle is said to be a “huge fan” of Mouret after meeting him on a trip to Istanbul. She has also worn several of his gowns at high profile events. This is closely followed by Alexander McQueen (who designed Kate Middleton’s wedding gown) with odds of 7/1 and Toronto based designer Mikhael Kane with odds of 9/1. Whatever she wears we’re sure this LA beauty (with a half Dutch, English and Irish father and African American mother) will make for the most beautiful bride. The Queen has already welcomed Meghan into the family. The union just goes to show how far the Royal Family has come in recent years that a self-confessed “half black, half white divorcee” has been so openly accepted by the British Monarchy.
NEWS ‘REIGN IS NOT MINE’ FEARS DISICK Scott Disick, Kourtney Kardashian’s ex and baby daddy, believes he is not the father of his youngest son Reign aged 3. Scott, 34, who also has Mason, 8, and Penelope, 5, with Kourtney claims that his youngest son looks “nothing like him” and he has also said that “he has not formed a strong bond” with the child.
Adding fuel to Scott’s fire is the fact that when he confronted his ex about it and demanded a paternity test – Kourtney flatly refused. She has insisted Scott is Reign’s paternal father, despite the pair going through a rocky patch when Reign was conceived back in 2014. Yet another Kardashian saga continues.
LOVE ‘ON THE ROCKS’ ISLAND ‘Love Island’ winners Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies have called time on their relationship blaming hectic work schedules for their separation. The couple who won the 2017 version of the hit ITV show in July had seemed pretty solid up to now – having moved in together and even talking about a big wedding taking place next year. In a joint statement they said: “With sadness, we’ve decided to separate. We fell in love in the villa and want to thank all the fans of the show for supporting us.” Meanwhile, Kem’s best mate from the show Chris Hughes has been getting it in the ear (again!) from girlfriend and fellow ‘Love Island’ star Olivia Attwood for hugging and kissing an anonymous
brunette in an Essex nightclub. Rather than deny the allegations Chris has fessed up saying: "I put my arms round a stranger which I should never have done, and I still don’t know why, but it’s a lesson learnt not to be a drunk t**t. All of us do things we shouldn’t one time or another and do stupid shit. But nothing escalated and it never would. Sometimes it takes an incident to sharpen up in life. Just being a drunk d**k." The reports flooded the UK media (OK, The Sun, The Mirror and Metro Group) about who this mystery brunette could have been? Haha we know. It’s none other than Marbella Rocks intern Alex Weaver, who also starred in the now cancelled ITVBe show ‘Life on Marbs.’
STANDING UP TO BULLYS The shocking suicide of 23-yearold porn star August Ames has left the world in shock. Not only for the fact that she was so young and her death so unnecessary but the fact that she was heavily trolled for the 3 days leading up to her death because she tweeted that she did not want to work with “crossover men” (which in her industry refers to men who also star in gay pornography.) August insisted she was not insulting the gay community but that she wanted to have autonomy over her own body. “I don’t have anything to apologise for! Apologising for taking extra steps to ensure that my body stays safe? F*** you guys attacking me when none of my intentions
were malicious. I f**king love the gay community! What the f*** ever! I CHOOSE who I have inside my body. No hate,” she tweeted. A day later she was found dead having taken her own life. The shocking truth of the matter is that suicide is the number two cause of death of young people after car crashes according to a report by Yale University. A recent British report found that at least half of the suicides of young people are caused by bullying. August’s brother and husband have condemned the cyber bullies and have called for harsher laws to be put in place to prevent young people from being attacked on social media.

EARTHTONES
Get out of the typical male style rut of wearing black, blue and white by embracing the Natural Earth Tone trend, which fashion insiders have predicted will be huge for Spring/Summer 2018. Choose natural camel, earthy reds, slate grey or pale yellow as championed by Dries Van Noten (left), Lanvin (middle) and Prada (right). If you can wear a flash or two of one of these colours then good on you. Or go one better and wear all the Earth Tone colours at once. Kanye West nailed the trend perfectly and also brought in a touch of khaki for a military inspired look.

Out with the old, in with the new. Don’t let these 2017 fashion faux pas find their way back in your wardrobe: ROMPHIM - You’ll be pleased to hear the Romper Suit is most definitely out this year (or ‘Romphim’ as it was affectionately known last summer.) It can be worn as a joke on stag weekends though. CROCS – A short lived trend back in 2017 – thank god. Don’t get these bad boys out again (especially any man who may have picked up the fur lined ones, in haste, in 2017.) KURT COBAIN SUNGLASSES – The Nirvana frontman coveted these in the nineties and they briefly enjoyed a resurgence last year. Not anymore – the feminine roundness to these god awful white eyewear does not flatter ANY man. OVERSIZED EVERYTHING – Jackets, trousers, tees – yes 2017 was a year of supersizing. While a long T-shirt is still on point everything else oversized can go to your taller friend! Oversized in 2018 will make it look like you’ve shopped in the boyswear department of El Corte Ingles.
Lightweight premium knit trainers are all the rage… think Kanye’s Yeezy or these brand spanking new Chanel & Pharrell Williams limited edition black and white trainers. A great cheaper alternative are the Adidas Original Goretex.

WHAT'S TRENDING... WINTERFLORALS
Florals are no longer the go-to Summer fabric. Every designer played with the Winter Floral trend on the runways so you can now rock the ditsy print in the coldest months while still looking incredibly chic. Our favourite designer nod goes to Isabel Marant who teamed two purple floral prints with a black leather basque and brown over the knee boots. Elie Saab also gave a nod to the pink hue trend with a gorgeous sheer floral print fabric yet toughened it up for Winter with a long burgundy velvet cape. This spot on trend, like Gucci’s metallic interpretation also shown here, is all about turning these girly prints on their head. Can you do Winter Florals? If the designer versions are out of budget this Jan/Feb we have some great high street alternatives for a fraction of the price in Skinted V Minted.

Everyone is lusting over Selena Gomez's new blonde hue and luckily for you wannabe-blondes, Selena’s hairstylists Riawna Capri and Nikki Lee have just revealed how to achieve the cool colour they are dubbing, Nirvana Blonde. And the good news is it's possible to go from brunette to Cobain in just one day, although it is a fairly complicated process so make sure you consult with your stylist to see if you can do all out blonde. Capri wrote: "When your client brings in a picture of #NirvanaBlonde, you pull up this informational instagram and let them know it took 9 hours, about 300 foils, and 8 bowls of bleach, all with 2 stylist[s] working together simultaneously. The process isn't easy, but the results are clearly worth it. It was a nice long patient process of baby fine slices, then going back and opening each foil and reapplying, but done in one sitting," she writes. "Anything is possible in one day, it just takes time and patience to maintain the integrity of the hair."

RECIPE SUMMER-IN-WINTER CHICKEN Pining for summer? This simply seasoned chicken fried with beautiful, ripe cherry tomatoes in a creamy sauce is guaranteed to hit the spot. Add a dollop of pesto for an extra layer of nutty flavours. Quick and easy to make - taking only 25 minutes.
2. Continue cooking for 12-15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through. Season all over with a little salt and pepper. 3. Halve the tomatoes and throw them into the pan, stirring them around for a couple of minutes until they start to soften. 4. Reduce the heat and stir in the pesto and crème fraîche until it makes a sauce. Scatter with a few basil leaves if you have them.
INGREDIENTS (Serves 4)
5. Then serve with either rice and salad or mash and broccoli.
• 1 tbsp olive oil • 4 boneless chicken breasts • 200g pack of cherry tomatoes • 3 tbsp of crème fraiche • 3 tbsp of pesto (if required) • Fresh basil • Salt and pepper • Rice & salad • Broccoli & mash
METHOD 1. Heat the oil in a frying pan, preferably non-stick. Add the chicken and fry without moving it until it takes on a bit of colour. Turn the chicken and cook
WINE MATCH Chicken can be served so many different ways you might wonder which type of wine makes the best pairing. The truth is there’s no single answer it depends on your own personal taste and the way it’s cooked - but here's a simple guide. Given that chicken is a light meat, it won’t surprise you to learn that white wine is generally a more flexible match with smooth dry whites like Chardonnay happily partnering a great many chicken dish. However for a cherry tomato laden sauce like this month’s recipe, you could always try a medium-bodied southern French or Spanish red like a Côtes du Roussillon - or even a robust Merlot would suit.

THE COMMUTER
FRANZ FERDINAND
I LET HIM GO
The commute from the suburbs to the big city just got deadly in The Commuter. This marks the fourth collaboration between Liam Neeson and acclaimed director Jaume Collet-Serra, who have previously worked together on ‘Unknown’, ‘Non-Stop’ and ‘Run All Night’. Be sure to check this latest Lionsgate blockbuster out as Liam Neeson has recently announced that he's retiring from action films. The actor revealed he has one action movie coming out in January, (referring to this film) and then, "there might be another," although that mystery project would be the last one, confirming that he's completely done with the ‘Taken’ franchise that made him a star. In this action-packed thriller, Liam Neeson plays an insurance salesman, Michael, on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realises a deadly plan is unfolding and is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy. One that carries life and death stakes, for himself and his fellow passengers. Jaume Collet-Serra directs ‘The Commuter’ from a script by Byron Willinger and Anthony De Blasi. If this is in fact Liam Neeson's last action-thriller, it certainly looks like he's going out on a high note.
Yes they’re back! ‘Take Me Out’ singers Franz Ferdinand have returned with news of their long awaited new album and a UK tour. Their new title track ‘Always Ascending’ is gaining considerable traction in the charts and shows that the Glaswegian group are back with a bang. After teasing fans with a snippet of new music in November, the Mercury Award winning indie veterans have unveiled the lead single and announced that new album ‘Always Ascending’ will be released on February 9 2018. Drawing on the band’s more synth-based electronic sounds, the track is a propulsive and experimental turn for Franz, and an ambitious departure from their more guitar-driven roots. “In terms of the sound, the song is quite representative of the whole record,” Kapranos said. “This one sounds quite different from our previous records – it’s a bit wider and less of a ‘straight up guitar’ album. It’s just a taster. There are many more surprises to come.” Franz Ferdinand, originally formed back in 2002, have been notable for being one of the more popular postpunk revival bands, garnering multiple UK top 20 hits and selling over 3 million albums worldwide. They have been nominated for several Grammy Awards and have received two Brit Awards – winning one for Best British Group – and an NME Award.
The haunted mother of murdered toddler James Bulger has told how watching CCTV of his abduction gave her hope he was alive – because his kidnappers were children. Denise Fergus tells how she watched grainy footage of the harrowing moment her two-year-old son was snatched and thought he might have a chance. Two days later little James’ battered body was found on railway tracks, the victim of a prolonged and savage assault by two 10-year-old boys. Denise gives her heartbreaking account in a new book. Even the title – I Let Him Go – stirs harrowing emotions and memories of the awful day in 1993 when James was snatched away. “When I gave birth to my baby I was full of hopes and dreams for him. But the one thing I didn’t ever imagine was burying my son’s tiny body after his murder. No parent wants to outlive their child or say goodbye – it’s impossible to imagine – but my final hours and minutes with my beautiful James will be forever etched in my mind until my dying day.” This year marks the 25th anniversary of James’ murder on Merseyside, a crime that shocked Britain. Denise was in the New Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle, when her boy was snatched on February 12, 1993. She went into a shop and momentarily let go of her son’s hand to take out her purse. Denise never saw him alive again. Denise’s heartrending account will be revealed in this book by Blink Publishing.

TA-DAH.TV You may have noticed the effervescent TA-DAH. TV crew and presenters at numerous hotspots in Marbella and the Costa Del Sol recently. Well this bunch do get around! Aiming to provide cutting edge reportage at Europe’s hottest events they have certainly already made their mark in our hometown covering the Global Gift Gala with Eva Longoria, schmoozing backstage at the MTV Gibraltar Calling Festival and more recently taking time out with ‘Rocky’ and ‘Expendables’ star Dolph Lundgren at the Marbella Awards. And that’s just on Spanish soil! We were lucky enough to catch up with lead presenter and girl about town Claudia Peifer to “interview the interviewee” on her burgeoning online TV channel and what TA-DAH.TV has planned for the future. Q: A European-wide online TV channel in English - how did this come about as a concept, and why European wide and not just one country? A: Travel nowadays is not an issue anymore, many people can be ‘at home’ in different places and countries, just like on the Costa del Sol! Previously called jet-setters, today it’s not a luxury anymore for the chosen few, but a lifestyle choice and requirement to live a fulfilled and exciting life. People speak more than one language, are excited by experiencing other cultures and like the feeling of a wider community - it is those viewers we’re addressing at TA-DAH.TV!
Q: Can you give us some examples of TA-DAH.TV’s content? A: We are an entertainment & lifestyle driven channel, set-up and filmed in magazine style format, offering bite-size TV on demand: stuck in a queue, waiting for a plane at the airport, or just wanting to escape daily life for a moment. We're covering festivals, concerts, parties, exclusive interviews with bands, acts & DJs, but also red carpet and lifestyle events, the latest in fashion & beauty, as well as luxury hot spots for travel and sports.
Q: HQ is in London, where else is TA-DAH.TV based?
A: In Spain our offices are on the Costa del Sol... and now we have a base in Germany too! We film major events on the Costa to also accommodate those foreign residents who are not always here, so they can still enjoy what’s happening and not miss out. Essentially, that’s what we’re all about: if you can’t be part of it, watch it on TA-DAH.TV!
Q: You’re also about introducing new places, sports, ideas and events…can you tell us more?
28 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 37
A: Yes, many of the continental activities may not be known in other countries, so we take great care in choosing events, locations or indeed people when it comes to interviews, for their unique characters, their originality or just the crazy fun they provide.
Q: 2017 was an incredible year for the channel - what would you say were your highlights to look back on? A: Wow, there were so many, and so many varied subjects! Paris Fashion Week was excellent, scouting for special labels that would transcend the single season. Snowbombing this year was pretty awesome: filming at a secret gig that not even the DJs knew anything about, was hilarious! Vienna in June was also a treat: Coldplay, then talking to the brilliant designer Lena Kvadrat about her exciting label and hearing her input about the wave-making fashion exhibition The Vulgar-Fashion Redefined, which started at the Barcican and is now showing in the Fashion Museum in Hasselt/Holland. Talking music, we had great fun when we bumped into Jackmaster (gotta watch the exclusive interview, he’s so
Q: What is different about TA-DAH.TV compared to other channels? A: The biggest thing for us is that we want you to have fun watching whatever is on! Be inspired to go somewhere, to experience new things and have the feeling, when you watch our shows, as if you’re there...right in the middle of what’s going on! Whether location or subject-wise, widening your horizon is a great thing, living it is even greater! Explore where
cool), when we were in London for Elrow Town’s gig in the Olympic Park. They entertained over 25,000 ravers in 2 days and the Spanish party organisers came up trumps for this show! We then saw them again at their closing party in Ibiza at Amnesia…you get the picture! In between, we filmed at Málaga’s first art fair, which was just amaaaazing, and also caught up with the infamous Marbella resident Dirk Vermeire, a Belgian designer who created the most incredible collection of skull chairs, and with whom we had a world exclusive ahead of the line’s launch at Maison & Objet in Paris - watch it in our Style-Living section! Another highlight was to see Sergio Garcia win the Andalucía Valderrama Masters 2017, which was super special this year as he also won the Masters in the States (on Seve Ballesteros’ birthday!) To have all these great European players compete at Valderrama in Sotogrande, a much loved golf course by the whole tour, and watching Sergio win in Spain was a real present!
Q: What does 2018 have in store for you? A: In January we’re filming in Barcelona: we simply adore The Magic Fountain as a spectacle and then we’ll conduct more interviews with the punters, as we’re working on a special programme on denim - Spanish denim design is huge, and their designers produce excellent collections…never mind Zara, just look at Marques Almeida and the success their denim collection is enjoying.
you may have not been before, or join in where you know the crowd goes, because you’ve been going there for years - or just check things out because you’ve heard about this or that event and want to know more.
'PixRase' February, we’re off to Iceland (nooo, not the supermarket) first to do a show on the place as a short trip location, as Reykjavik is famed for its music scene, but the team is really looking forward to hit the countryside, which is legendary and to catching active Geysirs, so it’ll be a variety of things we’ll be picking up there. Then it’s London Fashion Week and the whole circuit kicks off again…

In her acting career, Presley played the role of Jenna Wade on the long-running, hit television series ‘Dallas’ and starred with Leslie Nielsen in the three highly-successful ‘Naked Gun’ films. What many people do not know is that Priscilla was only 14 years old when she first met Elvis back in 1959 at a party in Germany while Elvis was serving in the army. He was said to be captivated by her and they formed a close “friendship”. When Elvis returned to the US they stayed in touch over the phone and
finally in the Summer of 1962 she was allowed to visit but on strict terms by her parents that she was to remain in LA and be supervised by Elvis' parents. The King had other ideas though and they jetted off to Las Vegas where Priscilla first admitted to trying amphetamines and sleeping pills with her beau. To throw her parents off the scent Elvis had Priscilla wrote postcards that were mailed everyday to her parents house in Germany before they left. In 1963 Priscilla was allowed to move to the US and shortly before Christmas in 1966 Elvis proposed. They married in Las Vegas on May 1, 1967 in Las Vegas and exactly 9 months later they welcomed their first child Lisa Marie Presley. However, Elvis career took off again and the couple’s relationship came under strain when Elvis spent considerable time on set and on tour. They divorced in 1973 although remained firm friends, even leaving the courthouse on the day of their divorce hand in hand. Thereafter Elvis’ career took a downward spiral into drink and drugs. The King was pronounced dead on August 16, 1977 after suffering a heart attack at his Graceland home. Priscilla and Lisa Marie, were his only living heirs.

Our cover star Priscilla Presley is an American actress, business woman, mother and grandmother. Priscilla also happens to be 72 years old and doesn’t in our opinion doesn’t look a day over 50. MOHR KEET
Bungee Jumping is one of the most intense things you can do to feed your adrenaline rush addiction. Young people tremble at the thought of tackling this death defying feat. And so did 96-year-old Mohr Keet but he still took the plunge and entered the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest bungee jumper ever. As if that’s not enough, Mohr jumped from South Africa’s Western Cape which is one of the largest bungees in the world with a 708ft drop. The World War II veteran, who spent three years in prisoner of war camp in Germany, said, “I believe you just have to do things and live life to the full.”

The brazen New Yorker had a long career in ballet and dance from a young age and decided there was no reason why she couldn’t continue her very gymnastic, flexible pursuits well into her golden years. Phyllis has also remarkably taught and build a business around her love of the tango, and still sells DVD and does classes – proving that age really is just a number.
THE MOTHER
DALJINDER KAUR Daljinder Kaur, a 70-year-old woman from India, welcomed her son into the world after two years of IVF treatment with her 79-year-old husband. Baby Armaan was born on 19 April 2016, weighing 4.4 lbs according to the National Fertility and Test Tube centre. The couple from Amritsar completed IVF in Haryana, to the north of the country in 2014, after Kaur started to lose hope of ever conceiving naturally. VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL THE KEY TO UNLOCKING EVERLASTING LOVE With Valentine’s Day just round the corner we thought we’d put trivial gifts and naff cards to one side and concentrate on the real crux of the matter… what makes a relationship work? With divorce rates sky rocketing to near the 50% mark we spoke to couples that have stood the test of time and questioned what really makes love last?
FRIENDSHIP IS AS IMPORTANT AS LOVE
When asked the question: “What’s the secret to a long, happy marriage?” a common answer from people in long marriages was: “I married my best friend.” Similarly, from those whose marriages did not succeed, you all too often hear: “Well, we were good at love, but we never learned how to be friends.” You have to be friends and share common interests. Whether that is something as trivial as both sharing hobbies or having the same sense of humour, when looks start to fade it’s the true friendship union you have that will make you last. James Hall, a 54-year-old investment banker said, “The secret to my successful 20 year long marriage is I married my best friend. After a string of frivolous relationships with model types, who to be honest never stimulated me intellectually, I met my wife who was a partner in a law firm, she had a cracking sense of humour and the guttsiest personality and we just clicked and became friends. After 6 months she was transferred to the States for work that I just knew I had to have her by my side. To cut a long story short after a flight out and romantic proposal – she felt the same, said “yes” and we have never looked back.
SHARE SIMILAR CORE VALUES
Opposites may attract, but they don’t always make for great and lasting marriages. You are much more likely to have a satisfying companionship for life when you and your partner are fundamentally similar. And the most important thing to look for is similarity in your core values. Take Emma Sylvester, who at 87 has been married for 58 years. As she put it with a smile, “It’s quite an achievement.” “I didn’t know it when I got married, but in retrospect I know it’s important to have the same basic values. In other words, if you’re a free spender, marry somebody who understands that. If you’re frugal, you need to marry somebody who understands that, because money is one of the stumbling blocks in marriages. And fortunately we had the same values on most things. Because of this, we really didn’t argue. And we really didn’t agonise over things. We came to our decisions by just realising that we had usually the same goals. We both believed in education. We wanted to be moral according to society’s standards, to raise our children to be good citizens, and to be responsible in terms of finances.” As boring as it may sound - it is these basic yet solid foundations that will help you achieve long lasting love.
LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE
According to royal biographer Ingrid Seward the key to a long lasting relationship is laughter. The Queen and Prince Philip, who have just celebrated their milestone 70 year wedding anniversary, have a great relationship and
38 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 37
FEATURES they laugh all the time together. Apparently the Queen is an excellent comic and despite her incredibly OTT posh accent can put on a fantastic Liverpudlian, Irish and American accent. “I think the secret is they laugh together, we all know that life is very, very difficult but to see the funny side sometimes but a shared sense of humour can go a long way,” Seward said. Halle Simpson, a mum of two said about her 15 year relationship, "We just enjoy each other's company. We're playful and tease each other in a light-hearted way. Life can be so hard, and finding ways to make each other smile seems to be the antidote for us." Psychologists agree too. There have been many studies on couples that share laughter having a more solid union than those that have a more ‘serious relationship’ without humour.
KNOW WHEN TO LEAVE ARGUMENTS
It is important to know when to leave an argument or how to settle disputes peacefully. Invariably if you spend that much time with one other person, tensions are going to brew from time to time. Apologise, forgive and make up with each other. If you threaten to break up with each other after every fight or argument, you will never really resolve anything. Caitlin Moore, 42, who has been married for 11 years put it simply: “Take breaking up off the table,” she said. “Talk through disagreements as long or as many times as it takes until the issue is resolved and both of you feel comfortable moving forward. “Sometimes me and my partner find it easier to leave an argument rather than fight it if we know there is no winning solution. I was committed to my partner Tom being my life partner and when we both realised this and took the “I’m going to leave you card” off the table we learned to back down in arguments that although seemed important at the time - we knew were not make or break.” A good tip to cooling off arguments is to talk about the good with the bad. Start off by saying how much you love the person, and how committed you are to making the relationship work. Then go into your complaint, if you have one. It will make your partner less defensive. Also learn to leave arguments – sometimes who was right or wrong in a situation is unimportant. Just get on with your life and your day to day living/loving.
ESTABLISH TRUST AND LOYALTY
You can’t have a relationship without trust. Trust is founded not just in loyalty to that person but respect towards them. Be able to trust each other in everything, keeping private your partner's innermost secrets, fears and struggles. You can also help your partner overcome them. When you say you'll do something, follow through. Keep your word. Realise that fulfilling simple, basic commitments every day lays the foundation of trust that extends to more challenging situations. “My partner had trust issues from a previous relationship where her boyfriend had cheated on her,” Mike says. “It took time for her to build trust in me and our relationship because of this. I found that by proving to her that I was loyal and trustworthy by keeping a personal secret of hers, keeping appointments and sticking to my word, she learned to trust me.” As hard as it may be try and leave any emotional baggage from one relationship when moving onto another. Loyalty and trust is key.
KEEP THE ROMANCE ALIVE
When you have been in a relationship for a while, romance does tend to go out the window to make way for everyday life: time for careers, juggling kids, finances etc. But it is really important to make time for that special someone in your life. This doesn’t have to be expensive gifts or over the top romantic gestures – just try to keep that glimmer of romance you had in the start alight. Once a month, get a babysitter go out for dinner and try to make that extra time for each other. Most people don't try romantic activities because they
MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 37

FEATURES simply don't know how. Here’s a hint: there are no secrets to romance. Most of the time, everything we need to know is right under our noses. Maria, a busy mum of three, thought the romance had gone from her relationship when her husband came home without the kids from school one day. ”Urm, where are the kids Paul?” I said. “They’re at my mothers,” he replied. “I have booked us a trip to Paris for the weekend.” I literally couldn’t believe it and the trip from start to finish was magical taking in the sights, going out for dinner at lovely restaurants. It was just what I needed and definitely injected that much needed spark and spontaneity into our married life.” While Paris doesn’t have to be on the cards, a bit of thought and planning and a romantic gesture every so often does go a hell of a long way.
ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER
Spend time apart from your partner. It will help your relationship to grow by not crowding each other and give you the much needed opportunity to miss each other so when you are together you can say how you’ve truly missed that person. It doesn’t have to be weeks on end (although that works fine too) it can just be a day, night or weekend away with friends. Amber Collier, a 28-year-old PR executive says she makes sure she goes for regular weekends away with the girls and it has really helped her have a stronger and healthier relationship with her partner Jack. “Jack really misses me when I’m away and we have a time ‘catching up’ when I’m back,” she laughs. “I really believe it is important to not neglect your friends. A lot of people enter relationships and dump their friends. Don't forsake your friends; they'll help you discover yourself and stay grounded while you're in the relationship,” Amber says. “Besides who wants to live in the pocket of your other half 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you don’t have the chance to develop your own friendships and the joys you get out of having these relationships makes you a better person to be around.” Amber and Jack are due to get married in 2019. Amber is going on two hen weekends and a week long holiday with her old school friends. We spoke to Jack about whether her absence makes his heart grow fonder. “I don’t like her going away but I really miss her when she’s gone and we have a great time catching up when she’s back. So yes I agree absence does make the heart grow fonder.”
SEE YOUR FAMILY AS ONE
You can’t choose your partner’s family and we all know in-laws can be hard to deal with, but if you want to have a good relationship with your partner it is important to learn to get on with them. Katie Simpson, a relationship psychologist, says: “Don't try to find fault. We've eager to dismiss the blemishes of our own parents but point out the blemishes of our partner's. Try to break this cycle. Give both sets of parents the benefit of the doubt before your judge them. “Seeing your combined family as one, whether you’re married or not can really help overcome this. Try to find the good in them (and in everyone for that matter) and you will find your life and relationships a lot easier to deal with,” she advises. Besides if a wedding or long term partnership is on the cards you will have to spend more time with these people, so you might as well make sure you’re having fun whilst doing so.”

STEAL HER STYLE
PRISCILLA PRESLEY
HIGH HEELS
LOUBOUTIN PIGALLE, €470 Christian Louboutin fan Priscilla still wears her with pride despite being in her seventies. She has toned down the sky high 5 inch version in favour of this more modest 3 inch pair. A great investment as they go with any outfit including trousers and jeans.
HAIR
L’OREAL, €8.50 Priscilla’s hair is naturally light red but throughout her years as Mrs Presley she dyed it black on her husband’s request. Following her divorce in 1973 Priscilla has been blonde, red, auburn, mahogany and copper. She favours L’Oreal 4.54 Natural Dark Copper Mahogany over other hair shades.
Priscilla has always remained at the forefront of fashion. Flamboyant, glamorous and always on point, the Queen of Rock and Roll’s dress sense remains instantly recognisable today. Many saw her style influencing the likes of Jackie Onassis in the sixties and Amy Winehouse in the noughties. At the age of 72, Priscilla still manages to steal the red carpet in her demure gowns and cocktail dresses, like at the MOCA Museum Ball in Los Angeles where she opted for a black, structured silhouette dress.
STRUCTURED DRESS
AQAQ, €170 UK based fashion brand AQAQ have a fantastic range of structured maxi and midi dresses that emulate Priscilla’s style in her black gown, originally from Versace. The playful folds of the fabric in this ‘Iris’ AQAQ dress give a modern feel to a classic black cocktail dress.
NECKLACE
COAST, €29 This ball necklace, featuring a black diamante design, adds instant glamour to any outfit and is a good replica of the Chanel version she adorned at the MOCA Museum ball and a fraction of the price.

HAIR & BEAUTY
BEAUTY TIPS FROM ISABELLA Isabella Löwengrip is the founder of beauty brand Löwengrip Care and Color; a blogger, entrepreneur and multi-millionairess at 27, the Swedish born beauty has it all. Isabella took some time out of her busy schedule to catch up with Marbella Rocks to reveal all about her beauty routine and beaugoning business as part of a three part special. When I started my blog at the age of 14, the mainstream media didn't take me seriously at all. I remember the Swedish media laughing at “influencers” and saying, 'look at those young women trying to do business with blogs'. We didn't give up though, and I'm very proud of it. Under the pen name Blondinbella, I quickly became one of the most-read bloggers in the Nordics, and today some 1.5 million people visit my site every week. While some of my contemporaries partied away their earnings, I chose to invest in new ventures. In 2012, beauty brand, Löwengrip Care & Color (LCC), was launched which was ranked as Sweden's fastest-growing beauty company last year. “I dealt with acne for longer than I would have liked. Not just acne - the cystic acne that makes you feel like you’re helpless, waiting for the next bomb to go off under your skin. My skin and scalp were also hyper sensitive and I suffered from allergies. When I founded Löwengrip I decided no more. Enough was enough. I searched in vain for products tailored to my specific skincare needs – highly effective products to balance and nourish, carefully adapted for sensitive skin and scalp. At the same time, quality in the €200 range, but at an affordable pricing. Products similar to La Prairie or La Mer in quality. Since products as such were nowhere to be found I decided to create them myself. It takes time and patience and sainthood and a lot of trial and error to create the perfect products but in the end it has all been worth it.

After a few years of being acne-free, except the odd breakout or during pregnancy or when traveling I faced new skin problems. That’s the thing about skincare: There’s always a new challenge to overcome. So I’d bypassed acne, but what was next? Looking in the mirror a nasty thought crept into my mind: Was I…ageing all of a sudden? Had I just left one unsavoury thing for another I had to fix? I’m all for being mature, but I still want to look the best I can and with everything my skin has endured with stress, travel, lack of sleep It makes me think less about “fine lines” and more about “journey,” which is a nice change of pace. I now try to have more balance in my life and take time to rest and I have also switched my diet to being completely plant base. However I would still say my secret weapon to great looking skin is my “post-acne pre anti-aging routine” that I would like to share with you. I use a lot of hydration, hyaluronacid and Sepitonic M3 which clears up any hyperpigmentation or scarring that’s lingering. Active ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid, AHA, and BHA boosts the cell renewal process. A sample routine might look something like this (mine):
• Wash your face with warm water and a light foaming, soap-free gel that effectively removes make-up and impurities. I use Cell Renewal Facial Cleanser” • Follow up with a hydrating toner—something as simple as the Moisture On The Go • I skip oil because no matter what anyone says, it doesn’t work for me • Serum is key and I use it day and night followed by Cell Renewal Facial Cream • Most important of all always use a high SPF like Protect My Face At night, I swap out SPF for Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair (+ moisturiser on top). I think it just helps with hydration and tone, which suits people of all ages. Cell Renewal Facial Exfoliant comes into the mix every other day to help with cell turnover; on alternating days, I mask with City Living or Sleeping Sensation to keep all that moisture in. I can also endorse the eye cream, it’s key for every working mum on the go. Löwengrip Care & Color is now available at “The Nail Place” in Marbella. To read more about Isabella please visit

2018 LOVE IS IN THE AIR
M The newest edition to the booming fitness industry on the coast, Luke is owner and coach of Marbella´s first “women´s only outdoor boot camp company” – Miss Fit Marbella. Luke specialises in fitness for women, (weight loss and toning) and is a strong believer in training outdoors, which is why, all of his sessions are based on the beaches of Marbella, Puerto Banus and Nueva Andalucia. Expect to find articles that focus on exercise for the female sex, tips on how to achieve your body goals, help on those stubborn problem areas, education of nutrition and lifestyle and how exercise doesn’t have to be boring! “Don’t mistake fitness for a gym! Fitness is more than that, it is a lifestyle and can be anywhere or everywhere!”
E, YOU AND THE GYM The gym for the majority, is like Marmite, “you either love it or hate it!”ert that very same day. Well, I can tell you that the love for the gym has been firmly on the rise and in 2018, the forecast looks the same. And I am going to give you 5 reasons why, you should, if you’re not already, following the crowd and falling in love with the gym! P.S if you are on the hate side, you better start learning to love it! I guarantee, you will at some point, hit that eurika, lightbulb moment in which you wish you had started years ago!
Reason 1 “I'M TOO SEXY FOR MY SHIRT” There is a strong connection between going to the gym and getting a better body! Amazing I know. I hear so many people, whining about not having the body they want, feeling conscious and jealous of others, but they aren't willing to put in the hard work and hours to get the body they want. We spend hours of each day, scrolling through our body idols and wishing to look like these people. But what we forget is, everyone of those IG sensations or stars have, in fact, worked their butts off to get the results they have and we want. It is not pure genetics, it is not luck, it is about putting in the hours down at the gym! So if you want to love the way you look, you need to get in the gym and put in the hard work.
Reason 2 “LOVE YOURSELF” A recent study has shown that people who exercise and see improvements, success and the ability to overcome hurdles they previously thought impossible, result in a having huge rise in self-esteem. So not only does going to the gym, help you get the body image you want, it also helps improve how you feel about yourself and the skin you live in day to day. A healthy body, leads to a happy mind! You may not necessarily turn into a cover model straight away, but by improving your fitness, feeling stronger, losing a few
72 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 37
pounds or starting to see those abs again, you will be amazed at how good you feel!
Reason 3 “FRANKIE SAYS RELAX” The gym, well more so exercise, is known for releasing a hormone called serotonin. Serotonin is a brain chemical and neurotransmitter that has a few functions, one of which is regulating mood. In very simple terms, a higher level of serotonin directly correlates to increased happiness and lower levels link to depression or feeling down. Exercise is proven to increase serotonin levels via producing more tryptophan (an amino acid that manufactures serotonin) and proven to increase the speed at which serotonin is released. Therefore, exercise makes you happier! And exercise has been found to decrease levels of stress and anxiety. So if you want a happy mind, make sure you fall in love with the gym.
Reason 4 “SEX IS ON FIRE”
motivated to gym more and work harder from the prospect of a possible meet. So if you are looking for love, look no further than the new hottest spot in town, the gym! There you have it! My top 5 reasons why 2018 should be the year you fall in love with the gym, so that you fall in love with yourself and potentially someone else!
REASON 6 “RED RED WINE” If you, like the majority enjoy a vino or cinco, you will be amazed at how regular exercise can inhibit your alcohol cravings. And it doesn’t just stop with alcohol, but with fast food also. Despite a recent Harvard study that showed increased exercise led to increased drinking; I am going to call BS on this correlation without causation study and say that in all my years of training and training clients, the road to getting fit goes hand in hand with eating and drinking better! My clients can speak on my behalf for that one Harvard!!
Again, multiple research papers published in the Journal of Sport and Exercise, have found that exercise has had a direct impact on the sex drives of both men and women. As little as 20/30 minutes, 3 times a week has shown significant increase in libido. Research also shows that, the difference in our body image and self confidence, see point 1 and 2, further added to the sex drives of the men and women in question. Happy ending all round. So, if you want more steamy time with a loved one, a partner, someone else’s partner (it is Marbella) make sure you get down to the gym now! After all, our testosterone levels start to diminish from as early as 30 years young, so make sure you are raring to go and keep that spark in your love life.
REASON 7
Reason 5
Reason 8
“I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS”
"I'M A DREAMER"
The last few years, dating apps have been the biggest meeting point for singletons, however recent research in America has suggested the tide is turning and more people are looking for love in the gym. For one, you know they are real, secondly, you probably have at least one similar interest, whether it is loving the gym or hating it and our testosterone levels are higher during and up to 30 minutes post exercise. 47% of people asked said they would like to meet someone in the gym and 32% said they were
Exercise = Better Sleep! Over 40 in depth studies since the 90’s have all shown the direct correlation between increased exercise and increased length and quality of sleep. We have two main types of sleep, REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep; a state of semi sleep in which we dream and Slow Wave Sleep; a state of deep sleep in which our bodies recover. Exercise was shown to decrease REM sleep and increase the Slow Wave Sleep (a winning combination.)
"MONEY ON MY MIND" Yes, a gym membership costs money, as does personal training and supplements but going to the gym can in fact save you some €’s. We eat out less, we tend to drink less and just one debaucherous night out in the port could cost more than all of your gym expenditures for the month! It’s not for everyone but I can count on one hand the number of times I have been out out in 2017, and I have saved 1000’s by doing so, plus I wake up every Sunday with a clear head. Priceless.

MONS CALPE SUITE y
ou are certainly in for a treat with this one. The stunning restaurant, wedding and event venue, Mons Calpe Suite, is situated at the top of the Rock of Gibraltar and has panoramic views of two continents and two oceans. On a clear day you can see the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and Ceuta in North Africa. On the other side of the restaurant you can view the beautiful Spanish coastline and views stretching out miles into the Mediterranean Sea. It is simply breathtaking. Top this all off with a tranquil setting, Michelin star worthy food and unparalleled service and you have one very good reason to travel to the top of the Rock. It is advisable to get the MH Bland Cable Car to enjoy your brunch, lunch or event at Mons Calpe Suite. You can park easily at the foot of the Rock. The Cable Car ride itself is good fun as you are hoisted 426m (or 1,398 ft) and you can enjoy great views of Gibraltar and a great experience – if any guests are afraid of heights do not fear – the ride lasts less than 5 minutes and regularly undergoes rigorous daily checks and annual mechanical maintenance by the
Swiss engineers. Once you reach the top you are usually welcomed by the famous Gibraltar monkeys who have resided happily on the Rock for hundreds of years. It is estimated that there are 300 Barbary Macaques there at present living in 5 troops at the Nature Reserve and upper part of the Rock. They are cheeky monkeys though – be warned. On our visit a pair of red shoes were removed from a tourist’s Harrods bag! While the shirt and trousers were thrown down – this particular Macaque seemed to take quite a shining to this bright footwear. They are usually friendly however and are only on the search for food so don’t be alarmed! On our arrival to the restaurant we were greeted with a warm welcome by staff and shown to our seats in the main restaurant which had impressive floor to ceiling glass windows. The interior is charming including marble, wood and lots of natural elements – the result is chic yet homely.

GASTRONOMY Lemon Yoghurt Dressing, which was fantastic – a great mix of flavours of the salmon went perfectly with the crisp, fresh salad. From the Quick Bites menu we also shared the Beef Slider Burgers which were cooked perfectly and beautifully presented on long slate dishes. For the Main Course we went for the Braised Beef Cheeks with Horseradish Mash, Winter Vegetables with Red Wine and Tarragon Essence. The Beef was soft and succulent and the jus so flavoursome – a great winter warmer meal with lots of healthy vegetables and the horseradish kick to the mash was a great touch. Our other taster went for the Garlic Chicken Kiev which was a whole fresh chicken breast with plenty of garlic butter filling with a crispy
There is a great selection on the Mons Calpe Suite menu – so something to suit everyone. Among the impressive starters, which change monthly, you can sample delights such as Goats Cheese Panna Cotta, Chicken Liver Parfait and Celariac, Walnut and Apple Veloute. We opted to share the Smoked, Poached and Cured Salmon Terrine with Mixed Leaf, Asparagus and Cucumber Salad with
breadcrumb coating accompanied with Dauphinoise Potatoes. On recommendation from our waiter on white wines we went for the House Sauvignon which was light and crisp and went perfectly with the meal. For dessert, feeling rather nicely full, we opted to share the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Caramel Sauce and Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream. This was well worth tasting and was a perfect finale to the fantastic meal. All in all our trip to the Top of the Rock was exceptional. A great day out combined with the fun of the trip to the Rock’s summit, a terrific three-course meal with fabulous service that exceeded all our expectations. We will definitely be back soon. See you up there!

We are very patient and encouraging teachers, and we assume no prior dance skills, strength or flexibility when you come for your first class. So if you are worried about not having a dance background, don't be! Most of our students have no prior dance experience. Our beautiful dance studios were designed to create an atmosphere where you can feel comfortable and sexy. We offer challenging and fun dance classes for all ages.
You'll make new friends and have a laugh - all while developing your strength and flexibility. You won't believe what you are capable of!
Come and give pole dance a try - we hope you love it just as much as we do!

A BAD DAY?
HILARIOUS PHOTOS REVEAL PEOPLE WITH SUCH POOR LUCK THEY MAY AS WELL HAVE STAYED IN BED. WHEN YOU THINK YOU'RE HAVING A ROUGH DAY WHERE NOTHING'S GOING YOUR WAY, IT'S OFTEN HELPFUL TO REMEMBER THAT THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE WORSE OFF THAN YOU. PHOTOS SHARED ONLINE, SHOW PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD WHO PROBABLY WISH THEY HAD STAYED IN BED, INCLUDING A MAN WHO UNWITTINGLY LEANED AGAINST A WET PAINT SIGN TO ANOTHER WHO WALKED DOWN THE AISLE OF A PLANE WITH TOILET ROLL STUCK IN THE BACK OF THEIR JEANS. A BRIDE WAS LEFT IN FITS OF LAUGHTER WHEN HER DAD, PROUDLY STANDING NEXT TO HER FOR A PHOTOGRAPH, ENDED UP LOSING HIS TROUSERS - WHICH FELL DOWN JUST AS THE CAMERA CLICKED. AND A MOTORIST RETURNED TO THEIR CAR TO FIND A NOTE TO SAY IT HAD BEEN HIT - HELPFULLY ATTACHED WITH A SANITARY TOWEL.
This person took to Snapchat after becoming unable to get into their house after snapping the key in the lock
If you think you were having a bad day, think of this poor man who has somehow ended up in this rather mucky situation
When you had one too many on a work night out and know you have to face your colleagues the next day
Curiosity got the better of this pup, who ended up with his head stuck in this brick wall
This motorist was not impressed to find a note written in lipstick stuck on her window with a sanitary pad

This unsuspecting man is about to get a nasty surprise when he moves away from this pillar coated in paint
After spending hours making a cheesecake, this person was livid when they opened the fridge door and it splattered all over the floor As if the sandwich getting stuck wasn't bad enough, this person then bought a drink in the hope it would knock it down
This person was in shock to find their car covered in holes and a large pick axe sticking out one side
This woman must have regretted her choice of dinner after it exploded in the microwave
Whoever caused this pile up is looking at an incredibly hefty insurance bill
A group of do-gooders went out of their way to help this limo driver get out of a sticky situation
This inquisitive little girl wanted to know what the button on her dog does, so she pressed it
What could be worse than getting loo roll stuck in your trousers and then parading down an airplane aisle?
With incredibly bad sunburn across her shoulders and revealing perhaps a little more than she bargained for, this woman's festival outing went a little askew
This motorist was completely unaware of the message that had been scribbled on the back window
There's nothing more frustrating than buying a pair of sunglasses only for one of the lenses to fall out
The irony of this man's shirt proves to be too much, as he tries to get his boat out of the reeds

ROCKS ASTROLOGY FORECAST Aries
Gemini
Leo
21 MAR – 20 APR
22 MAY – 21 JUNE
24 JULY – 23 AUG
You may want to keep the party going on into 2018, Aries and you’re torn between enjoyment and newly awakened ambition. Which will win out? There’s no reason to say you can’t have both but this calls for a compromise on your part. One big compromise may indeed have to be made in January. This all revolves around whether or not you want to keep something going – or let it go. This can be anything from a romance to your work. You’re looking closely at an area and asking if you are getting back as much as you are investing or are in fact, being short-changed. You’ll try renegotiating but if that does not work the compromise you’ll make is walking away in order to have something better in the future. Better that than to continue to compromise your values.
Act with confidence, surety and conviction now, Gemini. Time to reap what you have sown and if your harvest is coming in short, to own the fact this is down to you and no-one else. The start of 2018 is all about taking responsibility for your own life and your own decisions. In other words – owning it. Own your choices and own your power too. If you are facing blocks or frustrations you have the ability to change that. The New Year also offer you the opportunity to look to where you may have given away your power to others. Is there a balance that needs to be redressed or do you need to reclaim it? By the end of January you’re in peak position to tackle this if need be. And say once and for all what needs to be said.
You’re mistress or master of the art of negotiation as 2018 swings into effect. This is not a time to sell yourself short in any area – be it personal or professional. You know when to compromise on an issue and also when to stick to your guns. You could be asked to do this across a couple of key areas at the start of the year. Some of you could negotiate a new job or work arrangement. Or perhaps just more ‘me’ time in your daily schedule. Others could be looking at a key relationship and realise it has become somewhat out-of-balance. There’s no tip-toeing around this. The only way is to sit down and tackle it head-on. It may be that nobody’s the bad guy here. The situation just crept up on you and some minor adjustment gets you back on track. Single? Fate could just be at work.
Taurus
Cancer
Virgo
21 APR – 20 MAY
22 JUNE – 23 JULY
24 AUG – SEPT 3
Want something more? Chances are it’s not more things you crave but a bigger slice of life, love and experiences. There’s some things money just can’t buy and if we want them, we have to make them happen. That’s your task as we begin 2018, Taurus. This may mean making some changes first or stepping out of your comfort zone. If things stay the same we get more of the same and it seems you’re now way past accepting a re-heated future. The process may begin as you take a long hard look at your home and lifestyle. Does it truly sustain and support you or have you just dug yourself into a rut? Being a fixed sign you tend to resist change long after it should have taken place. What we resist persists – if only the need to do something. Don’t be afraid to embrace change and let the magic happen now.
Partnerships – past, present and potential dominate the start of 2018. You’re ready for something more serious or to take an existing relationship to the next level. You are also asking questions about who is there for you. Who do you know has your back or is there for you if need be? Don’t be surprised if you are seeing whether or not people measure up to this. You want to plan and build for the future and if not exactly ‘putting a ring on it’, need to know whether or not this is something long term. See this as a reflection of your values and how you value yourself. If you’re single and seeking something lasting, you’re not unafraid to state that upfront and quickly weed out anyone who isn’t a serious contender for your heart. Here’s the funny thing about people who ask for what they want – they usually get it. Get ready for the serious side of love now.
Something is about to be revealed for what it truly is and not what you would like it to be. Are you ready, Virgo? Of course, what you think it is and what it actually is may be one and the same. If so, then congratulations. You have something beautiful that’s made to last. However, others will find that person, job, situation or even something they used to love to do isn’t all it was cracked up to be. Refrain now from putting lovers especially on a pedestal as a big disappointment can ensue when they come crashing down. With anyone or anything new entering your life at the start of the year, take your time and reserve judgement for now. The 90 Day Rule isn’t a bad way to go whether it’s that new job or that potential love interest. Adopt a ‘wait and see’ approach as what you see may surprise you.

Your home, your apartment, family, roommates if you have them, your lifestyle and what makes you feel secure as well as your long term career and ambitions will play major roles in 2018. Chances are you will be facing a shift. Most probably around where you are living or even how you live. Your career is also in focus with many of you not just changing jobs but completely changing direction. This may have been on the cards for some time as many of you may have found your path no longer holds the same meaning for you. Or else no matter how hard you have knocked, those doors remain closed. These are all signs it’s time to make a new start. A new path may contain far more rewards than your old one. And I’m not just talking about money but satisfaction. Don’t be afraid to strike out.
If money or lack of other resources is holding you back, 2018 promises to be a game-changer for you, Sag. However, it may be necessary to reign in that generosity your sign is known for. The bottom line is the only way to save money is to spend less of it. I know this is not what you want to hear. Having said that, you have the opportunity to lay down a financial foundation to support your future and all things Sag which usually involve experiences. Remember, adventures need to be bank-rolled. And you need a foundation from which to launch them. Getting this may involve you working diligently at something behind the scenes or for which you have to wait to see the rewards materialise. But manifest they will. It’s all about long term planning for you now Sag as opposed to living in the moment. Think of this as investing in your future. The pay-off is you get to design it.
The New Year sees you examining key relationships and looking at whether they measure up. I know that all sounds very calculated and this is a good word to apply as it is all about checks and balances now. Are you seeing a return on your heart’s investment? The books have to balance in some way now and if not, you may be prepared to cash in rather than invest further. This year has a touch of fate and karma about it. People will cross your path that are ‘fated’ to influence it in some way. This is a good time to just step back and see who is helping you and who hinders you. Karma is at work and it’s pay-back time. You have either helped or hindered this person in the past and this includes past lives. Something hidden gets dragged out into the light of day. This could be someone’s real motives. Secrets won’t stay hidden now. Ensure your life is an open book.

How are you evolving, Scorpio? You are after all the sign of rebirth and reinvention. If you haven’t already updated your image, the New Year marks a time when some adjustment may pay off in more ways than one. People are going to be looking at you differently. It’s important now to be seen in a positive light. One of the hardest tasks we can undertake is to step outside ourselves and look at how we come across. But this is yours to explore now. People in positions of authority are not only watching how you come across but what you say too. It’s time to ensure your word is your bond. To speak and then follow through and above all, be seen as someone who knows what they are talking about. Don’t fudge things and whatever you do, don’t pretend you know the answer when you don’t. Nobody knows everything. Follow these simple rules and you could be due for a helping hand up the ladder of success for 2018.
Who are you really, Capricorn? This is the question you will need to answer and with some authority behind it, over the next 2.5 years. Are you your job title, your possessions, your salary, your corner office if you have one, your trophy partner (if you have one of those)? You may be in the process of reaching for any, some or even all of these things. But as you do, understand that these are merely ‘things’ and do not define you. 2018 marks a time when your ambitions are stirred like no other. You’re capable of amazing things and scaling untold-of-heights. But don’t let this be the be-all-and-end-all. Doors can open now and please remember – they can swing both ways. They can let you in or be marked ‘Exit’. This can be a time of rich rewards and let’s face it – you are the sign prepared to go the distance. But practice non-attachment and know you are far more than just your achievements.
2018 could see new and possibly influential connections being made. One in particular could have a massive impact on how your future unfolds. This may or may not be a romantic connection. People who are older than you or else just come across as ‘old souls’ have something to offer so be open to connecting with people from all age groups and don’t let age one way or another be a stumbling block to love. It’s all just a number. You’ve a yearning for a deeper connection and intimacy than you’ve achieved before. It’s more than just a physical connection you’re seeking but a soul one. We can usually only achieve this from experience. Lovers who have been on a journey or come from a place or galaxy far, far away could invite you to join them. There’s something larger than life about love now. Ask where you would like to journey and what you want to experience on the way there. Chances are that a travelling companion will turn up.
