BIEBER & BALDWIN ENGAGED Another week, another whirlwind romance; this time Justin Bieber has popped the question to model girlfriend Hailey Baldwin during a romantic getaway to the Bahamas. Reports of the union will surely be breaking hearts all over the world, but namely Selena Gomez who has been linked to the singer for the past 8 years. Meanwhile Hailey and Justin only recently hooked up at Coachella in May this year. Hailey Baldwin, daughter of Stephen Baldwin – who has starred in ‘Born on the 4th July’ and ‘The Usual Suspects’ has made a name for herself modelling in Vogue, Marie Claire and Spanish Harper’s Bazaar. She is niece to more famous uncle Alec Baldwin who has starred in over 100 films. Bieber, now 24, has only been romantically linked to Selena and a handful of other girls – yet his father obviously thinks Hailey is the one for him posting on his Instagram, “Proud is an understatement. Excited for the next chapter.”
ROBBIE WILLIAMS AND WIFE TO SHAKE UP X FACTOR Simon Cowell’s new ‘X Factor’ judging panel consisting of former Take That singer Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda (who is a regular on the ‘Loose Women’ panel show) will be “major entertainment on the show” according to former bandmates Howard and Gary. It marks the first time a couple have been picked to judge and Barlow, who appeared on the show for 3 years from 2011, indicated it will make for TV gold viewing. “You’ll definitely going to see him turning the air blue, so tune in. He’ll be disappointed if they don’t let him!” he added. Meanwhile the fourth judge has been confirmed as former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, who helped Simon pick his final acts at judges houses in 2015. Alongside chief judge Simon this marks the first time in the show’s 15 year history that the panel has been made up of three men and one woman.
SPOTTED IN MARBELLA Our hometown has always attracted the who’s who of A-list celebrities. This month saw ‘KUWTK’ star Scott Disick ascend on Marbella to enjoy 4 days of partying at top venues including News Café and Mirage nightclub. Elsewhere, Anthony Joshua took time out of his busy training schedule to visit the Costa Del Sol for a week long family holiday, lapping up the sun and sea whilst also paying a visit to Ultimate Performance where he posed happily for selfies with fans.

news KYLIE SHUNS LIP AUGMENTATION AND LOOKS FAB FOR IT Kylie Jenner, has finally shunned the lip fillers she’s famous for and looks totally amazing for it. The 22-year-old reality star and make up mogul admitted that she has not pumped up her pout anymore while messing around with gal pal Hailey Baldwin in a series of Instagram posts. "I got rid of all my filler," Kylie wrote, as she celebrated her "8 year anniversary" with Hailey (who has just got engaged to Bieber as mentioned above.) And fans were loving her new look, saying, "I like your smaller pout it looks so natural and cute." "Oh my god kylie you look so beautiful the way you originally are now don’t
change you are sooo gorgeous with the natural you yassss slay," said another fan. "Looks far better!" wrote a third, while others begged the KUWTK star not to go back to her over-plumped look. It comes just a day after Kylie admitted she hates the shape of her lips, with the reality star overjoyed that her baby daughter Stormi hasn't inherited them. "Stormi reminds me, she's my twin. Now she's like, looking a lot more like her dad. The one thing I was insecure about, she has the most perfect lips in the whole entire world. She didn't get those from me," she said.
ENGLAND PLAYERS DID US PROUD
CAROLINE FLACK & ANDREW BRADY SPLIT ‘Love Island’ host Caroline Flack and her ‘Apprentice’ fiancé Andrew Brady have called time on their relationship after a 7 month whirlwind romance. According to reports Flack, 38, discovered Brady, 27, had applied to be on the E4 singles show ‘Celebs Go Dating’ despite the fact he had asked Caroline to marry him a mere month earlier. Fed up with his “web of lies” Caroline pulled the reality star up on his misdemeanour and despite Andrew “being filled with regret” by the decision the couple were not able to work things out. The split was announced by Andrew on social media on Tuesday 10th July and by the Sunday Caroline appeared on her ‘Love Island’ spin off show ‘Aftersun’ without her ring. Caroline confirmed: “I’m sad to announce that Andrew and I have decided to part ways. Unfortunately it was not to be. I wish him all the best. At least there’s a villa waiting for me. It’s back to the ol’ grafting.”
After a crushing 2-1 defeat by Croatia in the World Cup semi-finals, our boys were left heartbroken yet visibly consoled by their wives and children as the realisation hit that “it’s not coming home.” The most poignant pics of the England players and their families inundated social media. Kieron Trippier who scored the first goal in the fifth minute, hugged his toddler daughter and wife Charlotte in the stands, as did Kyle Walker carrying his children on each arm while Jordan Pickford, with his head in his hands, was comforted by his fiancée and father. It was a heartbreaking moment for the young England team after coming so far in the competition. Apart from ex footballer and pundit Roy Keane’s dig at Stones for not keeping his eye on the ball allowing Croatia’s Mario Mandzukic to deliver the sucker punch in the 109th minute, there has nothing but praise for England. Prince William tweeted from Kensington Palace that he "couldn't be more proud" of the England players, adding: "You've had an incredible World Cup, made history and gave us fans something to believe in." Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton said our boys showed "real grit and determination and should hold their heads up high." Meanwhile Kane’s fiancée Kate Goodland shared a pic of Harry and the three lions emoji writing, “Boys done us proud. We love you.” Presenter and former England player Gary Lineker said he was ‘utterly choked’ but the "young side gave absolutely everything," adding: “It's a huge step forward and they'll only get better in the future.” Roll on the Euros in 2020 and Qatar in 2022.

WHAT'S TRENDING...
MODERNTAILORING
Suits in summer, yes please. Despite this ridiculously hot weather we are having wearing a dapper suit to a wedding, the races or even an evening BBQ party is a must for any style savvy guy. You will look both smart and sexy if you can grapple the modern tailoring trend. So what’s to know….
STATEMENT CROP IT
Go for a statement design like tropical print to really get heads turning, or play it cool with a subtle check design to shake up your officewear. For an easy look, match it with a plain white shirt or make it stand out with some simple, block colour accessories.
For a modern take on a timelessly classic suit – opt for a cropped trouser leg. The look is very ‘Henley Regatta’ and will also give you the chance to show off some suede boat shoes, funky sliders or sandals – anything goes when modernising this suiting choice.
PASTELS
Nothing screams summer more than pastels and this also really softens and modernises the trend for summer. Be brave in pink, powder blue, mint green or soft lilac (as pictured here) to look on trend.

First it was perms in the 80’s, hair straighteners in the 90’s and now apparently extensions are all the rage. These days men are going to new lengths to be as well tressed as their female counterparts. According to Great Lengths, who offer ethically sourced, premium bonded 100% human hair, some 10% of its £4 million annual sales are attributed to men. Sabrina Wageman, owner of Cappuccino in Puerto Banus said she has noticed the rise in Marbella too. “It’s great that men are getting in on the action. We have noticed more customers asking for longer or thicker styles that can’t be achieved with their own hair and that’s where extensions come in. It may only take a few rows to get the style they want but it can really transform the look.” Amanda Jackson, Great Length's 'principle educator', backed this up saying "there are men who want an instant effect instead of having to wait for their hair to grow out to achieve the style they are looking for. Once they are in, the extensions last for up to three months, and they're not clip-ins it's not obvious that you are wearing extensions at all. They are bonded into your existing hair." Hair brand Great Lengths are also offering a special Men-hancements service which helps to cover hair loss and thinning hair, as well as letting men emulate their style influencers such as Harry Styles and Bradley Cooper. There’s no limit to the booming male grooming market which has seen a huge rise, up from £574m in 2012 to £608m in 2017 in the UK, according to Statista. It seems anything that women can do – men can do better and that includes hair, waxing, brows and even manicures, pedicures and make-up. There’s no shame or stigma for men to enhance what they have already got anymore. For more information on hair extensions and other services call Sabrina and her team at Cappuccino on +34 952 814 322 or see their website at www.haircappuccino.com.

POWERFUL MAKE-UP 2018 is the year of the woman. With the 100 year anniversary of women winning the right to vote and the #metoo campaign gaining traction, women everywhere are gaining a voice. And funnily enough this has directly translated onto our fall make-up trends. Well why not, we use our mouths to speak so we need our lipstick to pack a punch. Our beauty editor has rounded up the hottest make-up trends from the Autumn/Winter 2018 catwalk shows and as you can see, it is all about empowerment.
RED ALERT
IN A FLUTTER
BRIGHT COLOURS
Powerful pillar box red lips were on show at Brandon Maxwell, Rochas, Erdem and Alexander McQueen. There was no escaping the statement lip which screams power and confidence. The boldest reds on the market are MAC’s Ruby Woo and Kiko’s Velvet Passion.
At Givenchy, Valentino and David Koma it was all about the eyes with lashes literally being caked in mascara. Think more is more here ladies, not the usual less is more. Elsewhere, classic Sixties eyes with flicks were seen backstage at both Moschino and Anna Sui.
Bright coloured eyeshadows were the order of the day at Marni, Dior and Prada. The hottest colours this fall are paintbox yellow, green and pink. Dior also applied coloured eyeliner in red, yellow and pink to match their sunglass range.
TOUGH HAIR Scraped back ponytails and topknots were on show at Chanel, twists were favoured at Philosophy and chignons at Merchant Archive. These sleek up do’s definitely display a “don’t mess with me” kind of attitude.

RECIPE BREAD-BAKED CHICKEN & SUMMER GARDEN SALAD Bake chicken legs in a bread crust to lock in the moisture and keep them really juicy, then add the crust to tomato, carrot and leaf salad for extra crunch.
INGREDIENTS (Serves 2)
l 2 chicken legs For the bread crust: l 200g strong bread flour, plus extra for dusting l 5g fast-action dried yeast l 1 tsp caster sugar l 1 tsp picked thyme leaves
the parcels on a tray lined with baking parchment. Can be prepared a few hours ahead and chilled in the fridge until ready to cook. 3. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Bake the chicken parcels for 45 mins, then remove from the oven and leave to stand for 20 mins. Carefully open the parcels with a sharp serrated knife, then lift the chicken onto a baking tray. Grill the chicken for 5 mins to crisp up and colour the skin – or use a blowtorch if you have one, which would be faster and more even. 4. Chop some of the bread parcel into chunks and grill until crisp, then transfer to a bowl and toss with the lettuce, carrot and tomatoes. Dress the salad with the olive oil and the vinegar. Serve each chicken leg with some salad topped with the anchovies, and with a blob of salad cream on the side.
For the salad l 2 handfuls mixed lettuce l 1 carrot, peeled into ribbons l 1 heirloom tomato, cut into wedges l 2 tbsp olive oil l 1 tbsp white wine vinegar l 4 anchovy fillets, cut lengthways l Salad cream, to serve
METHOD 1. To make the crust, combine all the ingredients with a pinch of salt. Pour in 120ml of warm water and bring everything together, then knead for about 10 mins to form a smooth ball of dough. Divide the dough into two balls, then roll out each one to a thickness of 0.5cm on a lightly floured surface. 2. Lay a chicken leg in the middle of each sheet of dough, then fold in the sides to form parcels – a bit like a pasty. Put
WINE MATCH This is a perfect, light summer dish that would lend itself well to one of the top three best-selling white wines on the market. Namely a Chardonnay (but select one with made little or no oak contact) a Pinot Gris (a fruitier of all the French wines) or a classic Italian Pinot Grigio would also make a fantastic choice for this meal, with the pear and apple notes carrying the delicacy of the chicken and salad beautifully. Salut!

HERE WE GO AGAIN Ten years since its original outing ‘Mamma Mia!’ is back with all the original stars of the 2008 film including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan and Dominic Cooper and with a few new cast members. ‘Baby Driver’ actress Lily James is playing a young Donna and singer Cher, is playing her forthright mother, in a role she relinquishes. Dame Julie Dench, who also appears in the film, reveals her fears when she was first told about the sequel. "My first reaction when my agent told me they were making Mamma Mia 2 was, ‘Oh God no, it is going to be awful'. But the script was so good. I think it is fantastic. I think it is better than the first one. I couldn't see how it could work and what they could do with us.""But the script was so good. I think it is fantastic. I think it is better than the first one." ‘Mamma Mia!’, based on the musical of the same name, made $615m (£466m) at the box office. Film pundits are expecting ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ to be the blockbuster hit of the Summer as it is suitable for all age ranges.
ALBUM REVIEW
ARIANA GRANDE – SWEETENER The pint size pop star is back after a catastrophic 2017 which saw 22 fans, many of them young children, killed at her Manchester Arena concert last May. Her fourth studio album entitled ‘Sweetener’ contains several self-penned tracks alluding to the bombing including the recently released first single ‘No More Tears Left To Cry.’ The album, with 15 tracks in total, actually points toward Ariana becoming a much more grown up artist with more emotive lyrics than her previous albums. She has also worked with Nicki Minaj and Pharrell on new electro beat track ‘The Light Is Coming’ and with producer Tommy Brown, who’s worked with Grande since the ‘Yours Truly’ days, is also producing a new ballad called ‘Better Off.’ There will also be a cover/ remix of Imogen Heap’s classic ‘Goodnight and Go,’ a song Ariana has been a fan of for a long time. ‘Sweetener’ is her first full album in two years, following from 2016’s ‘Dangerous Woman.’ Released on August 17th through Universal’s Republic label, Ariana Grande is looking bigger and better than ever before, despite all her troubles.
BOOK REVIEW
THE SHEPHERD’S HUT – TIM WINTON ‘The Shepherd’s Hut’ by Tim Winton is a story of survival, solitude and unlikely friendship. Most of all it is about what it takes to keep hope alive in a parched and brutal world. Tim Winton’s last novel ‘The Riders’ was about a journey with a potentially perilous ending, and this new novel, voted one of the 10 Best Fiction Books by The Independent, revisits some of these themes. Jaxie Clackton is a deeply damaged teenager who flees from his dead parents’ house in Australia to finally reunite with the one person in the world he can “be himself” with. Jaxie is a foul-mouthed fugitive – his voice is reminiscent of Irvine Welsh’s characters – but he is also incredibly articulate and crafty. When he meets Fintan MacGills, a mysterious fellow outcast and rambling Irishman who lives in an old shepherd’s hut, Jaxie allows himself to form a wary and strange friendship. This book is not for animal lovers or the squeamish, as it contains a lot of eating of innocent goats and kangaroos… you have been warned! This is a great book for all ages and reading abilities and unlike some other fiction books out there you will learn a great deal from reading this.

SOULFRITO
You heard it here first, Soulfrito, the original Urban Latin Music Festival is coming to London and Marbella in 2019 among other top European destinations. Having just sold out the prestigious Barclay Centre in New York with over 11,000 guests in attendance and performances from Bad Bunny, Jaden Smith, Hood Celebrity, A Boogie, PNB Rock, Bryant Myers, Miky Woodz and De La Ghetto. We were fortunate enough to catch up with Melissa Giles, Founder at Soulfrito, to get the lowdown on the Urban Latin Festival that’s been entertaining US audiences for over 15 years across the pond, and will no doubt be getting us all fired up here next year. Can you tell our readers more about Soulfrito?
Soulfrito is the nation’s only annual Urban Latin Music Festival that brings together and showcases popular, new and emerging artists from each genre of Urban and Latin music. The festival attracts second and third generation Latinos that are predominantly bi-lingual, US Hispanics but it’s also a festival for anyone and everyone.
When was Soulfrito established?
Soulfrito was originally established in 2002 in Miami, Florida.
What was your first ever event like compared to today?
When we started the festival in Miami it was very much a grass roots event and heavily promoted via guerrilla marketing and terrestrial radio, you didn’t have social media
or music streaming services that you have today that are helping a new wave of emerging independent artists develop fan bases much more quickly than ever before. As the promoter and producer of the show when it originally started it was really keeping an ear to what was pulsing in the street, nightclubs and DJs. Those channels of discovery are still as equally important today, but what is different now is that technology has provided multiple platforms for discovery which widen the talent pool for new emerging talent at the festival. The format of the festival has remained the same, which has always been about catering to the diverse musical interests of young Latinos in the US and abroad who don’t primarily only listen to Latin music, whether that be Hip Hop, Trap/Latin Trap, R&B, EDM, Reggae, Reggaeton, Dancehall or other forms of genres that appeal to the youth culture.
What made you come up with the idea for an Urban Latin Music Festival?
I was 18 at the time and growing up in Miami, we listened to Latin music naturally because of our roots or because what you may have listened to at home during a family gathering, but growing up in America like any other youth, Hip Hop & R&B music were always dominant part of our culture regardless of your background. There wasn’t a platform at the time that combined genres and catered to the US Latino’s youth musical tastes. There were Latin festivals, there were hip hop concerts but there wasn’t a platform at the time that combined the two or meshed multiple music genres in a way that was authentic and relevant to Latino youth culture.
Latin Music has always been associated with ‘bringing the party’ - being up tempo, sexy and fun - is this why you have endured your continued success?
Music is universal and the festival speaks to our audience in a way that is relevant and authentic, touching on their diverse cultural nuances and tastes in music. The festival originated
34 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 43
in Miami which is synonymous with Latin culture and has a sexy and fun appeal that draws tourists to the city. Similarly, I believe the festival has a unique universal appeal that draws in cultural enthusiasts who are not just Latino.
Now you’re fully established in the US (selling out the Barclay Centre for two years in a row now - a great accolade), we hear you are bringing the festival to Europe, namely London and Marbella, is this true?
Yes, we are expanding the festival to select markets worldwide where we believe there is an interest for this style of show.
How will the festival differ in Europe?
With live shows in any market you have to know your audience and look at way to curate a show that is going to be culturally relevant to that local market. Not all markets are alike.
We hear Soulfrito has been a driving force in helping to establish new acts, can you name a few?
Soulfrito has been a platform for many artists at the very early stages of their career before they went on to achieve mainstream success. Some of those artists have included Pitbull, Wisin Y Yandel, Romeo Santos (Aventura), Cardi B and Bad Bunny to name a few.
Can you name other past performers?
Past performers have included Nas, Don Omar, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Juicy J, French Montana, Fat Joe, A Boogie wit da Hoodie Jaden Smith, PNB Rock, Uncle Murda, Fetty Wap, Farruko, De la Ghetto, Jon Z, La Insuperable, Miky Woodz, Amara La Negra, Fat Boy SSE, Hood Celebrityy, Lou got Cash, Zion Y Lennox, Cosculluela, Young M.A, Bryant Myers, Mozart La Para, Yunel, Almighty, El Alfa, Anonimus, MoMo, DJ Lobo, DJ Camilo and DJ Enuff, City High, Gangstarr, Victor Manuelle, La India, Hector "El Torito" Acosta, Angie Martinez, Lala Anthony, Fatman Scoop, Adrienne Bailon, Julissa Bermudez, Tony Touch, Nina Sky, Frankie J, Kat Deluna, Oro Solido, Tulile, Fulanito, Huey Dunbar, Joel Ortiz, Don Chezina and several others.
If the European expansion plans go well, do you have plans for more destinations, if so where?
If there’s an audience in a market we believe has in interest in what Soulfrito represents our plan is to expand to such markets.
What’s your ultimate goal for the Soulfrito brand?
Soulfrito is a lifestyle brand, ultimately it’s how we can diversify the brand and business into other areas including digital media, content other ancillary businesses where consumers can connect with the brand.

SHAKIRA
t’s looking like 2018 is Shakira’s year. The multi-award winning artist is embarking on her biggest World Tour to date and is nominated for the Best Latin Artist in the MTV VMA’s. ‘The Hips Don’t Lie’ singer got her nod at this year’s MTV VMAs and is one of the 6 Latino artists going head-to-head in the Best Latin Artist category alongside Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Jennifer Lopez, Luis Fonsi and Maluma. Shakira is hotly tipped to take home the gong having already scooped the 2018 Heart Radio Award for Best Latin Album of the Year. In a move that other pop star mums are sure to follow, Shakira has taken her husband Gerard Pique and two sons Sasha and Milan on her ‘El Dorado’ World Tour as the 1st leg of the 54 date tour coincides with the boys summer holidays. Pictures of the family on social media have received praise by fans as the family visit the cultural hotspots of Europe. Raised in Baranquilla, a district of North Columbia, Shakira wrote her first song at the age of 8 and was signed to her first record label at just 13. Shakira has also managed to scoop 2 Grammy Awards, 7 Latin Grammy Awards, 5 MTV Music Awards and 7 Billboard Music Awards. Not bad for a girl from the deepest darkest depths of South America. Throughout her career Shakira has not only been a singer, but also a songwriter, record producer, choreographer and model. Her all-round personality means that she has not only written the majority of her songs but also created the dances in many of her music videos, including the video for the hit single ‘Waka Waka’ which had over 933 million views and became the 9th most watched video on You Tube ever. Although Shakira’s first two studio albums were not hits, her third album Pies Descalzos immediately gave her prominence in the Latin American market. With the success of other albums, such as Dónde Están los Ladrones, she became a superstar in the Spanishlanguage market, known for her strong vocals and incredible hip-shaking and those killer belly dance moves. In 1997 Shakira made the decision to move herself and her family to Miami where she began to learn English. In 2001 her debut English language album Laundry Service reached no.3 on the charts, selling more than 200,000 copies in the first week of release. Her album was full of major hits such as ‘Wherever, Whenever’ which became her breakthrough hit in the US, and after selling 10 million copies worldwide, it became the biggest hit of 2001. Shakira soon became the highest selling Columbian artist of all time, and her records such as ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ began to top the charts gaining her several number ones. She also began collaborating with massive US artists such as Beyoncé

Knowles. Their song ‘Beautiful Liar’ was released in 2007 and quickly became number one in several European countries including France, Germany, Italy and the UK. By 2012 her US album sales alone had reached over 10 million. Shakira had created a worldwide phenomenon, which combined Latino, Arabic and hip-hop music together and reached out to such a variety of people that she was adored worldwide. Her multitude of talents was broadened again when she was confirmed a Star Judge on popular NBC show ‘The Voice’, the fourth series aired in March 2013, just months after Shakira had given birth to her first child, Milan. Her personality and likeability definitely won over the hearts of the nation and she rapidly returned for the sixth series after taking a year off to spend time with her son and husband, professional Spanish football player Gerard Pique, who recently celebrated playing 100 Caps for Spain during the FIFA 2018 Russia World Cup. Although it hasn’t been all fun and games in Shakira’s personal life. Shakira previously dated Antonio de la Rua, son of former Argentine President Fernando de la Rua. In 2013, de la Rua made headlines when he sued the Latin songstress for $100 million, charging that he had helped create some of his ex’s hit songs as well as the “Shakira brand.” Fortunately for the singer the superior court dismissed the lawsuit and she was not made to give La Rua any part of her income.
Even with their net worth of 220 million dollars Shakira doesn’t let her WAG status or fame get to her head. In 2010 the United Nations Labour Organisation honoured her for her philanthropic efforts and she became a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. Along with these charity efforts she also created the Pies Descalzos foundation, named after her first hit album. The foundation was set up to help children in her native country, Colombia, to receive a quality education. Her charity work was also emphasised when she threw her world baby showers in the upcoming weeks to her second son´s births. Shakira organised and ran the event asking for gifts to be donated to babies that were in need all over the world. She claimed that “she hopes her charity efforts will make her sons proud.” Their first Virtual Baby Shower was a huge success; over 80,000 children were vaccinated against polio, nearly four tons of therapeutic food helped children suffering from malnutrition, plus around 1,000 anti-malaria bed nets and nearly 200,000 oral rehydration salts sachets were distributed. It is clear that Shakira is no longer just a singer, her talents vary so far and wide that she has become an exciting role model for younger generations. Her sons would indeed be proud. AGE: 41 STARSIGN: Aquarius HEIGHT: 5”2 FAVOURITE FOOD: Seafood FUN FACT: Her husband and her share the same birthday but she is 10 years his senior. Marbella Rocks Top 10 Hottest Supercars of 2018 W
hat an incredibly competitive year 2018 has shaped up to be in the very upper echelons of the supercar market. At Marbella Rocks, we love high-octane thrills - so here’s a look at some of the most exotic, highpowered, road-going and track-ready machines of the year. Each entry offers a unique blend of razor-sharp handling, exhilarating performance and presents no shortage of jaw-dropping aerodynamic wings, scoops and vents. Here’s a peek at our favourites from the biggest names in horsepower, including McLaren, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and one very fast Ford.
1. McLaren 720S Taking our hot spot, in pole position for 2018 is McLaren’s all new 720S. From its clinically executed design to the exquisite exterior styling; with smooth lines hiding all manner of vents and aero ducts, plus some rather slick gullwing doors, the 720S is truly a feast for the eyes when witnessed in the metal. But it’s under the skin where the McLaren hides all its best tricks. Powered by a 4 litre twin-turbocharged V8, developing a monster 710bhp, the 720S can launch from 0-100kph in a lightning 2.8 seconds and will push on to a top speed of 341kph. The motor sits within a carbon-fibre tub, dubbed ‘Monocage II’, making the chassis both stiffer and lighter than its predecessor, the already sublime 650S. Prior to ticking option boxes on your order form, the 720S will cost around €240,000. But there are plenty of additions available to tailor the car to your own bespoke style - from more exposed carbon fibre, to transparent panels above the gullwing doors for a full panoramic effect. The 720S is an absolute treat for the senses and has helped redefine the benchmark for manufacturers that dare to compete in the same league.

2. Ferrari 488 GTB In close second place - the Ferrari 488 GTB. Anyone with reservations about a mid-engine turbocharged Ferrari that isn’t an F40 needn’t worry. The 488 GTB is a worthy spiritual successor. Replacing the mighty 458’s naturally aspired 4.5 litre V8, is a slightly smaller 3.9 litre twinturbocharged V8. Whilst the soundtrack isn’t quite as spine-tingling, the performance numbers certainly are. 3 seconds dead to 100kph thanks to a whopping 661bhp and 560lb ft of torque, delivered through a punchy 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. And with all that power, the 488 requires some serious downforce. Its dazzling exterior utilises all the hottest motorsport derived aero tech Ferrari has to offer and is presented within a smooth and highly refined package. The finished product is sleek and superb, with form following function at every subtle lip and hollow. To get your hands on such a weapon will cost you
somewhere in the region of €206,000 base price. But as with anything from Maranello, that number is surely due to rise significantly once you’ve perused the extensive options list and have customised everything down to your preferred stitching pattern.
3. Lamborghini Huracan Performante In third place is our first big-displacement, naturally aspired V10 - courtesy of Lamborghini. If turbo-charging isn’t quite making the hair on the back of your neck stand up in the way a rev-happy N/A motor can, then look no further than the Huracan Performante. With over 631bhp on tap from the massive 5.2 litre V10 powertrain, the Huracan offers hypercar levels of performance, packaged with all the flare, drama and outrageous design cues we’ve come to know and love from Lamborghini. It’s beating V10 heart is mated to a 7-speed LDF dual-clutch transmission, that’s good for 0-100kph in just 2.9sec from standing - a truly staggering feat. Need to know more? The Huracan also offers the ability to shoot from 0-200kph in just 8.9 seconds. Prices start from around €235,000 before options. After recently beating the Nürburgring lap time of the Porsche 918 hypercar by a solid 5 second margin, it could be considered somewhat of a performance car bargain.

4. Ferrari 812 Superfast Potentially one of the most aptly named cars on the list. And yes, it truly is superfast. Replacing Ferrari’s much loved F12, the 812 Superfast is some 60kg lighter, more powerful and can shift gears 30% quicker than the car it’s following. But thankfully, it’s kept the F12’s striking profile and is a truly gorgeous looking piece of machinery. So how fast is Superfast? Well, its powerplant is a rather spectacular naturally aspirated 6.5 litre V12, that produces a hearty 789bhp at 8500rpm, along with 529lb ft of torque and revs to a joyous 8900rpm redline. And the rather bonkers numbers don’t stop there – with claims of 0-100kph in 2.9 seconds and 0-200kph in a physics-defying 7.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 339kph. Superfast, indeed. With a price tag of around €287,000 before any additional options, the 812 is among the most exclusive supercars on our list. And in terms of driving thrills and the perfect V12 quad-exhaust soundtrack, it really pulls ahead of the competition. And how can you not love that unapologetic “Giallo Triplo Strato” yellow paint?
5. Porsche 911 GT2 RS What this car lacks in flare and flamboyance compared to its tough Italian rivals, it makes up for in engineering mastery. No top 10 supercars list would be complete without a GT car from Porsche and the GT2 RS is the full-fat, real deal, range-topper. The GT2 has long been the ultimate version, highlighting the pinnacle of each generation of the 911. A more casual admirer of the marque would be forgiven for mistaking the GT2 RS for its naturally aspirated brother, the GT3. However, there is a pretty staggering difference between the two models and it comes in the form of a 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged flat-
48 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 43
six engine that pumps out nearly 700bhp. In partnership with an ultrafast 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, the Porsche can shove you from 0-100kph in an astounding 2.7 seconds. Unlike the “standard” 911 Turbo models, the power goes exclusively to the rear wheels – giving the GT2 a somewhat infamous reputation for being a bit of a handful. And it’s not undeserved; this is the most powerful 911 to ever roll out of the factory and it truly is blisteringly fast. The GT2 is presently the fastest roadlegal production car ever to lap the Nürburgring. The Porsche weighs in at around €235,000, base price. But the optional Weissach Package, offering more carbon-fibre weight-saving measures and magnesium wheels is available for a cool additional €23,000.
6. Ford GT One of the most impressive standout candidates from 2018 is unquestionably the Ford GT. In this, the 3rd iteration of the GT since the original Le Mans dominating car in arrived 1964, Ford have again reverse-engineered a race car for the road in order to re-enter the motorsport arena with a bang. In turn, they’ve made one of the most driverfocused, track-bred machines in our list. Beneath its stunning racer-ready aerodynamic looks, with all manner of active aero parts and a mammoth rear wing, the GT utilises carbon-fibre tub technology, making it both light and extremely rigid. Powering the GT is a 3.5-litre, twin-turbo V6 Ecoboost engine, which provides the rear wheels with some 647bhp via a Getrag 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This makes 0-100kph acceleration possible in 3 seconds flat and can push on to a top speed of 347kph. And the GT can stop as well as it soars, on some enormous 394mm carbon-ceramic brakes. Ford has confirmed 1000 examples of its new GT will be built over the next four years, for a price tag of around €475,000. The bad news however, is that every unit has already been sold on pre-order. So we’ll have to wait and see what kind of mark-up the market applies to such a rare and magnificent beast.
7. Lamborghini Aventador S Released back in 2011 in its first stage of life, the Aventador S is a huge leap on for Lamborghini’s flagship supercar. Now offered with new aero-styling and an active rear wing, the Aventador S offers around 130% more downforce than its predecessor. And thankfully, the ascetics and quality remain unmistakably, Lamborghini. Inside of this re-imagined Italian heavyweight is a huge piece of artillery – a 6.5 litre V12, capable of producing 730bhp and 509lb ft of torque. The power is put down though all four wheels at a front to rear ratio of the driver’s discretion. This puts the new S in a rather elite sub-3-second club to 100kph and allows top end speeds of 333kph. The improved S now boasts a trick four-wheel steering system for some real precision turn-in. There’s no denying the new and improved S can definitely hang with its hottest competition. The Aventador S has a base price of around €306,000 and in our opinion is worth every penny. It brags devilish good looks alongside truly ballistic levels of performance.

8. Mercedes-AMG GT R The new Mercedes AMG GT R is the latest high-horsepower, pack leader from the tyre-smoking hooligans at AMG. This car absolutely embodies all the excitement, thrill and fun of driving. Firstly, the GT R is a gorgeous thing to look at. Visually, it’s as snarling and aggressive as it is poised and beautiful. Its exterior is wide, low and positively reptilian – more so then ever in this limited edition “AMG Green Hell Magno” paint. Under the hulk-like paint job are some brutish numbers to back it up too. The powertrain is a 4.0-liter twinturbo V-8, that is responsible for some 577 horsepower and 516lb ft of torque. This monster motor works in tandem with a snappy 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that means you’ll see 100kph in less than 3.5 seconds and can press on to a top velocity of 318kph. Not only does the GT R provide excesses of pure delight from behind the wheel, it also provides the driver, and any fortunate bystanders, with one of the most glorious exhaust notes ever produced by a turbocharged engine thanks to its triple-exit titanium exhaust system. Prices for this new AMG supercar standout start from approximately €160,000; unless you fancy some of that incredible green paint. That’s an additional €8500 but in our opinion, it’s a must-have.

9. Aston Martin DB11 AMR Class and sophistication coupled with raw power, everything you expect from an Aston Martin. And if you’re not already acquainted with the AMR badge on the fresh DB11’s rump, it’s the new insignia worn by vehicles sporting some of the ethos and latest racing technology from Aston’s motorsport division - Aston Martin Racing. So think along the lines of BMW’s M division or what AMG is to Mercedes-Benz. In terms of looks, the DB11 AMR is a very handsome machine. Its wide hips, bulging hood and vast front grille harmonize at a perfect ratio. Its profile and dimensions are very distinctly Aston’s DNA. Under its curvaceous exterior sits a 5.2 litre twin-turbo V12 – giving the driver 630bhp to play with and a 0-100kph time of 3.7 seconds. Despite these massive numbers, this thing remains a true, comfortable GT car and can contentedly
eat miles of Mediterranean coastline with ease. Its top speed is an astounding 334kph. Prices for the DB11 AMR start from around €196,000 before any bespoke options. So if you’re in the market for something a little less track-focused and more geared towards continental cruising, the Aston’s style, comfort and versatility make it a very attractive option indeed.
10. Audi R8 V10 Plus Rounding off a solid foundation on our list is Audi’s peak performance model, the new R8 V10 Plus. After being in continuous production across two generations since 2006, like a fine wine, the R8 has aged marvellously. It has stood the test of time and has cemented itself as a long standing staple of the supercar market. This in part is thanks to its versatile, everyday usability and appealing driving dynamics that have made it a comparatively accessible daily supercar. After undergoing a moderate facelift in recent years, the R8 now looks more angular and antagonistic than ever before. Under the mid-section of this enhanced exterior, its current winning formula is made up of a 5.2 litre V10 teamed with a 7-speed S-Tronic transmission
and Audi’s famed Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The V10 makes an impressive 602bhp, and is shared with the Lamborghini Huracan, as is the R8’s exceptionally confidence inspiring chassis. The V10 Plus model prices start from €159,000 ahead of additional options. There’s also the drop-top Spyder version to consider and a more recently added RWS version which replaces the Quattro AWD with an exclusively rear-wheel driven variant.

NAILING IT
There is so many new things in nails at the moment – there’s all these new powders, gels, extensions and keratin to strengthen nails. Dali is one of the most versatile and sought after nail technicians on the coast and we are lucky enough to have her here at Salon La Vida. I would say nail gel and acrylics are definitely the most popular on the market at the moment and these can be extended and look very natural whilst adding a touch of glam. However, a lot of people like natural nails so what is really popular is the Keratin Treatment for nails to enhance your own nail and you can have beautiful, shiny nails – we can also use it as a basecoat for gels and acrylics too. It lasts 3 weeks, roughly the same time as a manicure. The best brand on the market (which so happens to be the one we stock at Salon La Vida!) is LCN Natural Nail Boost Gel. As far as we are aware we are the only salon in Marbella to offer this treatment. We are also actively promoting a 123 at homecare range here at the salon.

MY TOP 3 SUMMER NAIL PICKS
KERATIN CURE A Keratin treatment is a new product on the market designed to repair weakened or damaged nails. The treatment with jojoba oil and almond oil carries keratin proteins which bond to the natural nail to help strengthen while restoring moisture.
THINK pink The most popular colour at the moment is a light pink or baby pink. It comes with or without sparkle. Pastels are big this summer so if pink is not your thing a blue or lilac can look amazing.
NEON NAILS Neon is also big this Summer and can really make an impact for a big night out especially if you are wearing a plain black or white dress. In a club you will glow under the UV lights too. Wow.
Vera is a trained hairdresser with 23 years experience and 9 years here on the coast. “We are not a high street salon we like the personal touch and being individual to all our clients. Get in touch today for all your hair, beauty and nail needs.

L
ife has a constant ability to remind us who's boss but it also offers us beauty should we be fortunate enough to see it! John Cage once said "the thing with accidents are you get to choose which one's you keep!" and this for sure holds a fair truth within the way in which my work unfolds. I work in a very fluid manner which is highly reactionary.....in constant a state of flux if you will... is as though my mind soul are instructing and just the catalyst for steering the direction it wishes to proceed. Sometimes this works, sometimes not but i'll keep overlaying and only feel OK to stop when nothing more is bothering me....so this can take some time..... We all have people who we draw inspiration from. For me the list could be long.....the genius that is Piccasso! the brilliance of Gerhard Richter! The soul of Rubens! The anger of De Kooning! The invention of Yayoi Kusama! The legend that is Da Vinci! the list could go on.... but all who have crossed my path have in some way fuelled my childish inquisitiveness. As i've never been the type who wants to know what his coffee is going to taste like before he wakes I produce a varied array of works some light hearted and some drawn from deep inside which can also be a kind of self therapy. If a piece makes you think then good but if it makes you feel then were really gtting somewhere... perhaps this is why faces have a strong representation within my portfolio. All faces have the same components and yet no two are the same. They are also the focal point for emotional release. The structure shape and form has always had a fascination for me. I believe art is of massive importance in our ever increasing stressful lives with its relentless pressures. I think it can offer us (however brief) an opportunity to take a break from all modern day madnesses constantly straining at us.... Anyway if you've taken the time to view my works and read this far then I thank you and trust it wasn't overly traumatic.....

THE WORLDS GREATEST WORKOUT PLAN AND NUTRITION PROGRAMME EVER MADE (EVER)
I Luke Hill is a well established Personal Trainer here on the coast. Having worked with hundreds of clients, Luke is the owner of Women´s only beach boot camp, "Miss Fit Marbella" (as seen in Hello Magazine), owner of personal training and classes studio "M FIT" (located on the Golden Mile) and now Head PT at Premium 1-2-1 Personal Training Studio "Health and Fitness Marbella" (based on the Nueva Andalucia roundabout) Having worked with athletes and celebrities in his time as a Personal Trainer, Luke is a firm believer in strength and resistance training for getting results. Forget fad diets, starvation and hours on cardio machines and think lifting, lifting heavily and basing diets around what you enjoy eating and drinking. Being based in an industry that is results driven, Luke is well known for getting results in his boot camps and body transformations.

have the pleasure of working with hundreds of clients, through my women´s only boot camps, to personal training, to group classes, my kids classes and training with friends! It seems however, since the rise of the internet, the social media fitness gurus, health professionals and health businesses selling a dream, there are a million ways to get in the shape of your life, yet only one works! Everyone has the magic formula, everyone has special knowledge (or so called knowledge) and I am not surprised the general public are confused as to what to believe, or who to believe. We see transformations, with clients dropping inches in days or weeks but is it sustainable? We see keto diets promising remarkable fat loss but are we receiving the micronutrients we need for a healthy lifestyle? We see EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) studios popping up everywhere, but has anyone ever gained good results of weight loss or hypertrophy through increased stimulation alone? So what is the key? What is the world’s greatest workout and what will gain the best results for everyone? What should you be eating to get in the best shape of your life? The answer is there is no answer! There is no magic formula and there is no one method that works better or worse than the other. There is no special diet that works for everyone. There is no greatest workout plan and nutritional programme ever made! But there are principles that will lead to you gaining results. If you follow these principles, regardless of the option or person you choose to follow, you will move in the right direction.
Principles to Follow... 1. To Lose Weight; Burn More Calories than you Consume
On a basic level if you burn more calories than you eat or drink, you will lose weight. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but for 99% of the population the above will work. Work out how many calories you have to play with each day, because the majority of the people I speak to, they tell me they under eat, or don´t eat much but when I work out their calories, normally including high fat foods (holding higher calories than expected) and alcoholic drinks that do the same, they generally don´t realise they are in a surplus! And vice versa...to put on weight, consume more calories than you burn.
health & fitness FASHION 2. Eat Foods You Enjoy
A contentious one for many but I tell my clients, don´t drastically change your eating patterns, types of foods or drink. Adjust where needed but a complete modification will very rarely lead to motivation or sustainability. For many, an easy way of cutting calories, if you are trying to lose weight is to decrease portion sizes. Cut out fatty foods, some sauces for example, which carry 9 kcals per gram compared to proteins or carbs at 4 kcal per gram. Make sure you work out your protein levels and hit those daily to help repair and gain muscle. Other than that make sure you don´t go over your calorie limit and you cannot go too far wrong.
3. Choose Exercise or Sport You Enjoy
Now, I would be lying if I said all sport will give you the results that you want. Quite obviously, if you want to gain muscle, you probably won’t do that through taking up marathon running or darts, however this principle is more associated with motivation of exercising and exercising regularly. If you don´t enjoy being in a gym environment, choose a sport, exercise outside, make sure you walk or move regularly to burn the calories you need to burn. I have found through my career, the guys and girls who gain the best results in the gym with myself are the ones who enjoy training in a gym.
4. Be Consistently Consistent
We all know that friend who says monthly, next month will be my month. They start, they make it through a week, then you don´t hear about their fitness journey until you get deja vu a month later and hear the same story. The only way to get results and sustainable results is to be consistent. For our bodies to change we need to place a stress on it that it couldn´t deal with before. That may be lifting heavier weights, or running further and faster than before but it doesn´t work if you only do it once a week or month. Aim to do some exercise every single day, that is what are bodies are designed for. If you are consistent, you will see changes, however big or small.
5. Train Harder Than You Did The Day Before
Maybe the hardest rule or principle to follow but as aforementioned, if you put your body under a stress it couldn´t deal with before, it will change! Only when you work hard, push yourself to your limits (safely) and consistently will changes come. This principle is hard to instil, so I suggest, one, get a personal trainer or training partner; two, remind yourself of your motivation before you train, maybe it’s a photo or goal but motivate yourself and three, find a pre workout routine to get yourself in the right mindset. I like to drink a black coffee and listen to “Boys are Back in Town” by Thin Lizzy! It may not work for you but I know once I check off my routine I am ready to rock and roll! So there you have it, the truth behind the fitness industry! There is no magic formula, there is no one way to get results, there isn´t one method or diet that works for everyone! Everyone is different and motivation to get moving, keep moving and making sensible decisions whilst eating is what will lead to us to becoming healthier and wealthier. So look after that body and your body will look after you.

RESTAURANT REVIEW
Tibu Rooftop Restaurant T
he world famous Tibu Rooftop Restaurant is the number one spot in Puerto Banus to go for a fabulous meal, great time and party like no other. Anyone who frequents the restaurant is in for a real treat and guaranteed to have the night of their life. This place is famous for a reason, the Rooftop Restaurant is as addictive as its neighbouring nightclub Tibu, and is Marbella Rocks number one recommended spot for a meal and night out down the port. The Rooftop Restaurant is a must for any stag and hen party. If you are a tourist and you are looking for a lively pre-restaurant to get you in the mood for the night ahead then this is for you, likewise, it is a must for us Marbella Residents, we highly recommend that you start any night out down the port having a lovely meal on the Rooftop with its beautiful panoramic views to get you in the mood for a fabulous night out. Fine dining and bags of fun? This place has energy and a lively atmosphere like no other. On arrival, as you walk up the famous Tibu steps and hear the house music playing, straight away you get a buzz and that feeling you only get in Marbella, that the possibilities of tonight’s party is endless. As we walked across to the Rooftop Restaurant we were greeted with a smile by Sebastian the most hospitable, charming and also incredibly good looking restaurant manager we have met in Marbella in a long time! Sebastian took us over to our table overlooking the glamorous and vibrant Plaza Antonio Banderas, as you look around, only one thing comes to mind “I love this place”. The menu was perfect, the starters list had all of our favourites, Prawns Pil Pil, Marinated Salmon, Salad, King Prawn Cocktail, Soup of the Day and Italian Ham with Melon but to start I could not resist but try the Provoletta Grilled

RESTAURANTFASHION REVIEW
Cheese and it was just divine, it literally melted in my mouth. The Soup of the Day was tomato and smelt amazing, so I had to try and it was absolutely fabulous. The Main Course menu was jam packed with firm favourites including Lamb Chops, Fresh Cod, Chicken Supreme, Risotto, Salmon fillet, Veal Milanese, Sirloin Beef Strips but for us it was Filet Steak all round and compliments to the chef as his steak could be well placed in the English dictionary next to the world ‘succulent’. Most places on the coast have steak on their menu but for us steak lovers not everyone can get it right, I am extremely picky when it comes to how my steak is cooked and this was cooked to absolute perfection, Tibu Rooftop Restaurant is now my new favourite spot. Feeling rather full before our desert we went out onto the terrace and got chatting with the other guests, the atmosphere is so friendly in here that everyone mingles and chats #TibuTerraceTalk. I met some wonderful ladies, who all looked extremely glamorous
and all were excited to dance the night away in the club. When you go the Tibu Rooftop Restaurant you literally don’t have to go anywhere else as it is in the best and most famous club in Marbella. I would recommend anyone booking a table in the restaurant to book a booth in the club too as you literally will not be wanting to leave until the club closes, but don’t worry guys its open until 6am so, when you have finished your desert you can make your way to your booth and the dancefloor and dance until dawn to the best DJ’s in the world, what more could one want? Bringing us back to desert our Ice Cream Sorbets were the perfect finish to a fabulous meal, refreshing us, getting us ready for the dancefloor, where we were treated to the fabulous famous DJ Colin Francis. I have lived in Marbella for some years now and this was by far my best night out.
Make sure you make your reservations as not to miss out on the night of your life as Tibu Rooftop get really busy especially in peak Summer. For table bookings visit www.tibubanus.com or call +34 952 814 070 or Facebook @TibuRoofTopResturant Open everyday from 19.30 to 01.00.

Wedding announcements
reveal couples' odd name pairings
I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Butt Peeper! Hilarious newspaper wedding announcements reveal VERY awkward - and terribly rude - name pairings of engaged couples
Unfortunate: Some couples have been blessed with incompatible names, such as Ms. Showers, who married Mr. Golden during a ceremony in Southampton, Pennsylvania
Uh oh: Some of the name pairings sound downright rude or cheeky, such as 'Filler-Quick'
The key to a happy marriage? Ms. Moore and Mr. Bacon's names echo what many have undoubtedly thought during Sunday brunch
Hopefully not a prediction: This couple's name pairing doesn't bode well for their future car
Humble brag: Put together, the names of Ms. Lay and Mr. Best sound like someone is giving themselves high praise about their intimate prowess
So what did they serve as refreshments? Hopefully, Ms. Crapp and Mr. Beer didn't offer their guests a nice pale ale to toast their union
124 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 43
That just sounds painful: Ms Dick proudly announced her engagement to fiance Mr. Bender
Well, that's a handy skill: Ms. Speedy and Mr. Zieper proudly announced their marriage
Not letting it stand in their way: Ms. Butt and Mr. Peeper became husband and wife in 2010
Words to live by? One couple's names will forever say 'ParteeMoore' when written together
Uh oh: Some of the name pairings sound downright rude or cheeky, such as 'Filler-Quick'
The key to a happy marriage? Ms. Moore and Mr. Bacon's names echo what many have undoubtedly thought during Sunday brunch
Shave her how? Mr. Shaver became Ms. Nicely's husband during a religious ceremony
The power of punctuation: This couple had an extremely important comma in their headline Odd pairings: One couple announced their engagement as the 'Moore-Dummer'
The great capture: One couple's romantic engagement announcement was made to look slightly odd due to their two names put together
Position: Mr. Fillerup married Ms. Standing during a 2007 ceremony announced in the paper
Duo: Ms. Wang and Mr. Holder looked extremely happy to announce their engagement
Details: Ms. Whyde and Mr. Hole's names sounded particularly descriptive in the newspaper
If you have seen Wedding announcements revealing couples' odd name pairings PICS that are worthy of our list post them on Twitter tagging @Marbella_ Rocks and the best will win a dinner for two at a top Marbella restaurant.
Wishing them the best: Mr. Looney and Ms. Warde tied the knot 12 years ago in Salem, Oregon
Hardy har har: One couple's name pairing even had a hint of sarcastic laughter in it

ROCKS ASTROLOGY FORECAST Aries
Gemini
Leo
21 MAR – 20 APR
22 MAY – 21 JUNE
24 JULY – 23 AUG
All connections may just require more work than usual this August. At least for the first half of the month. You may not be feeling like your usual sociable self. Or it may seem that people are showing you a side of themselves you haven’t seen before – and don’t much like. If it’s a new lover, you could feel the chemistry is missing. August asks that you don’t make snap decisions or judgements. Step back and if you don’t feel like socialising – stay home. That cranky, out-of-sorts feeling may be more directed at yourself than someone else. But it won’t last. By the third week of the month you’re at one with the world again and ready to spread your wings. Leave that budding romance or new connection until then. Take it from me, if you rush things you’re not giving them – or you for that matter, a fair chance.
Stuck in the past, Gemini? Feel like you’re going over old ground? Or are you so busy looking back at ‘the way we were’ that you’re not looking forward? By all means, use the first two weeks to tie up any loose ends on projects, place the past in perspective and also ditch anything or anyone that ties you to it in a negative way. Sure, it sounds ruthless but if anything from painful memories, sentimentality or connections that drain you are keeping you from moving forward, it’s now time to break free. Often however this process simply involves closing a mental door and telling ourselves that it’s okay to revisit the past on occasion, but we simply don’t live there anymore. From the third week of the month, time to focus on the new and only invest your energy in things that excite you. Explore the future from here on in.
Second chances feature this month as something springs from the past. Usually your birthday season is all about new beginnings. And certainly there’s an element of that too. Something may return now – that career opportunity, that lover, that goal, that you felt slipped through your fingers the first time around. Have a think about what this could be – and also what you would do differently today as opposed to back then, if you had a second chance. Then be open as to what does return. It could even return in a slightly different guise but feel very familiar. Doors that were closed could swing wide again. Remember – the universe issues invitations and it is always up to us whether we accept them or not. That’s the whole point of free will. But if you feel you missed out on something the first time, don’t have any second-time-around regrets. This time when the door opens, walk through.
Taurus
Cancer
Virgo
21 APR – 20 MAY
22 JUNE – 23 JULY
24 AUG – SEPT 3
Long term work and career plans, family matters, your home and living arrangements and anything to do with your long term security will benefit from your attention this month, Taurus. Pay close attention to anything you can revive that is linked to these subjects. Resurrect big plans from the past that you may have dismissed as impractical. There’s something there that has real potential for the future. All it needs from you is repurposing and a fresh investment in terms of time and vision. Others may see you as somewhat detached or in a ‘dream world’ now. But this is actually an important incubation period for you. Something will emerge from this that has long term potential and the ability to sustain you. Don’t be pressured into hurrying the process. You’ve got a vision. Stick with it this August.
The start of August may make you feel you are on shaky ground with your finances. There’s that feeling of juggling your resources and ‘robbing Peter to pay Paul’. Part of this equation could also relate to the time you have at your disposal too. You may just feel there are not enough hours in the day to get your job done. And then there’s nothing whether it is time or money, left for you at the end of it. That shaky feeling will begin to stabilise as the month progresses and by the third week you should be on the way to achieving a better balance. You still don’t have the big picture when it comes to your money however. It’s all too easy to say watch where it goes. A new source of income could be opening up for you but will require nurturing and effort first. Focus on what you need to make your world feel more stable and secure. Everything flows from that.
Have a pre-birthday declutter, Virgo. Deep clean your life. Don’t just delve into that closet – look around your entire living space. What don’t you use or even need any more? Sell it, donate it or bin it. But don’t stop there. What about those negative people? The psychic vampires or the ‘friends’ or even lovers who drain you or are happy to take but there’s no give? Then there’s that baggage you’re carrying. Negative thoughts, opinions and limitations you’ve taken on board. Bin those too. Decluttering is probably the most powerful process we can kick start a brand new cycle in our lives. Which is what your birthday is all about this year. You probably already know what has to go. But be prepared to get ruthless and cull! Something or someone you thought was essential to you will show up in a very different light which leads you to realise you don’t need them either. Set yourself free, Virgo.

Old connections and old goals feature this month. And not in an overly sentimental way either. The fact is you are poised on the cusp of an exciting period of resurrection when it comes to a past goal of yours. At some point in the next 16 months or so you will be given an opportunity to jump back in. And chances are whatever this was it was a big part of your life or even your being at one point. Perhaps things didn’t quite work out the first time. Or you got discouraged along the way. There’s a feeling of ‘so near but so far’ around all of this. But this time around, you won’t just come close, you’ll grasp that prize. August offers you a glimpse, a preview if you like, of what’s to come. It’s like you’re being invited back. People from your past who may have been pivotal to this back then may also still have a role to play. August lets you know the dream is not over. In fact, it may be an even better dream.
If excitement has been lacking in the present moment for you recently Sag, unlike a few others signs who need to let go of the past, for you heart starting passion can be found in the past. Revisit old dreams and goals now. Past activities you loved to do or dreamed of doing but never got round to it - that plan you had for your future can be made to work for you now in the present. But you do need to update it and add a few revisions. After all, you’ve changed since then and the dream has to remain current. What you are craving this month is actually more freedom and excitement and this dream represents that on some level for you. There’s a saying out there that if you dream is not coming true it is because you need a bigger dream. Expand your belief about what is possible and get ready to explore it once more, Sag.
Take a break this month, Aquarius. Things may have been pretty intense over the past few weeks, but August allows you to stop and smell the roses. It’s time to focus on your relationships now. And also to listen to what your intuition is telling you. When we’re busy rushing around that still, small voice inside of us tends to get drowned out by whatever else is going on. But the fact is, it has something very important to tell you and this may relate to someone close to you. So, that downtime serves a dual purpose – recharge and also tune in. Above all, don’t rush things. This especially applies to anyone new you meet now. Take your time and get to know them slowly. The past, especially when it comes to your love life, is in focus this month. Think about whether you want to repeat it or write an entire new chapter. Make time for love – or at the very least, to think the future of it through, this August.
SCORPIO
Capricorn
Pisces
24 OCT – 22 NOV
22 DEC – 20 JAN
20 FEB – 20 MAR
Keep your focus on your career and long term finances this month, Scorpio. In fact, it’s time to give serious thought to all aspects of your future from how you want to earn your money to your living arrangements – and who you share these with for that matter. You could be faced with an important decision this month. Contracts could be signed or you may need to commit and say ‘Yes’ to something which marks the beginning of an important new phase of your life. See this month as an opportunity to lay the foundation for your future. For others, this may also involve the decision to let something go that you have come to realise has not worked for quite some time. No matter how much time, money or love you may have invested in it in the past, don’t be afraid to cash in if you have to. Sometimes making a commitment to our future involves the word ‘No’ as much as it does ‘Yes’.
The start of August may have you feeling that everything is hard work and everyone is out to get you. Try as you might, it may seem nothing you do is right. One person in particular may be especially hard to please. No matter how hard they are pushing your buttons, try not to react now. Or if they give you no other option, please try to keep your response in proportion to what is happening in the present moment – as opposed to all the previous occasions they have been on your case. You’ve an uncharacteristic tendency to fly off the handle this month. I’m not saying it may not be warranted, but you can end up looking like the bad guy when in fact, you are the victim, if you are not careful. Thankfully this won’t last. Keep your cool if you can until the third week of the month when you’ll not only see things differently (and have a different response), but feel that release from tasks or situations that have come to seem like drudgery. Freedom beckons.
Time to revamp that routine, Pisces. Does is support you and make you more productive? Or is it doing the opposite and restricting you, instead? Have you fallen into a rut instead of the freedom that comes from being properly organised? Do you find yourself having to do the same thing in the same order, in the same way? Time to shake it up. The fact is, you are being invited to bring pleasure into your daily tasks and routine and to enliven it with creativity and fun rather than repetition and boredom. Whether you are in paid or unpaid work, August wants you to experience excitement and variety. How? Simply by looking at your day and seeing how you can make different choices. Don’t do things in the same order. Choose a different route to work or for your morning jog. Visit a new coffee shop instead of your regular one. We caught up with the charismatic Brigitte Pagini, owner of La Fiorentina and the newly launched La Fiorentina by De Medici, on her new business venture, her love for fashion, uncanny resemblance to Sophia Loren plus how she gets all her energy and zest for life.
Brigitte Pagini What are your plans for the new restaurant? For the new restaurant La Fiorentina by De Medici, we are open all day long from one o’clock to eleven thirty – midnight in peak summer. We serve the best Italian tapas, made from the finest, freshest ingredients. Also we are organising charity nights, events and shows. A lot of fashion shows because the former De Medici is so big. People who have been to the building before know how elegant it is. We don’t have ‘elegant prices’ we have good prices but the style is elegant! What is the best thing about owning your own restaurants? The best thing is serving quality food to all our lovely guests. At the moment everybody is a sheep doing the same overpriced dishes. I have very normal prices, it is not expensive has the best quality on the coast. The second best thing is all the live music and entertainment we offer. All my customers know I work with live music in La Fiorentina; and we are offering more and more live music by the minute. So La Fiorentina has had many celebrities guests, who is your favourite and why? I would have to say Cliff Richard or the late Cilla Black. Brigitte, you are the absolute double of Sophia Loren, do you get that a lot? Thank you very much. I have pictures where she looks exactly like me and everybody asks me is that you, but no it’s not, unfortunately! Do you have any beauty tips for our readers? Erm, no just work (hahaha) working and always having a good time. Now I have no time to go the gym but I make one hour, early everyday for running 7km, so I am fit.

Where does your love of fashion come from? I love fashion because when I was in Germany I was in fashion advertising not gastronomy. It was my husband who was in gastronomy and very successful and when we moved here I would rather go to the restaurant than sit in the house and do nothing! Now I am able to work in both gastronomy and fashion with all the shows and events we are putting on. So who is your favourite designer? My favorite designer is an Italian designer Céline B and it’s only in Italy. What would you say is your best character trait? Definitely my energy. I get up early; I work seven days a week. I work lunch and dinner and in the meantime, I have to do banking, gastronomy, advertising and public relations. I only have one hour after my run to rest on the sofa and then I shower; quick and boom, I am up again. So what is your secret? My secret is just my energy, I don’t take any pills, nothing, you know. The only vitamins I take are vitamin C, nothing more. What is the best advice that you have ever been given? Just working. Just do it, everything. You can do everything in your life. Also when your passion is a hairdresser or whatever it is you can do everything, just do it and learn it. So what did you want to be growing up? I wanted to always work in fashion, I love fashion. But when I came here to Spain I cannot do my profession, what I do in Germany here in Spain. I was creative in fashion and my ex boss from Germany still comes every year on May 7th when I have my birthday to celebrate with me and we make some designs together.
So what is your worst habit? I smoke, I smoke a lot and I love a glass of red wine after work with my dinner. What is your most embarrassing item in your wardrobe? Nothing, everything I have I love even if I take it out of my wardrobe 20 years later it is still good. What could you not live without? My son Alex, I definitely couldn’t live without him, impossible. I love him so much. He is the same as me… his character, his social life, we have so much fun together and are always laughing. If you could take three things onto a desert island what would you take? My son, a good book as I love to read and my cigarettes (haha). What is the best thing about living in Marbella? It’s so cosmopolitan, you get to meet so many different people and I just love all the different nationalities here. In Germany it was not the same, but here it is great. There are so many different people, different styles, it’s interesting. I love to meet new people and with La Fiorentina we meet everyone, I love my life in Marbella. What is the worst thing about living in Marbella? Nothing, we have everything, I love living here.
