everyone’s talking about... JOHNNY SETTLES OUT OF COURT
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have settled out of court with a divorce settlement netting the actress $8million. The couple who were only wed for 18 months, put out a joint statement saying: “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love.” Amber originally filed for divorce after only 15 months in May this year and put a temporary restraining order on Depp, whom she claimed had beat her up. In the week leading up to the settlement Amber also revealed that Johnny accidentally cut off the tip of his finger whilst in a fit of rage in March 2015 before dipping it in a pot of blue paint and writing the name ‘Billy Bob’ and ‘Easy Amber’ in bloodyblue writing on the wall. Billy Bob is said to have been who Depp accused his wife, Amber Heard of cheating on him with. Amber claims that Johnny who was drunk and high on ecstasy smashed bottles and windows, and threw a phone against the wall. It was in this angry fit that he sliced a portion of his finger off and proceeded to write on the wall. Depp, 53, has always vehemently denied the abuse allegations made by his former wife.
CHLOE GETS VICTORIA & DAVID´S APPROVAL
Brooklyn Beckham´s girlfriend Chloe Moretz has gotten Victoria and David Beckham´s seal of approval. The Kick Ass actress, 19, has officially been dating eldest son Brooklyn, 17, since July this year and the Beckhams have been quoted as saying in various media reports that they think she is “adorable”. Victoria has even offered to help Chloe with her modelling ambitions and they’ve been having girlie bonding sessions with Harper. Victoria has also been joking how it’s good to finally be levelling things out with the female to male ratio in the family. The boys also love her and Victoria says she’s become part of the family, spending weekends at their home and going for dinner at least three nights a week. This relationship looks on the up and up as grounded Chloe steers well clear of the Hollywood stereotype and Victoria and David have always pledged to give their children as normal upbringing as possible.
MILE HIGH CARA
Model and actress Cara Delevingne has recently admitted that she´s joined the mile high club by having sex on a plane “several times.” The 23-year-old who is dating singer St. Vincent admitted in a recent magazine interview, "I've had sex in planes a lot. But I've always been caught. It's super-hard not to get caught.” The actress who is starring in the summer blockbuster Suicide Squad, went on to say, "I had sex in the chair on the plane and there was a guy watching. We ended up telling the air stewardess what was happening. Like, This guy keeps staring at us. Can you tell him to stop?'"

SPOTTED IN MARBELLA
Glamorous Marbella is known to be loved by celebrities all over the world, here are just a few of the many we spotted here this summer: Tennis ace Novak Djokovic was spotted splashing around in the Marbella sea whilst wife Jelena watched from the shore.
Eva Longoria attending the Global Gift La Soirée dinner with new husband Pepe Baston. Hugh Grant looking a tad cold taking a dip in the sea, maybe not his most flattering photo.
OARSOME ORLANDO
Orlando Bloom´s recent vacation with girlfriend Katy Perry has been a real eye opener for fans. Taking to a paddle board completely starkers the Pirates of the Caribbean star leisurely paddled in the sea with a proud smile on his face displaying his rather toned butt and um, front. Phw-OAR. Pictures in the press either strategically blurred the 39-year-olds manhood or replaced with an emoji although after fans pleaded on social media to see him in all his glory, the uncensored photos were leaked on several news sites. Daily Mirror is one of them if you want a sneak peak! Katy, 31, looked none the wiser at her blooming marvellous boyfriend´s antics. The couple have been dating since May and took a break from hectic schedules to enjoy the break in Italy and Sardinia.

BIEBER THE CHEATER
Justin Bieber has been labeled a cheat by ex Selena Gomez in an Instagram feud. The Cold Water singer told fans to leave new love interest Sofia Richie alone and threatened to make his account private. Gomez had her say on the matter and commented on his post, "If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol - it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you.” Things then quickly turned sour when Bieber responded with, “It's funny to see people that used me for attention and still trying to point the finger this way. Sad. All love. I'm not one for anyone receiving hate.” But Selena had the last word and completely shut him down by confirming the real reason they split. "Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love." We hope you have some ice for that burn Biebz.

FOR HIM #SKATEWEAR WHAT'S TRENDING...
Trending this autumn season and beyond is skatewear, the colourful, fun, not giving a s*** kind of clothing that makes people smile. It´s comfortable clobber, daring and most definitely street. The big guns are even getting in on the action. Vetements – the huge Parisbased design collective that’s got fashion industry tongues wagging – had one of its first major wins with an oversized Thrasher-style skater hoodie, as worn by Kanye West. Plus, in a nod to all things “Street” and “Skate” Louis Vuitton recently posted a video with pro-skater Alex Olson promoting the fashion houses latest line. It seems “Chic has also got in on “Street!” Summing up the trend´s appeal Hybebeast said,“I think skateboarding’s greatest contribution to fashion right now is less of an aesthetic and more of a projected attitude. A lot of menswear and streetwear types these days put on a front of aloofness, whereas these kids really don’t care.” If you love the skater look and are in Marbella be sure to check out Flamingo´s latest collection (as pictured here from Cayler & Sons, Black Kavia & The Hundreds) in their Puerto Banus based store now or go online to www. flamingomarketplace.com.

SKIN VIRGIN BODY SCRUB
vs
ed t in k s minted
Coffee based coconut body scrub, yes you heard right…coffee! This UK made skincare product targets cellulite, stretchmarks, eczema and leaves your skin feeling revitalised and amazing. Our testers at Marbella Rocks loved the scrub, the smell was not as strong as we expected which we were happy about and left skin feeling smooth and renourished. The scrub contains virgin coconut oil which has natural moisturising qualities and vitamin E. The coffee used is freshly ground to give a beautifully rough texture, mixed with the brown sugar it helps remove dead skin cells and increase blood flow to that area. It also includes fantastic anti-ageing properties - in our opinion it really does it all and for only €15 a pack.

LAMB, LEMON & DILL SOUVLAKI Summer is here, and that means its BBQ season. Instead of burgers and hotdogs (which can become a bit boring by the end of summer) why not go Greek and try this Lamb Souvlaki? Simple to make yet full of flavour, the lemon marinade gives the lamb a light, summery taste that will leave your taste buds wanting more. Perfect for a chilled summer evening by the pool with friends. BBC Good Food reviewers gave it a 5 star rating so you can guarantee it’s a mouth-watering dish that will make you the hostess with the mostest.
INGREDIENTS
• 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped • 2 tsp sea salt • 4 tbsp olive oil • Zest and juice of 1 lemon • 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill • 700g lean lamb such as neck fillet or boneless leg, trimmed, then cut into large chunks • Pitta bread or flatbread, to serve
26 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 24
METHOD
1. Pound the garlic with sea salt in a pestle and mortar (or use a small food processor), until the garlic forms a paste. 2. Whisk together the oil, lemon juice, zest, dill and garlic. Mix in the lamb and combine well. 3. Cover and marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight in the fridge. If you’re going to use bamboo skewers, soak them in cold water. 4. If you’ve prepared the lamb the previous day, take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking. Thread the meat onto the soaked or metal skewers. Heat the grill to high or have a hot griddle pan or barbecue ready. 5. Cook the skewers for 2-3 minutes on each side, basting with the remaining marinade. 6. Heat the pitta or flatbreads briefly, then stuff with the Souvlaki. Add Greek salad and Tzatziki, if you like.
WINE MATCH You may think this is a simple task. Red wine goes with lamb, right? Not necessarily. Matching your wine to your lamb completely depends on the flavours used, which in this case, it’s a lemon, oil and thyme marinade. Due to the lemon flavourings, look for wines that are less fruity and with more acidity. If you’re more in favour of a red then have a look at Italian reds such as Chianti and Barbera. Both wines are very rustic and dry. They have a smell and taste of cherries and are high in acidity. Fancy white? Then stick with the Greek and go for a crisp wine like Assyrtiko. Why not go all out and have a Greek themed dinner party? Accompany your souvlaki with pitta, dips, wines and a baklava for dessert.

BRIDGET JONES’S BABY
MINISTRY OF SOUND – MARBELLA COLLECTION 2016
EMPIRE OF STORMS : A THRONE OF GLASS
It’s the movie we’ve all been waiting for. After 12 years of singing, ‘All by myself’ alone with a glass of wine in a pair of big pants we can now find out how Bridget deals with the rollercoaster that is her life as she enters her 40s. Directed by Sharon Maguire, the first of the Bridget Jones trilogy graced our screens back in 2001. We were introduced to Bridget as an accident-prone, average woman struggling with her self-image, work, and lack of love life. It’s a story many women can relate to, which made it a huge success and led to the sequel in 2004. Nothing seems to have changed for Bridget, (Renée Zellweger) set 10 years on, she has broken up with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth,) but has landed herself a cool new job as a TV executive and got a hot new lover, Jack Qwant (Patrick Dempsey.) But obviously it’s Bridget Jones, nothing can go smoothly. Bridget, now 43 find’s herself pregnant, but who’s the dad? She has no idea. With THREE different endings filmed, the cast are also kept in the dark as to who the father is, until they see the film for the first time at the premiere. From what we can tell by the already hilarious trailer, this third installment is definitely not going to let us down. With cameos from singer Ed Sheeran and actress Emma Thompson, Bridget Jones’s Baby is going to be full of laughter, tears and a lot of drama. We can’t wait!
ROCKS RATING:
Mixed by DJ Colin Francis, the man who brought you the No.1 Gold selling album, “Marbella Sessions 2013” this Marbella Collection 2016 has got to be the sound of your summer – plus it has already peaked at number 1 in the album charts. It features number 1 hits, from Levels (Avicii) and What Do You Mean? (Justin Beiber) to Fast Car (Jonas Blue). With 63 tracks, it will give you hours of partying by the pool to make this your best summer yet. DJ Colin Francis, known as both Essex and Marbella’s No.1 DJ, can be found at all the top venues here on the coast including Aqwa Mist, Plaza Beach, Tibu and Sisu. Throughout the summer season he performs in Ibiza, Miami, Los Angeles and exclusive nightclubs all around the globe. Rated 5 out of 5 on most album review sites one music pundit went on to say: “Excellent Album, with a great collection of fresh summer tunes. Have played through twice and find the whole collection excellent and one of the best albums I've listened to of this genre for a very long time.”
ROCKS RATING:
If you liked The Hunger Games and Game of Thrones, then Empire of Storms is a must read. In the fifth installment of the New York Times best selling Throne of Glass series, Aelin Galathynius’ long journey to the throne has only just begun. In the previous books in this series, we meet Aelin, not as the Queen of Terrasen she is now, but Celaena Sardothien an assassin summoned to the castle to fight for her freedom. After she wins, now known as the kings champion, she is far from loyal to the crown she is supposed to be serving. As she attempts to uncover the mysteries hidden deep within the glass castle, trusting people is not an option. Throughout the rest of the series she suffers many heartaches and deadly consequences. Book five is definitely set to be as explosive as ever. With 704 pages of tension, drama, love and hate, it is a definite page-turner that you wont be able to put down. The release is set to be 6th September, you quickly better get up to speed with the previous 4 in the series, you don’t want to miss out. Sarah J. Mass delivers this epic fantasy, romantic novel that is sure to leave your heart racing, and promises to be her best yet.

news
Marbella Rocks had the pleasure of interviewing the brains and brawn behind Ministry of Sounds´ infamous Marbella Sessions, Marbella Collection plus UK and Marbella´s number 1 DJ Colin Francis. We turned up at his hotel for a midday interview and a very tired but as always “on form” Colin met us in reception! He politely admitted that he maybe wasn´t best prepared for our interview this time as he only arrived in from a full night DJing at Sisu, Pangea, Aqwa Mist and Cavalli only a mere hour and a half earlier. True to form he insisted we got stuck in with the questions.
So how´s your summer going? Hectic to say the least. I´ve done 3 Marbella trips with one more planned and Ibiza, Miami, LA, Dubai, London and UK.
So you´ve hit the number one slot with your latest Ministry of Sound album, 6 albums in a row – how does that make you feel? Really proud, it´s been a lot of hard work and dedication but it has definitely paid off. To have the number one album position even for one album would be a great achievement but for 6 now is really unbelievable.
What´s your favourite track from the album? And Wot by TroyBoi is great.

As well as being a successful DJ in your own right you´ve produced a lot of your own material – can you tell us about your latest record? Yes I´ve just finished an as yet unnamed track with “Katy B” and “CasIsDead” – we´ll be making the video next. It's a Banger and gonna turn heads!!
So is this a new direction for you? Yes I´m getting into production more and more and spending a lot more time in the studio collaborating with top names in the business. I eventually want to compete with the likes of Major Lazer, Calvin Harris and David Guetta.
What in your opinion has made you such a successful DJ? Just being a normal guy and someone people can relate to.
How do you get the party started? High energy. Lots of dubs and specials.
news
You are noticeably one of the best DJ´s to keep in touch with your fanbase – do you think this has helped your popularity?
Because we had so many people from the UK there (ie Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Essex, London etc) we were able to use it as a springboard to launch Unique Parties in these cities and then back in Marbella and Ibiza for the summer seasons of course!
A million percent. I´ve had a lot of support and I regularly keep in touch with my fanbase on a one to one basis, through social media and even when i´m out DJing I always make time to chat to people. I really appreciate everything I´ve been given and will never forget it’s the fans that got me here.
You´ve played privately for Drake, Nicky Minaj and 50 Cent among others – who have you gotten on with the best?
Your fans have even created a “DJ Colin Francis” chant for you. That must have surprised you at first?
50 Cent – he is such a normal guy. Hugely intelligent and humble. He´s always incredibly hard working and a real inspiration to me.
Haha I know, it´s great to feel the love though! I´ve been visiting Marbella for 12 years now and it really does feel like a second home to me.
How have you found the Marbella club owners/ promoters? Phil Savage (Aqwa), Mark Mac (Pangea) Justin Moore (Photographer) Martzio (Tibu) and Neil (Sisu) are the most down to earth people I´ve ever had the pleasure of working with and they haven´t changed since day one. This type of business can be ruthless but these guys are genuinely kind and have in depth humility.
You also run Unique Parties with your friend and fellow DJ J-Funk aka Jermaine. How did you establish the brand? We started with a pool party at Sisu actually. Mark Wright was involved and it was a huge success.
Who has helped you most in your career? My family and friends most definitely. When nobody believed in me they did. I had huge doubts at the beginning of my career, I was thinking “Is this going to work out?” but they had belief in me and kept me going through the hard times before I got to the top. I look at life like a bowling alley. If you have family and friends around to support you its like you have the barriers up and you are always going to end up doing well.
What are your plans for the future? As well as the UAE season which kicks off in September, I´m also planning on hitting new territories including Australia and New Zealand. Plus, a lot more studio time for sure. My goal is to release my first selfproduced album next year.

BOUNCING BACK
It´s been a whirlwind past few months for Australian rapper, singer and songwriter Iggy Azalea. After speculation that her 2-year relationship with fiancé LA Lakers basketball player Nick Young was on the rocks, the couple split this summer with Young announcing he will shortly be fathering a child with his ex. To make matters worse, 26-year-old Iggy was indicted for an unpaid tax bill and had to pay out almost $1 million last month.
S
peaking about finding out about the “love of her love” and only long term relationship´s news that his ex girlfriend Keonna Green was in fact 4 months pregnant, Iggy, said: "I felt like my body was just drop kicked out of a plane with no parachute." Iggy has also gone onto reveal the real reason she and 31-year-old Nick called off their engagement. Although many thought it had something to do with Nick's alleged cheating scandal, when a video surfaced of him talking about other women, it turns out the "Black Widow" rapper actually discovered him cheating herself. "I broke up with Nick because I found out he had brought other women into our home while I was away and caught them on security footage," she said. “I feel like I don´t even know who the hell it is I´ve been loving all this time.” Iggy and Nick tried to make their relationship work after the scandal, but after calling off her wedding she told her followers that she couldn't trust him anymore. "Unfortunately, although I love Nick and I have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him - it's become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to. I genuinely wish Nick the best," she said on Twitter at the time. "It's never easy to part ways with the person you planned you're entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page." Shortly after she announced the news, Nick took to Twitter to share that he's "single" and has been seen

on a string of dates while Iggy has been hanging out with friends saying “I don´t want to be with anyone right now,” and focusing all her attention on her career. However, it seems that her heartbreak has actually propelled her to try new things. Despite turning down the opportunity to be a judge on X Factor several times, in June this year, Iggy was confirmed as a new judge for The X Factor Australia, replacing Kylie´s younger sister Danni Minogue on Season 8 of the show. “I really didn’t picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show, but I think that this could actually be a good fit for me,” she said. “Initially I didn’t know, but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and

obviously to see my family, who live in Sydney. So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect.” Iggy has always been considered a ballsy girl, having dropped out of school at 16 to travel to America in the hope of cracking the music industry – a dream that very few actually get to live out. But Iggy has noticeable talents, being able to sing, rap and write her own music and definitely made an impression on the notoriously tough record industry. She spent several years making her dream a reality, mixing with top producers and rappers. Her debut studio album, “The New Classic” peaked among the top five of several charts worldwide in 2014 and topping the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums making her the first non-American female rapper to reach the top of the charts. An amazing accolade for a 23-year-old musician. The album was preceded by her debut single "Work", and generated the US Billboard Hot 100 chart topping single "Fancy", which made Azalea the fourth female rapper in the history to reach number one, claiming the longest-leading reign with seven consecutive weeks. Additionally, she was featured on Ariana Grande's single "Problem", which peaked at number two while "Fancy" was number one. She joined The Beatles as the only act to rank at numbers one and two simultaneously with two Hot 100 entries. She also went on to achieve three top ten hits simultaneously with the aforementioned songs along with the fifth single from the album, "Black Widow", later that year. Azalea's second studio album Digital Distortion with its lead single, "Team" is due to be released shortly and is tipped to go to the top.
Iggy may also have gone against her previous statement of staying single as she´s been seen out in Vegas with fellow rapper French Montana sparking romance rumours after flirting and leaving the club with him. Whatever happens to Iggy now you can be sure the outspoken singer will stay true to herself. She regularly pipes up with refreshing comments in the media and has even advocated plastic surgery or more people admitting to having plastic surgery following breast augmentation and rhinoplasty. “I think, in 2016, people should be more accepting of the fact that both famous and non-famous women are having cosmetic procedures. That’s just the reality. And I think more people need to admit that shit so it doesn’t have to be so taboo - because we’re all doing it anyway!” Iggy claims.

BATTLE OF THE SUV´S
MASERATI LEVANTE
T
he long awaited Maserati 4 x 4 is set to go head to head with the Porsche Cayenne and the Range Rover Sport this summer. SUV´s are now more popular than any other car type according to Carfinders.com and Maserati is looking to grab a share of the huge market with the newly revealed Levante. It is designed to steal sales from models such as the Porsche and Range Rover and will be priced from about £55,000 (€69,000). The Levante is a key part of Maserati’s expansion plans to have global sales of 75,000 cars a year by 2018, with a sales goal like that it is crucial the 101 year old company´s SUV succeeds. In the UK the Levante is expected to double annual sales to about 3,000 cars.
40 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 24
The model was designed in Turin and follows face of traditional Maserati styling elements. First of all the Trident’s trademark face which includes a grille inspired by the Lafireri concept and a pair of air intakes in the lower fascia connected by a slim cut-out just below the grille. The fog lights sit below the headlights and are cut which is leading the way towards the front fenders with the creases in the hood to give it an aggressive look. The company released shadowy teaser images of the Levante front end prior to release and it’s needless to say that Maserati did a good job developing the exterior. The crisp look is accompanied by the best in class aerodynamic efficiency with a drag co efficient of 0.31. When the car was tested first hand in Turin,
features
Levante’s slippery shape was aided by an active Air Shutter in the front grille, which is a first by Maserati! On the test track, the deployment of this armoury of cornering controls is pretty impressive in the diesel, and aboard the 424bhp petrol V6 it is also a weapon of a car. For all versions, Maserati’s aim was to make the Levante easy to drive fast, unintimidating and viceless. And on a more demanding, longer test circuit at Balocco it’s all of these things and more. The new Maserati is also impressively capable off-road with five suspension settings including two dedicated off-road models. The highest of these two settings lifts the ride height by 4cm to give suitable ground clearance. Back on the tarmac it´s good to see the Maserati traits in evidence on twisty roads where there’s plenty of poise and a fine balance that reflects the car’s 50:50 weight distribution. Interior wise, the Levante also scores with plenty of room up front, a deep boot and easily folded seats. Rear comfort is reasonable despite limited foot room, while storage is average. The car includes app support, HomeLink and AHA functionality which is all run by an 8.4 inch touchscreen display. The technology does not stop there as it comes in the form of dual-zone climate control which includes a sensor that monitors
exterior air quality and a sensor for interior humidity levels and four zone climate control with rear control is also available. The Maserati Levante SUV all in all has an appealing exterior design, luxurious interior and what everyone wants to know…is exceedingly quick for a SUV. The plans in action will likely boost global sales for the Italian car manufacturer to never before seen figures. Porsche, Range Rover – you better watch out!

Brasil Super Yacht Imagine yourself starting your day watching a stunning sunrise on the aft deck of a luxurious super yacht, anchored off a deserted beach with palm trees shading the flawless white sand. A uniformed crew member serves warm croissants with freshly squeezed juice and icy cold champagne on the sun-warmed teak deck. Your only decision is, what to do today. One option could be to up-anchor and sail across to Ibiza, or start a week long meander through the Balearic islands before you head back to the quay and watch the crowds strolling the waterfront while you enjoy a gourmet lunch from the yacht’s chef,
who learned his trade in some of the best restaurants in the world. It will be leisurely, languid, and absolutely memorable. Currently moored in the glamorous resort of Puerto Banus, you’ve probably spotted the imposing 40m beauty that is ‘Brazil.’ Having recently undergone an extensive refit, she’s in mint condition and invited us aboard to sample her splendour. With room to sleep ten and a staff of eight, your every wish is catered for. Whether you want to soak in the onboard Jacuzzi or play with some of her toys which include jetski’s, diving gear, a wakeboard, waterski’s, snorkelling gear,
kayaks and much, much more, you will be spoilt for choice. Few of life’s pleasures compare with a yacht charter, because it blends a superb sense of privacy with the freedom and flexibility to do exactly as you please. For many years, charter yachts were the province not just of the wealthy, but of an insider’s clique. Today, however, the marketplace has changed. Prices for Brazil are set at just €17,000 for the day or €110,000 for the week making it an affordable option for you to make your vacation anything you want from mild to wild, and change it again overnight.

ummer is sadly coming to an end and September sees busy preparations for starting college and learning new skills. MBA Principal Giselle Beck-Davies is still reeling from winning the best CIBTAC College Award and the added excitement of receiving the latest examination results, with a 100% student pass rate and incredibly high grades. Huge congratulations to everyone!
We are looking forward to the start of term and welcoming our newbies who are embarking on their learning adventure and working towards achieving internationally recognised qualifications, the step towards achieving a fulfilling career, with the option to work in 5 star establishments: hotels, spas, cruise ships, magazines, photographers and salons, MBA graduates are in demand all over the world. Hairdressing has for a long time been an apprenticeship trade, where you work as a junior and then climb the ladder to finally becoming a senior stylist or technician. The problem is in a busy salon it can take a long time to advance you’re skills, which is frustrating for the junior and the salon owner alike, who is in need of more assistance. An option to speed things up, is to attend college 1 day a week to learn the theory and practical knowledge, produce a portfolio and gain a level 2 & 3 qualification, whilst still practising in the salon. The other option available is with no apprenticeship, but involves attending college 3 times a week to obtain the qualifications. Our head hair tutor trained and worked at Toni & Guy for 15 years, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his learners, from colour correction to a make-over haircut, braiding, bridal, keratin and hair repair, all aspects of styling, cutting and colouring are covered.
HAIR & BEAUTY The perfect addition to hairdressing is to become a make-up artist‌ MBA offer level 2 which is completed 1 full day a week over 5 weeks, and includes correct application of day, smokey eye, bridal and special occassion make-up.
We also offer level 3 fashion & photographic make-up attendance. It is 2 days a week for 6 months covering level 2 plus fashion, high fashion, period, catwalk, commercial, fantasy black & white and colour photographic looks which leads on to the option of level 3 media make-up where students learn how to work with latex, wax, gum, hair additions etc. to produce wounds, scars special effects, character looks, ageing and high fashion. MBA students produce some amazing work, they surprise themselves with their creative talent. They have been so inspiring.
Exciting news this year is the addition of sports massage in our beauty therapy department, online training and expansion of the school to the Caribbean and Sotogrande, more news on all this soon! 2016-17 is looking beautifully fabulous!

HAIR REPAIR W
e have had a lovely summer in Marbella with beautiful sunny weather. You´ve probably spent lots of time outdoors, running and exercising, relaxing on the beach or by the pool, and of course partying. While most of us recognise the need to protect our skin from the rigours of summer heat and sun, by the end of summer a quick glance in the mirror frequently lets us know that we forgot to protect our hair. While you were having a good time, the sun-ray, the heat, the wind, the dust, the moisture, the sweat, the salt, the chlorine and the airconditioning will have damaged your hair. By the end of the summer hair can become so dehydrated it looks and feels nearly fried. Hair may not only have a faded colour or gone green and have a dry look and feel, but can also be dull, brassy, frizzy, dry, brittle and unmanageable, have problems holding a curl or style, and even take longer to dry. In its worst form damage causes the ends of the hair to split, and breakage can begin. When hair dehydrates it becomes brittle and when it becomes brittle you get the broken split ends that go up the hair shaft and cause fuzziness and frizziness and sometimes breakage; it's a cumulative process. While hair is easily damaged, repairing it can be frustratingly hard. That's because many of us turn to styling aids, such as mousses and gels, to force our damaged tresses to do what we want. And that can be a big mistake. If you are having problems with your hair - it's frizzy or won't hold a curl or style - it's natural to reach for more styling aids. But when hair is damaged, these products can make it look and feel worse. Instead, begin by having your hair repaired by a professional treatment. Hair cannot repair itself, so we have to put back in what was taken out. Your hair’s condition is paramount to us at Wood Hairdressing and we work hard to keep clients’ hair healthy, shiny and in top condition. At Wood, we will recommend and apply the treatment that is right for your hair depending on the type of hair, its length, condition, age, and lifestyle.
HAIR & BEAUTY
A FEW OPTIONS If you want to give your hair the top treatment, especially for coloured hair, I would recommend the OLAPLEX SPECIAL BOND MULTIPLYING PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT. Olaplex is a scientifically developed product, the only one of its kind with 8 worldwide patents. Olaplex repairs the broken biochemical bonds in the hair shaft. These bonds could have been broken by heat, chemicals and by physically mistreating the hair. Olaplex multiplies and cross links the biochemical bonds, actually rebuilding the hair and preventing chemical damage and split ends in the first place. I can apply Olaplex as a stand alone treatment, but especially recommend it in combination with colour. The treatment comprises Olaplex No. 1 Bond Multiplier, followed by Olaplex No. 2 Bond Perfector and takes about 30 minutes in the salon. The Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector is for use at home, and I recommended treating your hair once a week for 10 to 20 minutes. You will see the difference with your hair shining, feeling like silk and twice as thick as before. I recommend applying the Olaplex in-salon treatment once a month, especially for coloured hair, and the hair will just keep getting better and better. Olaplex is the ultimate treatment for anyone with damaged hair and anyone who wants to strengthen and improve the texture of their locks.

Alternatively, kick-start a healthy hair regime with an in-salon intensive treatment tailored to the needs of your hair. REDKEN CHEMISTRY SYSTEM is a professional treatment collection that adds shine and strength, seals the hair cuticle, and adds a brilliant gloss that lasts for at least three weeks! The Chemistry System is an "inside-out approach" to creating healthy, shiny hair. SHOT PHASE contains specialised ingredients that compensate for missing components in the hair due to chemical or mechanical distress. Chemistry System includes six shots, which I can blend for truly personalised solutions for your individual hair needs. In about 5 minutes, you can improve the quality of your hair. These advanced formula treatments provide immediate results after just one treatment. SHOT FIX helps lock in the specialised ingredients in the Shot Phase formulas onto the hair while rebalancing the
2
hair’s pH level and sealing the cuticle to leave hair in its most compact, healthy condition. If you want to restore the manageability of your hair or make sure that you hold a curl or style, I would apply the KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT, which is a revolutionary Brazilian blow dry a.k.a. the Permanent Blow Dry. This treatment not only banishes frizz and seals split ends, but it also makes the hair resistant to humidity. It transforms hair, making it soft and smooth and giving it a great shine. The Keratin Smoothing Treatment eliminates frizz and gives the hair instant manageability. It is completely safe to use on coloured or highlighted hair. After having a Keratin Smoothing Treatment you will be able to blast your hair dry in double quick time, achieving beautifully conditioned and easy to manage hair. The “Just Blow Dried” look lasts between 2 to 4 months. It has made life easier and happier for countless women living in hot climates around the world.
3
To further prevent frizzy, brittle and unmanageable hair, I also recommend the award winning DISMISS THE FRIZZ range of products from Redken for use at home. The range includes a sulphate free shampoo, a conditioner for humidity protection and smoothing, repairing mask, a FPF smoothing lotion spray, FPF leavein smoothing oil serum, or the stronger FPF smoothing control cream. I will be happy to recommend the appropriate product strength for your hair, so that you can fight the appearance of frizz with lasting control in the comfort of your own home.
4

is easy I
t's not easy building a body and it can be damn difficult to get in shape. For many it's hard to find the motivation to work out and for some it's a chore even making time to squeeze in their sessions. We want to lose that stubborn fat so much we put ourselves through grueling cardio sessions, sometimes without eating and for those who dream of competing, those extra sets and reps just burn and hurt. That's the hard part. So why then do so many of us then go and skip and neglect the easy part? Said easy part being such a crucial element to our progress. REST. Some say that I am addicted to fitness and working out and I don't really disagree (passion and obsession are close relatives) and so very many of us do develop a compulsion and obsession once we find a rhythm and start to see results. This can often turn into to an eagerness that will ultimately become counterproductive to our goals. Put simply…. TRAINING + NO REST = LACK OF DEVELOPMENT Let's touch on some of the main reasons why.
CNS OVERLOAD
The Central Nervous System (CNS) is probably the most misunderstood and overlooked part of recovery. Think of it as your bodies main computer that everything runs off. When the CNS becomes fatigued or overloaded it can lead to poor quality training over time. The job of your CNS is to recruit and activate muscle fibers via "motor units". So the more stress we apply to the
HEALTH & FITNESS muscle the CNS will dictate how many fibers are activated. If our muscle fibers are being activated optimally by a fully rested Central Computer then ultimately we are going to be a lot stronger at this point, lift more, run more, grow more. A common thing for me to hear is "well I do legs today so is giving my upper body a rest". It just doesn't work that way once you appreciate everything puts stress on our CNS. It is just absolutely essential that your CNS is allowed to recover properly. If it becomes run down, your ability to build muscle and burn fat will decline fast!
3 WAYS YOU CAN HELP YOUR CNS RECOVER: PERIODISATION Some people will train their set routine for a month or two then change it up. I prefer to change up a lot more frequently, sometimes every other session. For example training chest high intensity (high weight/low reps) for a short session one day then next chest day I will maybe perform more volume (less weight more reps) and time under tension. Periodisation
not only keeps your body guessing but can actually help put less stress on your CNS. Also understanding your current condition and mind frame can be essential for optimising progress. For example if you are tired, slightly unwell, injured, stressed or even hungover, then perhaps acknowledging that you are going to be far from your best might dictate that today you will use another technique. Less weight and more timing and rep range? You don't need to go hell for leather every session! MAGNESIUM Try a supplement with magnesium before bed (300-400mg) to help relax your CNS during your sleep. Magnesium also helps to keep blood pressure normal, bones strong, and the heart rhythm steady. Epsom salts is a great option to add to your evening bath as it can be absorbed through the skin. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY This is a phrase my clients hear from me on a daily basis but it doesn't only apply to our lifting. Focus on training for quality rather than quantity. Training is about getting the results

HEALTH & FITNESS you need and then resting. Some need to train more and have the capacity to do so, but quality over quantity is key to optimizing CNS recovery. Make your sessions count and train less.
S.A.I.D.
In allowing and promoting recovery, you will experience specific adaptation to imposed demands, which is called the SAID principle. As the body compensates for the stresses of training, it will adapt by growing stronger, gaining power, and increasing its work capacity. Without adequate recovery time your body won't adapt and this will ultimately lead to a plateau. You don't grow in the gym. You stimulate the muscles and you grow in your bed and at rest. A scientific fact that most struggle to grasp. So what can I do on my rest day to stay active?
PEET'S TIP
Make use of a rest day by learning and applying a good foam rolling technique. Massage, Muscle Activation (MAT), and Active Release Therapy (ART) can work wonders for injured athletes. For a while now it has become popular to self massage using a tool called a Foam Roller. A foam roller is simply a cylindrical piece of some type of extruded hard-celled foam. Similar to those pool noodle floaty things but a little more dense and thicker. The techniques are simple. Using your own body weight and agility, you roll specific muscle groups against a firm foam roller to mimic a deep, gliding massage. Use the roller to search for tender areas or trigger points and to roll these areas to decrease density and over-activity. It hurts like hell so be prepared to grit your teeth but the relief can be worth it. The major areas that respond well to the foam roller are glute max and hip rotators:
CORRECTIVE EXERCISE
Been feeling a tight lower back when squatting or deadlifting? How about that front delt and shoulder pain during your bench press? We've all experienced niggles and pains during our sessions but most will push through in the pursuit of progress. If your gagging to get in the gym on your rest day then perhaps a corrective exercise day can plug the gap and actually be productive while still at rest. Research some good stretch and movement techniques and put them to practice. Foam rolling is also a great tool (read Peet's Tip). I once suffered a stressful lower back to the extent that I would struggle to put on my socks. Way back then little did I know that the issue was actually in my glute. A few weeks of focused corrective stretching and my injury blues were gone. Use some very lightweight, resistance bands or just bodyweight and go through some of your exercises working solely on mind muscle connection and muscle contraction. Regularly practicing this technique can improve your natural connection and glute/muscle activation during your heavy session.
• Improved blood circulation throughout your skin, fascia, muscles, and even tendons and ligaments where you can access them with a foam roller. • Through improved blood circulation, more efficient exchange of nutrients and waste products at a cellular level, leading to better overall cellular function and inter-cellular communication. • Lengthening of short (tight) muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Some muscles (like hip flexors) and ligaments (iliotibial band) are prone to shortening, and are difficult to effectively stretch and apply therapeutic pressure to using standard massage and trigger point therapy techniques. But with a foam roller, you can apply deep pressure massage to such areas and lengthen shortened tissues, thereby preventing physical imbalances that can predispose you to injury. • Promotion of optimal spinal range of motion. You can accomplish this by slowly rolling your spine against a foam roller and pausing whenever you feel restrictions to allow your joints and surrounding tissues to stretch.
BOTTOM LINE I know we are eager and love to be in the gym and active. But we just simply have to force ourselves to take the rest for the greater good. There are so many elements needed to be successful and build a physique or improve our fitness. Progressive load, cardio and conditioning, nutrition, supplementation, water intake and some prioritise some more than others but take it from me and experience. Adequate rest is right at the top, AND IT'S THE EASIEST PART!

RESTAURANT REVIEW
TORO BURGER LOUNGE
Marbella´s Paseo Maritime has gained a fantastic new addition to its plethora of restaurants, the innovative and tantalising Toro Burger Lounge.
O
n the first month of opening, Toro had already achieved its first prize. Their house burger “Toro Burger” (the double one – be warned its massive!) was mentioned by the most famous Web Channel in Brazil calling it “The Perfect Burger.” Toro Burger Lounge, designed by the architects Ana Salinero and Pedro Ayora, has a really relaxed, chilled vibe about it. As well as fantastic food there is a great cocktail, smoothie and milkshake selection to choose from. On arrival our testers clocked an impressive chilli based cocktail on their Toro TV Channel which they were invited to try. Made with Toro´s exclusive Aperol, Malibu, Sprite and Cayenne Pepper and decorated with a whole chilli, it was refreshing and had a real kick about it but luckily not too spicy. Our other tester opted for Toro´s Summer Limonade which contained cava, lime ice-cream and honey. Sweet yet not too creamy it was definitely an impressive drink and one to cross off your tried and tested cocktail list! Next onto the food, which we were dying to sample. Toro serves up the finest 100% Gallician burgers and there is a huge range of 14 burgers to choose from - which have been given famous city or landmark names. Our testers tucked into the London Eye which has a black burger bun, crispy bacon, tomato and a blue cheese sauce. The burger was cooked to perfection
and there was lashings of sauce and although the burger was black (dyed by squid ink apparently) it tasted gorgeous. A trip to Toro Burger Lounge would not be complete without testing the stacked house special Toro Burger. Laden with two 200 gram burgers in a red bun, double Edam cheese, double Chedder cheese, bacon, pickles, ketchup, onion rings and homemade mayonnaise, it is definitely not for the faint hearted. Our tester said it tasted amazing but could not completely finish the impressive dish. If you don´t fancy the burger menu there is a huge range of other dishes to sample. From Kentucky Wings to Nachos and Gouda Fingers there is something to suit every tastebud. Plus there also are 5 salads to try from the refreshing Tropical with lettuce, yoghurt sauce, cherry tomatoes, cheese splinters and strawberries to Toro´s Cervice (also their speciality) with fresh white fish, shrimps, octopus marinated in authentic “tiger milk” with onion, jalapenos, and tomatoes – you will not be disappointed with this varied and interesting menu selection. As well as fabulous food and signature cocktails, you can listen to good music (a play every Friday and a live DJ every Sunday sunset), you can also watch blockbuster movies, football championships and enjoy the beautiful view of Marbella’s sea from the terrace.
To enjoy a meal at Toro Burger Lounge call +34 952 764 412 or visit their website at www.toroburger.es to make an online booking.

The Art Wanson Gallery, located in the Marbella Club Hotel, will be hosting an exhibition for Lirone, a French photographer, who´s most prized pieces of art will be on display here in Marbella until 15th September. Those that attend will be able to admire the works of a visual artist that has had his work featured all over the world in destinations like Paris, Lyon, New York, San Francisco, Geneva and Singapore amongst others. Furthermore, the photographer will also be displaying some of his work of table-top sculptures and figures made out of musical instruments.. Born in 1964, Lirone´s career started in 1994 specialising in young baby and children portraits with hints of madness. At the end of the 90´s he decided to extend his knowledge of photography into the world of industry around France and subsequently all over the world as well (United States, Great Britain, Switzerland.) He then moved on and switched to a new style by creating his first pieces of work in the automotive, culinary art and jewellery industries. In 2006 he created a unique and innovative concept that combined aesthetics with an original photo as well as a painting with a sculpture. This new direction in his work revolutionised the way we now can look at art, consequently created a visual image that has three dimensions. Notable companies have acquired the pieces of artwork, for example LVMH, Grévin Musuem, EuroMedia France, Van Cleef & Arpels and many more individual collectors

THE MODERN DATING GAME I
s the modern dating scene horribly messed up? It really doesn't matter what age you are - we live in a world of dating singles who I believe are quite frankly so fed up and disheartened in ever finding true love.
Dating is a job, well its my job! I am owner of Adoreus International, a bespoke and exclusive introductions service. I also collaborate with one of the worlds leading agencies as their international consultant. I work with clients in the UK, Europe and more recently Dubai. I work mainly with busy professionals and HNW Individuals who are keen to find their ideal life partner, future husband or wife. We match likeminded and exceptional men and women who excel in all areas of their lives and who share the same type of lifestyle, important high values and similar life goals. My clients are internationally minded, educated, successful and have no trouble “dating" on there own but finding the right one to share their life with is often not as easy as many of you will perhaps experience yourself. Adoreus offers a unique and personal approach. It provides a modern, fashionable methodology of luxury matchmaking with old fashioned values, with our services carefully tailored in a bespoke manner for every individual client. This allows us to handcraft each and every important introduction that we make. Until you fall in love. Then, our work is done.
94 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 24
I hear people complain about the single life all of the time. We live in a world where so many people are afraid to feel anything genuine, or at the very least, are afraid to show it. People want to appear casual, too casual so how do we get past this? How do we make moves that allow us to grow into a relationship? If I like someone, I want to hang out with him. It’s as simple as that. Or at least it should be. But we are second guessing all the moves 'The Dating Rules' and what we need to do to achieve the results we are looking for. • • • • • • • • •
How do I engage enough without looking needy? How much space should be given between dates in the beginning? Should the female ask for a second date or should we wait for the man? Can women call the morning after the date or do we wait for him? When and how do I know if we are in an exclusive relationship? Should we respond to messages straight away or wait and appear less eager? When is it ok to be intimate? Should the man pay on a first date? How available should I be?
(SIGH) The list goes on....
Why can't we be ourselves? The answer is you can and you absolutely should be! If you have to adapt your personality to fit with someone its not a good start. I always say it takes 3 months of dating before you can really decide if you are getting into the right kind of relationship with the right kind of person for you. So you meet a great person, you had an amazing first date and decide to go on another and then another...it is going well and you are already thinking of what the future may hold for you both. But my advice is to really date this person for at least 3 months before you get carried away! Why? Well 3 months is normally a sufficient amount of time for you to start to see how they run their lives, and if that really fits with you. You will experience possible mood swings, learn what makes them smile and also what may annoy them. You have time to start to ask more intimate questions within month 2 and see just how open and honest they are. So what I am saying is DATE the hell out of this person before you start over thinking things! You should be going out, wining and dining. Theatre perhaps! Bowling, cinema, a mini break or whatever
RELATIONSHIPS floats both your boats! Activities, experiences...the whole dating thing. I don't suggest falling into spending every date evening in one of your homes watching Netflix, once maybe! But don't fall into a routine of that kind anytime soon. Getting into a comfort zone too quickly can turn into boredom, you slow down and possibly lose excitement for each other too soon. You are meant to be learning about one another and creating experiences is the way to do this. You will learn how you each react to situations, what makes you laugh and smile, what brings out your fears and what excites you. Dating is not 'hanging out!' We do that with our friends. Be warned you can end up in the friends with benefits zone. I am talking about dating! Dinners, movies, activities - yes courtship!! In my opinion, men should pay for the first 'date' - if he is interested in a potential relationship men WILL lead - men are hunters by nature. When men ask why they should pay for any date with a women the truth is most women pre-dating a man will invest in herself - hairdressers, a new dress perhaps, nails etc. to be attractive for the man if she has a genuine interested in the gentleman. Both are spending money to impress each other! Best foot forward if you want to create a good first impression. Since it is my job to advise my clients on this matter once explained, it is viewed as a no brainer. Be careful with text messages and whatsapp Although it's a great tool to use casually be careful expressing too much in text form. How are men and
women supposed to know each other's intentions when words are sprawled across a computer screen without any emotional impact? The Internet utilises phrases like “lol” for “Laughing Out Loud,” but do they have a phrase for “This is actually a heartfelt message” Plus, how romantic is it to receive a first “I love you” through a text message? An unreturned text doesn't necessarily mean you're unwanted! People have lives. They aren't sitting there, waiting for your text. If you are sitting around waiting for texts, maybe you should get a new hobby, exercise, something. Allow things to be natural, stress free and honest. Respect other people enough to tell them the truth. If someone makes you happy, tell them. If someone inspires you, tell them. If you’re not interested in someone, please just tell them. Everyone is human and we’re all just trying to understand one another in this crazy world. Be honest with other people about how you feel, and don’t get lost in playing the game. People who are genuinely interested in you will show clear signs. If you are guessing, receiving mixed messages ask what the persons intentions are. It's not rocket science but we do seem to allow ourselves to get into confusing and complicated situations. And for the women out there men will show very clear signs once he finds the women he wants to be with! Be authentic, be honest, be yourself! If you are not really compatible move on…There is someone for everyone.

Secrets could emerge now so I hope you have nothing stuffed in your closet other than fashion faux pas, otherwise no matter how hard you try to keep that door wedged, the truth will out this month. Something you hear could have you looking at a lover in a whole new light but whether this is a positive or negative thing remains to be seen. One thing is certain now, opportunities to advance at work or to just launch a more aesthetic, pared-down and beautiful lifestyle (and you!) could see you embarking on a whole new cycle where quality - be it in relationships, ideas, your wardrobe and work, rules rather than quantity. Embrace the idea of less is more now. And when it comes to love remember - all you need is that one special connection. September lets you see if you have it - or not.
Fated encounters, star-crossed lovers and cosmic timing rule this month for you as you could find yourself in the right place at the right time to make that right connection. Or what you have been working towards now finds you or occurs naturally and on its own. You could embrace the truth that when you are ready for a particular experience or event to occur it will just happen with ease but when the time is not right, all the effort in the world on your part won’t get you the result you are after. As the Sufi poet Rumi wrote in the 13th Century: ‘Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere - they are in each other all along’. So is success or whatever else it is you seek. You are encountering fate this month - in all the best possible ways.

Changes or moves on the home front could be the precursor of other changes most notably to your romantic status or in just getting yourself noticed for whatever it is you do. You’re entering a cycle now where for the next 12 months you could find yourself in the spotlight in some way or else the centre of attention - or the centre of attention in one special person’s world. Luck is going to be with you now so act like you have a million dollars in the bank even if you don’t know where your next penny is coming from. You may have a pot noodle lifestyle right now but the next year could take you flying into the champagne and caviar league. Act it, believe it, then you will be it. The end of the year and start of 2017 has a lot in store for you lucky Geminis.
Big news could open doors and one of these could be to a new home as you have the best cycle for property dealings and long term planning for 12 years and this begins this month. For the next 12 months upgrade your living arrangements in some way and many of you could see yourselves getting that foot on the property ladder or moving several runs up it. If an overseas move is on your mind, then it is definitely time to take that step. The end of the month brings wonderful opportunities around lasting love and romance and singles could literally meet that game changer. Expect things to get hot very fast. You could literally snag that person who is nice to come home to.
If a lover can’t stir your soul you may be asking yourself whether they are the one for you. You need depth combined with sensuality and perhaps that sense of thrill that may have been missing of late. Put that out there and chances are you will attract that energy back in kind. Business, communications and commercial activities are now set to dominate over the next 12 months. Time to think big when it comes to your ideas and anything to do with the written word. Pick your medium and find new ways of connecting with people. Above all, don’t be a ‘gunner’. You know what I mean - that person who works a dead-end job but is always talking about what they are ‘gunner do’. First you need the dream but dreamers need to become do-ers to make it real. Take action now and set the wheels in motion. Fate is waiting to answer your call.
Expect big changes around relationships, partnerships and love affairs now. What are your expectations around love or how you are treated by others? The outer world always reflects what our inner beliefs are - whether we are aware of them or not. Are yours due for an upgrade? People who are an asset to you in more ways than one feature and your bank account will also reflect your inner expectations on how you are valued or treated by the world at large. Are you in the black or in the red? Treat any deficit now with self-love and seeing yourself in a new light. Upgrade those expectations if necessary and look forward to new avenues of income opening up for you in the next 12 months. Which could also include a fast lane to more love and just better relationships all round.

Time to dust off those big dreams and expect at least one of those major goals to be reached in the next 12 months. This September marks the start of a 12 month cycle where you have the best chance of attaining a huge personal goal than has come your way in the past 12 years. So what are you waiting for? This should be something close to your heart that just thinking about it has your pulse racing. For the next year words like ‘impossible’ ‘can’t’ and ‘impractical’ no longer exist for you. Plan for a big trip either literally or figuratively and understand that the stars are now within reach for you. Just wishing on them however won’t get you anywhere. Take that first step into a larger world and life experience and let the good times roll!
What is it you really need, Scorpio? What we need and what we think we want are often two entirely different things but the next 12 months should see you get very clear about this as your true path or calling opens up for you. Your intuition is like a high-speed connection to universal wisdom so please pay attention to it. If you follow where it is nudging you, what you need can be found at the end of the journey. You’re in an Eat, Pray, Love cycle. Treat everyone you meet as a teacher and every experience whether good or bad, just as that. An experience only. If you can do this and let go of judgement, then you’ll receive the answers you are seeking - and who or whatever it is you need, at your destination. Enjoy the journey as well as meeting the destination point - this is all part of life.
Make a wish, Sag! Better yet - don’t just make one - make three and look forward to at least one being granted for you in the next 12 months. Your social life is set to expand and be on the look out for those happy-golucky and adventurous souls who are very much on your wavelength. Now is the best time to make an effort to meet new people or to join a group, club or take up a new pastime which connects you to others. Something you started in the past and in which you have invested in heavily now pays off for you proving that your faith was justified all along. Unexpected developments on the romance front could see a former flame return and you realise the fire is still burning. It is now time to rekindle the faith on all levels this September, Sagittarius.
You’re setting sail on a new cycle of adventure this month Capricorn and this is going to involve discovering just what you can achieve in your career. Look back 12 years (if you are old enough!) and think about what opportunities for rewards and recognition came your way. Which ones did you accept? If you let opportunity pass you by, ask yourself why you did that? Don’t judge, just observe and then resolve not to repeat this. You should be aiming high in the next 12 months and it is time to upgrade your professional image and also be seen as someone who knows their stuff and also where they are going. Bosses, mentors and people in positions of influence and power will get behind you now. The next year means you no longer have to fake it till you make it - you’ve not only made it, you’re the real deal.
Are you ready to go exploring, Aquarius? Travel and far horizons are calling and it’s time to plan that trip of a lifetime knowing that in the next 12 months you have a better than average chance of taking it. Any dealings with foreigners, people or businesses from overseas, studying, the law, the mass media or animals - especially large animals, will bring you unexpected benefits in more than one area. Something - a country, a place, a person or an experience, is waiting for you to broaden your horizons and change your view of the world and where you fit into it. Dare to do now. Life is like a wild tiger. You can either lie down and let it put its paw on your head - or you can get on its back and ride it. You know which one you want to do now.
Without change things cannot improve and you cannot evolve. Resisting big changes over the next 12 months will only hold you back and result in frustration and putting the past on constant replay. Instead let go and go with that flow. Fate, destiny, karma - call it what you will, is sending you an invitation to go on a magic carpet ride. In order to fly however, you need to leave behind what’s familiar to you - and lighten the load. This may mean letting something go which can be scary at first. Whether you know it or not you are crafting a new future and a brand new you in the process. This requires leaving your comfort zone for now and heading out to where the magic can happen. Enjoy the ride! And be sure to have fun at your chosen destination Pisces.

Each month Marbella Rocks will be quick firing questions at unsuspecting famous faces. This month, we’ve sprung it on Zolan Thompson, British soul singer, songwriter and record producer who visited Marbella to perform at Ambrosia Gourmet Market´s first anniversary bash and to commemorate best pal Amy Winehouse´s memory as it was exactly 5 years to the day that she passed away..
Welcome to Marbella Zolan, how are you enjoying your time here? Truly amazing, great weather, really nicy city and its quite ironic I was here 5 years ago and had to get an emergency flight home as I found out about Amy. You first became famous as a friend and backing singer to Amy Winehouse, what was she like? She was incredible, she was sweet, she was talented just a really, really lovely girl – I will treasure her forever. You wrote a song in Memory of her “You Let Me Breathe” - what is your fondest memory of her in the 6 years you toured and worked with her? I have so many memories, the best was the Grammy´s when she won and ran into my arms crying. I said, “Baby you did it.” She said, “No, we did it.”
Now to the silly stuff? If you could only take three things to a desert island what would they be? A phone with wifi, you (oh, what a flirt!) and good food. Ideal celebrity dinner party guests? Dave Dash, 50 Cent and Beyonce. Their “bosses” and I would learn so much! If you had to be an animal, what would you be? I have been called a cheetah before. Of the animal kind! What all the girls want to know, are you single? Yes. Best pick up line you've used? Where I´m from (Harlesden, West London) it´s considered quite cheesey. When I meet a woman I just want to get to know her.
You write all your own songs, what inspires you? Life inspires me and truth inspires me. When´s your debut album “Liquid Sonic Sex” coming out? My album is coming out next year. I have been touring around the world this year in preparation – it´s going really well. You´ve met and socialised with a lot of celebrities including Rita Ora, Mark Ronson and Chaka Khan – can you let us in on a bit of gossip about anyone?! I never kiss and tell!
118 MARBELLAROCKS | ISSUE 24
Celebrity shag? Beyonce (if she wasn´t with Jay-Z.) Best advice ever given? Amy said be honest and capture the truth. When I started to make music it was about making money and proving myself now it´s about expressing myself through my music. What couldn't you live without? My family (and my phone – haha!) Most embarrassing thing in your wardrobe? 3 leather jackets – a red, beige and black Indian style with tassles – a stylist bought them and I have never worn them. I still can´t flog them – even my friends can´t on eBay! Greatest achievement? Touring around the world. Best thing about Marbella? Unique architecture and great people.
