Marburn's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Three-Year Plan

Page 1

From our DEI Co-Chairs and Head of School We are proud to share an overview of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee’s three-year plan for systemic change. While our work in DEI has been ongoing for several years, we are pleased to report a renewed focus and commitment to the work as evidenced by this document and in our working plan.

MARBURN ACADEMY

DIVERSITY EQUITY & INCLUSION A THREE-YEAR PLAN FOR SYSTEMIC CHANGE BEGINNING SCHOOL YEAR 2020-2021

Do we have work to do? Yes. Do we wish we were further along? Absolutely. With that said, we are proud of the strides that were made before this year in formalizing an initiative and excited about the direction we’re heading. We intend for this plan to be an essential bridge to our next organizational strategic plan. In the next three years, we will ask the tough questions, challenge our assumptions, systems, and processes, confront implicit bias, listen and collaborate, have hard conversations and push towards systemic change across our organization. So when the time comes to plan for the next strategic plan, we know DEI strategies are positioned for success. This work won’t be visible to many, it will be largely internal, but it is so essential that we get this foundational piece right. No more overlays or add-ons. This plan is designed to ensure that DEI becomes an integral part of the work we do with students, families, and our communities. So who’s in? We look forward to partnering with you. Warm Regards,

Leigh Hill
