Born and raised in Rome, Italy, my interest in arts and craftsmanship developped from an early age through the interest for painting, music and travelling. After completing a high school path focused on ancient Greek and Roman heritage and culture, I chose to pursue Architecture as a natural coming together of different fields of creativity and research in the Università IUAV di Venezia. The whole environment of architecture school and of the city of Venice itself made me question the relationship between contemporary architecture and heritage. Thus, the choice was to focus on issues of conservation and research with a master degree in Conservation of Architecture in Università la Sapienza di Roma. Throughout university related studies and side projects, which involved video-making, curatorial practice and writing, I was able to grow my very own take on architecture and its practice. As for today, I strongly believe in architecture as a form of non-verbal communication, that is capable of shaping landscapes, contexts, environments and ways of living, thus societies. Hence, the awareness of the social role of the architect unravels three intertwining paths: on one side the need of a clear understanding of what to communicate - the message; secondly, the research for which is the best possible physical entity capable of conveying such message - the shape; lastly, the need of tools as for how to communicate, involving construction techniques and representation methods - the form solution. In this modus operandi rural and monumental architecture and archaeology cover a pivotal role, not only as the root of societies but as an encyclopedia of solutions to clearly defined problems spacing from water supplies to worship. Nowadays my main areas of interest are conservation, reuse and interpretation of traditional architecture, transcultural architecture, exhibition design, and historical research.

Project type Temporary installation
Year 2015
Supervisor Prof. Arch. Inaki Carnicero

The project started as an exercise of manipulation of simple paper sheets without any purpose of function. We were asked to play and create different shapes and modules with folding, cutting, twisting. After few days the real project was unveiled, and the request became to adapt the chosen shape to be an architecture/art
installation in Madrid’s former slaughterhouse. Our final project consists of a series of bamboo sticks that create two parallel corridors: one has a fixed volumetry whereas the other one is continuosly changing following the shape of a wave. This allows to create two parallel but opposed experiences based on the perception of space and light.
HOUSING MARGHERA Location Marghera, Venice (IT)
Project type Social housing complex
Year 2015
Supervisor Prof. Arch. Pietro Valle
Team Margherita Antolini Elena Bortoli Alberto Pellizzer Giulia Zilli
The project site is a not built area at the border between the garden city and the industrial area of Marghera. Following a precise request of a mixed-use complex, the project tries to define a new community zone with a semi public square at lower level, framed by shops, offices and a green slope. At street level there are two lines of
apartments of different sizes (2 to 7 people), each one with a private garden and underground parking lot. Closing the composition, one unit is dedicated to residence for the elderly. This part also have a view over the park that divides from the industrial area, creating a green barrier between the city and the factories.
INDUSTRIAL ARCHAEOLOGY Location Mercato Metronio Rome (IT)
Project type Requalification
Year 2018
Supervisor Prof. Arch. Luciano Cupelloni
Team Margherita Antolini Simone Canini
The Mercato Metronio is an early example of prestressed reinforced concrete structures in Rome, by Riccardo Morandi. The building today still serves as a market square at the ground floor, whereas the other levels are abandoned. The project aims to requalificate the building on a technological level first in order to enhance its
qualities, and to strenghten its role as a neighbourhood landmark. Thus, the choice to keep the outside untouched and transfrom the inner courtyard in a green square surrounded by the market at the ground floor and accessories services in the upper levels, with the green walls serving as thermo-hygrometric control system.

Survey is a fundamental tool for the architect to read and understand his surroundings. In this case, the survey of Campo San Barnaba was made through different tools including topography, Laser Scanner data acquisition, Structure from Motion and photogrammetry. It was then possible to draw accurate profiles of the 02:1 alacS ,atnaiP
buildings facing the square, as well as of the pavement pattern. Special attention was reserved for the Chiesa di San Barnaba, a XVIII century church, which was studied in relation to its surroundings as well as in detail, in order to analyse any possible deformations and construction inaccuracies. Palmanova is a Late Renaissance star fort. Meant to be the ideal city, the original project never took off and nowadays 1/6 of the town is empty and abandoned because of demilitarisation. Reflecting on the issues of heritage and identity of the place, the project tries to put a limitation to the wide area in order to create some
new urban sceneries that can host activities linked to the current strenght of this area of Italy: agriculture and craftsmanship. Thus a urban axis connects the central square with the church, the new market and squares, and terminates in an open air theatre inspired by the ancient ones and incorporated in the ramparts system.

Project type Architecture project
Year 2015
Supervisor Prof. Arch. Richard Murphy

Improving a heritage’s site reception system is a delicate issue that requires a deep understanding of the site. Castelvecchio is a Medieval castle with many interventions, including Carlo Scarpa’s extention and garden. The new cafè, shop and ticket office wants to be a contemporary addition in this context, not prevaling nor disappearing in
it. To connect with Carlo Scarpa’s project we choose to only work with hand drawings and models. The 2 floors building merges in the castle’s geometry. Both in interiors and façades a tassel system was chosen to quote Scarpa’s references with a contemporary material: corten steel, whose color reminds of the castle’s walls bricks.

The Tabulae Rasae project is the result of a multidisciplinary workshop held at MAXXI in Rome, aimed at coordinating the different know-hows involved in the making of an exhibition. The team was composed of architects, art historians and philosophers. The workflow was very simple: firstly, a concept was chosen, researched and
discussed, then the selected list of artworks was divided in sub sections. At this point the architects took charge of merging the museum space - designed by Zaha Hadid - with the concept, without ignoring the technical requirements of the single artworks as well as the spatial implications of the idea of the tabula rasa.
ROMANITY REALODED Location Ara Pacis Museum Rome (IT)
Project type Exhibition design
Year 2019
Supervisor Prof. Arch. Paola Guarini
Team Margherita Antolini Andreea Michaela Chirca Catalina Dumitru
The exhibition “E42: A new idea of Romanity” dealt with the relationship between the fascist dictatorship and the ancient Roman heritage through official documents and the works of different kind of artists - painters, sculptors, architects, designers. The exhibition itinerary was articulated in different zones corrisponding to different sub themes. The layout is studied especially for the space designed by Richard Meier for the Ara Pacis Museum.
Few elements are used to divide the space, exhibit the artworks and create an evoking atmosphere- The colors uses, black, white and red, have a strong symbolic meaning in this setting, whereas the grid system refers to the idea of a prison but of an industrial construction as well, as a reference to the role of the artist during this era. Lastly, the metal wireframe coloumns that act as a counterweight to Meier’s travertine ones are a open interpretation of the theme of the exhibition.

The ephemerous is an artistic practice developped during the Baroque era, evolving from theatre, architecture, science and sculpture. During these events the urban landscape would be temporally modified in order to celebrate the power and deeds of a member of aristocracy or clergy. The research aims to study the phenomenon and
focuses on a specific case study. The temporary architecture was analysed through historical documents in its formal and symbolic aspects, then joined to its original surroundings. Lastly, it was possible to integrate the apparatus from 1661 with today’s context, opening to the opportunity to show the results in Virtual Reality.
