Concept Generale: declinato in Poetic Design o Immersive Photography Là dove il Cielo diventa Mare e le barche sembrano planare eleganti tra nuvole schiumose e flutti vaporosi si collocano le proposte per l’evento di Imperia. Le parole chiave sono Sinestesia e Immersione.

Maybe you’ve seen it in a drawing, a movie or maybe even in a dream.


This is a private flight in the home of Luigi Prina. The ships are just there, waiting...

Dozens of them, one beside another, hanging by a strand of nylon. They appear well behaved and disciplined, but underneath it all their impatience betrays their every little fibre. It just takes a person to walk past, a draft from the window or a word spoken a little louder than a whisper to make them jolt into action. They come to life and ripple as if pushed by invisible waves, but they are not in search of the ocean. It’s the bliss of the moment when the hand that holds them lets them go, free to fly high above the ground. They fly just above our heads, higher and higher every time.


It is a privilege that belongs to them.

Mere mortals like us can only experience something similar on rare occasions in life. It’s like a splash of water on your back on a hot day in August, the first metre pedalled on a bicycle as a child, or an unexpected kiss on the lips. Luigi has the elastic bands for his flying ships shipped directly from Japan. They are made from pure Indian rubber and are the only elastic bands that are able to last for up to 20 years.

The flying ships are made from ultrathin paper and balsa wood. Everything is optimized for flight: from the weight (between 20 and 50 grams) to the aerodynamic shape. They fly like any propeller airplane. The only difference is that here the propeller is powered by an internal elastic band and not an engine


Luigi Prina looks on with devoted eyes, carefully following his ships on their intrepid voyage. He picks them up when they fall down; he repairs and takes care of them. They are extremely grateful to him and to pay him back they give him a gift. Everyday his face lights up with the smile of a child and it’s all thanks to them.

e In Between”: Poetic Exhibit

Ipotesi, idee e considerazioni - All’interno di una tenso-struttura ricreare attraverso proiezioni e design di luce un’ambientazione avvolgente tridimensionale e dinamica di cielo e mare che si mescolano ( anche a seconda dei cambiamenti della luce naturale e delle condizioni atmosferiche dall’alba alla notte ). Vedi slides successive per due diverse opzioni di installazione. - Selezionare da estratti di letteratura una serie di citazioni ad hoc che verranno proiettare in movimento scorrevole sulla superficie della struttura ( si potrebbe coinvolgere un calligrafo - Luca Barcellona - per produrre il video o le maschere delle frasi che “prendono forma tra cielo e mare”...come pensieri, come sogni..... - Studio di una colonna sonora adeguata - Studio di un’installazione-esposizione per i molti modelli di Luigi Prina - Dimostrazione di “volo” da ipotizzare a seconda della regia dell’evento ( cocktail? prima della partenza? dopo?......) - Commissionare a Prina 10 modellini di navi ( una per ciascun anno ) ispirate alle diverse tappe del circuito - il nome potrebbe essere quello della località oppure il numero progressivo. - In alternativa e a seconda della disponibilità dell’architetto/artista e del budget commissionare il modellino volante di Eileen. - Asta di beneficenza per i bambini: i modellini o il modellino di Eileen verranno messi all’asta. Ho pensato ai bambini perchè l’argomento e i soggetti e le modalità hanno sicuramente una fascinazione delicata e naif....poeticamente ludica. - Immagine integrata: Gli inviti potrebbero essere dei fogli pre-tagliati di carta lavorata a mano ultra fine con la forma di una nave volante da appendere. Oppure incisa effetto engraved per introdurre il concetto di “tridimensinalità” e “sensorialità” Oppure semplicemente uno schizzo manuale del progetto realizzato da Prina.


Ipotesi Installazione 1: Poetic design Attraverso un sistema d’illuminazione si possono proiettare le ombre degli oggetti sospesi (barche, nuvole, frasi, numeri) e creare un ambiente immersivo e metaforico. Luce naturale/suoni -musica ad hoc. I pannelli di proiezione saranno canvas bianchi. Tutto è sospeso e si muoverà al minimo soffio di vento o spostamento d’aria.

1. Definizione del tema principale: Di Navi, Navi Volanti e Sogni “COSI’ SOPRA, COSI’ SOTTO” - Partendo da questo assunto metafisico per cui tutto ciò che esiste nei Cieli ha una corrispondenza con ciò che sta sulle Terre emerse e sui Mari, vorrei proporre una tematica che parla dell’arte della Navigazione attraverso viaggi veri o sognati, dei protagonisti eroici e dei mezzi e strumenti “magici”: le Navi. Tra Mitologia, Letteratura, Arti Umane, Design.

L’arte della Navigazione


Non si può dire che il sogno non esista: il sogno delle navi volanti, dico; sospeso tra fantasìa e realtà, sovverte le leggi della gravitazione universale, ma si immedesima, si mimetizza in fatti, colori, situazioni, perfino nel lessico di cui i marinai sono tanto gelosi, al punto di conquistare un suo "vero" che è il suo fascino; la verità del sogno. Non so se nella vita dell'umanità, in una lontana infanzia, il limite tra realtà e sogno fosse più labile che non sia oggi; il fatto è che, nato forse con la conquista del mare da parte dell'uomo, già compare in Omero, se nella predizione di Tiresia a Ulisse, il veggente parla di remi che sono ali alle navi, La nave che vola o quanto meno, il desiderio che voli, per essere più veloce, più libera, è già nato.

Da qui la mia ricerca sulla ricca produzione letteraria che racconta proprio di questo sogno, ambito dalla Navi che partecipano a ciascuna Regata Panerai e reso reale da Prina con accuratezza tecnica, finezza d’ingegno ed elegante pensiero.

Perchè Luigi Prina. Costruttore di Navi Volanti,

Inserito ad honorem nell’edizione cinese di Monocle tra i 50 uomini più creativi del mondo. Vale la pena prendere tempo e leggere quello che con modestia, racconta. Sono nato a Milano nel 1930 e fin da piccolo ho avuto interesse per il volo. A 10 anni ho scoperto l’aeromodellismo e questa passione non mi ha più abbandonato, assieme alla passione per il disegno e le attività manuali. Grazie a mio padre ho sempre avuto a disposizione grandi quantità di carta e attrezzi da disegno, e grazie a mia madre la possibilità di realizzare tutto ciò che volevo senza paura di mettere in disordine la casa. A questo si aggiunga che all’età di 12 anni la nostra casa è stata danneggiata da un bombardamento (si era ne 1942) e mi sono trovato ad avere a mia disposizione un’ampia stanza disabitata dove ho potuto dare sfogo a tutte le mie passioni, soprattutto all’aeromodellismo, così che a 16 anni ho vinto un concorso nazionale per la progettazione di un aeromodello a motore a scoppio. Ricordo che quando mi presentai per la premiazione, a Firenze, mi chiesero: ”perché non è venuto tuo padre?” dato che dimostravo meno della mia età, e quando dissi loro che Luigi Prina ero proprio io, ci rimasero male. L’anno successivo ottenni il primo record nazionale per modelli “indoor”, una specialità appena arrivata dall’America. In quel periodo pensavo di diventare ingegnere aeronautico, ma il mio professore di disegno e storia dell’arte mi convinse a scegliere un’attività più creativa, e optai per l’architettura. Così a 17 anni abbandonai l’aeromodellismo attivo e, ottenuta a 23 anni la laurea in architettura, in 60 anni di professione ho lavorato in diverse città, come Verona, Genova, Bologna, Roma, Palermo, e Milano, naturalmente, dedicandomi prevalentemente al recupero, restauro e riuso di edifici storici come chiese, castelli medioevali, ma non solo. La passione per l’aeromodellismo però è stata sempre latente e ho tenuto corsi di questa disciplina presso club giovanili e scolaresche. A 57 anni sono diventato nonno e ho deciso di fare qualcosa di nuovo in onore della nuova generazione. In quel periodo ho conosciuto Eugenio Tomiolo, veneziano, pittore importante, poeta dialettale e grande esperto di marineria, che costruiva modelli di imbarcazioni fantasiose, che intendeva accoppiare a un libro di leggende marinare che stava scrivendo, e così è scattata l’idea delle navi volanti: “vuoi vedere - gli ho detto - che io le tue navi le faccio volare?” Ho costruito la prima nave volante e l’ho fatta volare nel suo studio, che aveva il soffitto dipinto come un cielo con le nuvole, e quando la nave ha cominciato a girare contro il soffitto, tutti i presenti hanno avuto l’impressione che quelle nuvole si muovessero. La cosa ha entusiasmato Tomiolo al punto che, rivedendolo dopo un anno, la prima cosa che mi ha detto è stata: “quelle nuvole si muovevano!!!”

Da quel giorno ha avuto inizio la costruzione delle navi volanti; ne ho realizzate forse 300, e ho trovato ispirazione nella mitologia e nella letteratura. Infatti molti sono stati i poeti che hanno fatto volare le navi con la fantasia: Dante, che canta il “folle volo” di Ulisse; Virgilio, che trasforma in ali le vele della sua nave alla vista dell’Italia; Omero, che paragona I remi alle ali; Luciano, che raggiunge in volo la luna, Orazio, Apollonio, Euripide, gli argonauti, Lodovico Ariosto, i vichinghi, l’olandese volante . . . .

Un altro incontro importante è stato quello con Mario Tedeschi, architetto più anziano di me, pittore e grande esperto di marineria. Con lui ho fatto varie manifestazioni, in cui lui parlava di mare, io del volo, e le navi volanti erano la sintesi dei due mondi. E Leonardo? E il suo sogno di volare? Come potevo ignorare le sue macchine volanti? Mi hanno chiesto se le mie navi sono in vendita. No, non penso di venderle perché sono tutte dei prototipi, realizzati senza disegni, partendo da un traccia che poi distruggo, e ne regalo qualcuna a pochi amici molto cari. E poi mi vergognerei a chiedere un prezzo troppo alto. Alla domanda: come fai a far volare le navi? Rispondo che mi ha aiutato l’esperienza di aeromodellista “indoor” di quando avevo 17 anni. Faccio periodicamente delle esibizioni di volo presso l’Istituto tecnico Feltrinelli, scuola per periti aeronautici, dove, con l’aiuto delle insegnanti di lettere, uniamo la tecnica alla letteratura, mentre gli studenti leggono passi dei poeti che ho citato. A volte il mio Parroco mi chiama per divertire i ragazzi dell’oratorio con voli di navi bibliche, come l’arca di Noè, il corvo, la colomba. Infine voglio svelare il segreto che permette di pensare e realizzare in tranquillità i propri sogni: una moglie meravigliosa che mi sopporta da 59 anni, mi asseconda nelle mie follie e non mi ha mai rimproverato per il disordine che caratterizza il mio ambiente di lavoro e tutta la casa. Il suo nome è Mariateresa.


2. Scelta e definizione struttura adeguata In collaborazione con l’architetto Prina, si è definito che la struttura ideale dovrà essere una CUPOLA, la forma “aurea” più armonica esistente per racchiudere le idee. Di facile installazione e rimozione permettere di creare un ambiente raccolto e “etereo”, senza confini, in cui cielo e mare si incontrano e fondono, dove esporre e far volare/navigare i modelli. Il diametro dovrà essere non inferiore ai 15 mt per permettere un volo controllato ed adeguato, avere gli spazi funzionali e gestibili per le strutture di arredamento interne, quali pannelli, videowall etc. Perché una cupola? - per l’ampia superficie personalizzabile, interna ed esterna - per la versatilità e adattabilità all’ambiente - per la rapidità di montaggio -perché racchiude il massimo volume possibile con la minima superficie

PRESSOSTATICA - Best Choice. Si tratta di una membrana che viene semplicemente gonfiata, dimezzando i tempi di messa in opera. Non avendo strutture meccaniche che la sorreggono, questa cupola è adatta per essere utilizzata nelle proiezioni creative (sia all´esterno che all´interno). Leggera e pratica. Il concetto di light design e mapping, che verrà descritto successivamente, potrà avere un ruolo principale durante i momenti dell’evento. http://www.lerian.eu ( vendita, istallazione o noleggio di cupole pavimentate e pressostatiche ) Il progettualità di Light Design sarebbe quindi da considerare a parte poichè loro si occupano solo dell’istallazione.


Nell’ottica di valorizzare ed armonizzare l’evento nella sua totalità, mi permetto di suggerire un’altra idea. L’unica variabile alla sua realizzazione sarebbe l’ammontare dello spazio occupabile. E budget.... Esistono delle cupole modulari di diverse proporzioni, strutturate e collegate in continuum l’una con l’altra. Applicando lo stesso concetto di proiezioni e mapping design interno ed esterno, si potrebbe pensare di costruire una sorta di percorso dimensionale e includere in un unico spazio avviluppante tutta la regia dell’evento, ossia l’accoglienza, la premiazione, la cena e infine, a summa del “contenitore” il momento poetico del “volo” delle navi.

3. Design e contenuti degli spazi interni Gli ambenti interni dovranno prevedere una pannellatura/parete che segua la forma della struttura, creando un corridoio esterno fruibile di contenuti ed un’area interna più intima ed avvolgente dove immergersi nell’ambiente creato. Queste pareti “interattive” potranno prevedere l’utilizzo di stampe di grandi dimensioni relative al tema dai quali le navi sono state create, immagini dello studio di realizzazione, schizzi, parti di testi di ispirazione e dipinti a loro dedicate; si può ipotizzare l’installazione di uno o più video wall a dimensione, dove mostrare in loop parti e spezzoni di video relativi ai voli delle navi.Da considerarsi la creatività già sviluppata dall’autore del video/foto Gianluca Giannone. Si potrà pensare ad una alternanza/parallelismo con le Vele partecipanti al circuito di Regate Panerai, esponendone le foto, le caratteristiche, o nel caso Prina volesse, esporne i rispettivi disegni “alati”.


4. Scelta del Light Design e Mapping L’idea è quella di creare un ambiente “senza dimensione”, un cielo/mare collegato e unico. Tramite un sistema di proiettori e luci si ipotizza di creare un cielo di nuvole in movimento dove le navi, anche se fisse, appaiono muoversi e riflettere le proprie ombre ingigantite, anche all’esterno della struttura. E’ipotizzabile anche creare un pavimento mappato con immagini o video relative al mare, al fine di creare un continuità dell’ambiente, una totale immersione. A corrollario dell’esposizione a 360° ci sarà anche lo studio di suoni dimensionali .

Aether & Hemera is a multi-disciplinary art and design practice, producing work that lies at the intersections of art, architecture and interactive design. Founded in 2008 by lighting artist Gloria Ronchi and architect Claudio Benghi, the studio often utilises the medium of light combined with digital media to create engaging spaces that connect people with their environment. Avendo già realizzato progetti a tema nautico ho pensato fossero una proposta idonea e in parte già “preparata”

6. Studio e realizzazione materiali di supporto Nel caso ci sia la volontà ed il budget, realizzare un volumetto/brochure che spieghi chi è Luigi Prina, con la sua breve storia, i suoi pensieri, i modelli e i temi a loro dedicati eccetera… a supporto del materiale che verrà prodotto da Panerai per l’evento. Questi costi possono essere recuperati per realizzare il volume e recuperare le spese donando una parte alla fondazione… per l’invito - realizzazione dell’invito su cartoncino/ carta di pregio con possibilità di: - stampa a secco (in rilievo) sul fronte dei logo panerai e di una nave di Prina - fustellato a libro (popup) o “interattivo” -eventuale fustella “a montaggio” (viene fustellato un modello di nave sul biglietto d’invito che poi può essere “montato” staccando le parti dallo stesso…) - o ancora stampare su pagine di letteratura ( quelle da qui vengono presi i brani/ ispirazioni ) un disegno a mano di una Nave Volante .


7. Trasporto ed istallazione

E’previsto il trasporto e l’installazione dei modelli dallo studio dell’architetto Prina al luogo dell’evento. Vista l’estrema delicatezza degli stessi, si dovrà prevedere un imballaggio adeguato al fine di tutelare ogni modello trasportato. Luigi Prina ha già sperimentato la cosa e suggerisce un furgone di modeste dimensioni e rete anti grandine che si caratterizza per un effetto “grippante”. Le Navi verranno esposte semplicemente legate da fili trasparenti al cielo della struttura, a diverse altezze ( alcune molto basse, in modo tale da poterle vedere da vicino e “immergersi letteralmente con la testa”, altre più in alto, per creare quell’effetto che solo quando si è sott’acqua può accadere, ossia vedere dal basso la chiglia della barca.) Sospesi e comunque “in movimento” grazie alla loro estrema leggerezza: anche solo con lo spostamento d’aria generato dalle persone che camminano al di sotto o attraverso, questi si muovono grazie alla superficie alare.

Mission: Satisfy, encourage and maintain interest of a wide range of stakeholders, offering cultural entertainment and sporting events as an occasion for shows/exhibits, with a young, colorful and dynamic appeal together with an interactive and multimedia formula, easily accessible and quick to implement. Create an active “frame” for original objects/actors. A case history of modernity to be shared at the moment (media coverage) and available on a multi-channel repository. The research is focused on the socio-cultural trends, local as well as international, the artistic-technological innovations and the expressiveness, both physical-material (artists’ collective = crew’s harmony) and intellectual (specificity of the artistic subject – nautical lifestyle). Challenge: Human VS Nature – Human VS physical limits – Artistic context Technique and technology: functional design of the boats – contemporary and performative artistic trend Aesthetics: beauty of the sails, of the natural context - artistic skills “beautifully” performed Know-how: art of sailing – art of creative interpretation

Le proposte si ipotizzano quindi congruenti al taglio sportivo dell’evento per: Tematica Tecnica realizzativa: street art/ fine art/ mixed media art/ cinema / fotografia/ performance/ sound Modalità espositiva: coinvolgente, aggregativa, multidimensionale, on air e live


Street Art Contest - “Coco-Bombed” Engage the Wynwood collective in order to create a small community of “activist” writers, make them aware of a specific topic concerning regattas, marine world, crews… Provide them with easy-to-find or recovered materials (old sails, fragments of keels, wood…). New sails can be purchased, according to the available budget. The project implies installing large, clean sails fixing them with tie-rods.on the micro-urban architecture elements of Cocowalk (p.e. trees, benches, signs, garbage cans…) in order to create a sort of “dock on dryland” with artistic sails. Street crews as sea crews. Writers are free to choose which technique and style to use.

About

The Wynwood Walls became a major art statement to graffiti and street art, a genre that he believes is under appreciated and not respected historically. Tony Goldman, the “inventor”, wanted to give the movement more attention and more respect: "By presenting it in a way that has not been done before, I was able to expose the public to something they had only seen peripherally." Murals by renowned street artists have covered the walls of the Wynwood Walls complex since 2009, and to create more canvases and bring more artists to the project, Tony opened the Wynwood Doors in 2010 with 176 feet of roll-up storefront gates. The painted exteriors and interiors of the doors reveal a portrait gallery. German duo Cenci Goepel and Jens Warnecke create stark imagery that brings a ghostly quality to the beauty of nature, turning striking natural settings into backdrops for glowing organic forms made of moving light. Their subtle use of light painting in deserts, canyons, forests and snow-covered fjords makes the illuminated forms seem to blend in with their backgrounds in a way that brings to mind alien landscapes on some far away planet.


Sola is a UK photographer whose experiments with the flow, form and movement of light are captured in two series, “Embro” and “Solid Trace”. Embro, defined by the artist as “Echoes of the organic world translated into a synthetic language”, seems to explore how light captured in a photograph can seem just as organic as anything else around us. “Solid Trace”, which the artist calls “An exploration of movement and form in contrastingly stark environments” portrays vibrant swirls of colored light on urban backdrops.


Toby Keller of Burn Blue Photography in Design has created a series of light painting images in which the free-flowing forms of light seem to have no rhyme or reason – and they don’t have to. Keller takes what would already be beautiful nature photography and makes it seem to crackle with kinetic energy as ribbons of glowing light swirl around groups of rocks by the sea.


Michael Bosanko is taken on light painting in a series called “We Come in Peace”, in which figures made of light seem to interact with their surroundings in a way that’s comical, fun and highly engaging. The series features giant spiders crawling down a highway, “alien” rocks gathering around a central “spaceship”, a light figure skateboarding on a ramp and another hitchhiking on the side of a road

Poetic Mixed Art&Craft / Grethe Wittrock - The SAIL Project Grethe Wittrock used a residence at the Danish Art workshops in Copenhagen to create large-scale works with an expression that is simultaneously rough and poetic. The material is discarded weatherbeaten sails use as a canvas that she treats with print, perforations and dye. The maritime signal colours of neon orange and yellow are the dominating colours in the project, and patterns representing rope bindings, nautical maps and underwater seascapes are transferred by means of printing and perforation. Generally, Grethe Wittrock uses a wide range of approaches and techniques including printing, weaving, macramé, braiding, sewing, indeed, anything that can be used to express the idea and the intensity she is aiming for in the material. Wittrocks dual goal is to shape the material in accordance with her idea while also incorporating the potential and expression of the material itself. Thus, the SAIL project is based on a piece of age-old utilitarian textile that has served in all sorts of wind and weather conditions, and which is a carrier of stories from voyages to destinations near and far. After exploring these large, unwieldy sails Grethe Wittrock reshapes them into modern textile art, thus adding yet another story. The SAIL project is a celebration of maritime Denmark and the countrys proud maritime and craft traditions, which date back more than a thousand years. Samples of Images and Concepts Confusion and bewilderment instantly go hand in hand with the physical contact of the sea and being plunged into a new circumstance. Clarity and definition are no more, shapes take on blurred edges. We find ourselves in that ‘No Man’s Land’ known as ‘Shore Break’ where waves throw themselves, one on top of the other and the horizon is obscured by spray. Ours is not panic, however, but a fleeting sense of confusion. We are not necessarily in a hostile place, but it is undoubtedly new and different. We decide to submit to this new situation, not to fight it, but to find the courage to dig deeper and see beyond our confusion, beyond the waves and the spray, to new possible points of reference, maybe better than the previous ones, maybe not, but certainly different and synonymous with changes that are, at times, necessary.


Where Sea and Sky collide. In essence, ” Intersections” is all about that brief moment of time when the water of the sea blurs with the clouds of a stormy sky and creates a unique and abstract fleeting moment. I suggest an alternative artist, Michael Kahn, but the same implementation ( Sensory 4 ) in order to enhance the “wrapping” effect of giant sailcloths and macro details. Black & White will create an elegant contrast with the colorful location, a mesmerizing and surreal environment . Secondary option: I suggest to print the photos as big as possible, frame free, on waterproof canvas and fix them with tie-rods. Sails + sailcloths = totally immersive experience.


“Regatta Sinfonia” : conceptual multi- performance by DJ Spooky Paul D. Miller (alias DJ Spooky) is a conceptual artist, writer, and musician working in New York. His written work has appeared in The Village Voice, The Source, Artforum, Raygun, Rap Pages, Paper Magazine, and a host of other periodicals. Miller’s first collection of essays, Rhythm Science, was published by MIT Press in April 2004, and was included in several year-end lists of the best books of 2004, including the Guardian (UK) and Publishers Weekly. In 2005, Sound Unbound, an anthology of writings on sound art and multi-media by contemporary cultural theorists will follow Rhythm Science.

Vi prego per ora di considerare che mi son permessa di coinvolgerlo secondo una bozza di brief che a mio parere potrebbe vederlo realizzare sui pannelli già a disposizione o sulle vele una sorta di performance live in cui imitando la dinamicità delle onde o del vento potrebbe scrivere un “diario di bordo” della regata in oggetto o perchè no i nomi dei team o le caratteristiche delle barche. Un romanzo contemporaneo. Aspettiamo quindi una sua idea alternativa o congruente. Ho concentrato già l’attenzione su di lui perchè mescolando diversi piani di contenuto ( calligrafia e street art ) la performance risulta moderna e coinvolgente. Di appeal unanime.

Luca Barcellona is born in 1978. He has his own studio in Milan, where he works as a freelance graphic designer and calligrapher. Letters are the main ingredient of his creations. He teaches calligraphy with the Associazione Calligrafica Italiana and holds workshops and lectures in several cities, as the last one in California and Australia. The means of his work is to make the manual skill of an ancient art as writing and the languages and instruments of the digital era coexist. In 2003 he founded with Rae Martini and Marco Klefisch the collective Rebel Ink, with which he gives life to a live exhibition of calligraphy, writing and illustration. In 2009 he has worked for the National Museum of Zurich, with calligraphist Klaus Peter Schaffel, to realize the faithful reproduction of a big globe dated back to the 1569, using calligraphy with original materials (quill and natural inks). Among the brands that requested his lettering we can number Carhartt, Nike, Mondadori, Zoo York, Dolce & Gabbana, Sony BMG, Seat, Volvo, Universal, Eni, Mont Blanc, Wall Street Institute. Among his latest collective exhibitions: "Stuck on City" in Prague, "Don't Forget to write" at Carhartt gallery (Germany). As well as taking part to several independent projects his works appeared in many publications. In 2010 he produced his own personal clothing brand "Luca Barcellona Gold Series". He recently published his first monographic book “Take Your Pleasure Seriously” by Lazy Dog press, the publishing house wich is a member himself. Micro Film Festival

The idea comes from the remarkably good feedback obtained by the movie “All is Lost” (J.C. Chandor, 2013) and aims to create a film festival supported by an exhibition of “behind the scene” photos taken from the most famous movies dedicated to the seafaring world, both solo adventures and crew experiences. The festival can have different formulas, p.e.: One film per day, during a before-dinner vernissage, when the crews come ashore, on one or more huge screens placed in different locations, strategic or functional for Cocowalk, and synchronized. - The film is looped all day long, in order to stimulate and immerge the visitors in an on-going story. They will imagine the beginning and will eventually see confirmed their guesswork. It will be a sort of challenge concerning the genre culture. The photos, exposed all day long, will both inform on the week schedule, create anticipation and increase the turnout to Cocowalk. Moreover, they will unveil the hidden charm of spectacular moments occurring during the realization of the “on board” movies. Donald Crowhurst, the fascinating central figure of Deep Water, heard a siren song of his own. In 1968, he took part in the first race of yachtsmen to circumnavigate the globe — a contest inspired, in no small part, by the space program. A fusty British electronics-shop owner, Crowhurst had no business competing to be the Charles Lindbergh of the seas. When he set sail, he was wearing a sweater-vest and a tie, and he was soon bailing water by hand out of his rickety winged trimaran. He should have turned back, but he faced debts and disgrace, and so he did the opposite. He sailed on, vanishing into his mind to cling to the storybook journey he'd dreamed of. He left films, audiotapes, and a log, and Deep Water turns these haunting records into the tale of two adventures: the one Crowhurst took, and the one he conjured so the whole world could join it.


An "Outward Bound"-type school sailing trip, based on a true story, is recounted in the 1996 drama White Squall, starring Jeff Bridges as a tough, disciplinarian teacher who is in charge of an ill-fated journey from the Bahamas to the Galapagos and back through the Caribbean. The eight-month excursion was intended to teach the class of fourteen boys sailing skills as well as discipline while aboard the schooner, the Albatross. Also onboard were four instructors and a cook. En route from Mexico to the Bahamas on May 2, 1961, the Albatross was apparently overtaken by a white squall, an oceanic phenomenon characterized by the absence of the normal dark clouds or advance warning. White Squall was directed by Ridley Scott, director of such classics as Alien, Thelma & Louise, Blade Runner, Black Hawk Down and Hannibal.


Facing your inner demons, either real or imagined, is never a pleasant experience, but to have that occur while alone and adrift at sea is exactly what Georgia Perry is up against in the 2003 Australian film, Visitors. Attempting to sail solo around the world, Perry undergoes the ultimate in loneliness, and whether her imagination is running rampant or her "visitors" are real is the challenge to the viewer. Radha Mitchell is spellbinding as Perry, the incredibly iron-willed woman on a quest. Watching her confront her past and present is mesmerizing, disturbing and will have the audience buzzing after the 90 minutes is finished. The late Australian director Richard Franklin directed Visitors, which subsequently has drawn comparisons with another classic study in isolation, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.


Deep into a solo voyage in the Indian Ocean, an unnamed man (Redford) wakes to find his 39-foot yacht taking on water after a collision with a shipping container left floating on the high seas. With his navigation equipment and radio disabled, the man sails unknowingly into the path of a violent storm. Despite his success in patching the breached hull, his mariner's intuition and a strength that belies his age, the man barely survives the tempest. Using only a sextant and nautical maps to chart his progress, he is forced to rely on ocean currents to carry him into a shipping lane in hopes of hailing a passing vessel. But with the sun unrelenting, sharks circling and his meager supplies dwindling, the ever-resourceful sailor soon finds himself staring his mortality in the face.


A 16-year old's quest to sail a 24-foot boat around the world is the story behind The Dove, a 1974 film based on the true story of Robin Lee Graham and was directed by Charles Jarrott and produced by screen legend Gregory Peck. Graham spends five years pursuing his quest, and matures from a hesitant adolescent to a young man along the way. He meets a young woman in Australia and falls in love. The young woman begins trailing Graham on his journey, meeting him in his ports of call. Although the “traditional” area of interest, the result will convey a sense of modernity and originality thanks to the combination of hybrid techniques, styles and media. Once determined the art form, it will be carried out an in-depth research to realize an exhibit, hosted by Cocowalk. Each stand will show just one work for each artist. JIM INZERO I am an encaustic artist from Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. Encaustic is an ancient artistry which involves the use of beeswax, resin, and pigmentation. The beeswax is heated up to a liquid stage, mixed with pigmentation, then applied to a wood surface. A propane torch is then used to fuse all the wax layers together. Originally from the Long Island Sound in Connecticut, I have always had a passion for the water and all it encompasses.
