Imatech unveils new D6 IMOIII emission reduction system Imanox

Imanox - the brand new D6 IMO Tier III Emission Reduction System combines several features including a sophisticated and innovative air compression solution, a state-of-the-art exhaust after treatment system and a control system to reduce emissions. With the SCR exhaust after treatment system installed, NOx level reductions have been reported up to 85 % compared to current Tier II standards.

Based on parent engine Volvo Penta D6 with high output effects ranging from 340-480 hp, Imatech can now as exclusive supplier offer the IMO Tier III emission reduction system called Imanox starting June 2023.

”We are thrilled to now be able to offer additional products to complement Volvo Penta’s product range that meet the toughest demands of our customers” says Henrik Gustavsson, CEO of Imatech in Norway, and Sweden. ”The first applications was commissioned earlier this year with excellent results.”

The entire project to develop and test the hardware and software for the Imanox emission reduction solution has been a close collaboration between Sweden based engine lab STT Emtec and Imatech. The first unit was delivered in late April in Ulsteinvik, Norway, as a collaboration between Imatech, Marine Commercial dealer J. Weiberg Gulliksen and customer Mare Safety, whom in turn will deliver the vessel to their end customer where it will serve as crew transfer vessel to wind farms in the toughest weather conditions in the North Sea.

“We always want to stay on top of new legislation and future demands of customers, which is why we were eager to join the Imanox project and to be the first to put a vessel equipped with the system in water”, Are Garshol, CEO at Mare Safety says. “We see a high demand from our customers for this particular engine package that meet the IMOIII requirements, and since the launch was a success, we naturally expect demand to go up once the news are out.”

Since first launch, four more vessels are in preparation for installation of the Imanox system in Norway. From now, Imanox is also available for order in Sweden and the system will be offered through the marine commercial dealer network in both countries.
