The very first action of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games got going in Markham Tuesday as women’s water polo took to the pool at the Atos Markham Pan Am Centre. A group of senior citizens was shocked last week when they learned they were being evicted and had 18 months to leave their homes. Last Monday, residents of Heritage Village, which is part of the Unionville Home Society,
were invited to a meeting for a Canada Day tea and cake. But they say they were caught off guard when Debra Cooper Burger, CEO of UHS, told them Heritage Village had been sold and they had to move. “It’s just devastating,” said Jeannine Harpell
