CII Award in Financial Administration Qualification Success Story - PW9.ORG

The CII Award in Financial Administration is an introductory qualification for individuals working in, or aspiring to work in, the financial services sector. It is a useful starting point for those who have just entered the industry and may not have any other qualifications.

The CII describes it as a ‘foundation’ qualification. It covers topics such as financial regulation, the UK financial services system, protection and health insurance products and the savings and investment market.

Success Story We recently put one of our mentors, Belinda, through this qualification. Belinda had been with us for just over a year when she decided to start this course. She is our first mentor to complete it and was thrilled with how easy it was! Her feedback on her experience of training with us: I really enjoyed doing the CII Award qualification and would recommend it to other mentors too. I had no previous knowledge of insurance or savings products so this was a great opportunity to build my knowledge base. The course material was very well written and easy to understand, plus I could complete it at my own pace so I could fit it in around my busy schedule.

It has helped me appreciate the importance of having qualified people working within our company and am proud to be able to show that I am now At the start of my studies I was working as a Finance Assistant at a local housing association. I was doing most of the day to day tasks required of an Accounts Assistant, however I was not gaining any qualifications. After completing my A Levels, I decided it would be in my best interest to undertake an apprenticeship and study for finance qualifications whilst also getting paid.

This is why I decided to take on the CII’s Award in Financial Administration Qualification. At first, I was very nervous about undertaking the qualification as I thought it would be difficult to balance work and studying. However, the team at e-Careers were very supportive and helped me with any questions or queries that I had and provided me with the materials that I needed to get started.

The qualification itself is broken down into 3 separate areas: 1. Financial products – this covered all types of financial products such as mortgages, protection, investments and pensions.

2. Customer Service – this was all about how you interact with customers on a daily basis and how to handle different situations such as complaints appropriately.

3. Financial Administration – this section was all about what goes on behind the scenes in an office environment such as: processing applications and dealing with data protection laws.
