Hace 10 años la situación de la prensa era diametralmente distinta a la actual, los medios online no estaban tan desarrollados y nada parecía indicar que el mundo editorial iba a cambiar tanto. Allá por 2004 nos juntábamos (sin haber alcanzado la treintena) para iniciar un proyecto editorial basado en la cultura y el ocio pero visto siempre desde una perspectiva independiente, liberado de cualquier corsé o prejuicio, sin duda una andadura complicada en una ciudad pequeña del Norte de España... Hace 10 años nacía +coruña, el germen de lo que hoy tienes entre tus manos y que es el trabajo de aquellos que creyeron en que algo nuevo y diferente se podía construir lejos de la influencia de los medios tradicionales. Ha pasado toda una década y efectivamente la prensa, los medios escritos, han sufrido un deterioro que

Son tiempos muy difíciles y como no podía ser de otra manera, nosotros los sufrimos también, hemos tenido que ajustarnos a la situación existente e incluso perder a algunos de aquellos valientes que empezaron con nosotros, pero cada dos meses (y hasta que el cuerpo aguante) volvemos a estar en la calle, apostando por lo mismo que el primer día, calidad estética y cultura independiente. Hemos sido y somos un proyecto sin ayudas externas, sin subvenciones, viviendo de nuestra credibilidad para

— When I left Monte Alto and settled in Malasaña, clones of The Strokes, The Libertines and Franz Ferdinand still were in fashion.

¿TANTO HEMOS CAMBIADO? WE HAVE CHANGED SO MUCH?

— Cuando salí de Monte Alto y me instalé en Malasaña, los clones de The Strokes, The Libertines y Franz Ferdinand todavía campaban a sus anchas.

Hace un mes entrevisté a Víctor Lenore en una terraza de Lavapiés. El anuncio de su libro, Indies, hipsters y gafapastas: crónica de una dominación cultural (Capitán Swing, 2014) provocó un fuego cruzado de descalificaciones en las redes sociales que insinuaba la verdadera raíz del problema: la animadversión de los lectores ante la posibilidad de verse reflejados en alguna de sus páginas. Como suele ocurrir en estos casos, cometemos el error de rasgarnos las vestiduras sin haber leído ni un solo párrafo y nos atrincheramos en los mismos prejuicios que creímos haber superado. En mi caso, supuso reencontrarme conmigo mismo hace diez años, bajando del Alsa que recorre los seiscientos kilómetros que separan A Coruña de Madrid, con un ejemplar de la Rockdelux debajo del brazo. Es curioso lo rápido que nos hemos acostumbrado a que el aprecio que sentimos por artistas como Animal Collective, Kanye West, Björk, Radiohead o Arcade Fire dependa cada día más de las fluctuaciones del mercado. Cuando salí de Monte Alto y me instalé en Malasaña, los clones de The Strokes, The Libertines y Franz Ferdinand todavía campaban a sus anchas. Eso fue antes de que Triángulo de Amor Bizarro cruzaran el Puente Pasaje y los debuts de M.I.A. y Burial sonasen por la radio. Y casi una década antes de que Swans colgasen por primera vez en nuestro país el cartel de “no hay localidades”. Por aquel entonces nos creíamos el perejil de todas las salsas por escuchar a Mogwai y Devendra Banhart o por bailarles el agua a 2 Many DJs y Dizzie Rascal. También fuimos los primeros en desacreditar a la prensa especializada, pero manejábamos términos como “new rave”, “chillwave” o “hipnagogic pop” sin amedrentarnos. Pero a medida que las tendencias se iban agotando, nos sumábamos a nuevas hinchadas. Así fue como empezaron a corearse los goles de War on Drugs desde la bancada de Wilco y los seguidores de The Chemical Brothers y Prodigy se enfundaron la camiseta de Justice o Die Antwoord. Tendemos a olvidar que hubo un tiempo

en que reconocer que te gustaban Los Planetas te convertía en blanco de las burlas de quien se sentaba en el pupitre de al lado. En nuestro país se cantaba en inglés del malo y si no estaba bien visto rimar en castellano, no digamos ya en cualquier otra lengua oficial del Estado. Así que negar las connotaciones políticas del fenómeno y obviar el elitismo cultural de la época sería simplificarlo demasiado. Porque antes de que las televisiones privadas invitasen a Los Chunguitos a sus programas de variedades, se les estigmatizaba como lumpen de extrarradio. Si aceptamos que las canciones de Los Chichos comparten ADN con las de La Mala Rodríguez, ¿por qué no asumir, de una vez por todas, que a Javiera Mena le entusiasman Camela? ¿Y si en lugar de frivolizar al respecto, interpretamos cada nuevo plagio de Shakira a un músico nigeriano o dominicano como lo que es: un atraco a mano armada? ¿Acaso no resulta sintomático que la misma publicación que acaba de elegir el It Takes Million to Hold Us Back de Public Enemy como el mejor disco de los últimos 30 años, defenestre públicamente a Nacho Vegas por su posicionamiento político en Resituación y le tache de bolivariano? Si en 1988 Chuck D rapeaba que ninguno de sus héroes salía en lo sellos, a día de hoy tampoco le tiembla el pulso al firmar contratos de exclusividad con festivales y marcas comerciales; los Pixies se han convertido en el nuevo rostro de la campaña de Apple y Sonic Youth publicaron su último recopilatorio con Starbucks. Al salir a dar un paseo por Madrid verás las marquesinas del Teatro Häagen-Dazs (antiguo Teatro Calderón), el Cofidis (Teatro Alcázar) y el Barclays Card Center (Palacio de los Deportes), donde hace un par de meses Morrisey evitó pronunciarse sobre el sacrificio del perro Excalibur, pero interpretó un par de temas del Meat is Murder. La música es la misma, pero la letra (y el contexto) han cambiado. En ese sentido, estoy seguro de que la persona que sostiene esta revista entre las manos tampoco es la misma que lo hizo por primera vez hace diez años.

A month ago I interviewed Victor Lenore on a terrace of Lavapies. The announcement of his book, Indies, hipsters y gafapastas: crónica de una dominación cultural (Captain Swing, 2014) resulted in a crossfire of insults on social networks that hinted at the real root of the problem: the enmity of readers to the possibility of being reflected in some of its pages. As usual in these cases, we make the mistake of rending our garments without reading a single paragraph and we entrench ourselves in the same prejudices that we thought we had overcome. MANOS DE TOPO MANOS DE TOPO

Para celebrar el décimo aniversario de M\A\S\G\A\L\I\C\I\A me he propuesto escribir en éste y los siguientes números de la revista varios artículos que hagan referencia a estos últimos diez años de música. Comenzaré con uno de mis grupos preferidos, “Manos de Topo”. En 2004 el grupo todavía estaba creándose igual que esta casa. Unos primeros años de myspace, pequeños conciertos y el boca oreja dieron paso a su primer álbum “Ortopedias Bonitas” (2007) que fue muy elogiado por la crítica y les dio a conocer. En 2009 llegaría su segundo álbum “El primero era mejor” toda una declaración de intenciones que seguía la misma línea de letras tristes con ese toque surrealista de la voz tan

particular de su cantante Miguel Angel Blanca. Dos años después publicarían un vinilo a medias con Tarántula titulado “Momento único” que dio paso a finales de 2011 a su tercer disco “Escapar con el anticiclón (y volver con la boca roja)” en el que hubo ciertos cambios empujados por la producción a cargo de The New Raemon que demostraron que había algo más que letras tristes y falsetes. Un paso adelante. Ahora se han autoeditado su cuarto álbum recién publicado “Caminitos del deseo” también producido por Ramón Rodríguez que los llevará de gira en este diciembre y todo el año 2015. En diciembre visitarán el 11 Granada, 12 Málaga, 19 A Coruña (sala Mardi Gras), 20 Vigo (Fábrica de Chocolate). En enero estarán el 16 Barcelona, 23 Lleida y 24 Zaragoza.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of M\A\S\G\A\L\I\C\I\A I plan to write in this and subsequent issues of the magazine several articles that refer to the last ten years of music. I'll start with one of my favourite bands, "Manos de Topo". In 2004 the band was still in process of creation, just like this magazine. Some first years of myspace, small concerts and the word of mouth gave way to their first album "Ortopedias Bonitas" (2007) which was highly praised by critics and presented them to the audience. In 2009 came their second album "El primero era mejor", a true declaration of intent following the same line of sad lyrics with that surreal touch of the distinctive voice of their singer Miguel Angel Blanca. Two years later they published a vinyl in collaboration with Tarantula entitled "Momento único" that in late 2011 let to their third album "Escapar con el anticiclón (y volver con la boca roja)" in which there were certain changes pushed by the production by the New Raemon which showed that there were more than sad lyrics and falsetto. One step forward. Now they have self-edited their fourth album just released "Caminitos del Deseo" also produced by Ramón Rodríguez who will take them on tour this December and throughout 2015. Herbert Khaury was a misunderstood genius. Dubbed as "The human canary", he suffered the mockery of his contemporaries with a so naive stoicism that he deserves a tribute at the height of his legend. Imagine what a filmmaker such as Tim Burton could extract from a biography like his: as Bowie, he shared the stage with Bing Crosby and achieved a packed out the Royal Albert Hall; he rubbed shoulders with Bob Dylan and worked with The Beatles on an album for their fan club. With such credentials, it is not surprising that his debut album was entitled God Bless Tiny Tim (Warner, 1968). It could be produced by Richard Perry, habitual accomplice of Carly Simon, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, and yes, Harry Nilsson.

Morrissey’s tour has been one of the most awaited of 2014, a condition reinforced by his increasing health problems, which forced him to cancel several performances. However, the reason for his visit to Spain is his fledgling solo career, with more folk and whose advance was the gorgeous single "I Do not Care At All".

Cuando el primer número de esta revista empezó a leerse por tiendas, trenes, oficinas y cafeterías, en ellas todavía se podía fumar y no existía Twitter para decirle al dueño del Bar Suiza: @barsuiza menos #maloshumos. En 2004 The Facebook era un proyecto de universidad en una habitacion de Harvard y la Real Academia de la Lengua Española peleaba para que a los blogs se les llamase bitácoras. Michael Jackson (atención spoilers) aun estaba vivo y Rodrigo Rato era nombrado Director Gerente del Fondo Monetario Internacional. El iPhone era una idea loca en la mente de un hombre visionario. Internet se miraba en el trabajo cuando el jefe no miraba. No habia 3G y nadie le robaba el wi-fi a nadie. Los teléfonos Nokia que usábamos no es que fueran tontos, pero no eran tan inteligentes como ahora, capaces de interactuar con esas pequeñas piezas de software –las apps– que han cambiado la manera en la que compramos, jugamos, ligamos y charl/chateamos. Hemos visto crecer a la primera generación de nativos digitales. Hemos visto en acción a los Thomas Edison y Henry Ford de nuestra época, personajes con la imaginación y el liderazgo necesario para inventar industrias y revolucionar sectores: Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Brin y Page. Se acabaron las corporaciones sin cara de los 90. El líder carismático y fascinante vuelve a ser noticia. Vestido, eso sí, con una sudadera de capucha. La revolución que hemos vivido estos diez años solo es comparable a la invención de la imprenta de tipos móviles de Gutenberg. Pero mientras la imprenta tardó 60 años en conquistar Europa (y casi 400 en llegar a Hawaii), Internet ha pasado de 1,000 a 3,000 millones de usuarios en diez años. El 12 de febrero de 2004 (dos días antes de San Valentín!), Mattel anunció la ruptura sentimental de Barbie y Ken después de 43 años de relaciones. Lo más probable es que encontraran online a sus nuevas parejas. Un tercio de

los matrimonios en los Estados Unidos empiezan ya en Internet (y las parejas son más felices y menos dadas a separarse). Ha sido la decada de badoo, de tindr, del sexting y de las fotos guarras. En el 2004 jugabamos a los SIMS y vivíamos otras vidas en Second life. Ahora la simulación social la hacemos en Instagram. Han sido los años del selfie. De las filtradas fotos de cupcakes sobre mesas de brunch.

En Mayo de 2004, 66 millones de personas vieron Estados Unidos el último episodio de Friends. Aceptando el hecho de que en la comedia se había tocado techo, los canales de televisión se pasaron al drama. Y ha sido una época gloriosa para la historia de la tele. El estreno de LOST en Septiembre de 2004 inauguró un tiempo de series increíbles a las que por primera vez teníamos acceso directo via torrent. Empezaron las descargas de temporadas completas, el visionado de series en serie, el enganche total. Han sido los años de Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Band Of Brothers, Juego de Tronos, Boardwalk Empire. De Donald Draper. De Walter White. Personajes inolvidables y fascinantes, explorados con la minuciosidad que permite el formato seriado. Dejamos de ver lo que ponían en la tele y tomamos el control. Y aprendimos a hablar inglés oyendo hablar por telefono a Jesse Pinkman. El cine ha dejado de tratar temas serios (ahora en las series) y ha dejado de hacer peliculas para adultos. Anda enredado en estúpidas películas de Superheroes y ocupado en alargar innecesariamente franquicias completamente agotadas. Han sido diez años de Hobbits y Señores de los Anillos. Sus batallas campales, sus actores con prótesis y sus personajes con nombres de pila más bien Chiquito que Tolkien (Aragorn, Grimbold, Fredegar, etc). En 2004 Alejandro Sanz le cedió a David Bisbal el testigo al frente de la música popular española. Y hemos tenido diez años de bulería y

autarquía: pop de ascendencia latina y toque flamenquito para consumo interno. Una fórmula cansina, carca y cañí que tiene a España aislada del mainstream mundial y hace in so por ta ble la radio comercial. Ha sido la década del featuring, unos artistas ayudando a otros. El poder de Pharrell Williams sobre la industria musical es casi hasta peligroso. YouTube se ha convertido en la forma más habitual de consumir música (casi 20 millones de personas vieron el video de ‘Anaconda’ de Nicky Minaj en su primer dia). Spotify mató a los snobs de ‘tengo 3,000 discos en mi colección’. Hace diez años de ‘Funeral’ de Arcade Fire y ‘The College Dropout’ de Kanye West. Esta ha sido la década de ambos y de su música genuinamente contemporánea, música que puede mirar a los ojos a la historia de la música. Mientras una generación de chicas autogestionadas (Grimes, Lorde, Poliça, FKA Twigs) hace fantástica música moderna, una pandilla de cantantes grimosos y grasientos (Pitbull, Jason Derulo, Robin Thicke) nos atormenta con sus misoginias y lascivias varias. Algunas cosas no cambian. Os escandalizábais con t.A.T.u. y os escandalizáis con Miley Cyrus. Fito sigue soltando clichés con voz doblada. Y Malú lleva nueve discos. Malú. Lleva. Nueve. Discos. La EDM, predecible y machacona, le ha quitado todo el peligro a la electrónica. David Guetta y Calvin Harris llevan 5 años haciendo esencialmente la MISMA canción una y otra vez. Se han acabado los discos de Platino. Este año sólo Taylor Swift ha vendido más de 1 millón de copias en Estados Unidos (lo que ‘Thriller’ lo vendía en UNA SEMANA). Hay público para casi todo y los géneros co-existen y colisionan. Todo el mundo sabe de música y Tame Impala suena para cerrar el Carrusel Deportivo de la SER. No hagais caso a los nostálgicos. Vivís en la mejor época musical posible. En la moda han sido años de uniformidad y austeridad, el clásico regreso a los clásicos que suele ocurrir en tiempos de crisis. El vaquero ha aguantando el tipo y las All Star siguen teniendo máxima vigencia. North Face ha sido el uniforme gris oscuro de una época claroscura. Ha sido la década de Primark y de la fast fashion. Ropa de poner y tirar vendida a precios ridículos y fabricada en condiciones infrahumanas. A la combinación de ropa barata y ropa de lujo se la llamó ‘ir de Primani’ (Primark+Armani). Las tendencias conviven en una sopa de estilismos imposible de catalogar, un caos postmoderno y clochardista de abrigos vintage,

jerseys de Tato, playeros Nike de correr, maxifaldas cortinón y camisetas de algodón translúcido. Karl Lagerfeld sigue sin cambiarse de ropa. Los hombres re-descubrieron el poder del traje como uniforme de la masculinidad y del pañuelo en el bolsillo como símbolo de la elegancia. Y todo el mundo se ha dejado barba. En el diseño y la arquitectura han sido años de una nueva sencillez. IKEA, Apple y otros abanderados de la simplicidad han expandido y difundido el lenguaje del modernismo. En épocas de confusión, prescindir de lo superficial y lo superfluo. Ha habido una búsqueda general de autenticidad. Productos orgánicos. Materiales naturales. Se ha abierto el debate del retoque fotográfico y la campaña de Dove por la Belleza Real que empezó hace diez años sigue apostando por la honestidad a la hora de representar el cuerpo en los medios. Han sido años de pérdida de la ilusión. Y de la inocencia. Y ya nada sera igual nunca. Nos hemos hecho cínicos y desconfiados. De protestar por los engaños del 11-M en 2004 hemos pasado a indignarnos por los escándalos de 2014. La ‘cuestión nacional’ sigue sin solucionarse. Era el plan Ibarretxe en 2004 y es el referéndum catalán en 2014. Escocia quiere irse del Reino Unido, Cataluña de España, y el Estado Nación se revela obsoleto para gestionar la realidad. Hemos revisitado la transición, desenterrado las fosas comunes y descubierto la chapuza de constitución que tenemos. Éramos bipartidistas pero nos hemos fragmentado. Nuevas fuerzas políticas sueñan con hacer alcanzable lo impensable, unas elecciones municipales y generales donde el PSOE o el PP no sean la fuerza más votada. El siglo XXI empezó el 11 de septiembre del 2001, y vivimos en el mundo que nos han dejado las guerras ilegales e inmorales con las que respondimos al ataque del fundamentalismo. Los polvos de la Guerra de Irak trajeron los lodos del Estado Islámico. En 2004 deplorábamos las torturas y los abusos a los prisioneros de Abu Ghraib y en 2014 nos estremecemos con los secuestros y las decapitaciones de los yihadistas del Estado Islámico. No hubo Alianza de Civilizaciones. Europa ha perdido el optimismo. Cinco años de crisis se han cargado el sueño europeo. La europa de los 25 creada en 2004 ha acabado por ser un gran mercado común al servicio del capital trasnacional, gestionada por tecnócratas de Goldman Sachs, el mismo banco que

ayudó al sur de europa a ocultar sus deudas soberanas. En diez años Grecia ha pasado de organizar los Juegos Olímpicos del 2004 a la bancarrota, el austericidio y la esclavitud financiera. Alemania ha conseguido conquistar Europa a base de deuda. Con troikas en vez de tanques. Hay historias positivas. El Carnet por puntos, la educación y los alcoholímetros han llevado las muertes por accidentes de tráfico a un mínimo histórico tras diez años de descensos. Hemos vivido el cese definitivo del terrorismo de ETA. Seguimos mirando a las estrellas. En 2004 encontrábamos indicios de agua helada en los polos de Marte y en 2014 hemos aterrizado una sonda espacial en un cometa en marcha. Seguimos intentando vivir más y mejor. Hace diez años científicos coreanos anunciaban por primera vez la obtención de células madre a partir de embriones humanos clonados. Son la mejor esperanza para el tratamiento de patologías degenerativas como la diabetes, el Parkinson y el Alzheimer. La fuente de felicidad más constante en medio del drama ha sido el deporte. Que nos quiten lo bailado, lo jugado y lo ganado. Mundiales de fútbol y baloncesto. Eurocopas y Eurobaskets. El Deportivo de La Coruña llegando a las semifinales de la Champions League. Y la oportunidad de ver en directo al mejor deportista español de todos los tiempos: Rafael Nadal. El Príncipe de Asturias que se casó con

una de Asturias en el 2004 es ahora el Rey de España, y le ha devuelto a la corona el saber estar, después de años de caída libre por culpa de yernos ambiciosos, infantas en la inopia y cacerías de elefantes. Veremos si Letizia puede darle la vuelta a la institución como le dio la vuelta a su tabique nasal con la septorrinoplastia. Hace diez años, el gobierno del 2004 cambió el código civil para permitir casarse y adoptar a parejas del mismo sexo. La iglesia católica y los foros de la familia aún no se han repuesto del shock. Hemos tenido gobiernos paritarios (¿alguien se acuerda de las ministras posando en las puertas de la moncloa para Vogue?) y hemos tenido y tenemos poderosas vicepresidentas, pero la igualdad de sexos es una ciencia ficción. Sigue habiendo un abismo salarial entre hombres y mujeres y la violencia de género no parece tener solución. Han sido diez años de tensiones entre el reformismo y la reacción, entre el avance y la regresión. Asustados por un mundo en permanente cambio, perplejos y confundidos, muchos han preferido refugiarse en valores tradicionales y fundamentalismos varios. Desde el Tea Party americano a los yihadistas suníes. Mientras, la otra mitad del mundo quiere tirar para delante. Ese parece haber sido el signo de la década fragmentada. Progreso. Reacción. Progreso. Reaccion. Un pasito palante, dos pasitos patrás. María.

It was the decade when the first digital natives have grown. Children who do not know a world without mobile technology. Babies who want to swip the pages of paper books. We had our own version of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, characters with enough imagination and leadership to invent industries and revolutionize sectors: Steve Jobs at Apple, Jeff Bezos at Amazon, Zuckerberg on Facebook, Brin and Page in Google. In contrat with the faceless corporations of the 80s and 90s, the last ten years have claimed the charismatic, fascinating leader. Dressd, always, with a sweatshirt with hood. The revolution we have lived this last ten years can only be compared with the invention of movable type printing press by Gutenberg. The difference is that the printing press took 60 years to conquer Europe and almost 400 to reach Hawaii. Internet has grown from 1,000 to 3,000 million users in ten years. And there are already 6,000 million mobile phones in the world. The world that has being drawn in these ten years will be the world for the next 100 years. Someday you will be able to tell your grandchildren, "I was there when it all started." My first gmail account ... My first biometric bracelet ... Grandfather stories ...

The year this magazine was born was the year when, two days before Valentine's day, Mattel announced the breakup of Barbie and Ken, after 43 years of relations. Since then, the two have been dating online. A third of marriages in the United States are beginning on the Internet (and couples are happier and less likely to divorce). It was the decade of Badoo, of tindr, sexting and dirty photos. The trail of our lusts is so easy to be followed that it is virtually impossible to cheat and do not get caught. In 2004 we played the SIMS and lived other lives in Second life. Now we do social simulation on Instagram, pretending to live a life that we do not live. It has been ten years of Lord of the Rings and its pitched battles, its actors with prostheses and their names rather by

Nearly 20 million people watched the video of Anaconda by Nicky Minaj the first day. And U2 has to release an album forcing them in the iTunes of the people (and apologizing later). Ten years have passed since Funeral by Arcade Fire and The College Dropout by Kanye West, and this has been the decade of both, genuinely contemporary and modern music that can look into the eyes of the history of music. Years when the tenacity was rewarded (tell it to Love Of Lesbian or The National). It was the decade of featuring, some artists helping others. The power that Pharrell Williams has on the global music industry is almost dangerous. Your were shocked by t.A.T.u. And are still shocked with Miley Cyrus. It is strage to see a woman licking a hammer? While a generation of self-managed girls (Grimes, Lorde, police, FKA Twigs) make fantastic modern music, this decade has been that of the annoyance and greasy singers, the decade of Pitbull, Jason Derulo and Robin Thicke with their misogyny and sen-

suality. The EDM, predictable and repetitive, has removed all danger from electronics. Fito continues releasing clichés with broken voice (as an example, the button 'Entre la espada y la pared” from his album 'Huyendo conmigo de mí'). And Malu has already nine albums. Malu. Has. Nine. Albums. In fashion has been the decade of it girls, photography of outfits in the street, fashion bloggers displacing from the first line of the gateways to the editors of traditinal paper magazines. It was the decade of the triumph of Zara, which in August 2008 became the world's largest clothing distributor. It has been ten years of uniformity and austerity, the return to the classics that usually happens in times of crisis. Jeans have resisted, reinventing themselves in brands like GStar that people in their thirties love, and all star are still in fashion. North Face has been the dark gray uniform of a dark gray era. And it was the decade of Primark and the fast-fashion, clothes with ridiculous prices produced in subhuman conditions. Clothes to put only once. The combination of cheap and luxury clothes is called Primani (Primark+Armani). In general, all tendencies coexist simultaneously in a soup of outfits impossible to catalog, a postmodern chaos of vintage coats, Nike running sneakers, maxiskirts and translucent cotton shirts. Karl Lagerfeld continues without changing his clothes. Men rediscovered the power of the suit as uniform of masculinity and the pocket handkerchief as a symbol of elegance. And everyone has a beard. This magazine has documented design trends, interiors and architecture. They have been years of a new simplicity. IKEA, Apple and other champions of simplicity have expanded and spread the language of modernism. As often happens in times of confusion, people have chosen to return to the familiar and safe. graphic retouching was born and the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty which began ten years ago is the best example of a more honest approach in representing the body in the media. These were the years of the loss of illusion. And of innocence. And nothing will ever be the same. We have become cynical and distrustful. From protesting for the deceptions of 11-M in 2004 we have moved to be outraged by the scandals of 2014. The loser of that tumultuous 2004 election is now the prime minister. The wife of the president who lied to us and took us to war is nowthe not elected Mayor of Madrid. The national question remains unresolved. We talked about the Ibarretxe plan in 2004 and the Catalan Referendum in 2014. Scotland wants to leave the UK, Catalonia wants to leave Spain and the nation state model reveals to be more obsolete than ever, throes of a century which does not want to go leave. We have revisited the transition and discovered the shoddy constitution we have. We were a two-party system but we have fragmented. New political forces think the unthinkable, an election where the PSOE and the PP are not the most voted party. Ten years ago it looked like forever the way of governing Spain will be with a Madrid minority supported by a nationalist party. As things stand, the next parliament will look more like the Belgian than the American. The XXI century began on September 11, 2001, and we live in a post-traumatic world marked by the effects of that day and our reaction to illegal and immoral wars. Those powders of the Iraq War brought the sludge of the Islamic State. In 2004 we were shocked by the torture and abuse of prisoners in Abu Ghraib and in 2014 we shudder with kidnappings and beheadings of Islamic jihadists of the Islamic State. Barack Obama did not live up to expectations. Zapatero still often thinks of his speech on the Alliance of Civilizations. Things will be different if the reaction to 11S would have been that one. We talked of Ukraine in 2004 because of the Orange Revolution, and we talked about it in 2014 because of the annexation of Crimea and the desire of Vladimir Putin to return the world to the Cold War. Europe has lost optimism. The Europe of the 25 created in 2004 has come to be a large common market for the benefit of transnational capital. The dream of a Europe of peoples and individuals has become the nightmare of an EU of markets, managed by technocrats of Goldman Sachs, the same bank that helped to southern Europe to hide their debt. (Mario Draghi, I'm referring to you). The north accuses the south of truancy and the south has become a holiday destination, economies of low productivity and even less competitiveness. In ten years Greece has passed from organizing the Olympic Games 2004 to th bankruptcy, the austerity and financial bondage. Germany has managed to conquer Europe with the debt. Instead of tanks, the Troika. Four years of crisis have finished the European dream.

There are positive stories. The driving license with points, education and breathalyzer have taken deaths in traffic accidents to a historic minimum after ten years of declines. We have lived the definitive cessation of ETA terrorism. But being worried about the economy, corruption and unemployment, the more consistent source of happiness amidst all this was football. Ten years ago Deportivo from La Coruna reached the semifinals of the Champions League. In 2004 Portugal eliminated Spain of its Euro Cup. These were the last disappointments that gave us the Spanish players. Then came years of glory, finished, as usual, in tears. But we enjoyed it, and played, and won. World soccer and basketball Championships. European Championships and Eurobaskets. And in ten years you have had the opportunity to see live Rafa Nadal, the best Spanish athlete of all time. There will not be another like him. Never. Remember what I say. The Prince of Asturias who married an Asturian girl in 2004 is now the King of Spain, and he returned the poise to the crown, after years of free fall because of ambitious sons, dreaming infantas and elephant huntings. We'll see if Letizia can give a turn to the institution as she did it with her nasal septum with septorhinoplasty. It's a matter of time that the anachronism eat the monarchy from within. It has lost its role in a society that no longer understands extravagance and protocols. From the civil point of view, these have been ten years of tensions between reformism and dandruff. It remains our best hope for the treatment of degenerative diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Not without the opposition, one more time, of the Catholic Church. Technological innovations, social changes and emotional earthquakes have left many perplexed and confused people, which has led them to seek refuge in traditional values and various fundamentalisms. That seems to be the sign of the fragmented decade. Progress. Reaction. Barack Obama. The Tea party. Progress. Reaction. That has been the story of the last ten years. A step forward, two steps backward.

— En estos años han pasado muchas cosas por estas páginas, películas inolvidables, bodrios memorables, freakadas, obras maestras, series buenas y malas, personajes y personajillos, artistas y artistazos.

El tiempo transcurre casi sin que nos demos cuenta, como cuando una película o una serie te engancha, hasta que de repente toca repaso y recuento de lo hecho. Si diez años después como dirían Los Rodriguez pienso en cuando me llegó la propuesta de colaborar en +coruña, ahora M\A\S\G\A\L\I\C\I\A, no podría imaginar todo lo que iba a pasar. En aquella época mi relación con el cine se enfriaba. Había descubierto que hacer cine no era tan divertido como verlo o imaginarlo. Resulta que soy de esos que imagina la voz de sus personajes favoritos y luego se decepciona al oírlos en la pantalla. Así que cuando +coruña me dio la oportunidad de escribir sobre aquello que más me gustaba no tuve que pensarlo mucho. Nunca esperé que la aventura durase 10 años y menos aún que alguien me leyese,

o peor aún, me hiciese caso en alguna de mis recomendaciones, pero la verdad lo he gozado como un niño. En estos años han pasado muchas cosas por estas páginas, películas inolvidables, bodrios memorables, freakadas, obras maestras, series buenas y malas, personajes y personajillos, artistas y artistazos. En los comienzos disfruté mucho de las entrevistas, y hablando con gente como Josele Santiago, Carlinhos Brown, Leonor Watling, Andrés Calamaro, Quin Gutierrez, Nacho Vigalondo, etc, etc, aunque la más bonita y memorable será siempre la primera con Anton Reixa y Jorge Cabezas (Mucho ánimo Jorge!!!). Luego me dejaron desbarrar con la revisión freak y pude repasar todos mis pecados inconfesables, desde Ferris Buller a Los Goonies pasando por The Warriors. Me invitaron a fes-

tivales como Ourense, Cineuropa, Gijón, Málaga, San Sebastián y mi adorado Sitges, de donde no solo saqué cine sino algún amigo para siempre. Durante el trayecto he recomendado y escrito sobre todo tipo de pelis y series, Gollum ha perdido su anillo, Cameron ha hundido un barco, creado un mundo nuevo y dejado el cine, se han cargado la Galaxia y Pedro!!!!! ha ganado un Oscar, pero lo mejor ha sido ver como mis amigos de Vaca Films se hacían mayores haciendo cine del bueno (olé por vosotros). Pero si tuviese que hacer una lista de lo mejor de estos diez años, sería la siguiente: Cris, Cane, Héctor, Sonso, Javita, Suki, Quintela, Mayra, David, Elda y mi querido amo del calabozo “Antonio”. Bueno y todos los que me habéis aguantado desde entonces. Gracias.

Time goes almost without us noticing it, such as when you are hooked by a movie or series, until suddenly it is time for making a review of what we have done. If ten years later, as Los Rodriguez said, I think about the moment when I got the proposal to collaborate with +coruña, now M\A\S\G\A\L\I\C\I\A, I could not imagine all that would happen. At that time my relationship with film was cooling. I had discovered that filmmaking was not as fun as seeing or imagining movies. I happen to be one of those who imagine the voice of their favourite characters and then is disappointed to hear them on the screen. So when +coruña gave me the opportunity to write about what I liked the most, I did not have to think it very much. I never expected that the adventure will last 10 years and even less that someone would read me, or even worse, would follow my advises, but really I have enjoyed it extremely. In these years a lot has happened in these pages, unforgettable films, memorable duds, freaks, masterpieces, good and bad series, big characters and small characters, artists and great artists. In the beginning I really enjoyed the interviews and talking to people like Josele

Santiago, Carlinhos Brown, Leonor Watling, Andrés Calamaro, Quin Gutierrez, Nacho Vigalondo, etc, etc, but the most beautiful and memorable one will always be the first with Anton Reixa and Jorge Cabezas (cheer up, Jorge !!!). — Desde Berlin gathers all these, the play, the chronicle, the article with which I want to celebrate the tenth anniversary of our magazine because I felt it was going to be special and it would be worthwhile to talk about it.

SENCILLAMENTE, BERLÍN SIMPLY, BERLIN

— Desde Berlín, la obra, la crónica, el artículo con el que he querido celebrar este décimo aniversario de nuestra revista porque presentí que iba a ser especial y que iba a merecer la pena hablar sobre ella.

Hace poco hablaba por email con un amigo y comentábamos que últimamente nos sentíamos "un poco lejos del teatro clásico, y que nos solían atraer más propuestas un poco novedosas, contemporáneas, que te sorprendiesen y te hiciesen vibrar en el asiento. Estas características las cumple sobradamente Desde Berlín, la obra, la crónica, el artículo con el que he querido celebrar este décimo aniversario de nuestra revista porque presentí que iba a ser especial y que iba a merecer la pena hablar sobre ella. Recuerdo perfectamente, mi primer artículo en esta revista. Trataba sobre el Fringe de Edimburgo (un festival alternativo que nació paralelo al oficial, compuesto por muchas de las obras y compañías que no conseguían ser programadas, y que a día de hoy goza de gran popularidad internacional) Sin ser consciente en ese momento,

este primer artículo ya era una declaración de intenciones sobre las crónicas, proyectos, directores, etc que iban a ir pasando por esta sección. Así, "la elegida" para este número especial, debía ser un disparo acertado y Desde Berlín lo ha sido. Porque hace tiempo que una obra no me convence tanto por duración, ritmo, escenografía, dirección (de Andrés Lima, que esta vez sí vuelve a convencerme) espacio sonoro, actuación (inmensos Pablo Derqui y Nathalie Poza, simplemente no puedes dejar de mirarlos, escucharlos, sentirlos, llorarlos y emocionarte profundamente ante ellos) y, sobre todo, por la propuesta. Una propuesta arriesgada, es cierto. Mucho. Ya que apenas hay trama narrativa. Tan sólo la suma de momentos, sensaciones, imágenes y canciones. Pero magníficamente resuelta. Porque aquí de lo que se trata es de llevar un disco,

un álbum compuesto de 10 canciones a las tablas de un escenario. Y no para ser tocadas, si no para ser representadas, vividas, con todas esas emociones, matices y momentos álgidos que nos transmiten las canciones y la música. Yo había visto adaptar novelas, cuentos, películas al teatro. Pero nunca un LP. Nunca Berlín de Lou Reed. Con todos sus claros y oscuros, con toda su dureza (escenas que te desgarran) con toda su belleza (y delicadeza) y porque ya de correr un riesgo, correrlo de verdad. No os voy a desvelar más detalles, escuchad el disco, deteneos en sus canciones, en sus letras, id a ver la obra y simplemente, dejaos llevar... Dicen que quien no arriesga no gana, y en esta ocasión os advierto, que el triunfo, es enorme.

I recently spoke with a friend by email and we mentioned that lately we felt "a bit far from classical theatre, and we used to feel attracted by proposals a little more innovative, contemporary, which were surprising and make you vibrate in the seat. Desde Berlin gathers all these, the play, the chronicle, the article with which I want to celebrate the tenth anniversary of our magazine because I felt it was going to be special and it would be worthwhile to talk about it. I remember perfectly well my first article in this magazine. It was about the Edinburgh Fringe (an alternative festival was born parallel to the official one, composed by the many works and companies who failed to be programmed, and which today enjoys great international popularity) Without being aware at the time, this first article was a statement of intent on the chronics, projects, managers, etc who would go through this section. Thus, "the chosen" for this special issue should be a successful shot and Desde Berlin was. Because it was some time since a work does not convince me so much either by its duration, rhythm, scenery,

El punto de partida es casi tan absurdo como su desarrollo; cinco enormes naranjas crecen en una finca de limoneros, a partir de la explosión de una de ellas, los peculiares vecinos de la aldea acuden a ver tan extraño acontecimiento.

The Galician Drama Centre presents this children’s text by the writer Carlos Casares. The starting point is almost as absurd as its development; five enormous oranges grow on a farm of lemons, from the explosion of one of them, the peculiar fellow villagers flock to see that strange event.

LA DIVINA PROPORCIÓN THE DIVINE PROPORTION

— “Cinco siglos de diferencia y una misma intención” (...).

— "Five centuries of difference and the same intention" (...).

Por un lado, El Hombre de Vitruvio (obra de Leonardo da Vinci alrededor del año 1490), un tratado del estudio de las proporciones del cuerpo humano, realizado a partir de los textos del arquitecto de la antigua Roma Vitruvio, (...). La relación entre el lado del cuadrado y el radio del círculo determina la razón áurea. (...). Por otro lado, El Modulor (obra de Le Corbusier en el año 1953), un sistema de medidas ideado por el famoso arquitecto y que está recogido en el libro del mismo nombre. Se basa en las medidas naturales del hombre y en la razón áurea, (…). Nos encontramos ante dos formas de representación completamente diferentes realizadas al amparo de un único elemento casi mágico denominado como sección áurea, razón áurea o dorada, media áurea, divina proporción, número de oro o número Ф 1,61803398874989…, un número irracional que posee muchas propiedades interesantes (…). Hoy en día podemos seguir viéndola en multitud de diseños, como en la medida de las tarjetas de crédito y el carné de identidad, en las cajetillas de tabaco o en el edificio de la ONU en Nueva York, (...). "La geometría tiene dos grandes tesoros: uno es el teorema de Pitágoras; el otro, la división de una línea entre el extremo y su proporcional. Probablemente sea el que más curiosidad ha despertado a lo largo de los años entre los lectores de esta publicación, concretamente de la sección de arquitectura y actualidad, y por este motivo se vuelve a editar parcialmente aprovechando el 10º aniversario de la revista. Así pues, de esta manera se rinde un pequeño homenaje de felicitación a por la trayectoria de todos estos años, esperando que sean muchos más...

On the other side, The Modulor (by Le Corbusier in 1953), a set of measures designed by the famous architect and collected in the book of the same name. It is based on the natural measures of man and the golden ratio, (...). We face two completely different forms of representation made under one almost magical element called golden section, golden ratio, divine proportion, golden number or number Ф≈1,61803398874989 ..., an irrational number which has many interesting properties (...). Today we can still see it in many designs, as far as the measures of credit cards and IDs, on the packets of tobacco or the UN building in New York, (...). "Geometry has two great treasures; one is the Theorem of Pythagoras; the other, the division of a line into extreme and mean ratio. The first we may compare to a measure of gold; the second we may name a precious jewel " (Johannes Kepler 1571-1630). This was the article entitled Human Scale which was published on the issue nº21 of +coruña magazine in the summer of 2006. QUE VIENE EL COCOONING HERE COMES THE COCOONING

— Los cocooners invierten en calidad de vida de puertas adentro, porque su máxima es ‘mi casa es mi castillo’. Se trata de crear una burbuja de paz en la que relajarse y disfrutar, sólos o en compañía.

El cocooning tiene que ver con esos momentos bucólico pastoriles de invierno, de ‘manta, chimenea y libro’ mientras fuera ruge el viento y cala la lluvia. Es una tendencia en diseño y en estilo de vida que cada vez gana más adeptos, debido a, entre otras cosas, el auge de las tecnologías e internet y la crisis. El término fue acuñado por la visionaria consultora americana Faith Popcorn a mediados de los 90, quien vaticinó que en las siguientes dos décadas tenderíamos a buscar un refugio seguro frente a la hostilidad del mundo que nos rodea. Los cocooners invierten en calidad de vida de puertas adentro, porque su máxima es ‘mi casa es mi castillo’. Se trata de crear una burbuja de paz en la que relajarse y disfrutar, sólos o en compañía. En decoración y en diseño,

predominan los colores neutros y sobrios, las materias primas naturales, los objetos funcionales, que convierten el hogar en una especie de reconfortante trinchera moderna. El ambiente cálido y confortable se consigue con luces indirectas, velas, música... Se invita a la gente a casa y cualquier excusa es buena: improvisar una reunión y pedir algo para comer (rollo Just-Eat), hacer un maratón de cine, tertulias, meriendas o incluso un diy. La demanda in crescendo que genera el cocooning es muy amplia: vinos, utensilios de cocina, electrodomésticos, tecnología, objetos decorativos, productos asociados al placer y al bienestar... Pues sí, un cocooner está en su salsa en una bañera de agua bien caliente con espuma, sales y velas aromáticas, música ambiente y

copita de vino en ese artilugio de diseño tan práctico que sirve de apoyo y que compró online. Vamos, que para desconectar del mundanal ruido y del estrés, se monta un pseudo spa en el cuarto de baño... La gastronomía, y todo lo que tiene que ver con ella, está muy ligada a este modus vivendi. Darle al mortero es chic, y uno de los centros neurálgicos del cocooning es la cocina. Un espacio vital en el que el anfitrión se puede lucir como chef, hacer experimentos culinarios con los amigos, pasar la tarde haciendo repostería en familia, e incluso alardear de lo aprendido en aquel curso de cata (ese sí, presencial). Porque ojo!: a los cocooners también les gusta salir, aunque en Navidades son muy fans del ‘Home, sweet home’.

The cocooning has to do with those bucolic pastoral moments of winter, with â&#x20AC;&#x153;rug, fireplace and book' while the wind roars outside and the rain falls. It's a trend in design and in lifestyle that is gaining more and more followers, due to, among other things, the rise of technology, internet and crisis. The term was coined by the visionary American consultant Faith Popcorn in the mid-90s, who predicted that in the next two decades we must seek a safe haven from the hostility of the world around us. The cocooners invest in quality of life from indoors, because their motto is 'my home is my castle'. It is about creating a bubble of peace in which to relax and enjoy, alone or in company. In decoration and design, the neutral and sober colors are predominant, natural raw materials, functional objects, turning the home into a sort of comforting modern trench. The warm and comfortable environment is achieved with indirect lighting, candles, music ... They invite people to go to their home and any excuse is good: improvise a meeting and ordering something to eat (in the Just-Eat style), make a

movie marathon, discussions , snacks or even a diy. The crescendo demand generated by cocooning is vast: wines, kitchenware, appliances, technology, decorative objects, products associated with pleasure and well-being ... Well yes, a cocooner is at his best in a tub of hot water with foam, salts and scented candles, soothing music and a glass of wine in that thing with so practical design that serves as support and he purchased online. Well, in order to disconnect from the noise and stress, they built a pseudo spa in the bathroom ... The cuisine, and everything that has to do with it, is closely linked to this modus vivendi. CABEZAS CABEZAS

— Hay artistas que nacen artistas, y otros que estudian para intentar serlo, y Jorge es de los primeros. Talento innato le llaman.

A lo largo de los 10 años de esta publicación, una constante en muchos de los rincones de esta ciudad ha sido la impronta de Jorge Cabezas. Lo conocí cuando coincidimos en la misma mesa, en la boda de una compañera de esta revista, entonces +coruña. En un momento dado, después de la cena, se puso a garabatear trazos rápidos en una servilleta... Y voilà!, allí estaba uno de esos dibujos tan personales y expresivos que solo él sabe crear. Hay artistas que nacen artistas, y otros que estudian para intentar serlo, y Jorge es de los primeros. Talento innato le llaman. El arte le sale a borbotones,

eso fue lo que pensé en aquel momento. Su universo iconográfico está lleno de objetos cotidianos y domésticos, que para mi son un reflejo de su propia sencillez como persona. No se entendería una Coruña sin este fan del Depor, de Picasso y del Rock and Roll, sin su presencia en los garitos y calles de la ciudad, muchas veces con su bici de compañera y en horarios de semana que no suelen ser habituales para el común de los mortales… Leí en un par de entrevistas que si se tuviese que identificar con un movimiento sería con el punk: ‘Hago lo que me da la gana cuando me da la gana’. Desde su

primera exposición en O Patacón, de la mano de Vari Caramés (artista que nos dejó una de sus maravillosas fotos para una de nuestras primeras portadas), Cabezas ha estado siempre en movimiento, como el humo de sus pipas. En 1992 ya obtenía el primer premio en el concurso Fundación Araguaney. Su obra formar parte de colecciones de distintas instituciones como el Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Galicia, o la colección Dry Martini de Barcelona, pero también de muchas casas y muchos locales. Sus numerosas colaboraciones siempre han estado ahí: desde hacer de él mismo

I met him when we met at the same table at the wedding of a colleague of this magazine, +coruña at those times. After the dinner, he started scribbling very quickly on a napkin ... Since his first exhibition in O Patacón, hand in hand with Vari Caramés (an artist who left us one of his wonderful photos for one of our first covers), Cabezas has always been on the move, as the smoke of his pipes. Already in 1992 he obtained the first prize in the contest Araguaney Foundation. His works is part of collections of various institutions such as the Oficial Association of Architects of Galicia, or Barcelona Dry Martini collection, but also of many houses and many venues. His many collaborations have always been there: from playing himself in the film '18 meals' by Jorge Coira, to make album covers, posters, murals, textiles and a long etc ... Among all this activity, in 2008 a neighbor of Canido, one of the historic areas of Ferrol in total abandonment, painted over a mural of Jorge, and this triggered 'Las Meninas de Canido', a protest movement, artistic and creative with great impact which is on the track to become European Cultural Route. Amazing . I am looking forward to see the master in the streets again, as in all these years ...

en la película de Jorge Coira ‘18 comidas’, a hacer portadas de discos, carteles, murales, textiles y un larguísimo etc… Entre toda esa actividad, fue en 2008 cuando un vecino del barrio de Canido, una de las zonas históricas de Ferrol en total abandono, pintó por encima de un mural de Jorge, y ello desencadenó ‘Las Meninas de Canido’, un movimiento reivindicativo, artístico y creativo de gran repercusión que va camino de convertirse en Itinerario Cultural Europeo. Ahí es nada. Deseando volver a ver al maestro por las calles, como todos estos años...

LA EDICIÓN EN LA ERA DE LAS REDES EDITION IN THE ERA OF NETWORKS

Parece que fue ayer cuando con la llegada de Internet muchos auguraban la muerte del libro. Hoy por el contrario, asistimos a una incipiente revolución en el tablero del mundo editorial. Cada vez existe mayor número de propuestas y cada vez más estimulantes, fruto en parte de la proliferación de pequeñas editoriales. En su libro Futuro perfecto el experto en arquitectura de redes Steven Johnson celebraba el poder innovador de las redes descentralizadas. Para este gurú de la informática ese futuro perfecto del título residía en la multiplicación en Internet de las relaciones de iguales (peer to peer) en detrimento de la de cliente-servidor propia de la red centralizada. Ejemplos de esta tendencia son Webs como libro.com, Verkami, Kickstarter... basadas en la financiación por crowdfunding. Encuentros internaciones de microeditores, Festivales de editoriales independientes (H.U.L Hostia un libro!, GRAF...) son espacios de pluralidad creativa para emprendedores que desean ver por fin impresa en papel a sus escritores fetiche, así como los que buscan crear un foco desde el que dar rienda a un género en particular. Últimamente están pegando las novelas de

corte pulp que retoman el testigo de las historias baratas de bolsillo de los años 20 y 30; novelillas estilo weird menace que mezclan terror, sexo y violencia y que causan furor entre aquellos que se lanzan con su primera novela. Igualmente es creciente el fervor por el fanzine que parecía estar en horas bajas. Sin duda un futuro lleno de posibilidades, donde las estanterías se reciclarán, haciendo sitio a la cantidad de sugestivas publicaciones que están por llegar.

Tranvías amarillos, una mujer hermosa, un cartel en un bar que ya cerró: “Aquí bebieron Ilsa y Víctor Laszlo”. El Benfica gana la liga portuguesa 11 años después. Xaouen. Marruecos (2006). Un viaje inesperado al África más próximo. Un guía con dolor de muelas, un laberinto de azules y chilabas. Olores, regateo, té de menta, chiquillos, música, pereza, frutas, cordero, cuscús. El humo del hachís congelando el tiempo, la Medina y el Rif al atardecer.

Capri, Italia (2009). Una piscina para emperadores –la gruta azulinvadida por turistas en visitas restringidas por la propia naturaleza. El lugar donde Neruda inoculó a su cartero la pasión por los versos y las mujeres con sonrisas que se expanden como una mariposa.

DIEZ AÑOS INTENTANDO NO COPIAR... X YEARS TRYING NOT TO COPY...

— Esto es precisamente lo que hemos intentado desde hace ahora 10 años: sorprender, innovar, agradar, ver las cosas tradicionales desde otra perspectiva... poner al día los valores de siempre. En definitiva, crear y NO COPIAR!

Cuando comenzaba la andadura +coruña, hace ahora 10 años, teníamos en cuenta que había que estar al lado de los mejores y atender a lo que estos hacían. Y lo puso primero en práctica Cristino Álvarez, el gran maestro comunicador de emociones gastronómicas. Él describió a los mejores de aquí y de allá. De allá, concretamente de Roses, Ferrán Adrià era el protagonista de un artículo aparecido en el número 3, en enero de 2005, titulado MAGIA, TRANSGRESIÓN, PROVOCACIÓN... GENIALIDAD. Una cocina que desconcierta, que provoca, que encanta, que sorprende... –atendiendo a lo que había observado en el gran auditorio del Palacio del Kursaal, de San Sebastián unas semanas antes-. "Crear es... no copiar", le dijo Maximin. Entonces, Adrià encerró bajo siete llaves todos los libros de cocina y se dedicó a crear –continuaba describiendo Apicius-. Unos números más tarde, dedicó su artículo a “uno de aquí”: Cuando se hizo cargo del restaurante familiar, ‘Casa Solla’, en San Salvador de Poio, gozaba de un solidísimo prestigio

como uno de los principales templos de la cocina gallega tradicional, acumulaba premios, tenía una clientela fidelísima... Pepe Solla Jr. decidió que había que intentar renovar, modernizar, poner al día, esa cocina. Y lo ha conseguido. Él mismo dice: “yo no soy un cocinero ‘moderno’; simplemente, veo la cocina tradicional con los ojos de mi edad, de mi tiempo”... Esto es precisamente lo que hemos intentado desde hace ahora 10 años: sorprender, innovar, agradar, ver las cosas tradicionales desde otra perspectiva... poner al día los valores de siempre. En definitiva, crear y NO COPIAR! Un proceso paralelo se ha dado en un gran número de restaurantes de raíces galegas que se han renovado (y triunfado!) con platos más actuales, donde el producto de aquí convive con otros conceptos de allá. Una filosofía que es precisamente nuestro leitmotiv y también el de A Cofradía de Rinlo. Me viene a la mente esta antigua casa de comidas, galega donde las haya, convertida en templo gastronómico del arroz caldoso, un plato que, no siendo típico de Galicia y si de

otras latitudes como Portugal o el Levante, se enriquece con un producto como el bogavante que (el mejor) sí es de aquí. Una mínima transformación del producto que ha generado un éxito asombroso. Ni que decir tiene que esa renovación en base a la tradición tiene en nuestra tierra unha chea de ejemplos además de ese fabuloso rincón da Mariña Lucense. Sirva como homenaje a la originalidad, entre otros, los siguientes: Alborada, Pepe Vieira, A Estación de Cambre, As Garzas, Yayo Daporta, Casa Marcelo, Abastos 2.0 y Loxe Mareiro, La Molinera, A Casa de Suárez, Maruja Limón, El Culler de Pau, Pandemonium... (me dejo muchos, lo sé). Aún mezclando categorías y con alguno de ellos quizás más laureado por la crítica especializada que otros, todos han recibido un gran reconocimiento del público, que es en definitiva el verdadero polo con el que nuestro especial hilo conductor sobre la gastronomía de aquí y de allá intenta conectar.

When the journey of +coruña started, now 10 years ago, we had in mind that we must be next to the best and pay attention to what they did. The first one to put it into practice was Cristino Alvarez, the great master communicator of gastronomic emotions. He described the best from here and there. From there, specifically from Roses, Ferran Adrià was the protagonist of an article that appeared in Issue 3, in January 2005, entitled MAGIC, TRANSGRESSION, PROVOCATION,... GENIOUS. A cuisine that unsettles, provokes, casts, amazes, ... – paying attention to what he observed in the big auditorium of the Palacio Kursaal, in San Sebastian, few weeks before-. "Creating is ... not to copy," Maximin said. Then Adrià shut under lock all the cookbooks and went on to create ', Apicius continued describing-. A few issues later, he devoted his article to “an autoctonous one". When he took over the family restaurant, 'Casa Solla' in San Salvador de Poio, he enjoyed a very solid reputation as one of the main temples of the traditional Galician cuisine, accumulated awards, had a very loyal clientele ... A parallel process has occurred in a big number of restaurants with Galician roots that have renovated (and won!) with more modern plates, where the local product coexists with other concepts from there. A philosophy that is precisely our leitmotif and also that of A Cofradía de Rinlo. It comes to my mind, that old eatery, very Galician, converted into gastronomic temple of soupy rice, a dish that although not very typical in Galicia but from other places such as Portugal or Levant, is enriched with a product like lobster that ( the best) is autochthonous. A minimal transformation of the product that has generated an astounding success. Needless to say that such renewal based on the tradition has much more examples in our land, in addition to that great corner of the Lugo Coast. As a tribute to originality, among others, the following: Alborada, Pepe Vieira, A Estación De Cambre, As Garzas, Yayo Daporta, Casa Marcelo, Abastos 2.0 and Loxe Mareiro, La Molinera, A Casa de Suárez, Maruja Limón, El Culler de Pau, Pandemonium, ... (I am leaving out many names, I know). Even mixing categories and some of them perhaps more recognized in the specialized critique than others, they all have received great public recognition, which is ultimately the true pole with which our special thread on the cuisine from here and there tries to connect.

Hoy me vais a permitir que, por primera vez, hable por mi misma y en primera persona. Que ya iba siendo hora, 10 años después (como cantaban Los Rodríguez). Llevo una década calladita y ya me apetecía a mi desmelenarme un poco, así que esta vez seré yo, en primera persona, la que cuente su versión de la historia. Permitidme que me presente: me llamo M\A\S\G\A\L\I\C\I\A y es un placer saludaros, por fin. Tanto tiempo viéndonos y sin conocernos personalmente. Cumplo diez años de vida y el equipo que se encarga de ilustrarme y escribirme –mis adorados estilistas- se empeña en hacer de este número algo especial. ¿Es que a caso los anteriores no lo han sido? Yo, que pongo todo mi empeño en ser la reina de la fiesta en cada evento, la primera en saberlo todo. Qué forma de menospreciarme, de verdad. ¿A caso no se acuerdan de cómo éramos hace diez años? Yo era más joven, más local, pero igual de fresca e irreverente, igual de creativa. Pero ellos… ay madre mía ellos. Cada vez que veo las fotos de aquellas primeras fiestas de aniversario me entra una risa floja tremenda. Ellos que se creían trendies y elegantes, que hoy son unos profesionales chics... con esas pintas. Deberíais haberlos visto. Bueno, de hecho, igual les habéis visto. Porque muchos de vosotros sois mis lectores desde que me llamaba +coruña. En ese caso, coincidiréis conmigo que en estoy envejeciendo divinamente, ¿o a caso no? No todas pueden decir lo mismo en plena crisis, y después de haber pasado por tanto: por festivales de música, por la eclosión de electro más moderno, por la nueva literatura erótica, por los coffee shops slow life, por la arquitectura new age, por

nuevas formas de vida, por el regreso del grunge y la muerte del hipster... El caso es que diez años después aquí estamos. Aquí estoy. Dirigiéndome por primera vez a vosotros en primera persona para dar las gracias a quien me ha visto, a quien me ve. Y a quien me seguirá viendo. Y para pediros que no seáis muy crueles con el equipo este de humanos que trabaja para mi. Pobrecillos, hacen lo que pueden. Y ellos no envejecen tan bien como yo, claramente.

— Desde mi ventana indiscreta me entretengo imaginando vidas a partir de sus vestuarios. Vestuario antes del guión, al revés que en mi trabajo.

Una de mis diversiones favoritas, observar cómo va vestida la gente. Desde mi ventana indiscreta me entretengo imaginando vidas a partir de sus vestuarios. En las salas de espera, en las terrazas, en los restaurantes, y sobre todo en el metro, como Georges Perec, me paso horas inventariando las pintas que me cruzo por la calle. Las calles de las ciudades son un catálogo sin fin de estilismos, estás de viaje y no das abasto. Ya, pero también están los pueblos, y allí hay gentes que se visten de domingo, de faena, de funeral, y lo mejor, están pasados de moda. Siempre supe que en la calle estaba gran parte de mi inspiración. Hace años entre mis amigos íntimos cuando veíamos a alguien vestido de manera muy original murmurábamos entre risas FiguraciónFiguración y tratábamos de retener esa imagen en la memoria. Pensaba yo lo bien que me vendría hacerle fotos a toda esa gente, pero entonces no había móviles a mano. Por eso cuando mi hermana se trajo de NY aquel libro maravilloso de Scott Schuman, supe que era lo mismo que hubiera querido hacer yo. The Sartorialist, una mina, y la confirmación de que para vestir personajes nada mejor que reparar en la gente real. La cosa es tan fácil como acercar la mirada al hábito, al uniforme, al desfile cotidiano, donde tantos se esfuerzan en ser originales y algunos no son conscientes de que su vestir es otra historia, la vida sin instrucciones de uso, sólo hay que saber mirar. Y es una suerte retener esos estilismos

raros en la memoria particular y en la colectiva. Todo está en los libros, nos decían en la escuela, y era cierto, yo devoraba páginas y me apasionaban las descripciones de las ropas de aquellas personas que no pude conocer. Después, mis padres me aficionaron al cine y ahí estaban para mi disfrute todos los tipos, y todas las épocas, a lo grande. Salir a ver escaparates, los domingos, que era día de paseo y las tiendas estaban cerradas fue uno de los pasatiempos de mi infancia. Entonces, en Compostela, los escaparates tenían tanta luz y aquella ropa tan bonita. Al tiempo cayeron en mis manos las primeras revistas de Moda y empecé mi colección, tengo tantas que un día ellas mismas me echarán de casa. Años después descubrí el Museo del Prado, el gran catálogo de indumentarias, las mejores telas, saludándonos desde otros tiempos, otras hechuras. Libros, películas, escaparates, revistas, y museos más tarde, me sigue apasionando poner la lupa en las ropas ajenas, aunque con tanta tecnología mi inspiración se ha vuelto un poco comodona. Prefiero la apariencia del que se viste inconscientemente, pero ahora abundan los otros, los que planean su look para autorretratarse, los que cobran por posar con lo que les prestan, los it, los chupacámaras, los esforzados. Es momento de estilismos virales, outfits, poses y postureo. En fin, yo no sabía que mi pasatiempo favorito se llamaría algún día Street Style. + Libros, + Cine, + Arte, + Viajes, y + Moda. One of my favourite hobbies is to see how people are dressed. From my rear window I entertain myself imagining different lives from their clothes. Costumes before the script, unlike in my work. In waiting rooms, on terraces, in restaurants, and especially in the subway, as Georges Perec, I spend hours inventorying the clothes I see on the street. The city streets are an endless catalogue of outfits, when you're travelling you cannot stop. Yes, but there are also villages, and there, there are people who wear Sunday clothes, work clothes, funeral clothes, and the best, they are outmoded. I always knew that a big part of my inspiration was on the street. A los que nos hemos pasado media vida escuchando lo “raritos y rebeldes” que somos, esto de que una gran empresa apueste por la “oveja negra” nos llena de orgullo y satisfacción. Y cuando quien apuesta por la diferencia es Estrella Galicia, la alegría ya es máxima. El pasado 19 de noviembre la cervecera gallega más internacional presentaba en Santiago su última creación, una mezcla de cuatro maltas diseñada para marcar la diferencia y salirse de lo establecido. 1906 Black Coupage es una cerveza negra que no se parece a ninguna otra cerveza negra. Con estilo

propio y ganas de sorprender, como la fiesta de presentación organizada para su puesta de largo. La Sala Capitol se tiñó de negro para celebrar una noche en la que nada era lo que parecía: los invitados pudieron disfrutar de un maestro de ceremonias de excepción, Juan Luis Cano, que con humor –a veces negro, como no podía ser de otro modo- condujo una gala que contó con una banda sonora de excepción a caballo entre el rock de los Rockers Go To Hell, versionando temas como Black is Black o The Black Man, o el flamenco fusión de Josemi Carmona y Jorge Pardo.

La irreverencia de la nueva “oveja negra” de la familia de Estrella Galicia la representó el cómico Rober Bodegas, y la nota culinaria corrió a cargo de Pepe Solla, encargado de preparar una selección de pinchos donde el negro tomaba la batuta: caviar, arroz negro, trufas… y una buena lager negra 1906 Black Coupage regando la cena. Suenan villancicos, en el supermercado el turrón es el nuevo negro y si conseguimos no amargarnos con el exceso de alcohol y de familia –que a veces es exceso- nos invaden unas ganas increíbles de hacer felices a los que nos rodean. El “efecto Navidad” es fantástico, pero, ¿cuánto dura? Hace ya años que se demostró que nuestras pequeñas acciones repercuten en nuestro entorno de forma amplificada. Es algo así como la simplificación del efecto mariposa. Si sonríes a la cajera del super mientras pagas es posible que ella sonría al siguiente cliente serio, y a su vez este sonría al taxista que le lleva, y el taxista a su mujer, y su mujer a sus hijos, y sus hijos al maestro, y este a su hermana, que es cajera en el super de debajo de tu casa, y mañana te recibirá con el reflejo de esa sonrisa que tú ayer provocaste. Así, simplificando. Sabiendo que estas son fechas propicias a la solidaridad más visible, nuestra misión será intentar que se haga firme también la invisible.
