PANTIS: LA NECESIDAD PERPETUA / EL PRESENTIMIENTO EMERXENCIAS \ PANTIS: THE PERPETUAL NEED / THE PRESENTIMENT

¿Quién es? Pantis es el proyecto en solitario de Rubén Domínguez, un todoterreno del indie gallego que lideró los extintos Telephones Rouges y también forma parte de Chicharrón. “Pantis empezó como una sensación mientras vivía en Lisboa”, explica él. “Por aquel entonces tocaba en Telephones Rouges y la logística para ensayar o dar conciertos era muy complicada. Siempre he tenido una pulsión irrefrenable de producir canciones, explorar vías de composición y estilos, por lo que en ese momento pensé Pantis como una necesidad perpetua y como un presentimiento. Quería introducirme en un proyecto completamente personal a todos los niveles y que fuese transportable a cualquier sitio en el que pudiese acabar. Después de años de compartir bandas, Pantis es como el refugio y, al mismo tiempo, la selva”. ¿A qué suena? Electrónica oscura e hipnótica con textos en gallego de alta intensidad poética. ¿Cómo dio sus primeros pasos? “Empecé de la mejor forma posible”, nos

cuenta Rubén. “En un concierto en medio de la nada en una aldea abandonada de Ourense que están recuperando unos chicos franceses increíbles. Era verano, estaba oscuro y mientras organizaba los pedales para empezar a tocar me sentí abandonado. Nunca había experimentado esa soledad antes de un concierto, pero en ese momento me evadí del entorno y entré en una especie de magnetismo con el pensamiento”. ¿Qué le influye? “El experimentalismo alemán de los 70, sobre todo Neu! y La Dusseldorf, el cine alucinado de Herzog y la emoción y desgarro de Fassbinder. También está mi devoción por la música brasileira y por esa “teoría” de los tropicalistas del “som universal”. Todo ello siempre desde un prisma gallego, de relación con la propia tradición musical de aquí y desde esa perspectiva vital que nos da la naturaleza, el clima, la historia”. ¿Qué ha publicado? Acaba de lanzar “Pranto” (Prenom, 2016), solo en formato CD. “El disco está concebido como una pieza narrativa, siempre pensaba que debía ser escuchado como un todo y desistí rápidamente de la idea de editarlo en vinilo y fragmentar el discurso en dos partes”, justifica. ¿Qué viene ahora? Tiene varias fechas cerradas en Galicia y el resto de España a partir de abril, aunque su objetivo “es bajar todo lo que pueda a Portugal, que es un país increíble para estar y para tocar”. Serán directos completamente en solitario. “Quiero que cada concierto sea un microcosmos irrepetible y que las canciones decrezcan, muten, se retuerzan en cada sitio de una forma diferente. Además –explica- estoy desarrollando otras facetas del disco y, a lo largo de este año, se irá completando el mapa. La idea es hacer una pieza audiovisual para cada corte y que juntas creen un mosaico, una especie de vehículo visual que colisione con la música y con las propias palabras”. Who is? Pantis is the solo project of Ruben Dominguez, an all-terrain of the Galician indie who led the extinct Telephones Rouges and was also part of Chicharrón. "Pantis began as a feeling while living in Lisbon", he explains. "Back then I played in Telephones Rouges and logistics for the rehearsals and the concerts was very complicated. I've always had an irrepressible drive to produce songs, explore ways of composition and styles, so at that time I thought Pantis as a perpetual need and as presentiment. I wanted to introduce myself in a completely personal project at all levels and transportable to any place where I could end. After years of sharing bands, Pantis is like the shelter and, at the same time, the jungle". What kind of music? Dark and hypnotic electronics with texts in Galician with high poetic intensity. How did you take the first step? "I started in the best possible way", Ruben says. "At a concert in the middle of nowhere in an abandoned village of Ourense which is being recovered by some incredible French boys. It was summer, it was dark and while I organized the pedals to start playing I felt abandoned. I had never experienced that loneliness before a concert, but at that moment I evaded the environment and got into a kind of magnetism with the thought". What are your influences? "The German experimentalism of the 70s, espe-

cially Neu! and La Dusseldorf, the hallucinated films by Herzog and the emotion and tears of Fassbinder. There is also my devotion to Brazilian musicand that "theory" of the tropicalists of the "universal som". All this always with a Galician point of view, of relationship with the Galician musical tradition, and from that vital perspective that gives us nature, climate, history". What have you published? Just released "Pranto" (Prenom, 2016), only in CD format. "The album is conceived as a narrative piece, I always thought it should be listen to as a whole and quickly gave up the idea of editing it in vinyl and fragmenting the album into two parts", he explains. What’s next? He has several confirmed dates in Galicia and the rest of Spain since next April, although his aim "is to go as much as I can to Portugal, which is an amazing country to be and to play". There will be concerts completely solo. "I want every concert to be a unique microcosm and that the songs decrease, change, squirm at each place in a different way. In addition to that, he explains, I am developing other facets of the album, and throughout this year, the map will be completed. The idea is to make an audiovisual piece for each cut and that together create a mosaic, a kind of visual vehicle that collides with the music and the words themselves". Nunca sabremos hasta dónde habría llegado Mark Lanegan de no haber sido fiel a si mismo. No suele conceder entrevistas promocionales ni dirigirse al público en los conciertos. Una vida dura e intensa con diversas adicciones. Cuando el grunge dominaba todo, su banda de rock Screaming Trees podría haber sido de masas, como Nirvana o Pearl Jam, pero prefirieron el segundo plano. Su carrera en solitario siempre la compaginaba con su presencia en grupos como Mad Season, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Twilight Singers y The Gutter Twins (con Greg Dulli de Afghan Wings), el dúo con Isobel Campbell (Belle and Sebastian); sus colaboraciones con Nick Cave, Moby, James Lavelle o Slash y en bandas sonoras de películas. En sus nueve álbumes de estudio publicados desde 1990 hay blues, rock, post-punk o folk cantados con una voz

tenebrosa. En esta gira europea con banda también le acompañará como invitado el multi-instrumentista Duke Garwood con quien tiene un álbum conjunto “Black Pudding”(2013). Este lobo solitario de 1964 sigue muy vivo con una capacidad inagotable para dar más de 30 conciertos en casi 40 días. Entre el 19 de abril y el 30 de mayo tocará en el Reino Unido, Irlanda, Francia, Holanda, Alemania, Bélgica, Noruega, Suecia, República Checa, Suiza, Italia y Portugal. En España estará el 25 de mayo en el Teatro Lara de Madrid (SON Estrella Galicia), el 26 en San Sebastián y el 27 en A Coruña (estas dos últimas fechas estaban sin confirmar cuando entregué este artículo).

Never Learn to Love (Capitol, 1968) A finales de 1968, Charles Manson montó en cólera al descubrir el plagio de una de sus canciones, todavía inéditas, como cara B del single de adelanto del nuevo álbum de los Beach Boys, ‘20/20’ (Capitol, 1969). Para mayor agravio, el tema venía firmado por su amigo Dennis Wilson, frustrando sus aspiraciones de convertirse en una estrella de la canción. Y a punto estuvo de conseguirlo gracias a los

contactos del músico, quien le presentó al hijo de Doris Day y productor musical, Terry Melcher, durante una fiesta en su mansión de Cielo Drive. La traición avivó el desprecio de Manson por el género humano y precipitó los acontecimientos.

At the end of 1968, Charles Manson got angry when discovering that one of his songs, still unpublished, had been plagiarized, as the B-side of the advance single of the new album of the Beach Boys, '20 / 20' (Capitol, 1969). Furthermore, the song was

Existe un cierto consenso a la hora de señalar el 9 de agosto de 1969 como el verdadero fin de la Era de Acuario, cuando la noticia de un brutal homicidio múltiple conmocionó a la opinión pública norteamericana. Entre las víctimas se encontraba la actriz Sharon Tate, de veintiséis años y embarazada de Roman Polanski, un polémico cineasta polaco que acababa de estrenar una película sobre el nacimiento del Anticristo. Al día siguiente las citas al White Album (Apple, 1968) cobraron visos de retribución apocalíptica al aparecer escritas con sangre en otra escena del crimen: el hogar del empresario Leno LaBianca. Para Manson todos eran culpables del único delito que a él mismo se le había negado: el éxito. Paradójicamente, encarna aquella máxima de John Lennon sobre ser más famoso que Jesucristo.

There is a certain consensus in marking the 9 of August 1969 as the true end of the Age of Aquarius, when news of a brutal multiple murder shocked the American public opinion. The victims included actress Sharon Tate, twenty-six and Roman Polanski's pregnant, a controversial Polish filmmaker who had just released a film about the birth of the Antichrist. To Know Him Is To Love Him (Doré, 1958) Manson cumplió 82 años el pasado mes de noviembre. Se describe a sí mismo como una víctima del sistema, como un mártir pero también como un ejecutor. Mientras espera a la enésima revisión de su condena, Charlie no pierde la esperanza de trabajar con otro huésped ilustre de la penitenciaría de Corcoran, al que conside-

Su nombre es Phil Spector, colaborador de The Beatles además una de las máximas influencias de The Beach Boys y actualmente cumple condena por el asesinato de la actriz Lana Clarkson. Presten atención a la letra de su debut discográfico e imaginen lo irresistible de un futurible dueto: “Conocerlo es amarlo / y todos dicen que llegará el día / en que estaré caminando a su lado”.

Un gran guitarrista como Ándres Herrera se marcó un gran disco en 2012 bajo el sobrenombre de Pájaro. "Santa Leone" fue la presentación en solitario de todo un veterano de la escena sevillana, con unas dotes a las seis cuerdas que emparejan las raíces andaluzas con las estadounidenses sin ningún tipo de ambages. En 2016 llega el disco que le sucede, "He matado al ángel".

John Lydon, una de las últimas leyendas vivas de la música británica, se presenta en Madrid con su con su grupo más longevo, PiL. Comentar que fue el líder de los Sex Pistols es mencionar solo una parte de la historia del gran talento londinense, autor de auténticos himnos también con los Public Image Limited.

La gran mayoría de las edificaciones están construidas con una base estructural de hormigón o acero que permite garantizar la continuidad y carga de los esfuerzos a los que está sometido todo edificio. Sin embargo el uso masificado en construcción de estos materiales ensombrece la utilización de la madera a nivel arquitectónico, estando muy poco extendido en nuestro país. En contra de lo que la mayoría pueda pensar, la madera como material constructivo tiene unas características realmente encomiables, insuperable en muchos casos en cuanto a resistencia y durabilidad se refiere. Estructuralmente su comportamiento es excelente y su estabilidad depende fundamentalmente de la capacidad de las uniones, a la vez que facilita la puesta en obra realizando el montaje de una forma rápida y sencilla. Es un material natural de poco peso relativo bastante susceptible a los cambios frecuentes de humedad pero, sin embargo, si ésta es constante o varía levemente hace que la madera sea altamente resistente en todo tipo de medios, ya sea al aire libre o sumergida, por lo que es frecuente también su utilización en entornos marinos. Como elemento de gran estabilidad y producto combustible no

inflamable sus propiedades mecánicas apenas se ven afectadas por el fuego, aportando un margen de tiempo suficiente para proceder a una posible evacuación del inmueble afectado. Este hecho se produce gracias a la formación de una costra de carbón en la superficie que disminuye la conductividad térmica y protege al elemento de madera por un tiempo relativamente largo, manteniendo su resistencia estructural. Nos encontramos, pues, ante un material muy noble de propiedades casi desconocidas, al tiempo que sorprendentes, y con una calidez y claridad formal digno de los mayores elogios al que, incomprensiblemente, no se le otorga el valor que realmente merece: ojalá algún día su uso en construcción se convierta en algo más allá del famoso y mítico grito “más madera, es la guerra”.

The vast majority of buildings are constructed with a structural concrete or steel base which ensures continuity and load of the stresses to which every building is subject. However, the massive use of this materials in construction overshadows the use of wood at the architectural level, being not very common in our country. Contrary to what most might think, wood as a building material has really commendable features, in many cases unbeatable regarding strength and durability. Structurally its behavior is excellent and its stability depends crucially on the ability of the unions, while facilitating the work making the assembly quick and easy. It is a natural material relatively light quite susceptible to frequent changes in humidity but, however, if humidity is constant or varies slightly, it makes the wood being highly resistant to all kinds of environments, either outdoors or submerged, so it is also frequently used in marine environments. As an element of great stability and combustible nonflammable product, its mechanical properties are hardly affected by fire, providing a sufficient margin of time for a possible evacuation of the affected building. This occurs thanks to the formation of a crust of coal on the surface that reduces the thermal conductivity and protects the wood element for a relatively long time, maintaining its structural strength. We are therefore talking about a very noble material with properties that are at the same time almost unknown and striking, and with high warmth and formal clarity that, incomprehensibly, is not considered as it deserves: I hope that one day its use in construction becomes something beyond the famous and legendary cry "more wood, it is war." \ por ÁLVARO OSTA

JOE MATT, INMADUREZ RETROALIMENTADA JOE MATT, FEED BACK IMMATURITY

La publicación de “Peepshow, El diario en tebeos de Joe Matt” nos permite conocer los primeros trabajos del historietista Joe Matt: miembro indisoluble de la editorial canadiense D&Q, en la que igualmente publican Chester Brown y Seth con quienes forma un peculiar trío amiguetil que tiene su reflejo en la obra de cada uno de ellos. A diferencia de la obra de Seth, la obra de Joe Matt –al igual que la de Brown- se adscribe a la historieta autobiográfica, variante donde la honestidad es la principal virtud. Así lo podemos atestiguar en esta obra primeriza de Matt, donde a pesar de un mayor afán experimental, ya se evidencia su posterior tendencia a la autocaricatura. Obra fundamental en los 90 que descollaría en su capacidad de reflejar el verdadero temperamento de cierta juventud de la época. Como heredera de un Ferdydurke o un Bartleby, la inmadurez de la que Matt hace gala en sus comics supone una trinchera frente a los valores del mundo adulto, percibidos estos como fuente de ansiedad. Una inmadurez patológica

con la que enfrenta de aquella manera la incapacidad de relacionarse con el resto del mundo... especialmente cuando es de sexo contrario. En ese sentido, Matt no escatima a la hora de mostrar su ineptitud, cuando no autodesprecio, egoísmo, su cretinismo... y otros ismos. Los comics de Matt enlaza con la “honestidad como terapia” cultivada ya en los 60 por su admirado Robert Crumb; o, mismamente, la tradición del self-deprecating judio que profesaron Lenny Bruce, Woody Allen, o la comedia adolescente de Judd Apatow. Leer los tebeos de Joe Matt evocan cierta nostalgia por la inmadurez que dejamos atrás o, más bien, desearíamos, al descubrirnos con la sonrisa congelada, reflejados en más viñetas de las que estaríamos dispuestos a reconocer.

The publication of "Peepshow, The cartoon diary of Joe Matt", lets us know the early work of the cartoonist Joe Matt: indissoluble member of the Canadian publishing D & Q, which also publishes Chester Brown and Seth, with who he forms a peculiar friendly trio that has it reflection in their own individual work. Unlike the work of Seth, the work of Joe Matt -like that of Brown- ascribes itself to the autobiographical cartoon, a variant where honesty is the main virtue. So we can witness it in this early work of Matt, where despite of a more experimental effort, there are some evidences of his later tendency to self-caricature. Fundamental work in 90, which will stand out because of his ability to reflect the true temperament of some youth of the time. As heir to a Ferdydurke or a Bartleby, the immaturity show by Matt in his comics is a trench against the values of the adult world, perceiving these as a source of anxiety. A pathological immaturity with which he faces the inability to relate to the rest of the world ... especially with the opposite sex. In that sense, Matt does not skimp when it comes to show their ineptitude, self-hatred, selfishness, cretinism ... and other isms. Matt’s comics link to the "honesty as therapy" cultivated and the 60s by his admired Robert Crumb; or even the tradition of the self-deprecating Jew professed by Lenny Bruce, Woody Allen, or the teen comedy from Judd Apatow. Read the comics by Joe Matt evoke a certain nostalgia for the immaturity we left behind or, rather, we wish, when discovering us with the frozen smile, reflected in more vignettes that we would be willing to recognize.

Excodra Entre el maremágnum de publicaciones sobre ese cine heterodoxo alejado de los convencionalismos estéticos, no puedo evitar destacar este apasionado listado de películas de Culto: sea por la afinidad que comparto con los títulos conocidos de antemano o, ante la seguridad -máxime conocido su anterior recopilación del que este “Cult Movies” es continuación- de encontrar en sus página nuevas gemas del celuloide maldito.

Among the welter of publications on this heterodox film away from the aesthetic conventions, I cannot help noting this passionate list of cult films: either because of the affinity that I share with the titles which are known in advance or because of the security – especially when knowing his previous collection which is continued with this "Cult Movies" – of finding new jewels of the damned cinema among its pages.

En el otro extremo de Intramuros está el Parque Rizal, con la estatua del héroe y dos bellos jardines, uno chino y otro japonés, convertidos por derecho propio en el corazón de la ciudad. Desde el parque puede accederse a Roxas Boulevard, que bordea la hermosa bahía de Manila. Se nos va a acabar el espacio sin meternos en Quiapo y sus mercadillos de tiendas, puestos, artesanía, comida, pescado y fruta, porque la tradición (con bolsillo) recomienda dirigirse al refinado y decadente Manila Hotel y tomar una té mientras se contempla la inolvidable puesta de

sol, para cenar después un tanguigue en el Harbor View, al final del South Boulevard. El restaurante es un pantalán iluminado por cientos de bombillas de colores, reflejándose sobre las aguas de la bahía. Mi consejo es menos cool: comprarse el pescado en el vibrante mercado de Parañaque y llevarlo después a cualquiera de los restaurantes cercanos, donde lo cocinarán al estilo filipino. Estamos por fin en Asia y eso merece una noche larga y calurosa para hacer balance de viajes y de versos. Para el caso, sirven los de Gil de Biedma, viejo conocido de la ciudad: Que la vida iba en serio / uno lo empieza a comprender más tarde...

Those who are fans of rankings say that in its bay you can see the most beautiful sunsets on Earth. But that, which depends on the opinion, is only the beginning or the end of the journey. What I do certify is that the city of Manila, on Luzon Island, is certainly a spectacular entrance to the Philippines, an Asian blend of the old and the young, of historic buildings, gleaming skyscrapers and colorful markets; of infernal traffic of cars, vans, motorcycles, tricycles, calash and colourful jeepneys; of streets filled with pungent smells and modern shopping centers with strong air conditioning; of sweltering foreigners and smiling natives. Manila is a great metropolis in the Asian way, composed of four cities and thirteen municipal districts totaling 630 square kilometers and 14 million inhabitants. Therefore, it will never fit in 500 words.

It was born in Intramuros, the original Spanish city that was built by order of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi in 1571, and which over time has suffered fires, attacks, typhoons and earthquakes. There still are, despite everything, some architectural jewels of its Spanish past, such as the wall itself, the eight times rebuilt Manila Cathedral and the church of St. Augustine, the oldest Catholic church in the Philippines-. Also Casa Manila, which faithfully reproduces a colonial house with original decorative objects and furniture of the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, and that decorates since the 80s this corner of the "garden" of Imelda. North of Intramuros, on the Pasig River, stands fort Santiago, which served as headquarters to Spanish, British, American and Japanese, the major powers who have intervened in the fate of the Philippines.

Declared public park since 1950, it is considered Shrine of Liberty and so it is visited. At the other end of Intramuros is located Rizal Park, with the statue of the hero and two beautiful gardens, one Chinese and one Japanese, turned for their own right in the heart of the city. From the park you can access Roxas Boulevard, which runs along the beautiful Manila Bay. We are running out of space and I still haven´t mentioned Quiapo and its markets of shops, stalls, crafts, food, fish and fruit, because the tradition (with money) recommends to go to the refined and decadent Manila Hotel and have a tea while contemplating the unforgettable sun-

set, and later having dinner a " tanguigue" at Harbor View, at the end of South Boulevard. The restaurant is a dock lit by hundreds of colored lights, reflected on the waters of the bay. My advice is less cool: buy the fish in the vibrant market "Parañaque" and then take it to any of the nearby restaurants where they´ll cook it in the Filipino style. We are finally in Asia and that deserves a long, hot night to take stock of travel and verses. In this case, we can recur to those by Gil de Biedma, an old acquaintance of the city: That life was serious / One begins to understand it later...

El pasado otoño se presentó en Londres la iniciativa más ambiciosa para poner a los productos gastronómicos gallegos en el lugar que se merecen internacionalmente. La gira, que comenzó en Bruselas el pasado mes de marzo, discurrirá por las principales ciudades de los cuatro continentes –confirmadas las de Zúrich, Berlín, Londres, Nueva York, París, Düsseldorf y, de nuevo, Londres; si bien se extenderá casi seguro a otras como Sídney, Tokio, Dubái y Shanghái- con más de 100 productores gallegos, de los que el 90% tienen prácticamente garantizado el contacto con distribuidores locales para exportar sus productos, según indica la coordinación de la iniciativa. Pero no queda sólo en producto esta iniciativa, ya que además los eventos, que duran varios días, incluirán jornadas de cursos y degustaciones impartidas por elegidos chefs gallegos que cocinarán talentosos platos representativos de nuestra gastronomía para las cenas que se ofrecerán a los invitados y que estarán regadas con los mejores caldos de la Región. La oferta engloba desde alimentos más extendidos internacionalmente como los pimientos de Padrón, los grelos, el queso de San Simón y el vino de Ribeiro, así como otros más novedosos y originales como la ginebra de

ciruela Mirabel, las algas y el agua de mar, el jamón de Porco Celta o el chorizo de calabaza. De esta manera, empresas especializadas en queso, marisco, fruta, carne o embutidos, junto a coctelerías y bodegas, darán a probar sus productos a través de elaboraciones de alta cocina en forma de menús de degustación y tapas, creadas expresamente para la ocasión por los cocineros Santi Almuíña, Diego López y Benigno Couso, con un lema que reza: Don’t asume! (no supongas). De esta forma, gran parte de las empresas alimentarias gallegas de tamaño familiar tendrán una visibilidad mayor en mercados potenciales, con reforzamiento de los vínculos administrativos, burocráticos y, sobretodo, de seguridad en “dar el salto”, para que los jóvenes productores se queden en Galicia y exporten sus productos en lugar de tener que emigrar ellos mismos. La sociedad pública Galicia Calidade está presente en el ‘Galician Gourmet Extravaganza’, donde cuenta con un espacio de información y degustación de productos de las marcas certificadas, que en la actualidad suman más de 55 empresas –y 350 productos–. Thus, much of the Galician food companies with family size will have greater visibility into potential markets, strengthening their administrative and bureaucratic links and, above all, a security for "making the leap", for young producers to stay in Galicia and export their products instead of emigrate themselves. Cocoanut. Boston

Después de la restrictiva ley seca se empezaron a abrir locales en USA carentes de medidas de seguridad y construidas con materiales pobres y fácilmente inflamables. Uno de los más conocidos, el Cocoanut sufrió las consecuencias: un caballero tuvo a bien quitar la bombilla de su receptáculo para poder besar a su novia, lo que originó un pequeño fuego que acabó en la mayor tragedia en una discoteca hasta la fecha. Casi 500 asistentes perecieron en un incendio donde palmeras de papel y falsos escenarios arabescos fueron los peores aliados de una noche de terror.

After the restrictive dry law, in the US they started opening different venues, without security measures and built with poor materials and highly flammable. 14 de Febrero de 1981, miles de parejas dublinesas celebraban San Valentín en uno de los recintos más populares y espaciosos de la ciudad cuando una pequeña llama en el equipo de sonido apareció para sorpresa del primer testigo, el pinchadiscos del local, que con el temor de que el pavor colapsara el recinto empezó a vociferar a los presentes que no cun-

diera el pánico; lejos de conseguirlo, el fuego alcanzó rápidamente a muchos de los asistentes a los que no les había dado tiempo a evacuar, provocando el dramático resultado de 49 muertos.

February 14, 1981, thousands of Dubliner couples were celebrating Valentine's Day in one of the most popular and spacious venues of the city when a small flame on the sound equipment appeared, surprising the first witness, the local DJ, who fearing that terror would collapse the venue, began shouting not to panick; far from achieving it, the fire quickly reached many of the attendees who had not been evacuated, causing the dramatic result of 49 dead.

La historia negra de los sucesos en discotecas también salpicó Galicia; Clangor, una sala que vivía su mejor momento allá por los 80, sufrió un ataque mortal por parte del Exército Guerrilleiro do Pobo Galego, que convencidos de que allí había un foco de compraventa de drogas, decidió poner una bomba al lado de los altavoces del recinto, provocando que en el momento de mayor volumen se ocasionara una gran explosión. La acción provocó 3 muertos, dos de ellos los propios terroristas, decenas de heridos y el fin de un local pionero y referente en la movida gallega.

Alcalá 20. Madrid

Corría el año 83, y un local de apertura reciente que ocupaba el sótano de la antigua sala Lido en pleno centro de Madrid era punto de encuentro para los jóvenes de la época. Sobre las 5 de la madrugada se produjo un cortocircuito que ocasionó que los amplios cortinajes del escenario comenzaran a arder. El resto del suceso es conocido por todos: puertas de emergencia bloqueadas, salidas desesperadas por claraboyas, decenas de muertos y procesos judiciales interminables hicieron que Alcalá 20 se asociase desde ese momento a uno de los episodios más dramáticos de la historia reciente del país.

It was 1983, and a recently opened venue occupied the basement of the old Lido club in the center of Madrid, a meeting place for young people of the time. Los diseños celtas en los 90, los elementos zen y orientales en los primeros 2000, las estrellitas y las huellas de animal allá por 2010... Somos muchos los que hemos sucumbido al encanto de la tinta sobre la piel –que, avisamos desde ya, se convierte rápidamente en adictivo- pero, y pese a que en los buenos estudios advierten claramente al cliente de la importancia de pensar muy bien el diseño que uno quiere hacerse, hay quien ahora, 20 años después, no encuentra nada sexy ese Mandala medio desteñido que luce

desde los 17. Son muchos los factores que contribuyen a que alguien se arrepienta de su diseño corporal. A la falta de consciencia a la hora de elegirlo se unen otros factores, como no haberlo cuidado convenientemente en la cicatrización, empeorando el resultado soñado, o no haberlo hecho después, dejando que el color y la forma se perdiesen. Bueno, y si eres de los que se tatuó el nombre de su ex en medio del pecho... entonces tu caso es todavía más intenso. Hay quien opta por lo que se conoce como Cover Up, una técnica que sirve para cubrir un tatuaje antiguo con otro más lustroso –y más grande casi siempre-, pero incluso en esos caso lo ideal es eliminar antes, al menos en parte, la

pigmentación antigua. El láser Ink Hunter es la solución en esos casos. Sesión tras sesión –sí, hace falta más de una- elimina la pigmentación antigua y permite, o bien un nuevo tatuaje, o bien lucir nuevamente nuestra piel. Duele. Evidentemente. Pero también duele la aguja del tatuaje y pasarte por ella sin pensarlo demasiado, al parecer, así que no hay excusa. Aunque la técnica existe desde los últimos 90 ha avanzado mucho, y los resultados han mejorado notablemente. Hablar de moda y tatuaje ha sido siempre algo impropio, moda atiende al cambio por estatuto. El auténtico tatuaje, símbolo en la piel, es por excelencia lo que no se puede cambiar. Podríamos decir que ha sido siempre antimoda. Aunque en otras civilizaciones era una práctica altamente honorable, en el Levítico ya se prohibían los signos en la piel, los cortes y las descarnaduras, dando origen a esa función discriminante en nuestra cultura. Se le ha juzgado como vehículo de difusión de contagios y demás maldiciones. El tatuaje ha sido considerado como un signo abyecto, empezando por la costumbre que tenían los romanos de tatuar a los esclavos y a los criminales, pasando por el tatuaje de los números en los prisioneros de los campos de concentración nazis y ha sido utilizado para señalar desertores, desviados sociales o sujetos de algún modo contaminantes. El estilista se desplaza a tu casa, vacía completamente tu armario y consigue recolocar las prendas, desechando aquellas que jamás debieron estar allí y creando un nuevo estilo. Un servicio perfecto para el cambio de temporada del que Fernando avisa “es un servicio muy completo, y al terminar conseguimos que, cada vez que vuelvas a tu armario, encuentres siempre algo que ponerte”. Si el cliente necesita nuevas prendas, el estilista le asesora al respecto “pero te aseguro”, dice “que en casi cualquier caso con menos de 300€ de inversión podemos conseguir un armario que parezca nuevo cuando en realidad no lo es”. En Galicia tenemos el corazón muy grande, y el sentido del humor más grande todavía. Por eso, cuando un montón de clowns decidieron unir sus fuerzas y convertir la risa en terapia para el dolor más terrible de todo, el dolor del alma y la injusticia, a nadie le extrañó que fuesen gallegos. Pallasos en Rebeldía (en gallego la Y no existe) lleva años llevando sonrisas a territorios donde la muerte y el dolor son una constante, y donde, claro está los niños son quienes más sufren. Han paseado sus narices rojas por Chiapas, el Sahara, Palestina... y ahora centran sus esfuerzos en la frontera Heleno-Macedonia, donde, ante la vergüenza de los ciudadanos europeos y la impasividad de sus dirigentes, se agolpan miles de refugiados sirios. Familias enteras que emprendieron un camino incierto huyendo de la guerra de Siria, en busca de una nueva vida, y se encontraron con una Europa cerrada a cal y canto que, para sorpresa de las entidades internacionales como la ONU, no ha pestañeado en el momento de incumplir las leyes del asilo internacional. En Idomeni, que así se llama el campamento, conviven con los pequeños y les arrancan la sonrisa con todo el humor y el cariño que atesoran. Tal y como señala el clown y portavoz del colectivo, Iván Prado, “queremos compartir in situ la lucha legítima de los refugiados por traspasar fronteras para sobrevivir y hacer un llamamiento a la comunidad internacional para que asuma su responsabilidad en esta crisis humanitaria, política y territorial. Refugiarse no es ilegal, sí lo es la corrupción del sistema capitalista y seudo-democrático que ha generado esta situación de desigualdad y que ha demostrado su fracaso”.
