● Loiteringinthecorridorsdisruptseffectivetrafficpatterns;donotblockthehallwaybutallowpeopleto pass.
● Courtesyrequiresproperrespectforschooloffices.Congregatingoutsideanofficecaninterferewiththe businessoftheoffice.Anyonewaitingtoseeamemberoftheschoolstaffshouldstayatanappropriate distancewhileanotherbusinessisbeingtransacted.
● Theofficephonesandclassroomphonesareforofficialschoolbusiness.Studentsshouldgetpermissionto reporttotheMainOfficeanytimethereisaneedtocontactaparent.

ItisthebeliefoftheEvansvilleHighSchoolAthleticCouncilandMaterDeiHighSchool,thatallstudents participatinginanyschoolfunctionhavecertainobligationspertainingtotheirconductbothinandoutoftheir particularseason.Everystudentisexpectedtobehaveinamannerthatbringscredittohis/herschool,squad,and self.Whenastudent’sconductinoroutofschoolreflectsdiscreditupontheschooland/orcreatesadisruptive influenceonthediscipline,goodorder,moraloreducationalenvironmentintheschool,thestudentmaybe declaredineligibleforfurtherparticipation
TheIndianaHighSchoolAthleticAssociation’srulesmustbefollowedinallcasesofeligibility,transfer,physical examinations,insurancecoverage,startingdates,useofschoolequipment,etc
SchoolAttendanceRequirement:Studentsareexpectedtoattendallclasses Studentsabsentfromclasseswill notbeallowedtoparticipateinapracticeorcontestonthedayoftheabsence Unlessexcusedbythe Administration,studentsmustbepresentfortheentireschooldaytoparticipateinthatday’sevents. Studentswhoaresuspendedfromschoolmaynotpracticeorparticipateduringthetimeofsuspension
ConductRules:AllstudentswhochoosetoparticipateforEvansvilleHighSchoolAthleticCouncilmember schoolsshallabidebytheruleslistedbelow.Theseareconsideredtobeminimumstandards.Individualcoaches and/orsponsorsmaysetstandardsabovetheseminimumsbynotifyinginwritingeachstudentparticipatingandthe Principal.Allaccusationsofruleviolationswillbebroughttotheattentionoftheathleticdirectorandhead coach/sponsor.Itistheirresponsibilitytoinvestigateallchargestodeterminedisciplinaryactiontobetakenif necessary.
1. Atnotimeisastudentallowedtobeundertheinfluenceoforbeinpossessionofanalcoholicbeverage, tobaccoproducts,orillegaldrugsnotprescribedbyaphysicianlicensedbytheStateofIndiana,forhisor heruse.TheCodeofConductisineffectfor365daysandbeginswiththefirstdayofthefirstfallsports seasonofthefreshmanyear.
2. “Possession”isdefinedashavinganalcoholicbeverage,tobaccoproducts,orillegaldrugsonyourperson

orhavinganalcoholicbeverage,tobaccoproducts,orillegaldruginavehicleinwhichthestudentis drivingorisapassenger,orbeingconvictedinacourtoflawofillegalpossessionofalcohol,tobacco,or drugs.Student-athletesareresponsibleforthecontentsoftheirlockerorvehicleinwhichtheyaredriving.
3. Ifastudentisplacedonhousearrest,he/shewillbesuspendedduringthelengthofthesentence.
4 TheEvansvilleHighSchoolAthleticCouncil,composedofrepresentativesfrommemberschools,believes thatathletesrepresentingtheirschoolshavecertainobligationspertainingtotheirconductbothinandout oftheirparticularseason Everystudent-athleteisexpectedtobehaveinamannerthatbringscreditto his/herschoolandsquad Whenanathlete’sconductinoroutofschool(1)reflectsdiscredituponthe schoolor(2)createsadisruptiveinfluenceonthediscipline,goodorder,moraloreducationalenvironment intheschool,thestudentmaybedeclaredineligibleforfurtherathleticparticipationfortheremainderof his/herhighschoolcareer
Thefollowingpenaltieswillbeenforcedforaviolationoftheserules:
FirstOffense–Thestudent-athleteshallbesuspendedforaminimumof20%ofthescheduledeventsforthat sport/programforthatschoolyear.Scrimmagesandjamboreesarenotconsideredacontest.Canceledcontests willnotcounttowardthesuspension.Beforereinstatementtothesport/program,thestudentmustcompletea school-approvedsubstanceabuseprogramatthestudent’sexpense.
Ifthesuspensionfallsnearenoughtotheendofaseasonthatthefullpenaltyof20%ofthecontestscannotbe assessed,thepenaltyshallcarryovertothenextsportsseason/programinwhichthestudentparticipates.Ifthe studentisnotparticipatingatthetimeoftheviolation,thestudentshallberemovedfrom20%ofthecontestsofthe firstsportseason/programinwhichthestudentwouldnormallyparticipate.Attemptstocircumventthisruleby goingoutforanothersport/programinwhichthestudentdoesnotnormallyparticipatewillnotbetolerated.
SecondOffense–thestudent-athletewillbesuspendedfromteamorteamsfor365consecutivedaysfromthedate ofsuspension.
ThirdOffense–thestudent-athletewillbedeniedparticipationfortheremainderofhis/herhighschoolcareer.
SchoolActivities-Athletic,Extracurricular,andPerformances
Schoolandrecreationalprogramsareencouragedtofosterschoolandclassspirit
Studentswhoparticipateinanyextracurricularactivitiesareexpectedtoattendallclasses Unexcusedabsences willpreventastudentfromparticipatinginapracticeorcontestonthedayoftheabsence(see Excused Absences) Thelatestastudentmayarriveatschoolandbeeligibletoparticipateinanextra-curricularactivitythatdayis8:00 AM ThePrincipalmustapproveexceptionstothisrule Studentswhoaresuspendedfromschoolmaynotpractice orparticipateduringthetimeofsuspension

ItisapolicyofMaterDeiHighSchoolthatastudentbeasophomoreoroldertoattendProm.Anyguestat aMaterDeisocialfunctionmayberequestedtoprovideaphoto/pictureI.D.
StudentswhoareeighthgradeoryoungerarenotpermittedatMaterDeidances.Guests21yearsofageorolder maynotattendMaterDeiHighSchoolsocialfunctions/dances.
Studentsmaynotbeadmittedtoschoolsocialaffairsafterthefirsthouroftheactivityhaspassed.

Deviationsfromthisrulemustbepre-arrangedbetweenthestudentandthePrincipalwhowillthennotifythe chaperonesand/ormoderator.ASignIn-Outsheetwillbeusedatschoolsocialactivities.
StudentIDswillbeissuedearlyintheschoolyearandshouldbecarriedbythestudentatalltimesintheir originalformorasaphotoonacellphone.

Mater Deistudentswillbeseatedatawayeventsinthesection(s)assignedbythehostschoolanditsofficials
Thefollowingbehaviorsarespecificallyforbiddenatevents,bothhomeandaway:
● Behavinginsuchawayduringtheintroductionofparticipantsfromtheopposingschoolthatwouldbe(or appeartobe)rudeordiscourteous
● Displayingsigns,banners,buttons,badges,orthelikeexceptasapprovedbytheschoolanditsofficials
● Cheers thatareinbadtaste,suggestive,orotherwiseoffensiveareforbidden TheschoolofficialsatMater Dei reserve the righttomakethefinaldecisionabouttheappropriatenessofcheersandchantsusedbythe MaterDeicheeringsection
● InattentiveorrudebehaviorduringtheplayingoftheNationalAnthemisforbidden
● Disrespectorrudebehaviorsatstudentperformances(plays,musicals,etc)willnotbetolerated Studentswhoviolatetherulesofgoodconductatextra-curriculareventswillbesubjecttotheschool’s disciplinaryactionandmayberemovedfromtheeventand/orfutureevents.
ThefollowingpenaltiesmaybeimposedonanyMaterDeiHighSchoolstudentwhoisremovedfromanextracurriculareventbyaschoolofficial,athleticdepartmentrepresentative,orlawenforcementofficialathomeor awayevents:
● IndefinitesuspensionfromattendanceatMaterDeievents(homeandaway)
● ReferraltothePrincipaland/orBoardofDisciplineforpossibledetention,suspension,probationor expulsion,dependingontheindividualcase.
RegulationsForDances/Events
Allschoolrulesandregulationsapplyatdances.
● Anypersonwhosewearingapparelwouldproveembarrassingtootherstudents,sponsors,orchaperones willnotbeadmitted.Properdresslengthisrequiredforadmission.
● Baremidriffs,barebacks,snug-fittingclothing,andhalter-topsarenotpermitted.
● Shirtsofanyoffensivenaturewillnotbepermitted,includingadvertisements,andaretobebuttoned.
● Shoesmustbewornatalltimes.
● Dancingdeemedinappropriatebyschoolofficialsmayresultinthestudentbeingaskedtoleavetheevent.
● Specialpermissionmustbegivenforstudentsenteringadanceonehourafteritbegins.
● Studentsmustsignoutandarenotreadmittedafterleavingadance.
● Studentsshouldleavethepremisesimmediatelyfollowingadance
● Congregatingofstudentsonschoolpropertyafteradanceisnotpermitted
● Studentdatesmustbeinatleast9thgrade,andundertheageof21
