President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni toured the progress of the temporary Command Center for national safe city CCTV at Natete Police Station. According to Museveni, once the project is complete, fighting criminals will be very easy in the country as police will no longer rely on eye witnesses but will be using scientific analysis to arrest criminals. In this cameras will be used for surveillance, pick up number plates of wanted motor vehicles, identifying suspected criminals among others. 359 cameras have been so far been put up and currently running.

According to Maama Phina, the president has benefitted immensely from her association’s members but he has never paid them back in kind. “If he [Museveni] does not visit us with a bag of money, we shall support People Power. He cannot be moving around giving people who did not support him when we are here,” she said.

UTI-causing bacteria found on currency notes
FUFA has officially announced the ‘retirement’ of the historical Uganda Cranes jersey that marked Uganda’s return at the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon. The new kit made by an international kits company, Mafron was yesterday unveiled at Namboole. FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo said that Cranes will have the first feel of the new look kit this weekend when they take on Lesotho at Namboole. According to Magogo, the new kit will only be available to the public at its authorised outlets. He also stated that a team of lawyers is available to take on counterfeits.
A research conducted by Allan Muhumuza, a Makerere University student has found that most of Uganda’s currency notes are contaminated with bacteria, including potential pathogens that may cause disease in healthy individuals. According to the research 45% of currency notes are contaminated with bacteria. Also, notes of lower denominations were more contaminated than big notes of Shs10,000 , Shs20,000 and Shs50,000. The report authored by Dr Samuel Nambile from University of Gothenburg, Sweden stated that bacteria cause eye and urinary infections among women.

Zaake I Returns
News
Zaake repentant as he returns home from India today O
n the eve of Arua Byelection in August, Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake was rounded by the army with other people. While in detention, he was allegedly badly tortured and later admitted at Rubaga Hospital. For over a month, Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake has been receiving specialized treatment in India. In a video shared by his wife Bridget Namirembe, Zaake has said that he is feeling better and he could return home before the end of this week. Zaake revealed that he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) of his horrible experience in Arua. “In my head there are traumatic events of what I have been through but I am sure by the time, I get back home will be much better. My back, hands arm have been pressed by scissors and other things…I don’t want to remember such bad scenarios,” he stated. The Mityana Municipality Legislator has asked those who have made a habit of torturing him to leave him alone because he is not a violent person. “They should leave me alone. I am not chaotic. I am not a violent person,” he stated. Zaake revealed that he is undergoing training on how to walk on his own adding that he is currently using clutches. The 27-year-old noted that he gets panic attacks and sometimes lacks balance while walking. “I must support myself to walk which I am told can stop after continued Physiotherapy sessions.” “I am using clutches to walk. They are training me how to walk, he stated. On Facebook, Zaake alleged that Ugandan authorities wanted to confiscate his medical documents. “In New Delhi, through Ugandan Embassy, the state of Uganda has attempted to conspire so that my medical
documents are given to them but the professional ethics that these medical workers exhibit made their efforts futile.” Homecoming Zaake has hinted on the possibility that he might fly in today, Thursday if all goes as planned. He stated that he is ready to be discharged for the journey back home. “I am ready to be discharged so that I can receive enough rest I am healing and on my way to recovery. My message to Ugandans is to be calm. My situation is not that badly off. I am healing and on my way to recovery,” he added. Government reluctant Despite the heavy deployment that surrounded Entebbe International Airport (EBB) as Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi return from the US where he was also receiving treatment, the government is rather unbothered by Zaake’s announced in spite of the fact he is also being charged with treason. When contacted for any possible travel arrangements for Zaake when he arrives at Entebbe, Deputy Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, Col Shaban Bantariza said Zaake is indicted by Court and knows the procedure to follow to fulfill his obligations. “On top of his treason charge, Zaake has other cases to answer such as escape from custody. Definitely, he is a person of interest but we trust that he will be compliant with the law,” Bantariza said.

Celebrities that cannot wait for 2021 BY ALEX TAREMWA
T
here is no law that says leadership is a preserve of the politicians. This a reality that several Uganda celebrities have woken up to after a successful road test by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), gospel singer Judith Babirye and Comedian Kato Lubwama of Lubaga South. As the 2021 general election looms closer, several musicians, radio and television personalities, comics and other celebrities have started compiling or dusting their political CVs to contest for different parliamentary seats. Here are some that you can expect on the ballot and where:
Ronald Mayinja After decades of singing political songs such as Africa, Bukenke, among others that seemingly yielded no fruit, Golden Band maestro Ronald Mayinja has already even released his campaign posters. Mayinja is wasting no time in making his intentions known by the voters in Gomba district that he is the man with the vision to deliver the constituency to greater heights. The Bizeemu singer however, will have it all to do to redeem himself after he made a surprise appearance before President Museveni in Kiboga alongside the infamous Tubonga Naawe crew as the ruling NRM celebrated the constitutional amendment that removed the age limit.
Catherine Kusasira
If you have been wondering how or even why Catherine Kusasira has been President Museveni’s golden girl of 2018, you now have your answer. Kusasira promised to deliver Wakiso district – a known opposition stronghold to the NRM come 2021 when she contests as the district’s Woman MP. Not entirely surprising huh!? Didn’t think so! The public has been calling her a “minister for condolences?” having been chosen by the president to deliver Shs20m token to the family of the late Muhammad Kirumira and Bobi Wine’s driver, Yasin Kawuma (RIP). Kusasira could easily turn her criticism into political capital that will land the ministerial position just like that.
Dr Hilderman
He may have sang for her one of the best campaign songs of 2016 but Dr Hilderman (Hillary Kiyagay) as he is affectionately known has turned the guns against his former master and trade minister Amelia Kyambadde in Mawokota. According to Hilderman, Kyambadde has not lived up to the expectations of her constituents hence the decision to take on the mantle himself in 2021. To prove his love for his birthplace, Hilderman named his recently born son Wokota and from our sources on ground, the singer is tipped to give the long-time Presidential Secretary a run for her money if he sustains the momentum that is partly inspired by Bobi Wine with whom he is closely associated under the People Power movement.
Geoffrey Lutaaya
One can now comfortably say that entertainers have finally found the goose that lays the golden eggs – politics. Even the boss of De Nu Eagles – Geoffrey Lutaaya is going back home in Kyotela to represent his people in Parliament. To prove his seriousness, the singer who has been in and out of the media for several reasons recently enrolled for a short course in Computer Science at Makerere University. The political awareness of the musician coupled with his soft spot for the people in the Greater Masaka area and proximity to President Museveni’s ear puts Lutaaya in a favourable position. It could an Eagles Production thing as Mayinja and Kusasira were also founding members of the defunct band.

Eddy Yawe, again After losing the Kira Municipality seat to FDC masterclass, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda in 2016 and the Kampala Central seat in 2011, one would expect that Yawe – Bobi Wine’s big brother learnt his lesson but not quite. The lovey-dovey singer with the voice that makes women lose their wigs is back - this time with the backing of the new political wave – People Power. Yawe whose critics had written off as “politically cursed” is confident that this time round, he will shoot straight to Parliament and together with his little brother; they will be a force to reckon with.
Patriko Mujuuka
Witty radio personality at Mengo’s Central Broadcasting Services (CBS), Patriko Mujuuka has already set the ball rolling in Nakifuma - the intersection of Mukono and Kayunga districts – where he will base to launch at Parliament. The constituents who enjoy his humour have already bought into him and are only waiting for his face to appear on the ballot preferably under the Democratic Party ticket so they can shower him with votes. Mujuuka has unleashed several programmes in the area including football tournaments for the youth, church fundraisers for school going children and has been attending local functions in a bid to buy himself social capital among the voters. Flavia Namulindwa Gomba seems to be the centre of attraction having already pulled Ronald Mayinja and now the naturally endowed Flavia Namulindwa who is vying for the new district’s Woman MP Seat. An entertainer, media personality and show host, Flavia is as frequent in the news as is with men having been linked to several men in the recent past. The 29-year-old, however, looks keen to settle and present the views of fellow women in Gomba to Parliament the same way she presents music on her show on Bukedde Television.
Levixone Gospel musician, Sam Lucus Lubyogo popularly known by his stage name, Levixone is learning from the best. With fellow gospel artiste Judith Babirye in Parliament representing Women from Buikwe district, the youngster has also set plans in motion to sit in the August House. The only problem is he intends to unseat fellow entertainer – Hon. Kato Lubwama in Lubaga South. Lubwama’s term in parliament has been rather controversial and has left most of his supporters wondering whether he is on a mission to represent their views or to earn a hefty pay cheque. But who cares, the money is there for the taking right?
Julius Ssenkandwa
Elections
Journalist Julius Ssenkandwa recently put down the camera and microphone to give Luwero Triangle Minister, Dennis Galabuzi a bloody nose in Busiro North constituency. Ssenkandwa whose socio-political reporting at the Serena-based NTV Uganda made him a household name will look to capitalize on his popularity as a political launch pad to unseat the experienced and connected Galabuzi come 2021. Other celebrities who are rumoured to run for political office are Ragga Dee, Katongole Omutongole, NBS Simon Muyanga Lutaaya and motor mouth Frank Gashumba.

t seems 2018 is going to be a year of celebrating decades, from media empire NBS marking 10 years of talking media to Swangz Avenue also celebrating 10 years of churning hits. The latest to jump onto the decade- celebrating wagon is arguably the biggest act in comedy in Uganda right now, Patrick Salvado Idringi. The chubby comedian took to his Facebook page and thanked all the people who have supported him in his journey from friends, sponsors, well wishers, fans among many others. “… All I can say is thank you. I can’t thank you enough, I don’t want to start naming you coz I don’t want to leave out anyone…” wrote a cheerful Salvado. Salvado went on to invite everyone for his show slated for late next year at the Kampala Serena Hotel. “So I invite you next year at the Kampala Serena Hotel on the 8th of October to hound me as I celebrate a decade in comedy,” he concluded. Salvado has been at the forefront of Ugandan comedy for the past few years and we wish him luck in his next phase of the comedy industry.
Major Lazer leaves Ugandans in suspense, plays only one Ugandan song
I
ach and every time a foreign deejay comes to Uganda, the crowds are always eager to see the deejay play some content brewed from home. However, when Major Lazer was in town for their show, many fans were in for a shocker when the trio played only one song, Masanyalaze. Very many fans do not know why that was their only Ugandan choice of song but many have attributed it to
its crazy catchy beats. However, despite the disappointment, very many fans got their money’s worth with Major Lazer keeping the revelers on their feet throughout the night. This was the very first time the trio was performing together in Uganda after Diplo performed alone mid last year.

On her birthday, an excited Lukoma took to her Facebook page flaunting her unboxed iPhone XS max. She later wrote a short post thanking a mysterious blesser she only identified as A for the gift. The phone is estimated to cost over Shs5million. Ever since she broke up with her long time lover Dean Nsubuga, her love life has been in the shadows and we can only guess who made this generous offer to the songstress.
Eddy Kenzo, Ykee Benda, Sheebah win big at the AFRIMMAS

ver since Eddy Kenzo’s big breakthrough with the BET, he cannot get enough of the success. Latest to his already heavily decorated accolade shelf is yet another AFRIMMA that he bagged over the weekend in Texas, where the ceremony happened. He, however did not represent alone as Sheebah and Ykee Benda did make their mark as they also walked away with awards as best female East Africa and best new comer respectively. However, the night was taken away by the Nigerians who bagged multiple awards right through the night to the extent that some of them even lost count. The awards seek to recognize and reward African artistes making a mark musically on both the continent and the Diaspora. The future seems bright for the Ugandan music industry at large especially for the new acts. Keep raising the flag all the way folks.

here are always those songs that we love for the sole reason of making our Mondays feel like Fridays. Ladies and gentlemen, Guma Bakunyige is just one of them. Straight from the word go, the song spells out nothing but the party. Greene gives the song a very deep tempo with a fusion of hard core dancehall beats that are introduced during the chorus. Loosely translated, the title of the song calls out chics to let loose and “serve rubs when in club. Recho Rey flows like a legend, dropping her signature clever lyrics complimented with quite a number of hardcore Luganda bars. Simply put, this is the kind of song that one does not need to be reminded to dance to, it just comes naturally. Like every other hardcore hip hop artiste, Recho Rey calls out the haters and reminds them to back off regarding the fact that she is currently running the game. This is simply a club anthem. The video When one listens to the song, even before watching the video, one can only imagine one thing, a club scene with lots and lots of rubadubing. The official video is disappointing I must say. Recho Rey is in some kind of abandoned grassland littered with old non-functional vehicles in the majority scenes and on top of a convertible sports car in the other. It is only in a few scenes that she is in club that we get to see a sneak peek of what looks to be rubadubing. This should not have been the video concept. Sizzling hot audio, disappointing video.

HEALTH How to get rid of smelly feet for good BY PAUL ISABIRYE
THE KEY TO MAKING YOUR LONG-DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS WORK
O
ur feet produce a lot of sweat, and that is because they have more sweat glands than any other part of the body. These glands release sweat all throughout the day to help cool your body and keep your skin moist. Everyone’s feet sweat, but teenagers and pregnant women are most prone to very sweaty feet because their bodies produce hormones that make them sweat more. Guess that helps to explain why back in school we had that common reference to “carbon” to mean smelly feet. People who are on their feet all day at work, are under a lot of stress, or have a medical condition that makes them sweat more than others tend to have sweatier feet. The good news though is that smelly feet can be dealt with and it can happen using basic remedies:
relate Unlocking the matters of the heart
Good hygiene
Getting rid of foot odour may be as simple as following a daily foot hygiene routine. This may include washing your feet with an antibacterial soap. It is important to wash your feet every day and dry them thoroughly, especially between the toes.
Soak your feet
The tea bags in your house could be the relief you need from smelly feet. Tea soaks are one of the most effective home remedies for bad foot odour. Simply use four or five tea bags to about a litre of water. It only requires for you to make the tea as you normally would, then allow it to cool and soak the feet for about 20 minutes each day.
Try a salt bath
Alternatively, the other option to a tea soak is a salt wash. To do this, pour a quarter (or even a half a cup) of salt into four cups water and soak for 10–15 minutes. Salt baths have been known to improve skin health and kill fungi, which is why it can help prevent skin disease and, yes, odour.
Rotate your shoes
Not wearing the same footwear every day can really help avoid shoe odour in addition to the stinky feet. Rotate two or three pairs of shoes so you can give them a chance to dry out before wearing them again. Consider well-fitting shoes made of leather, which can allow your feet to breathe and typically do not soak up as much sweat as cloth shoes.
L
ong-distance relationships have a shelf life, and the key factor that makes this type of arrangement work is having an end goal or date in mind when it will be possible for the two of you to be in the same place together — whether that means one of you eventually leaves your place of work, or finishes school or tries to look for work in the place you are relocating to, or whatever circumstance it is the main disruptor that is keeping you from being together is removed. Long-distance relationships are meant to be temporary. The goal is to be with the person you love. So it naturally follows that in order to maintain a long-distance relationship there has to be a ‘light at
the end of the tunnel.’ In other words, there must be a date established for when someone will be relocating to have a shot at lasting together. Without a light at the end of the tunnel it is only natural for couples to drift apart. It is the counting down of the months, weeks and days until one is finally done with the inconvenience of being in a long-distance relationship that keeps it strong. If you begin an online dating relationship and know in your heart you will never relocate or your partner leaves the country for example and you are certain you do not want to move with them, there is a good chance you have already determined the outcome of the relationship — especially if she or he has solidly established them-
selves as well. To make sure that the motivation behind agreeing to get involved in a long-distance relationship are because you are sure this person is — or could be — the person you end up with. The only reason for being in a long-distance relationship is because you believe he or she is ‘the one’ and vice versa, meaning that if you are just simply ‘dating someone’ you might as well do that locally. The key is to always approach a long-distance relationship with the end in mind and concrete steps to reach your goal of being together, say relationship experts.

New study reveals what women find really attractive Is it money? Maybe that counts, but there are more exciting things, apparently. Is it the six pack? Well, that might not be too far off, but not exactly. And it is…
A strong man. Simple. The times may be changing, but not when it comes to whether women are attracted to strong guys or not. Researchers at California State University at Fullerton asked 160 women to look at pictures of shirtless guys (with blurred out heads) and rate them on their perceived strength and attractiveness on a scale of 1 to 7. Sixty of the guys were plucked from the university gym while 130 were enrolled in psychology classes. According to the study, published in Proceedings of The Royal Society B, the women found strong men the most attractive (surprise, surprise). And it wasn’t just iffy. A grand total of zero women preferred the weaker guys. The re-
searchers explained that there are a few factors at play here, such as cultures which put strong dudes on a pedestal, and then some biological instinctual stuff wired into women’s heads that tells them to find the guy that will fight off ‘encroachers’, carry disease-resistant genes and lead the tribe. Granted, the study was mostly based on the views of 20-something college girls in America, which is probably the most weightlifting-obsessed culture on the planet. The researchers are hoping to fix these structural problems to the study by expanding the research to twelve different sites around the globe. Still, just because women find the guy with veins popping out of his neck attractive, or whatever, it does not mean they want to date him. Nor does it mean they cannot fall in love with you, especially if they find out you have a real bulge… in your wallet!

The guest of honour, Dr. Joyce Moriko, the Minister of State for Primary Health Care was overjoyed by the great work that RHU is doing among young people and the kind of positive empowerment that makes them productive. She also warned young people not to rush for wealth but to be patient rather than lose their lives. “Young people should be empowered with education not only at school but also at home by the parents who have nowadays focused on spending more time in offices than with their children,” spoke Patricia Namawejje, a Peer Educator with RHU.

It is less than 1 per cent of our mobile money revenue. However, we see it as an amazing service that will sustain customer loyalty to MTN in the middle term,” Muzzolini said. Mobile services, according to a Finscope survey released in 2018, were the major driver of financial

The report indicated that 23 per cent of adults in Uganda save money through mobile services,
compared to 11 per cent in the commercial banks and related financial institutions. According to the CBA’s 2016 report, in only five months, 1.5 million customers were registered for the service and Shs3.7b had been saved through mobile money while Shs9.2b worth of loans had been disbursed. On their loans, MTN and CBA charge 9% interest and have a maturity period of 30 days which can be stretched to 90 days after which it is classified as a bad loan. hen I returned to my grandmother’s village for the first time after nearly 20 years, I was amazed to find that nothing had changed! The thatched roof homestead was exactly the way it was when I was six years old. (You should know by now that I have a better memory than an elephant!) My grandmother wanted me to give her electricity... given that I claimed I was an “electrical engineer”! I was disturbed about the state of her homestead, even though my concern was not shared by any of my relatives. When I asked my grandmother what she really wanted, she was clear: “I want a house with electricity, brick walls, cement floor, and I don’t like the grass!”
I owed so much to my grandmother, perhaps even my very life. When the War of Independence began, I was with her when the army swept through our village looking for guerrilla fighters. I was only six but she immediately sent me back to the city. In later years she was interned in “fenced villages” by Ian Smith’s army. She was a tough old lady and lived until she was 106 years old. She knew her mind, and she knew me. “I want a proper house,” she demanded. “Okay. Let’s see what I can do.” Now if I could have, I would have simply borrowed a little money to build her house, right? People laughed at me with scorn at the idea that I would borrow money to build a rural homestead. But I’m a “Why not?” person...
I do not accept that things should remain the way they are, as though ordered by God!
Fast forward...
I asked an architect friend to design me a rural homestead for my grandmother. He thought it was a novel idea, and travelled there with me one afternoon. It was nothing elaborate. It was functional, and with all the rural elements. It was my little project for years. I would buy cement and bricks bit by bit. Remember, I did not always have money. In the years that I worked, I wondered why governments don’t provide tax incentives for people like me who wanted to invest in improving the rural areas. I wondered why entrepreneurs do not set up rural mortgage financing vehicles.
I imagined for her a rural homestead with running water and electricity. With the advent of solar energy, it is possible now! What really excites me now is the possibility of #Re-Imagining our villages. Nowhere is it written that they cannot be improved. In Rwanda they are now Re-Imagining with model villages powered by solar. #WhyNot? Our policy planners can also Re-Imagine and create incentives for those who work and live in cities and the diaspora to invest in rural areas! #WhyNot? Don’t write to me about the challenges. I know them all. Let’s see what we can do nonetheless, because we must. Let’s go.
To be continued. . .

How eden tomato is allowing Kalumamba to grow his dream
BY PAUL JJEMBA
M
ichael Kalumamba is a tomato farmer from Mbale who decided that tomato growing was the thing for him as far back as 2011. After his training at Bukalasa Agricultural College in Luwero in 2007, Michael started his farming journey by growing different kinds of crops until he discovered he could
possibly prosper best if he chose to focus his efforts on growing tomatoes. According to Micheal, he was motivated by the belief that he would get ready market for his tomatoes even beyond the local Ugandan market. “It was around this time that a friend from South Sudan told me about the market for my tomatoes. He even advised on which specific type of tomatoes I should grow. I
began with growing ‘Assila’ a type which has a lower gestation period of only three months and with a long shelf- life(staying fresh after harvest) of about 21 days,” the 29-year-old told Matooke Republic. “In my first harvest season, I made almost Shs2m in profit. I harvested about 150 boxes from my three-acre tomato field selling a box at Shs120,000 to the Sudan traders and Shs70,000 to the local market,” Michael

recalled. As time went on, Micheal says he has been doing constant research by reading farming blogs and attending agricultural seminars and that is how he landed on a unique tomato breed called ‘eden f1’. Unlike the ‘assila’ type, ‘edenf1’ is a climbing breed which when pruned and trained well can grow well on string/wood support stands. “Training the tomatoes is not difficult but you have to start when they are young. Wait for not more than a month after transplanting. “Tie the stems of your tomato plants to the support structures every five or seven inches as they grow. This is what is termed as ‘staking’. “The growing stems of the tomatoes are soft and can easily be damaged so you need to tie them loosely,” Michael explained. As opposed to any other type of tomatoes, Michael said the eden f1 is a hybrid type with a firm skin making it suitable for long distance shipping and in addition, it also boasts a long shelf life. It yields up to 50,000kgs per acre and besides that, it is disease resistant. “I strongly advise tomato farmers to stake their tomatoes as it guarantees great yields. Rots in your tomato fruits are not rampant since the fruit has no contact with the soil,” the seasoned tomato farmer concluded.

he stage was set as the inaugural Serena Johnnie Walker Open was held from October 3-6 at the refurbished 18-hole Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort. More than 200 golfers, 46 of them professionals, assembled at the golf haven to give it its first ride. As the professionals teed off on Day One, one of them, Herman Mutaawe, was overheard telling his peers how this is the kind of course they should be competing on regularly. The course came with multiple challenges but the water left many golfers with fewer balls than they had arrived with. Away from the water, the rest of the course served a treat for onlookers and players alike. Day One saw course resident and crowd
favourite Fred Wanzala finish with a four stroke lead ahead of Herman Mutaawe and Phillip Kasozi. Day Two would come with its own story as the tables turned with Kasozi returning a final round one-under par 71, wrapping up the championship with three birdies on the day and eight over the 54 holes to claim the biggest share of Shs25m prize money in the tournament that opened Serena Golf Resort’s 18-hole course. Kasozi exploited Wanzala’s three bogeys on holes 4, 5, 10, 12 and a double bogey on hole 16 to win by three strokes. Mutaawe and Wanzala came second and third respectively. Day Three which had the main event saw the amateurs take to the course with club member Jadu Patel emerge overall winner. “It feels good to win on

my home course. The experience is even much better when the course has been opened up officially with 18 holes” Patel stated after picking up the winner`s accolade. When the golf was done, the attention turned to the Lake Victoria Serena Resort’s coliseum where the winners were recognised at a black tie event. Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) Managing Director Mark Ocitti reminded the gathering how UBL had given to golf more than any other entity. “You will agree with me that it is a full-blown love affair going on when it comes to Uganda Breweries and Ugandan golf. No other corporate does golf as well as we do. Our partnership with golf spans decades, and our commitment to the sport is unwavering, as our continued sponsorship of various golf events shows,” he observed, confirming that UBL wasn’t about to stop feeding its habit of supporting golf. “We are in this thing for the long haul,” he said. He is also used the opportunity to gush about the new-look Lake Victoria Serena Kigo course, rating is as the region`s best golf course. “What a course! I am still trying to let it sink in. This place is PGA Tour-ready! Its distinctive features offer a refreshing feeling for any first time visitor, and a quick tour certainly confirms this as East and Central Africa’s finest golf course,” he added.

ith President Museveni offering Uganda Cranes camp Shs200m and a chartered plane for the return leg to Lesotho, the national football team has no excuses ahead of the crucial double header coming up at Namboole on Saturday, October 13 and three days later in Maseru on Tuesday October 16. Despite Cranes leading Group L on four points, Uganda is yet to take solid command of its charge
to the Afcon 2019 finals. Ahead of the Lesotho double header, Cranes needs a minimum of four points in both fixtures if we are to remain in serious contention in the group. However, with Sebastien Desabre’s poor run of games this appears to be a taller order than most fans could have imagined only a year ago. But according to Cranes vice-captain Hassan Wasswa, the team is ready to give its all. “When we come out for training, we always give more than 100%. It is this same spirit that we want to display in the matches. We shall go for all-out attack strategy against Lesotho and personally I am ready to stand tall when called [upon] by the coach,” Wasswa vowed. The last time Cranes faced Lesotho was in 2007 away in Maseru and game ended in a barren draw but in 2006 the sides had played at Namboole and Cranes won 3-0. Lesotho has drawn both its games in this campaign against Cape Verde and Tanzania, and are second in the group on two points.

Rugby 7s ready to retain Africa throne
Moneybags City Oilers are looking to make it six titles in six finals as the Tusker Lite National Basketball League best of seven final playoffs get to the halfway stage. Oilers who had a sloppy tip-off against rivals BetWay Power, has managed to stand tall winning the last three games. With game five on this Friday at the MTN Arena, Lugogo, the Oilers only need to maintain their winning streak to match Falcons’ record of six domestic titles.
The much anticipated ‘Fight of the Century’ is on this Saturday, October 13 at Freedom City – Namasuba as kick boxers Umar ‘The Pain’ Semata and Moses Golola face off. Semata who has had a month-long training camp in Phuket – Thailand said; “Actions speak louder than words. Golola talks too much but it’s time to silence him once and for all.” In response, motor-mouthed Golola said; “Many of his colleagues have witnessed the other side of Golola and he also has a chance to witness it.”
Uganda Rugby Sevens jetted off to Tunisia for the Africa Sevens Championship scheduled for October 13-14. During the flag-off the Guiness-sponsored team promised to fight to the end. “We have Kenya and Namibia coming back to the event so it will be tougher (but) we are going for it and the team has good experience having been to the World Cup early this year,” said captain Michael Wokorach. The 7s side features three newbies; Ian Munyani, Isaac Massa and Harunah Muhammad.
