The answer was YES and now you face the sometimes daunting task of planning your special day.
This should be an enjoyable experience, so the key to success is being well organised, right from the start. Make a ‘wish list’ of everything you and your partner have talked about or dreamed of. A folder or book including pictures is a great place to start, as you can then flick back through it at your leisure and decide exactly what you want to make your day unique and special to you. There’s a lot of information out there, so don’t fall into the ‘overload’ trap where you end up with too many ideas on your Pinterest page which can be overwhelming. Just try to select things you ‘love’ instantly - that’s usually a good indication.
You are best to create your own checklist and also include your expenditure, to keep an eye on your budget. If you are not an overly organised person, choose a venue that offers planning assistance or engage a close friend to assist. This will help to alleviate some of the anxiety for you. I enjoy assisting my brides with the pre-planning of their special day and venues should have an extensive list of local suppliers who offer excellent service and share the same ‘care factor’.
Once your date is set, it’s important to next find the perfect venue. You should choose a venue that you both feel very comfortable with and ensure that their events team take your wishes into consideration.
Ensure you take the time to enjoy your special day and make special memories to treasure for the rest of your lives together.
If you don’t feel comfortable, move on and find somewhere that you do. Your wedding day is all about you and your venue of choice should share your dreams and visions for your wedding day.
If you’re concerned about your guests travelling to and from the ceremony and reception, a venue that offers all of these facilities in one place is ideal. Couples that arrive with their family and friends not only enjoy their wedding day together, but celebrate both pre and post the wedding, as this is often the only time family and friends are all staying in one place, especially if guests are from afar.
Above all, make sure you stop to take a deep breath and enjoy every minute of your special day with your family and friends. This day has been your main focus, but you’ll find it goes very quickly, so ensure that you take the time to enjoy it and make special memories to be treasured for the rest of your lives together.
