The current research aims to survey the cultural landscape of Florianópolis, located in the South region of Brazil. The intensification of urbanization and tourism, along with the increasing pressure from the real estate capital has brought about socio-spatial transformations that began to threaten the maintenance of its cultural identity.
The cultural landscape presents itself as an important instrument of ways of living and conceiving life, anchored in the historical process of production and interaction with the natural environment. From this conceptual approach is being developed methodological procedure for their identification and mapping of areas of interest and landscaped value.
It is intended to contribute to new ways of planning and management of the city, to promote the conservation of nature and built landmarks (tangible heritage) and the reflexive evocation of the past, to enhance the urban memory and to maintain the social identity present and alive (intangible heritage).
