Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!' Robin Williams
Spring is the season of new beginnings. As warmth in the air increases, fresh buds bloom and the earth seems to come to life again. The blooming of new flowers reminds us that it is time to embark on a new journey with new hopes. As vibrant colours fill the air, what can be a better way to welcome spring than to get drenched in colour and water...and in turn be doused in the essence of Holi - the festival of colours. IndiGo wishes you a month of celebration, colour, vigour and hopes. The March issue of HELLO 6E celebrates the spirit of womanhood on International Women's Day (March 08), and dedicates the Vignette section to colour pink – a colour related to compassion, nurturing and love. This celebration is further enhanced by featuring some

With an eye on expanding its domestic reach, Agra will soon be added to the 6E network. Focussing on Agra beyond the Taj Mahal will give a peek into the lesser known aspects of this ancient city.
The OffBeat section reflects the colourful fervour of the spring season and highlights some unique festivals related to the spirit. The IndiGo catering team works in tandem with the team of chefs to conceptualise and create the dishes suitable for our esteemed clientele.
Serving thousands of dishes each day, all the while choosing the right menu and adhering to tight flight schedules can be immensely complicated. There's a lot that goes behind the Chicken Junglee Sandwich or the Paneer Tikka Sandwich that you often relish in your 6E flight. From selecting the right ingredients to garnishing the food before it is being packed and served, the art of inflight food is complicated yet interesting. A look inside reveals just how much detailing goes into creating a meal before it makes it to your 6E flight. Hygiene & cleanliness It is essential that strict hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained when preparing the meals. Therefore, at all the units catering to IndiGo, the staff inside the kitchen is required to wear protective garments and hair nets for hygiene. The facilities also have a hand washer that the staff needs to mandatorily use when entering the production area, sanitising their hands before entering the restricted area. Planning and prepping The IndiGo catering team works in tandem with the team of chefs to conceptualise and create the dishes suitable for our esteemed clientele. Apart from ensuring that the meals are presentable, nutritionally balanced and of course appealing to the taste buds of IndiGo flyers, the menu is created keeping in mind various other things like availability of fresh raw food items, its sustainability levels, etc. Shelf life evaluation and meal sampling sessions are conducted pan-India before the actual product finds its way to the inflight menu. Picking the right ingredients The secret to success of a meal depends on two things: right ingredients and correct preparation. Moreover, it is also important that the ingredients are available throughout the year to ensure that the meal created has a consistent taste and flavour.

Trams in Istanbul look like out of an old movie. Two lines are in service, the first on the European side (NT) and the second (T3) is on the Asian side. Istanbul is no different. The Turkish Doner Kebab is delicious, filling and pocket-friendly too. A light or serious conversation can be enjoyed with a cup of Turkish coffee in a fincan (the cup in which Turkish coffee is served). At the same time, the food served in Istanbul is a heady mix of everything and borrows in equal measure from the West and the East. Have you ever tasted an ice-cream that can be eaten holding the cone upside down? Try Dondurma, a type of Turkish ice-cream that is different from anything you’ve ever tasted before. You may swear by baklava or lokum but this gravity-defying goodness has taken the world by storm, its fame stretching beyond the Turkish borders gaining the reputation as the icecream that stretches. It doesn’t melt – not even in the hot summers of Turkey.

March 2020
How does it feel to be the youngest British driver to start a Grand Prix? It’s a cool fact, but not something I think about too much. I’m pleased to have made it to F1 as quickly as I have and I’m proud to have that title. Your thoughts on racing for McLaren. I joined as a test driver back in 2017 and its great to see the team’s hard work starting to pay off. We know we’ve got a long way to go before we’re back where we want to be, and we’re determined to keep moving forward. It’s exciting to be a part of that process. When did you start watching F1? I started watching F1 around the same time I started karting. I was around 8 years old then. Since I started Karting, F1 has always been the dream. Who are your F1 idols? I wouldn’t really say I have any F1 idols. I grew up following Valentino Rossi very closely and was lucky enough to meet him at his Silverstone race earlier this year. Which one is your favourite circuit? The Singapore circuit really stood out this year, that’s probably my favourite track on the calendar. It’s a very technical circuit and racing at night always brings an added challenge. You’re racing alongside Carlos Sainz this year. How are you getting on? Carlos and I get on really well, and if we want to win races and championships, the best thing to do is to work together and move forward as a team. A big part of the team’s P4 in the championship last year
was because of how we worked together. It benefits both of us at the moment, and I hope that continues. How it feels to have won a professional race? It’s an awesome feeling. A lot of work goes into getting to that position, a lot of sacrifices, but at that moment you know it’s been worth it.
Quick fire Instagram or Snapchat? Instagram Snow or island? Beach Steak or fish? Steak Villain or hero? Always the hero What was your last Halloween costume? Probably my skull mask when I went for a run in Austin last year. Cake or chips? Cake, but really, biscuits.
Does losing actually make you better? It’s important to always look at how you can improve, whatever the result. I like to be harsh on myself when looking at my performances, but that’s just how I focus on improving. It makes me work harder and work with the team better. What are your hobbies? You can usually find me on my sim at home, and I’ll occasionally stream a few races on Twitch. I’m not on it as much as I used to be because I’m usually on a plane, at the track or in the factory. Who are you really looking forward to racing against this season? I don’t really focus on any other drivers, all 20 of us are racing for the same piece of track and my main goal is to beat as many of them as I can. How do you see Lewis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel? I see them as competitors first, especially when in the car. I’m usually thinking about how I’ll react to what they’re doing on track. What was your first road car? My first car was a Mini. Do you have a McLaren? I have a papaya orange McLaren 570s. I also have a Renault Megane for my daily drive.

Dressing up the world Coco Chanel (1883-1971) Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel, grew up in a convent under strict discipline. One day, she discovered a series of romance novels and she loved everything about it – the costumes, the sets, the performers in make-up. It transformed her. Now all she wanted was to be an actress. She took the stage name Coco and started acting. As luck would have it, one of the young men who enjoyed her performance on the stage, Etienne Balsan, invited her to stay in his nearby chateau. Gabrielle accepted the offer and one day during her stay, she came across Balsan's clothes. She started wearing a mix & match of 'his and her' clothes – his open collared shirts and tweed coats, paired with some of her own clothes, all topped with a man's straw boater hat. This innovation elicited a new kind of attention. Soon people started consulting her for fashion tips. She opened a studio in Deauville, France and her hats became a craze. By 1920 she had become one of the leading fashion designers in the world and the greatest trendsetter of her time. Her clothes had come to represent a new kind of woman – confident, provocative, and ever so slightly rebellious.

Bringing a smile on every child's face was Ruth Handler, an American inventor who created the iconic Barbie doll in 1959, named after her daughter Barbara. Her inspiration behind creating these dolls was her daughter and friends. She realised that kids used paper dolls to play make-believe and imagined roles. Seeing this, she aspired to give kids a better doll to facilitate their dreams. The first Barbie premiered at a toy fair in March 1959 and became an overnight sensation by selling 3,50,000 units in its first year alone. Handler wrote in her autobiography, “My own philosophy of Barbie was that through the doll, the little girl could be anything she wanted to be. Barbie always represented the fact that a woman had choices.
