HelpForBob,ASpecialMessage

In early July, we had a tragic medical emergency with one of our employees. Bob Schrader, our head mechanic for almost 19 years, suffered a major heart attack while working. Thankfully, two of our team members, Tim Hall, and Max Travis, were present and performed lifesaving CPR until emergency personnel arrived. Without their heroic efforts, Bob would not be with us today. After being in an induced coma for several days, Bob had a pacemaker put in on July 24th and was able to go home on Wednesday, July 26th.

On August 14th, we plan to conduct our annual golf marathon in Bob’s honor to help raise funds for his medical bills. The Pro Shop team, myself and others plan to play 100 holes of golf or until we tap out from heat exhaustion.

Our initial goal was to raise $10,000. However, due to YOUR unsurpassed generosity, we have already raised over $16,000 for Bob's medical expenses. Bob's wife, Kerri, has continuously expressed her incredible gratitude for the kindness that you have bestowed upon them. Kerri plans to attend the golf marathon on August 14th, so that she can thank as many people as possible.

Kerri'sHeroes

Our golf course team, otherwise known as 'her heroes', are also assisting her with yard work and home projects while Bob recovers

Tim and Max, pictured above, are also being recognized with the Heart Saver Hero award from the American Heart Association. This award is to recognize the heroes among us that have stepped in to help save a life during an emergency.

This also serves as a reminder of the importance of CPR training and to improve the survival rate of citizens that received CPR. Every year we conduct CPR certification training for our staff and the HOA has recently begun hosting CPR classes at PNCC through our local fire department.

I encourage you all to participate in the education classes to refresh your CPR knowledge Thank you for your support and we look forward to the day we can welcome Bob back to Porters Neck

Sincerely,

Pastor Gets Hole In One!

Congratulations to Don Pastor for his HOLE IN ONE! This is what his wife, Diane, had to say, "Don and I played the back 9 this afternoon and he had a hole in one on #11! He used a 6 iron for 146 yards I saw it go in and he didn’t believe me until he saw it in the hole Here’s a photo I took and we were both excited!"

TheFantasticFour

Porters Neck Juniors, Grace Breeden, Katie 'KG' Sechrist, Lilia Wall, and Sophia Catino grew up playing tennis at PNCC. Last month, they were the cover story for the Porters Neck community magazine, Stroll. As they prepare to play college tennis, they looked back on fond tennis memories and shared appreciation for their favorite tennis coach, PNCC's Rafa Toro! Good luck, ladies. The world is your oyster!

Goal For 2023

Our fundraising goal this year is $60,000 - an amount we are confident our generous sponsors, Porters Neck neighbors and Wilmington tennis community will help us achieve This year's event will also feature a VIP sponsor party on Thursday, September 28 Based on 2022 attendance, and early registrations for 2023, we expect the event to sell out quickly! See you in September!

Last October, the Wilmington tennis community led by players from Porters Neck Country Club, turned out in force to support our efforts to raise over $60,000 to benefit Make A Wish Eastern NC for children with life changing medical diagnoses Over the course of three days, attendees at the 2nd Annual Swing For The Stars Tennis Tournament enjoyed premier-level amenities for players and spectators alike, including a DJ, club activities like bocce and pickleball, plus food and beverages options from our award winning F&B staff

Porters Neck Country Club and Swing For The Stars are set to do it again this year, with our 3rd Annual Swing For The Stars Tennis Tournament scheduled to take place September 29 - October 1, 2023 While our mission to help children with critical illness remains the same, we would like to take an opportunity to share the success of this event with other local non-profits who serve similar missions We are thrilled to announce that this year's tournament will benefit the Wilmington chapter of Welcome Home Angel

Why Welcome Home Angel? Founded in Wilmington in 2007, Welcome Home Angel's hyper-local mission serves families and children in Southeastern NC, providing joy and relief through customized space transformations for children with special healthcare needs From aesthetic sensory rooms to wheelchairaccessible bathrooms, WHA's impact allows caregivers to provide safer care in their own home, where children can focus on being a kid instead of their diagnosis With design teams comprised of volunteers, therapists, interior designers, and contractors, each room is customized to the child's needs

100% OF THE PROCEEDS FROM THE TOURNAMENT WILL SERVE LOCAL CHILDREN IN THE WILMINGTON AREA

BUNKERS

It is every player’s responsibility to rake the bunker after playing out of them. When entering in a bunker, please enter and exit at or near the lowest point of the bunker. Yes, this may not be the closest point to your ball, but you will not leave deep footprints in the faces of the bunkers and will then make it easier to properly rake.

GOLF CARTS

We need all golfers to pair up on golf carts when playing We are too busy to have players take their own cart and make people wait for a cart when wanting to play.

CART PATH ONLY DAYS

On days that we are cart path only, we see many people “sneaking” off the path. There are signs on the 1st and 10th tees, the tee sheet is updated and if you check in, we will tell you the rules of the day. No excuses to say I didn’t know.

We institute these rules to try and protect the course from damage as much as possible It may seem dry, but there are many areas that are not, and with almost 200 people playing, a lot of damage can occur We will do our best to check the course and update the restrictions when possible

GOING FORWARD, IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OFF THE PATH WHEN IT IS CART PATH ONLY, WE MAY SUSPEND YOUR GOLF PRIVILEGES FOR A PERIOD TO BE DETERMINED.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10TH | SAVE THE DATE!

We are thrilled to say that we’ve had a great response to our request for volunteers! Very shortly, we will announce the complete details of the tournament, including needed donations We look forward to another FUN event for a GREAT cause!

PNTeeTimeReservationSystem Etiquette&Procedures

Etiquette:

Tee time etiquette is just as important as golf course etiquette and there is more to managing your tee time than just booking that time With our course being so busy, it is important that the member making the tee time reservation take ownership of that time Here are a few things that can be done to make sure your tee time is well managed:

Book tee times when you plan to actually use them, not as an option to play.

Only use names of members that are actually planning to play. It is understandable that names may change between when the reservation is made and when actual play takes place. However, correct names should be designated for all tee times no later than 48 hours prior to scheduled play If you don't know who will play, do you need the tee time?

Manage the time! If players change or drop off, make those changes accordingly If you have only 3 players, make sure there are only 3 names on your time This will allow other members to possibly find a game

Make sure all of your players are aware of the correct time On the day of play, all players must check into the pro shop at least 10 minutes prior to the start of play

Cancellation of tee time reservations should be made as soon as it is known the time is not needed

Failure to cancel your time or check in and register with the Pro Shop for a reserved starting time will be charged a penalty fee.

Power Flow Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic and invigorating style of yoga that emphasizes fluid and continuous movement. This practice combines elements of traditional Vinyasa yoga with an added emphasis on building strength, flexibility, and endurance. Power Flow Vinyasa sequences typically involve a series of flowing postures and transitions, allowing practitioners to seamlessly move from one pose to the next. The focus is on generating heat in the body through vigorous and challenging practice, which helps to release tension, detoxify the body, and build physical and mental resilience. It also encourages mindfulness and presence, as practitioners stay connected to their breath and body throughout the practice, leaving them feeling energized, centered, and refreshed.
